  • Looking at Turning Waters Bed, Breakfast and Adventure from the front lawn
The River Room Master Suite. Step out of your canoe or kayak and feel the river stone press smooth against your bare feet. Winding currents, low hanging Silver Maple trees and encapsulating sand-stone bluffs will bring you back to the time of Chief Wapasha’s people as they sat quietly, ever watching from the grassy banks of The Great River. Designed to be an all inclusive escape; this room -like the ancient river it reflects- will be your reminder that all things are connected and flow into each other.
The Coniferous Master Suite. This room is an experience under the green needle canopy of the ancient white pine forest of Northern Minnesota. A transcendent experience
among these whispering pines will leave you refreshed and relaxed; and with a jacuzzi, fireplace and flatscreen it is an environment that is hard to leave, but even better to come back to.
The Wetlands Room. With grasscloth walls and pond like subtleties, you’ll feel like a small child again surrounded by the cattails and river bulrushes of a Minnesota marsh. Created with simplicity in mind, this room along with the prairie room is perfect for the “get up and go traveler,” “road weary business man,” or all around lover of quiet. This is an adjoining room to the Coniferous Master Suite. It has a private bathroom down the hall.
The Great Lakes Suite. This room gives the impression that it was made for a wealthy man from 19th century Duluth. A man that made it big in the iron boom, but still holds a great love for the outdoors and the natural world. Rolled over in the giant waves of the Great Lakes you will find peace along its lapping shores.
The Prairie Room. When walking into this room, you'll get the sense of stepping onto the Great Plains of the once mighty buffalo, with yellows and greens to create a landscape for bees and dragonflies to bob and weave above in the high summer sun. This room is my favorite. It has a private bathroom down the hall.
Relax in our spacious commons room. Grab a book off the library shelves, pop in a movie, help yourself to complimentary wine, or take a well-deserved nap.
Kayak the Mississippi River. We'll lead you on an adventure navigating the backwaters and main channel of the Mighty Mississipp'.
Kayak the Mississippi River. We'll lead you on an adventure navigating the eagle rich backwaters and main channel of the Mighty Mississipp'. And yes, those are two eagles on the shore.
Kayak the Mississippi River in winter. Let us guide you on a tour winter, spring, summer, and fall.

    Fantastic stay!

    April 14, 2013

My husband and I chose the River Room Suite for a weekend stay. This is an old Victorian house renovated to be very contemporary, which turned out beautifully. Bedding was so comfortable. I had asked about breakfast in our room which was no problem at all. Only drawback here was no table/chairs in the room to sit at. This was truly minor. Food was brought up on a nice stand and there is comfy seating in the room. We chose to eat in the dining room on the second morning which was great too. Michael was a personable, generous host. The best thing about the whole weekend were the breakfasts! These were some of the best we've ever had and we've probably been to close to a hundred B and B's. Creme brulee oatmeal, gorgeous fresh fruit, sausages to die for, and cinnamon twist bacon. MMMMM Also fresh organic milk and juice to wash it all down. There were only two things I would suggest for improvement and these are relatively minor. This B and B does not have satellite/cable. I would presume this is to promote a relaxing stay- which worked for us- but we also like to be able to watch TV in quiet without the kids interrupting. The other thing which might be beyond their control is that we were able to hear everything going on downstairs from in our room. Most likely the result of the old house where everything echoes throughout. Neither of these things hindered our weekend and I would most DEFINITELY go back for another stay. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast to any couples looking for quality time together or just an overall quiet, relaxing getaway.
