My daughters and I explored Independence, MO and enjoyed the opportunity of staying in this Bed and Breakfast. We hope to stay there again next year. The family is blessed with a hospitable nature and talent in preparing different types of breakfasts. They were able to guide me through the town knowing that I had my two little girls with me. We enjoyed the Beach Cottage, it was perfect.

My husband and I spent two nights in the Shirley Gamble Room. We stayed over the Veterans Day holiday. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was very nice too. Melanie and Perry were very friendly and welcoming. Melanie's breakfasts were filling and delicious! Melanie was wonderful about accommodating my dietary restrictions. The inn is located near a lot of attractions and restaurants. We had such a nice and relaxing time. We highly recommend this inn to others. We will definitely be returning in the future.

My wife and I were traveling from Denver to Florida and stayed at the Silver Heart Inn. We arrived on Thanksgiving around 6:00pm. We asked Melenie if she could recommend a place to eat. Without a thought, she offered to make us a turkey dinner. We didn't want her to go out of her way, but she insisted. What a meal, all the fixings, turkey, garlic mashed potatoes, dressing, cranberries, and a slice of pecan pie. We though traveling on Thanksgiving would mean missing the holiday with friends and family, we were wrong. Melanie treated us just like family and made us feel very welcome. I can't say enough about our experience at the Silver Heart Inn. The next morning the breakfast was better than the dinner the night before. Owning the Inn was a life long dream of hers and it shows. If you want a place to stay that is friendly and special, this is it.

The owners were exceptional and made the experience comfortable as well as memorable. I met a friend at the Inn for the weekend. Melanie suggested the Shirley & Roy Gamble Rooms sharing a bathroom which worked out perfectly for us. Rooms were very nice with comfortable beds. Coffee, tea & cold beverages available outside our rooms. We were served a delicious breakfast on the patio both mornings. We spent a lot of time at the Inn in the backyard visiting and playing ball with our little dogs. It's a nice walk to the square in Independence. Melanie & Perry suggested dinner at Café Verona on the square, the atmosphere & food was outstanding. Silver Heart Inn is a great place to stay. Wishing you continued success! Kelly & Dan
Your kind words are much appreciated! We take much pride in our efforts to meet the unique needs of each guest. The suite that you enjoyed has been very popular for groups traveling together, but requiring separate rooms. The added privacy has been commented on by other guests who have stayed. The grounds are enjoyable both during the day and especially evenings as the courtyard is lit with twinkle lights providing a charming atmosphere. Your trip was during some lovely weather and eating Al Fresco certainly made it very enjoyable. There is nothing like a nice mug of coffee in the outdoors. Please, come again, we would enjoy seeing you again!

My husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary here and it was such a fantastic way to celebrate! Service was amazing, beds were comfortable, and food was incredible!! Melanie the innkeeper when finding out I was on a diet and trying to stick with it even on vacation went out of her way to make sure to help me to stick to my goal. She cut my portions back every morning and even talked to me about the ingredients that went into each breakfast every morning! It really helped me to relax and not stress about my diet during my stay there!! What my husband and I also loved was how she and Perry also made so many suggestions of thing we could do and places we would enjoy while in town. We would definitely recommend the place! We will definitely be going back there again!!
Your stay was very special to us also. One of the greatest joys of inn keeping is the personal connection we have with our guests. Each guest needs are different and we try to carefully balance privacy with attention to details. Guests often remark on the excellent guest service they have received. There are many activities to choose from located near the Inn. You had a the benefit of an entire week, enjoyed many activities, and still there will be much to explore in Independence on your return visit. We are happy to hear you are looking forward to your next visit with us. It was good to hear the diet went well; I was glad to help.

Our recent one night stay in Independence was enhanced by the gracious hospitality found at The Silver Heart Inn. Melanie shared some of the history of the home which added to our interest. Our room was large, airy and efficiently cooled, which was important to us in 95 degree temps. Many extras: refrigerator, coffee maker, snacks etc. Large, luxurious bathroom. Hearty breakfast, no need for lunch! JW
Whether your stay is one night or multiple nights, your comfort is of the utmost importance. Our guests have told us that the rooms are very inviting, and exceptionally spacious. We choose luxury linens to pamper our guests and give the best nights rest possible. Each room has independence cooling so it will be "just right". I'm so glad that after a weary day of traveling in the heat you were able to settle into a cool room and soft bed.

