The Ashford Inn is named for Colonel John Ashford, who fought and was wounded on the front lines at Bull Run, Gettysburg, and Petersburg during the war between the states. Colonel Ashford turned in his regiment to General Grant at Appomattox and returned home to Clinton shortly afterwards. The Colonel and his wife Elizabeth raised their family in this lovely home and were responsible for many of the renovations to the house that exist today. The Ashford Inn has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the Dept. of the Interior as part of the College Historical Project and was featured in the April 1997 issue of Colonial Homes Magazine. We offer six guest rooms with private baths. The Ashford Inn offers dinners with advance notice. We also have full liquor license and bar on premises. The inn has free high speed wireless internet, free parking, and offers government and military discounts.

Thank you Julie and staff for a wonderful stay with you at the Ashford Inn. I was in town on business for four weeks and booked my entire stay with you - glad I did. You have "nailed" the Bed &Breakfast experience - BED (very comfortable beds) BREAKFAST (wonderful and creative). I would definitely stay here again.

Passed through Clinton, NC on our way to Wilmington to visit our niece. Had booked a night at Ashford Inn through Hotels.com. Arrived later than we expected, but received a very gracious welcome from Julie. She gave us a tour of the house, showed us our room and gave us some suggestions for where to find a nice dinner. Slept well, despite some traffic noise, and arose to a lovely breakfast of Huevos Rancheros, cheese grits and fresh fruit. My husband, who is not a huge fan of grits, loved these. And they were very creamy and rich. We had a lovely, long conversation after breakfast with Julie and her friend Melissa. We look forward to staying again at a later date.

We were looking for a place to stay in an area we thought would out of the way with not many options. We were extremely happy to have stumbled on to the Ashford Inn. The bed was so comfortable I was tempted to stay in it longer but we needed to get rolling. It was very clean and the breakfast was tasty. I would definitely recommend it as a place to stay.

Ashford Inn delivered on a cozy and relaxed night for me, just what I needed before a triathlon the next day. Sweet room with everything I could need. Had a tv glitch and they were up there ready to fix in a jiffy. I did not get the pleasure of breakfast the next day because I left so early but they had ready a banana and homemade muffin to set me up for a great race. Thank you!
Thank you for staying with us, and for your nice review. You'll have to stay longer next time! Congratulations on finishing your race, and I hope recovery was quick. Maybe a massage could be arranged - there is a great place down the street!

Only had time for a late arrival, one night stay. We would have liked to had more time just to linger on the property and enjoy the historical ambiance. Small town shops looked interesting, but we had to leave after breakfast. The breakfast was gourmet-simple and very satisfying. We were pleasantly surprised by the "chef's" choice and preparation of our meal. Next time, we WILL stay longer.

This was our first stay at a bed and breakfast and it was a great place to stay. Room was excellent, house was very clean, and the breakfast was outstanding.
I am thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your first B&B experience! Thank you for the complements.

I travel a good bit and stay in hotels. I have been fortunate enough to find the Ashford Inn for when I travel to Clinton for my company. The house is beautiful and every room is beautiful so don't worry about which one to pick. There are a couple of comforts also that add to the stay...there's a Keurig upstairs in the hallway for guests to use so I can get that early morning cup of coffee while I get ready and I enjoy having a glass of wine at the bar and living room to unwind and chat a bit before going to dinner. Couches are comfy. Breakfast is delicious, my favorite is the texas french toast and the little croissants that come with the egg frittata. And oh yeah, don't forget the hosts, Patty and Mason are so nice and welcoming and make a good team.
