The perfect gift for every occasion

  • The King's Daughters Inn is a 17-room boutique Bed and Breakfast, in Durham, NC. Convenient to Duke University, the Durham Performing Arts Center, and RDU. Just awarded Urban Conservationist of the Year for Durham County.
The dining room is home to gourmet hot and cold breakfast each morning. It also provides a lovely setting for your special event.
The Grand Staircase: A prime example of the kind of historic elegance that awaits you at The King's Daughters Inn.
Enjoy our lovely sun porch. It is a warm and inviting space for relaxing with a book, catching up with an old (or new!) friend, or sipping a cup of afternoon tea.
The Parlor is beautifully appointed for intimate conversation with family and friends! You might also enjoy a board game here, or a quiet moment alone with a cup of coffee.
The King's Daughters Inn was lovingly and meticulously renovated to retain as much of the original detail and charm as possible. It was then decorated with touches that enhance the historic character, creating a unique setting for your stay.
The Austin Suite - One of our largest accommodations, this first-story suite is decorated in black and white, with bold red accents. The fold-out queen sofa in the sitting room means this suite can very comfortably sleep 4 guests. Kick up your feet in the living room, or stretch out and relax in the palatial king bed.
The Markham Room - This first-story queen suite is a statement in chic design. The velvet sofa folds out into a queen bed allowing the comfortable accommodation of 4 guests.
The Watts Room - Nestled in the rear corner of the main building, this second-story charmer never ceases to delight our guests. Soft shades of green make it the perfect spot for a relaxing respite. And the "diving horse" headboard makes a beautifully dramatic statement.
The Moss Room - This coveted corner room features three walls of windows overlooking a beautiful stand of Oak and Magnolia trees. Rise and shine with the morning sun following a restful night's sleep in the satiny blue shades of Moss.
The Tyree Room - A nod to the age of glamour, this room is dressed in apricot tinted silk and velvet. Mirrored accents add to the feel of timeless decadence and luxury. Pamper your self and your senses during your vacation. You deserve it!
The Howerton Room - Perfect for those favoring a more tailored look. This second-story room features lovely views of Duke University's East Campus. An English-style writing desk, wing-back chair, and glass-enclosed shower all add to the cozy charm of the Howerton.
The Exum Room - Affectionately known as the "Tommy Bahama" room in reference to the tropical decor. Guests of Exum enjoy a queen bed, writing desk, generous seating area, and walk-in closet. Staying in Exum provides the feeling of an island escape with the convenience of a short walk to the center of Durham's Downtown.
The Crews Room - This beautiful corner room affords some of the best views from the inn: Three walls of windows overlooking the ancient Oak and Magnolia trees that grace Duke University's East Campus. A warm color scheme and conservative, elegant decor provide the perfect backdrop for your holiday getaway.
The Trinity Room - The creme de la creme! This luxury second story king suite features an adjoining sun porch overlooking Durham's historic Trinity Park neighborhood. Take advantage of the air-jet tub, roomy glass-enclosed shower, and double vanity in the lavatory. It's opulence at its finest!
The Parrish Suite - Not your average B&B decor! This fun 2-room suite is decked out in a funky black, white and purple design scheme. A deco-inspired shell headboard adorns the queen bed. Glass-top coffee table and mirrored accents add a little light and sparkle to this purple paradise.
The Farthing Suite - This second-story king suite is one of our most spacious accommodations, comfortably housing 4 guests. Farthing is elegantly appointed with a classic black and white decor.
The Womack Room - This guestroom is as stylish as it is practical. Our ADA-compliant room features a lower bed, roll-in shower with bench, and easy elevator access. Enjoy your stay in this beautiful first-story guestroom.
The Saunders Room - Serenity is what the Saunders room is all about. A second-story queen room, Saunders is highlighted by an intimate adjoining sun porch. A warm neutral color scheme adds lightness to this perennial favorite.
The Woodard Room - The bespoke design scheme of Woodard evokes the subtle charms of early 20th century aristocratic lodgings. Black, white and burgundy accentuate the relaxing traditional theme. With views of Duke University's tree-flecked East Campus, an English style writing desk and glass-enclosed shower, rest and rejuvenation are sure to be had in the Woodard guestroom!
The Rigsbee Suite - Experience a taste of the golden age of Hollywood in the Rigsbee Suite. Deco glamour in black and white with red accents provide an opulent backdrop for a luxurious retreat.
The Tomlinson Room - Tomlinson is situated at the top of the grand staircase on the second floor. It's placement in the back of the building affords it extra peace and quiet for those travelers who need it. Spaciously appointed with queen bed, writing desk and full seating area, Tomlinson is the perfect place for recreation travelers to stretch out and relax, and for business travelers to get some work done.
The Lathrop-Morehead Suite - First rate comfort abounds in this first-story queen suite. From the leather headboard and chic design to the pull out queen sofa in the separate sitting room, Lathrop-Morehead provides the very best mix of historic charm and modern style and convenience.

