Our stay at The Old Buggy Inn was wonderful from the moment we arrived. The innkeeper was warm and inviting. The inn is beautiful and the food was incredible. This was our first experience at a B and B. We could not have chosen a better first time! Thank you for a wonderful stay

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at THE OLD BUGGY INN in Carthage, NC this past Mother's Day weekend 2013. The innkeeper, Ms. Pat, as our kids affectionately called her, is amazing! The house is beautifully restored, the gourmet food is excellent and the southern hospitality is 110%. We enjoyed the charming front porch where our hostess recites wonderful old stories about the inn and it's town. There are games, dvd's, videos, and a myriad of books for kids of all ages. The town celebrates a spring BUGGY FESTIVAL every year on the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend, so this was a perfect time to visit. We are looking forward to another stay this summer and again during the Christmas holidays. We are in love!

My wife and I stayed here over Labor Day weekend. Pat was the perfect hostess and a gourmet cook to boot!!! She has a beautiful property and it's expertly decorated with antiques of all kinds. The beds are very comfortable. I highly recommend staying here.

The Inn was recommended to my sister by a friend who talked glowingly about her experiences there. Three of my sisters and I were delighted to find that the Inn lived up to all the praises her friend had heaped on it, and it is now our pleasure to "pay it forward." As a North Carolina transplant, Pat has quickly adapted to our Southern hospitality ways and went the extra mile to make sure that our preferences were taken into account in terms of food, local activities, and historical interests. She is a fascinating lady to talk with, full of stories regarding the house, the surrounding community and her past life experiences. The rooms were absolutely lovely, the food was excellent, and the special little touches (ours was homemade chocolate chip cookies at our return in the evening) made this an extra-special experience for our group. Additionally, Pat was able to accommodate all four of us in the same room so that we were able to reminise, laugh and talk to our heart's content just as we had done in our childhood. Carthage is a lovely town and it is obvious that she is quite proud of her home and community, and enjoys sharing both with her guests. Hotels provide a place to sleep for the night, but Pat provided oh so much more--not only a bed (and what a bed it was!) but an overall experience that we will continue to talk about amongst ourselves and to others for quite a while.

I had been looking for a romantic place to take my wife for her birthday and I found this wonderful B&B that my wife and I will continue to return to year after year. Pat is such a wonderful hostess and she was such a joy to be around. I couldn't have asked for a more relaxing atmosphere and a wonderful experience. My wife and I have traveled extensively and I would definitely put this in our top 10 most enjoyable places to have visited. Such history concerning the house and such love that has gone into the upkeep is seldom to have been seen. We look forward to many, many more visits.

My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at The Old Buggy Inn. Pat is a wonderful hostess and serves a delicious breakfast. The home is beautifully decorated, well-kept, and clean. We gladly recommend staying at this charming, Victorian B&B.

I was more than pleased with the wonderful experience of spending two nights at the Old Buggy Inn June 8-10. The bedroom was just perfect with wonderful linens and bedding. I had the "English Garden Room" and it certainly lived up to its name. Every detail was authentic and the house as a whole was just like going back in time a hundred years. The proprietoress was the quintessential hostess and her cooking skills were outstanding. The breakfast each morning was first class with beautiful place settings and delicious food, juices and coffee. I would recommend the inn to anyone going anywhere in Moore county - what a delightful place - try it, you'll like it! Pat Kirkman, Southport, NC

My wife and I recently stayed at the Old Buggy Inn and really enjoyed the house and the hospitality of the owner Pat. The house was built in the late 1800's and is really solid. The rooms are large, with 12 foot ceilings and lovely Victorian style furnishings. Pat made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and prepared a wonderful breakfast in the morning. When we came back from dinner at night, a plate of fresh strawberries dipped in chocolate were waiting for us - they were very very good! Carthage is about 12 miles from Pinehurst, which is a lovely town with a rich history built around golf - it is known as the birthplace of American golf. There are many fine restaurants there as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the OBI and look forward to staying with Pat again.

