5 out of 5Great getaway!
November 26, 2012
A great getaway for our extended holiday weekend! We found the cottage to be nice and relaxing. The bed was very comfortable and provided a great night's rest. The Keurig coffee maker was awesome, and the laundry room was useful during our stay. The inn is located with easy access to the highway and is close to dining, shopping and entertainment.

The seashore cottage is done comfortably yet with a strong feeling of the ocean waves lapping at the door. The cottage is impeccably clean and private with all the comforts of home. It was difficult to leave to tour the sites of Independence which were a very short ride (and walkable distance) away

The resemblance to the seaside I remember from childhood and the Beach Cottage was like being transported back in time. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the wonderfully, relaxing seaside accommodations. It was also nice to wake up and pop in the custom coffee flavors of the Keurig Coffee Maker. Since my husband's taste and mine differ so much, the added courtesy of endless choices was a much appreciated luxury. The cozy little fireplace added a little ambiance to our evening later that night, while we sipped our coffee and reminisced about childhood memories invoked by the beautifully, simple, beach mural in the bedroom. The whole cottage was nothing less than picturesque, with a inviting personality all of it's own and somewhere I will look forward to "vacationing" again soon. I can't stress enough how amazing it was to step from the porch in the city, to the seaside just beyond the doorway. It was almost like finding our own little Narnia hiding in Independence! The service was more than wonderful, Innkeepers Melanie and Perry Johnson, were very warm, gracious, and friendly hosts, making us feel as though we were family members that had come home after a long journey. Just the sort of feeling anyone would look for in such a personalized and cozy setting. I also have to here mention the Main House, with it's old fashion grandeur. How a building can be so large and have so much history in it's walls, and yet feel so much like home, is beyond me, yet Melanie and Perry have done just that. We are so looking forward to seeing the rest of the Main House returned to it's former glory after restorations have been finished. Thank you Melanie and Perry for your impeccable hospitality and the love that we felt while with you! Can't wait to come back and see you!

Light, airey, fanciful and fun, featuring birds in flight. A perfect room to represent the young heiress, Margery Stone, daughter of Napolean B. Stone, original builder of the home. Miss Stone had many suitors in her day. Using her engagement ring, she left her prefered list of gentleman inscribed in the window of the dining room just below. A depiction of her and her favored suitors adorns the fireplace in the front parlor.

This spacious room at the front of the house has a queen sized bed, WiFi service, flat screen TV, built-in closets and dresser.
