My wife and I stayed here over Labor Day weekend. Pat was the perfect hostess and a gourmet cook to boot!!! She has a beautiful property and it's expertly decorated with antiques of all kinds. The beds are very comfortable. I highly recommend staying here.
5 out of 5Sisters Weekend
July 28, 2012
The Inn was recommended to my sister by a friend who talked glowingly about her experiences there. Three of my sisters and I were delighted to find that the Inn lived up to all the praises her friend had heaped on it, and it is now our pleasure to "pay it forward." As a North Carolina transplant, Pat has quickly adapted to our Southern hospitality ways and went the extra mile to make sure that our preferences were taken into account in terms of food, local activities, and historical interests. She is a fascinating lady to talk with, full of stories regarding the house, the surrounding community and her past life experiences. The rooms were absolutely lovely, the food was excellent, and the special little touches (ours was homemade chocolate chip cookies at our return in the evening) made this an extra-special experience for our group. Additionally, Pat was able to accommodate all four of us in the same room so that we were able to reminise, laugh and talk to our heart's content just as we had done in our childhood. Carthage is a lovely town and it is obvious that she is quite proud of her home and community, and enjoys sharing both with her guests. Hotels provide a place to sleep for the night, but Pat provided oh so much more--not only a bed (and what a bed it was!) but an overall experience that we will continue to talk about amongst ourselves and to others for quite a while.

I had been looking for a romantic place to take my wife for her birthday and I found this wonderful B&B that my wife and I will continue to return to year after year. Pat is such a wonderful hostess and she was such a joy to be around. I couldn't have asked for a more relaxing atmosphere and a wonderful experience. My wife and I have traveled extensively and I would definitely put this in our top 10 most enjoyable places to have visited. Such history concerning the house and such love that has gone into the upkeep is seldom to have been seen. We look forward to many, many more visits.

4.4 out of 5Lovely B&B
April 24, 2012
My wife and I recently stayed at the Old Buggy Inn and really enjoyed the house and the hospitality of the owner Pat. The house was built in the late 1800's and is really solid. The rooms are large, with 12 foot ceilings and lovely Victorian style furnishings. Pat made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and prepared a wonderful breakfast in the morning. When we came back from dinner at night, a plate of fresh strawberries dipped in chocolate were waiting for us - they were very very good! Carthage is about 12 miles from Pinehurst, which is a lovely town with a rich history built around golf - it is known as the birthplace of American golf. There are many fine restaurants there as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the OBI and look forward to staying with Pat again.
5 out of 5What a GREAT B&B!!
February 20, 2012
I took my husband on a surprise getaway for Valentine's day and we stayed at The Old Buggy Inn. Much to my surprise, we had the best experience we have ever had at a Bed & Breakfast. Ms. Pat is so hospitable, she serves you breakfast and is always making some sort of appetizer before you go to dinner or snack before you go to bed. It seemed every night we looked forward to staying up and talking with Pat and hearing her stories of hr life before the B&B and life after! I felt like I was saying goodbye to a family member when we left. I plan on taking my husband back so we can visit with Pat again!!
5 out of 5the perfect wedding night
May 17, 2011
My wife and I stayed here for our wedding night and were simply blown away at how perfect the accommodations were. We arrived a little later than expected, but Pat was the most gracious hostess and promptly gave us a tour. The decor was wonderful, a charming family home thoughtfully-adorned with various antiques and relics. Pat left us chocolate-covered strawberries with a bottle of champagne in our room which my wife absolutely loved. Our bed was comfortable and cozy. Breakfast in the morning was exceptional: fresh squeezed orange juice; raspberry coulis with fresh strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries over homemade Greek yogurt; Belgian waffles with whipped cream and fresh strawberries, accompanied by peppered bacon. As we finished breakfast, the massage therapist arrived right on time. We were absolutely pampered and spoiled for our entire stay, a true story-book ending to our special day. We cannot wait to go back for another getaway, everything was just perfect...

The room was wonderful, from the fireplace to the claw foot tub. High ceilings make the room feel twice its size. The bed was perfect. Breakfast was simply great! Relaxing quiet, something I will look forward to again and again.