In my visit to my daughter-in-law and grandson while my son is deployed to Afghanistan, I stayed at the Old Buggy Inn, much to my delight. The stay at this Bed and Breakfast made my visit a real vacation. The gourmet breakfasts cannot be purchased anywhere at any price. Fresh squeezed juices, homemade Greek yogurt, Eggs Benedict like you won't believe, etc. The bed was a cloud of comfort. Everything in the house was worth looking at and admiring, like a museum. Pat was friendly and helpful, and I felt as if I'd made a new friend....wonderful person. She really puts quality into everything she does there. The pictures don't do justice to the beauty of this place. I can't say enough about my experience at the Old Buggy Inn. It's just delightful. I felt pampered. I loved the town of Carthage with its old historic buildings and homes to take a walk by. I also loved the little church thrift store on the square where JoAnn welcomed you with smiles and gospel music playing. I found tons to buy there. Much fun!

I took my husband on a surprise getaway for Valentine's day and we stayed at The Old Buggy Inn. Much to my surprise, we had the best experience we have ever had at a Bed & Breakfast. Ms. Pat is so hospitable, she serves you breakfast and is always making some sort of appetizer before you go to dinner or snack before you go to bed. It seemed every night we looked forward to staying up and talking with Pat and hearing her stories of hr life before the B&B and life after! I felt like I was saying goodbye to a family member when we left. I plan on taking my husband back so we can visit with Pat again!!

I've been to B&B's before - but never one where I felt more pampered. Warm hospitality, spectacular food and luxurious accomodations will make you never want to leave! Pat is a wonderful hostess with delightful stories to tell about her lovely home and the treasures it contains. I can't wait to return!

This was the most amazing home I've ever been in. Pat was great and overly accommodating! She gave us information on local places to visit & eat during our stay, with directions on how to get around. I loved that she has two dogs (Fred & Ricky..so sweet) which make it feel so much like a home away from home. The decor was gorgeous, we were lucky enough to stay during the Christmas season and the house was beautifully decorated for the season. The food was amazing and the bed was so cumfy that I didn't want to go home to my bed!! I can't wait to visit again! I would highly recommend this home and owner for your next trip!! Laurie York, PA

My wife and I stayed here for our wedding night and were simply blown away at how perfect the accommodations were. We arrived a little later than expected, but Pat was the most gracious hostess and promptly gave us a tour. The decor was wonderful, a charming family home thoughtfully-adorned with various antiques and relics. Pat left us chocolate-covered strawberries with a bottle of champagne in our room which my wife absolutely loved. Our bed was comfortable and cozy. Breakfast in the morning was exceptional: fresh squeezed orange juice; raspberry coulis with fresh strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries over homemade Greek yogurt; Belgian waffles with whipped cream and fresh strawberries, accompanied by peppered bacon. As we finished breakfast, the massage therapist arrived right on time. We were absolutely pampered and spoiled for our entire stay, a true story-book ending to our special day. We cannot wait to go back for another getaway, everything was just perfect...

The room was wonderful, from the fireplace to the claw foot tub. High ceilings make the room feel twice its size. The bed was perfect. Breakfast was simply great! Relaxing quiet, something I will look forward to again and again.

By all measures, this is a superb B & B--Pat's a fine hostess, the house is beautiful, clean, decorated with both taste and whimsy. Breakfast was lovely, and the unexpected evening snacks and complementary drinks a great touch. I imagine if you asked, Pat would even change the weather for you.

This inn is fantastic. The breakfast is amazing and the afternoon wine and hors d'ouvres add a special touch. Attention to comfort details is outstanding. The innkeeper adds special personal touches. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here- we rode our motorcycle to Carthage- lovely drive- Pat, the innkeeper greeted us, provided a covered place to park the bike, catered to us in every way possible. We will definitely return and would recommend this inn very highly.

This was a restful viist. Marvelously delicious food, sinking into a feather bed and a "feast" for all one's senses far exceeded my expectatons ! The hostess graciously welcomes you in her home. Everything is so comfortable and there are so many beautiful decorations to look at. I highly recommend it to all.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Buggy Inn wanting to take a one-night get-away from the hustle-and-bustle of Raleigh. The accomodatations were as advertised and I thought were a great value. We enjoyed hearing some of the history of the home and the community from the Innkeeper and and would highly recommend this location to our friends for a quick escape from the city.

