The owner, Richard, makes you feel welcome the moment you step into the mansion. He is very accommodating. Richard starts his guests with a five-course breakfast that will amaze you. In the evening, he offers wine and chocolates. The rooms are all splendid, and they each have a private bath. If you need to get away from the stress in your life, this is the place to stay.

This gorgeous period mansion is a MUST stay. The house is beautiful, the rooms are absolute luxury, the meal is amazing, and Richard is a fantastic host. He has thought of every possible detail, from a fridge filled with an array of beverages 24/7, to nightcaps and turndown service, dinner recommendations (Signatures!), luxury bathrobes, and TV's available upon request. My husband and I hope to stay again in the near future.

Grandpa and Grandma took the kids for the weekend so we spent the weekend in Winona, Minnesota. What a great place to do things, see things, and rest. The Alexander Mansion Met and exceeded our expectations and we do not hesitate to recommend it! Clean, classic, spacious, lots of common areas, great eating and the hose, Richard, was great.

July 07, 2012
We were truly delighted with our experience here. The home - a true mansion - has been lovingly restored in historic detail by people devoted to doing it right. The rooms were sumptuous, the breakfast a tour de force, and for the proprietor Richard this is clearly an avocation , not merely a vocation. He took exquisite care of us, including thoughtful attention to our various dietary needs. Winona is a charming town, and this was a perfect getaway for us.
5 out of 5We loved this house!
April 06, 2012
Some of the rooms, one in particular has a very small, but authentic bed. I wouldn't want to sleep with the 2 of us in sucha small bed but the couple who had that room loved it!! The house is gorgeous and the 5 course breakfast was very special and delicious. Richard is wonderful host and really loves his home. We will be back!