    We were spoiled

    August 14, 2011

My husband and I were in town to see Durham and decide if we want to move there. Loved our stay. Everyone was super friendly and we felt spoiled by the turn down service with wine and chocolates, the comfy robes after our showers and the responsiveness to our needs. Although we were only able to try breakfast one morning (since we had two early starts and missed breakfast), what we did had was delicious and the staff packed "to go" snack packs for us. I enjoyed being across the street from Duke campus and going for a morning run around the campus. The only thing to be aware of was that since it is an old building, the walls are very thin and you can hear everything that goes on outside the room. The nights were fortunately quiet for us and we did not have a problem with this. Overall, we loved our stay!

    This place is amazing!

    March 07, 2010

My company was hosting a meeting at the inn. I had the longest drive of any attendee, so I decided to drive in the night before. Unfortunately, I have a broken leg and had to arrive on crutches. When I walked in the door, Deanna (who I later found out is one of the owners) greeted me, and immediately grabbed my bag. She took me to the elevator (I obviously was not going to be using the stairs) and spent 10 minutes in my room with me making sure that I could move around comfortably. My suite was huge and beautiful. The bed was unbelievably soft and having a glass of port and gourmet chocolates waiting next to my bed didn't hurt either!! The following morning I didn't make it down for breakfast. When I got downstairs to meet my group for our meeting, I ran into Deanna and Colin. They asked how I was doing and immediately went to get me coffee. My coffee arrived on a silver tray with freshly made scones and cinnamon rolls. I look forward to my next opportunity to stay at the inn (minus the broken leg) and to have more of an opportunity to experience this great place.

I felt like the king's daughter!

    February 17, 2010

It's a beautiful inn located right across the street from Duke's east campus. With 2 daughters at Duke I was so excited to find this little bit of heaven on earth. The rooms are beautiful and charming and immaculately clean. Breakfast is delicious, fresh scones, banana bread, cereals, yummy coffee, and the special of the morning. I love staying at this inn. It's quiet, peaceful and beautiful.

    Thanksgiving stay

    December 01, 2009

We stayed at this charming inn while we visited relatives. The rooms, both public and our bedroom, were beautiful and relaxing, like home only better! The port and handmade chocolates at turn down, were such a treat and breakfast was yummy. We could choose from cereals, fruit and yogurt, and hot selections that change daily as well as scones and homemade lemon curd. In the afternoon, several types of tea were available as well as the inn's signature coffee, whch we enjoyed in the parlor. We "walked the wall" around the Duke campus just across the street and also walked down to Brightleaf to check out the shops. We visited with our family for Thanksgiving dinner, but learned that some other guests, who were staying at the inn were invited to join the Crossman's family dinner so they were not alone over the holiday. What a thoughtful touch. They are such a nice young couple. We will be back.

    Absolutely Perfect

    November 30, 2009

We were speechless from the moment we walked in the door. From the food, to the service, the beautiful room, and right down to the tinest of details, they sure got it right. As if the rooms weren't beautiful enough, the friendly atmosphere and relaxing ambience combined to make the perfect weekend retreat. Our stay at The King's Daughters Inn will not be our last!!!!