My husband and I just spent two days and nights at The Old Buggy Inn at the recommendation of my long time friend that lives nearby. This was our first experience staying at a B&B. I don't think many if any other B&B's could top this experience. As others has expressed the surroundings of this old lovely decorated homeplace was so beautifully done with no details missed. Everywhere your eyes could see was superbly decorated with such southern charm to make you feel you were back in time to where life was more simple. Pat (the owner and Inn keeper) welcomed us and made us feel at home. The hospitality she gave made you feel like Royalty! The food was superb. I know when we come back to visit my friend, we will be staying at The Old Buggy Inn.

My husband and I travel frequently and I can say without hesitation that I have never had a more satisfying and wonderful experience staying anywhere as I did while staying at The Old Buggy Inn. Pat, the Innkeeper, could not have been more welcoming. She is so knowledgeable about her beautiful Victorian home, her town of Carthage and her surrounding areas. Pat's cooking is without compare !! So great. The hospitality shown to me and my travel companions was unbelieveable. I will be back. Don't miss The Old Buggy Inn experience.

I have stayed at many B&B's in the US and Europe. The Old Buggy Inn was absolutely charming. Each room was beautifully decorated and had it's own little story. I felt swept back in time but with the pleasure of modern conveniences. The beds are so comfortable with thick mattresses, feather quilts and freshly iron sheets. The food was incredible. Pat is a marvelous cook. She is friendly, sensitive and very helpful. She seems to sense if you would like to talk or just be left on your own. My stay was more than enjoyable, it was a pleasure. I will certainly return. I look forward to it.

I recently stayed at this lovely, beautifully appointed B&B for the first time. It won’t be the last time, as I plan on returning with my husband. It was a girls’ getaway, and such fun to stay there as there are so many places to congregate for little chats, thoughtful reflection, reading, checking emails, etc. The rooms are beautiful, large and planned for the complete comfort of a guest, including great bathroom amenities. Now for the food: it is just outstanding, and, would stand beside any 5 star restaurants for both flavor and presentation. Again, guests’ comfort is considered, as there is advance inquiry by the host of any allergies, health issues or preferences. No worries there for anyone with high expectations. The host is knowledgeable about the history of the house, the town and surrounding areas. Restaurant suggestions, activities, shopping insights further enhance a guests’ experience. All in all, this gracious host truly cares about the experience of her guests, which is so evident from the first time you walk through the door and are greeted by her.

What a wonderful break we had to relax and renew at the Old Buggy Inn! Pat and her sweet Bichons were extremely welcoming from the minute we walked in the door. There are so many beautiful treasures (natural, architectal, and decorative) to take in from the moment you step on the property that a weekend stay doesn't do it justice. We will definitely be going back again! There are many plush chairs and couches to relax on, as well as lots of choices for games in the game room and movies to view in each room. We were captivated by the tale that Pat told of the history of The Old Buggy Inn. Pat is an outstanding chef and sees to the smallest of details in her meals to make them extra special. The baked brie she served for appetizers melted in our mouths and made the house smell wonderful! She gave us informed reviews and had a diverse selection of menus from local establishments from which to choose. After dining at a fantastic Greek resturaunt, we were welcomed back home with the biggest and most delicious chocolate chip cookies we've ever laid eyes on! We had the most comfortable night sleep in a bed fit for royalty, followed by a breakfast that more than pleased ou tastebud. Pat arranged for us both to have massages in the privacy of our room. A massage from Crystal was the perfect end to a perfect stay. We will highly recommend The Old Buggy Inn to family and friends, as well as sing Pat's praises!

My family and I stayed at the Old Buggy Inn during the month of February 2010. There are so many great things to say, not only about the Inn, but also the Inn Kepper Pat. The Inn is beautiful, the rooms soooo comfortable and warm (they have working fireplaces),the food was perfect, and the entire inn was spotless. I wish I could have stayed longer and do plan on going back. Pat, the Inn Kepper was welcoming, warm and more than willing to make our stay as nice as she could. She did everything for us from putting on a fresh pot of coffee when we arrived late in the afternoon to making us a some yummy snacks to fill our tummys. Pat sat with us and told us about the town and the inns history. It was alot of fun. Pat also has two very sweet dogs. As an animal lover they made our stay even better, making it feel even more like home. Pat if you are reading this, thanks again for everything.....and hi Ricky we miss you. Good Things, Monica

I took 7 other people here for our Christmas party in November 2009. The owner was very informative, emailed all the parts we needed in plenty of time and answered any questions I had without delay. The house was very very clean, neat and decorated beautifully. Our food was beyond expectation and you would not regret making this as your choice.