We spent our 20th anniversary here in July, 2013. They made our dinner reservations, gave us directions, and were very freindly. The breakfast was great, alot of food and very good, felt like a King. Highly recommend this to all my friends and co-workers. Thanks agan to Melanie and Perry.
We are so honored when guests choose to stay with us for such special occasions. It is our belief that going above and beyond for our guests is the standard expectation. Thank you for sharing that you were well cared for and you left feeling like a "king". The best compliment you could give is that you will highly recommend us to family and friends.

This lovely inn is Independence's best kept secret! There's so much history and being able to stay felt like participating in the story of the beautiful house. Hostess Melanie was sweet in her greeting and though I arrived much later than anticipated, she was very gracious and even had a small welcoming snack and drink waiting. Lovely touch and made settling in as if I were coming home! The room was very comfortable and I slept like a baby. I had my own bathroom which was handicap accessible. With that in mind, this Inn is a great place for anyone who may have special requirements such as wheelchairs or other disabled needs. I enjoyed my stay and wouldn't hesitate to book again when I'm out that direction!
It was a joy hosting you. I'm glad that you found our amenities and services to your liking. It is always our goal to exceed our guests expectations. We do our very best to cater to any special requests and needs. Thank so very much and we look forward to your next visit with us.

A great getaway for our extended holiday weekend! We found the cottage to be nice and relaxing. The bed was very comfortable and provided a great night's rest. The Keurig coffee maker was awesome, and the laundry room was useful during our stay. The inn is located with easy access to the highway and is close to dining, shopping and entertainment.
An innkeeper's greatest reward is to hear that guests felt at home and relaxed in their surroundings. The cottage is one of our little secret hideaways that once you have stayed in it, you always want to the next time you come. Silver Heart Inn is nicely situated to all activities, events, and eateries. Do come again, we will have the cottage ready for you.

The seashore cottage is done comfortably yet with a strong feeling of the ocean waves lapping at the door. The cottage is impeccably clean and private with all the comforts of home. It was difficult to leave to tour the sites of Independence which were a very short ride (and walkable distance) away
Thank you for posting such a lovely description of the "feeling" inside the cottage. That is exactly what we were aiming for when we created it for our guests! It is good that you did take some time to see the many interesting sights and activities that Independence has to offer. We would love to have you stay with us again. See you soon...

The resemblance to the seaside I remember from childhood and the Beach Cottage was like being transported back in time. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the wonderfully, relaxing seaside accommodations. It was also nice to wake up and pop in the custom coffee flavors of the Keurig Coffee Maker. Since my husband's taste and mine differ so much, the added courtesy of endless choices was a much appreciated luxury. The cozy little fireplace added a little ambiance to our evening later that night, while we sipped our coffee and reminisced about childhood memories invoked by the beautifully, simple, beach mural in the bedroom. The whole cottage was nothing less than picturesque, with a inviting personality all of it's own and somewhere I will look forward to "vacationing" again soon. I can't stress enough how amazing it was to step from the porch in the city, to the seaside just beyond the doorway. It was almost like finding our own little Narnia hiding in Independence! The service was more than wonderful, Innkeepers Melanie and Perry Johnson, were very warm, gracious, and friendly hosts, making us feel as though we were family members that had come home after a long journey. Just the sort of feeling anyone would look for in such a personalized and cozy setting. I also have to here mention the Main House, with it's old fashion grandeur. How a building can be so large and have so much history in it's walls, and yet feel so much like home, is beyond me, yet Melanie and Perry have done just that. We are so looking forward to seeing the rest of the Main House returned to it's former glory after restorations have been finished. Thank you Melanie and Perry for your impeccable hospitality and the love that we felt while with you! Can't wait to come back and see you!
There are so many exciting and wonderful things going on here at the Inn. Each room is a destination all its own. We hope each guest connects to their experience the way that you did. It's wonderful to immerse yourself in your escape and fully enjoy the experience. Many other guests have told us they love the cottage as well. When you return we will have undoubtedly added something new as we are continually seeking to improve. You will love what we have done in the outdoor courtyard and screen porch recently. Safe travels until your return.
