Walnut Street Inn
-
This is the McCann Room on the second floor of the main house. A queen-sized, four poster rice bed in front of your own fireplace will make this room one you will ask for again and again. There are two other rooms on the second floor (the O'Neill and Rosen) and a beautiful parlor to share. Bring your friends and enjoy the parlor together.
The O'Neill Room is one of four rooms that offers a two-person jacuzzi tub, fireplace at the foot of the bed, 66-channel cable TV with VCR, CD player and atmosphere for relaxing or romance. In addition this room has a private balcony and a white, four poster iron canopy bed. This is your host's favorite hideaway and we hope it will be yours as well.
In 1988 the Walnut Street Inn was Springfield's first Designer Showcase Home. The Rosen room, shown here, has remained so popular that in 11 years the theme of the room hasn't changed. With a corporate rate of $79 and $99 for couples, this room offers beauty and value.
Breakfast a the Walnut Street Inn is often the highlight of your stay. Not only is the food exemplary, the table conversation is fun and often lasting friendships are made. If you are seeking seclusion, we will deliver the same gormet breakfast to your room. Enjoy a fireside breakfast before you dress for the day!

Walnut Street Inn, voted best Inn in the Ozarks - four years in a row, is a lovely example of the warmth and charm of a Queen Ann Victorian home. We are an urban oasis for our guests. It is in a nationally registered historic district and within walking distance to shops, fine dining, theaters, symphony performances, Cardinals AA Baseball, and much more. While the guestrooms are decorated with the mellow warmth of antiques, every imaginable modern amenity is tucked away to create an elegant, but comfortable environment. Gary, Paula, Catherine and the attentive staff invite you to sit a spell in the wicker porch swing or read a book by the fire...Have a lazy soak in an antique claw-foot or a two-person jacuzzi tub...Greet the morning with breakfast on your private balcony...Or spend the day meandering through the hills and lakes of the Ozarks before snuggling into a cozy down comforter for a night of sweet dreams.

5 out of 5The best B & B EVER
May 01, 2013
My daughter and I have stayed and many B & B in many states and this one is by far the best one. The home itself is something to see with its history well stated; the rooms are decorated beautifully; breakfast served to our room and was delicious; the innkeeper even carried our bags upstairs and the entire staff was so pleasant and accomodating; this is a welcome change from a hotel/motel even the best in the area are not as nice as The Walnut Street Inn.

4.2 out of 5Perfect!
July 20, 2012
I travel from Texas twice a year for 4 days to attend graduate school. I found The Walnut Street Inn online and made a reservation because the cost and location were highly comparable to an average hotel. The stay far exceeded my expectations and the owner and staff were accommodating, helpful and went out of their way to make me feel welcome and comfortable. What a wonderful place and within walking distance of the downtown area. I will be booking again next time I am in Springfield. Thank you very much for such a comfortable stay.
4.4 out of 5Whole family was happy!
January 26, 2012
Me, my husband and our 21 yr. old daughter all enjoyed Walnut Street Inn! All hubby needs is free WiFi, a good bed at a fair price and lots of delicious food for breakfast---he got it! Our college sorority daughter got her own queen bed (in the same room) in a really cool old house she loved exploring, also next to an awesome college campus with her same sorority's house one block over. She really liked getting her own key and the freedom to stay out later than us if she wanted and enter the secure locked entry in the back on her own schedule. Mom had the time of her life!! We all stayed together in the Benton Room in the high-ceiling, skylighted "attic" and it was huge! I had my dormer to sit, relax, and look out from, husband had a large desk, and there was a large TV sitting area---those were just a few of the areas in the Benton Room you could enjoy. It was so quiet, cozy and serene up there---I long for it even now. Attention to detail is everywhere and cleanliness was exceptional even in the large private bathroom. I loved talking with the owner about the era, carriage stones, their antiques and I just made the delicious breakfast they served out of the Missouri Inns Cookbook I bought there and they were featured in. I can't wait to go back and visit relatives in Springfield and stay at Walnut Street Inn. Loved every minute and every inch!
5 out of 51800's meet 2011, Great Experience
December 07, 2011
The experience was wonderful. A neat thing I found was an algebra book published in 1866 and a lady signed it aug of 1874 on inside cover and signed it nov 1874 and end of book, and several math problems were worked in the book. The book was a decoration on top of the fireplace in our room, and the host had no idea such a book was part of his collection. This is an example of the living history of this what seemed like a living museum. What also impressed me was the attention to detail of everthing from cleanliness, interior decorating, and amenities. All of the rooms are lovely, and my personal favorite was the room located at the top floor of the main house that had the high ceilings and sky lights, (I believe it is called "The Benton") Don't expect a huge buffett for breakfast but rather a delightful personalized entree' with gourmet and great service and conversation with the host, who is an encyclopedia of Ozark History and local information
5 out of 5AMAZING!!!

This B&B was amazing. I have done a bit of travelling recently, and this is by far the best place I have stayed at. My room was extraordinarily clean, well maintained and spacious, pure luxury as far as I'm concerned. Everything about the house was really cute and quaint. The breakfast was indulgent, very delicious, and the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. And, importantly (from a student's point of view), it was all very affordable! If I'm ever in Springfield again, I will definitely be staying here!