Old Buggy Inn is unsurpassed in comfort and charm. The Inn itself is quite historic and beautifully restored. Each room is elegant with no detail lost on comfort. Feather beds, blankets, fireplaces in each room, entertainment at your fingertips...oh and can not say enough about the food. Gourmet food served on beautiful china and each time I've been, I've chosen the menu. Pat is the perfect hostess and her cooking and hospitality keep us coming back for more.

If you have never been to the Old Buggy Inn before you are in for a treat. I find this Inn to be inspiring. It takes you back in time to when folks used real china, real crystal, real lace and food that is cooked from scratch. The period furniture is all Victorian. Pat, the Innkeeper and owner has taken an old run down house and has made it into a mansion. Pat has stories to share that captures the soul..She has a way of making you feel comfortable and welcome. I feel so warm and welcome when I am there that I see Pat as a friend. Be kind to your self and visit this Inn. Also, Pat is an extremely good cook.....

Everything was perfect... from the feather beds and pillows to the Bath and Body works shampoos and soaps. The food was amazing- we've never had such an amazing array of gourmet food! From the hors d'oeuvres to the unique breakfast, we dined like royalty. Pat is an awesome hostess and even has fascinating tales to share. It was an experience we hope to repeat very soon!

It is December 21St. and my wife and I are staying at the Inn for the second year prior to Christmas so as to see our two Grandsons who live in Carthage. As we walk into the Grand Victorian style home we are greeted by the overwhelming sence of Christmas, the staircase draped with garland and holiday figures adoring the grand entrance hall, setting room and living area. Much to my dismay Pat ( the most gracious host you would ever want to meet) is not there; come to find out we were early and she was grocery shopping for our next mornings repast. fresh-fresh-fresh. We took a seat in the elgant setting room and embraced the the decor of the 1900's with it's dark carved wood furniture and brocade upolstry. What a relaxing place. A short time later Pat entered through the rear of the gourmet kitchen and we greeted as one would a family member you havn't seen in a year. What a perky vivacious personality. We then went up to our room. It is spacious and charming, with it's feather soft bed with down pillows ( to die for). The room takes you back to the Victorian era, 12 foot high celings, fireplace, setee and lace curtains. The bathroom has everything you need including a claw-foot tub with surround shower curtain. When returning to the Inn we were greeted by Pat with a plate of freshly baked cookies and a choice of red or white wine; what a treat. Off to our room for a heavently nights sleep. The next morning my wife and I sat down at the finely adorned table with its lace tablecloth and linen napkins. Silver and crystal abounds. Pat serves a gournet breakfast every morning. Pat is the most gracious host, and her knowledge of the history of the town of Carthage and the Carriage works is phenomenal. We will be back.

I love the Old Buggy Inn. So much so that I have been there 5 times. It feels like I'm going home. The Victorian atmosphere is what I truly enjoy; the house is decorated beautifully and tastefully. The proprietress is hospitable beyond any B&B I've ever stayed and I have visited dozens throughout the U.S. and Canada. Uncomparable. The food is out of this world delicious!!! Warm chocolate chip cookies by the fire in the evening - oh, my!!! It's one of my favorite experiences.

I have not spent the night at this wonderful B & B but I plan to shortly. I went with a group of 30 women for a wonderful lunch. What a treat to see this beautiful historic property decorated for Christmas. The lunch was beyond my expectations. Everything freshly cooked and delicious. I felt like a princess with the beautiful china and silver. After lunch I was most surprised and pleased to have the owner explain how she aquired the house and a history which proved to be astounding!!!!! The research and the love through The Old Buggy Inn is abundant. Pat (the owner) makes you feel as if you belong. I live only about 30 minutes away but I shall return! The Murder Mystery evening sounds wonderful or just a nice relaxing weekend sound delightful. I have driven by The Old Buggy Inn dozens of times and had no idea what a wonderful place it is. I think a cook book and introductory pages about the property would be something anyone who visits would want. What a rare find!

