The stately three-story 1915 Georgian Colonial mansion sits on 22 acres and is surrounded by two crescent-shaped ponds, historically known as Crescent Lake. The Inn was meticulously renovated in 1997. While the architectural integrity of the Inn was preserved, all of the rooms were completely modernized.

Anniversary getaway

4.8 on May 12, 2015

What a wonderful weekend! We haven't gone away for our anniversary in 13 years. Our stay was perfect. We stayed in the garden room and enjoyed a private hot tub. Took a ride in the bass boat and watched the local wildlife. Beverly and Craig were very welcoming and worked with my special diet.

Fantastic B&B

Probably the best B&B my wife and I ever stayed at. The owners treated us like family and the facility and grounds are outstanding!

Restful and Relaxing

The Inn and grounds were beautiful. Loved the paddle boats and trail around the property. Our suite was very relaxing and we really enjoyed the hot tub and reading nook. Breakfast was nicely prepared and yummy. We needed to rest and the Inn was a perfect spot.

Southern Plantation in the middle of Missouri? WOW!!!

4.8 on April 27, 2015

WOW is the best way to describe the first impression of this beautiful inn! After driving 3 1/2 hours, it was refreshing to pull up to the stunning grounds of the B& romantic and serene! The trees, landscaping and inn were beautifully maintained. We were met by Beverly, the innkeeper, who is a bundle of energy and information, cheerfully answering any questions we had. She invited us to check out the other rooms that were not yet occupied, which was super fun! We stayed in the Tuscany, which is a gorgeous/private/immaculate room that had everything we needed to make our stay wonderful. We were there for our anniversary, and had ordered the anniversary package. Therefore, we were greeted with roses, chocolate covered strawberries and chilled sparkling cider...SPOILED! If you are looking to "get away from it all" and reconnect, I would definitely recommend this inn. And, I would certainly think it would be the perfect spot for a small wedding...the grounds are stunning...and who doesn't like a romantic boat ride on the lake?

First of many stays

4.8 on April 26, 2015

This B&B was perfect for our getaway on my birthday. We stayed in the "Ballroom Suite" and ordered the "Romance" Package which included a bottle of champagne, two keepsake flutes, a dozen chocolate covered strawberries, a rose flower bouquet, bubble bath and breakfast served to our room. The bed was comfortable and there was an intimate sitting area with a fireplace and mini refrigerator. The on suite bathroom is accommodating and luxurious. The only thing I was skittish about was the glass double doors that allows very little privacy while you use the restroom. Other than that everything in our room was perfect. Although you may order supper delivered, pizza or Chinese....we dined in Smithville at Justus Drugstore Restaurant, and it was worth the drive. Make reservations two weeks out to ensure a table. Back at the B&B there is a plethora of DVDs to choose from along with complimentary cookies, sodas and treats. There is also wine and beer honor system if you choose to have a glass of wine before bed. Be sure to walk the trail to "Kissing Point" behind the property, and if you have time relax in the hot tub. We are excited for another relaxing and romantic trip back this summer. The Inn keepers are very caring and accommodating. They really care about your comfort and experience. Our only recommendations are that they revise their breakfast plans, although ours wasn't terrible, it could have been better for the price. Perhaps included a menu of different choices. Even if it's only two or three options. :)

30 Years of marriage, what a great place to spend it.

My husband and I spent our 30th anniversary at the inn. We were completely surprised by the chilled champagne, wonderful chocolate dipped strawberries and the beautiful roses waiting for us when we arrived. Our room was just perfect, thoroughly enjoyed the private entrance and hot tub. Had dinner at Ventana grill in downtown Excelsior, it was excellent. The only change I might make would be to have a king size bed instead of a queen. Looking forward to our next stay at the inn. The Bohnerts are very kind, helpful people. They have done a fabulous job with the inn.

Inn on Crescent Lake worth it

What a beautiful place to take my wife for our anniversary. It is a class act. Secluded, well kept, and beautifully decorated. My wife kept saying what a talent they must have to decorate the way they did. On arrival the rose bouquet and scrumptious chocolate covered strawberries were perfect. The first morning breakfast in our room was a special touch. Then the second morning we ate in the common area but everyone had their own table. Much more intimate that way than being all at the same table. Their meal recommendations for eating out were excellent, too. It would be a great place for an extended stay.

We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before. Craig was really nice and gave a great explanation about things around the place! The staff was so nice to us! The room was clean and all set up by the time we checked in.
