Approaching this circa 1850 French Chateau with mansard roof you will notice a placard on the front of the building with the name Charles Hertich and the date 1850. Dr. Charles Hertich, one of Ste. Genevieve's first full time physicians, purchased this property in 1850 for the sum of $1,800.00. At that time, only the northern portion of the structure existed. The southern portion was completed at a later date. The building served both as the Hertich family home and as an office for the physician. The exterior of the building looks much as it did in the 1850s, but the interior was totally and lovingly renovated in 1999. As you raise the latch on the wooden gate at the northeast corner of the property, your eyes are immediately drawn to the door through which members of the Ste. Genevieve community entered for their appointments with Dr. Hertich. Although the door is no longer functional, it bears the etched H that now serves as the logo for Dr. Hertich's House. As you step up and to your left you encounter the long covered front porch. The porch, with a warmth and charm of its own, affords one of the best views of Main Street. Also captured in your gaze from this viewpoint is the elegant and stately Inn St. Gemme Beauvais just across the street.
This three room suite is tastefully decorated with a sage and dark cream color scheme. On the walls are turn of the century photographs of the town of Ste. Genevieve and it¿s inhabitants. The fireplace is at the foot of the king bed; the double whirlpool tub has over 20 jets, waterfall and aromatherapy.
Decorated in shades of berry, sage, and pink, this three room suite honors the ancestral heritage of both owners, Mark and Connie Smith, and the innkeeper, Janet Joggerst. You will find some photographs dating back to the early 1800¿s. The fireplace is at the foot of the king bed; the double whirlpool tub has over 20 jets, waterfall and aromatherapy.
Tastefully done in hunter green, plaid, and beige. the six foot diameter hunter green double Jacuzzi tub with waterfall and aroma therapy and the fireplace at the foot of your king size bed make this a perfect room.
Love Notes is tastefully appointed in white lace, burgundy and gold accents. The fireplace is at the foot of the king bed and the circular double whirlpool tub has a 6-foot diameter. Over 20 jets, waterfall and aromatherapy help make this the most romantic and relaxing whirlpool ever made! The suite is decorated with musical instruments, music scores, old 78's, and antique radios.
As the name implies, this room honors Dr. Charles Hertich and a variety of antique medical supplies will be found throughout the room. A 13 inch color cable TV is perched on the wall across from the queen sized sleigh bed.

This B&B is across the street from the Beauvais Inn St. Gemme and is owned by the same people. The Beauvais Inn had burned last February and they are still rebuilding. This was a nice B & B, but the outside could use a coat of paint and a few repairs. The innkeepers are very nice, but are not ones to spend much time with the patrons. We stayed in the Memories Suite which was a large 3-room suite with a king-size bed, 6’ double whirlpool tub, a fireplace, frig, microwave, coffee maker, and robes. They also included a “wind machine”, but with the ceiling fan and extra fan in the room, we did not need it to keep out any noise, such as trains. The sheets were polyester, which was unusual, but quite comfy. Janet served wine, cheese, and crackers at 5 pm, which was quite enjoyable. We also used the huge Jacuzzi, which was very relaxing. Breakfast was served in the room promptly at the time we requested, and it was excellent – juice, bacon, toast, warm poppy seed bread, cantaloupe, and a ham, spinach, and cheese quiche. We made our own coffee. We were not given a choice of where to eat breakfast. We enjoyed our stay here, and would recommend it to other travelers.