I was privileged to be coordinator for an event at the Old Buggy Inn for a group of ladies. It was a wonderful experience for us all. The Old Buggy Inn is not just another B&B. It is truly an unique experience from the time you enter the inn. Every detail, not matter how small, was attended to perfection. The luncheon for our group was not only a treat for the palate but unsurpassed in quality and presentation. Pat goes well above and beyond any expectations. The inn is unique and the value unsurpassed. Pat maintains a welcome, confortable place yet at the same time it is elegantly done. The food was fabulous and there was an abundance too. Pat and her Inn have charm and hospitality to spare. Your only regret will be if you don't take the time to visit the Old Buggy Inn and have an opportunity to experience this yourself!

Our wedding was a beautiful day. Pat was the most patient and helpful hostess from the first day of planning to the wedding day.The Inn is beautiful and romantic, and all my quests expressed the beauty, and charm that it displays. Our out of town guests loved their accommodations, and expressed the cleanliness, and comfort. The gardens are breathtaking, and our photographs were wonderful.

My husband and I spent a most delightful weekend at The Old Buggy Inn in early October. Dear friends had decided to have their wedding there, so we opted to stay at the Inn, a very wise choice. Innkeeper Pat went out of her way to be accommodating to us. The Tower Room is so comfortable; we slept so well in the beautiful antique bed. We wanted to take the embroidered bathrobes and towels home! Breakfast each morning was beyond delicious and the table settings beautiful. We highly recommend this gorgeously appointed Inn for a stay and/or a wedding.

This inn was the perfect setting for our intimate wedding. The accomodations were outstanding and Pat out did herself with making every detail perfect. The Sunday morning breakfast was to die for. I honestly think it couldn't have been better. I recommend this inn to anyone who just needs a different experience from hotel life to a glamour wedding. Thanks Pat for making our special day even more special.

I don't remember such attention to detail as I've seen at The Old Buggy Inn. The B&B oozes charm, cleanliness, and hospitality. The beds are so comfortable you can't help but enjoy a good night's rest. And Pat is the most amazing chef. Clearly she wants nothing more than for her guests to experience the best getaway possible. Check! I always look forward to a night (or two) at The Old Buggy Inn.

My wife and I booked a two night stay at The Old Buggy Inn early last spring. Having never stayed at a B & B before, we did not know what to expect. Pat (the innkeeper) introduced us to a new world that we will be revisiting over and over. The home is beautiful and comfortable with public areas to have coffee, wine, or to read. Our room was both spacious and charming with fluffy white comforters on the bed, and special toiletries in the bathroom. Breakfast was delicious, as were the warm cookies before bedtime. Thank you Pat for a wonderful getaway that we are still talking about. See you again soon.

The Old Buggy Inn is a wonderful find. The room was charming, complete with a romantic gas fireplace and robes we used during our stay. The bed was amazing - the sheets and blankets were freshly ironed and of the highest quality. We sank into the bed and didn't want to leave. Pat, the innkeeper, is a wonderful lady with lots of information about the area and the fascinating history of the house. After enjoying evening appetizers and a glass of wine, we enjoyed relaxing and playing games in one of the large common rooms. Breakfast was a gourmet delight, and the smell of freshly roasted coffee was the perfect way to greet the morning. We have stayed in a lot of B&B's, and we found this to be one of the best! We are eager to come back for a mystery dinner.

My husband and I were lucky enough to stumble on this gem of a bed and breakfast. We have stayed in many B & B's over the years (both stateside and in Europe) and have never had an experience close to the Old Buggy Inn's. From the minute you arrive, Pat crafts a getaway never to be forgotten. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the inn itself has been restored to the grandeur of long ago. Each room is warm and inviting - you will marvel at the period antiques. Every detail of your stay is carefully thought out and creatively presented. Breakfast is worth the price of the room! A feast for the eyes and stomach, Pat whips up a different concoction every morning using antique dishes, linens, and crystal. Never have we eaten so elegantly at a B & B. We could go on and on, but suffice it to say, don't miss the opportunity of a lifetime - book a stay and relax - everything will be perfect!
