Vicki and Neeraj were friendly, helpful, and gracious. The cottage was beautiful, cozy, close to the sites, and easy to get to. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was delicious and filling. Great!

This B&B touts itself as a 'green' option and it does not disappoint on this note. Everything from linens to soaps to breakfast are all-natural or organic. The breakfasts are quite good and include mixed fresh fruit. The innkeeper (Vicki) makes sure the day's menu accommodates your tastes, food sensitivities and/or allergies before cranking up the stove. Coffee & hot teas are offered with breakfast but not any juices (and we asked). The Zen Garden Room was spacious, decorated simply & had lots of windows looking out at the front garden. The bed was quite comfortable. No TV or clock in the room. The bathroom was bright and had a nice tub/shower, however the sink & mirror were outfitted for shorter persons (under 6' tall). Humid weather during our stay made our room stuffy, even with the central A/C on, so we requested a oscillating fan so we could sleep comfortably. Both innkeepers seemed "removed". Neither were home when we arrived so we were provided a numerical code to let ourselves in. We had to contact Vicki by cell phone to let her know we had arrived & to ask about the oscillating fan. We saw Neeraj only momentarily during our visit and that meeting seemed to be by accident. Apparently, both have jobs or obligations outside of the B&B. We are used to being personally greeted by innkeepers, shown our room, various amenities pointed out, so forth. We had long chats with Vicki right before & after breakfast but rarely saw her, otherwise, even in the evenings. They have two very sweet, friendly dogs. We must point out that the house is on a steep hill so there are long, steep outside steps both front & back with no noticeably easier alternative to get to the house. If you have trouble with steps or are bringing bulky luggage, this could present some difficulty.
It sounds as if you had a nice stay with us. We strive to give our guests lots of freedom and not the requirement of a special check in time. Our decor is markedly different from most B&B and most of our guests find the lack of frills quite refreshing. I'm surprised that you were not comfortable in your room. We've never had anyone not cool enough in this room. We are very often here, but do not spend all our time in the B&B. And of course are always here in the mornings and evenings, and available by phone to answer your questions and meet your needs. I just spent a half hour or more - it's 5:00 - with lovely guests, getting them all settled in and making dinner reservations for them.

I've stayed at the Asheville Green Cottage numerous times over the last 5-6 years. I generally try to stay at B & Bs instead of hotels because I like the individuality of the lodgings and the innkeepers, so I've stayed at quite a few over the years, and AGC is one of my favorites. It's a wonderful change of pace from the typical, flowery Victorian style of most B & Bs. I never stay anywhere else when I go to Asheville, which is about once a year. Vicki and Neeraj are friendly and attentive and the breakfasts are delicious. The inn is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood that's very convenient to the Biltmore and 5-10 minutes away from downtown. As with most B & Bs, each of the inn's four rooms is decorated in a unique style and all are very comfortable. Unlike most B & B's, however, they feature eco-friendly mattresses, bedding, towels, and toiletries and are decorated simply (though not plainly). I can't recommend this place highly enough.

It's always such a great experience when a stay at a B and B exceeds your expectations. We recently stayed with Vicki and Neeraj (in the Africa room) and it was a wonderful experience. My wife and I have stayed in B and Bs all over the country. The bottom line is you want a very comfortable bed, a clean overall home, good food and hopefully good conversation. Asheville Green Cottage had all of that and more. It was a great stay and we highly recommend this B and B.
