Museum Hill Bed & Breakfast

My husband and I have stayed in several bed and breakfasts and this was definitely one of the best. The house is beautiful. The food was great. Beth did everything she could to make it a great experience. We'll stay there again and recommend it to others.

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway. We are at St. Joe frequently but had never really done the "downtown" experience. We chose this bed and breakfast becuase we wanted a unique and personal downtown stay, and that is exactly what we got! Beth was very helpful and knowledgeable about the home/bed and breakfast as well as the area. The house was just stunning!! There are many treasures to be found inside!

This was my first B&B stay. I couldn't have asked for more. The rooms, food, location, hosts were perfect. I couldn't believe the attention to detail. Movies, snacks, games, wine, beer, soft drinks, coffee, books, robes, footies, and the list goes on and on !! The attractions were all very close. St Joseph has so much to offer. I will return to St. Joseph and Museum Hill B&B soon!!

My daughter and I stayed for a weekend of mother daughter time before her departure to serve our country in the military. We were welcomed by Beth and John as if part of their family and it got better and better. The accommodations were inviting and comfortable and at the same time elegant. The breakfasts were some of the best we've eaten and the history and details of the home impeccable. There are no details left out, it was a remarkable weekend and we will certainly be back as often as possible.

This is a wonderful bed and breakfast! My husband and I met our friends there and we loved this place! It is so homey and welcoming and this is due to the Beth and John. The atmosphere is so much better than staying in a hotel yet Beth went above and beyond to exceed our expectations. There truly is everything there you could need or want. The food is exceptionally good too and Beth provides plenty of it, no skimping on the breakfast! You definitely must stay here!

First experience with a bed and breakfast, met with my 2 sisters for a weekend together. All 3 of us had a wonderful time and the breakfasts were outstanding!!

I was so very lucky to stumble on to the Museum Hill B&B, and even luckier that they were able to accommodate me! Beth is such a lovely person, and it is her love of the B&B and attention to detail that make it so exceptional. Every possible guest need has been meticulously attended to, the food is fabulous, and if you can possibly stay here, it is indeed a wonderful experience. The beautiful architecture, Wifi, snacks/drinks in the well-stocked fridge, vast assortment of books and DVDs, even complimentary "Cherry Mash" candies (an earlier owner invented these famous sweets)--everything is perfect. And Beth is an absolute delight, and loves to share the house's history and offer suggestions of where to visit. Museums galore nearby, and don't miss the beautiful Victorian cemetery, Mount Mora. I can't say enough good things about this B&B!

My husband and i went to the historic town of Saint Joseph MO, since his father grew up there and we were interested in exploring family history in St Jo since 1850. Were planning on staying at a run of the mill hotel along the highway, rest and then get out the addresses and old photos after we got settled. On trip advisor, it had Museum Hill B & B listed with high scores, so we called and inkeeper Beth had a room for us. We checked in and left to get a meal in town, bringing our info with us. We realized that surprise#1 just happened. That was the exact beautiful historic home in which my husband's father was born and raised in. When we returned to the house, we shared this with Beth and she looked at the photo and the window of our room was circled and captioned "Room I was born in". That was surprise #2. Surprise #3 was that such wonderful hosts John and Beth, owners of the inn, had provided a perfect experience with quality everywhere, gourmet breakfast my husband loved, and had done ecerything one could possibly do to have a first class experience. We loved it.

Since moving to SW Missouri 4 years ago, we've tried with 2- or 3-day excursions to explore our new state every chance we get. This time we chose St. Joe, MO, and found Museum Hill online. From the get-go, Beth made us feel welcomed. Our room was inviting and the view from our window was superb. Thanks, Beth, we loved the house tour and sightseeing recommendations. And the breakfasts -- outstanding. So if you want to experience a slice of Missouri history, visit St. Joe and make Museum Hill B&B your "home away from home."

We enjoyed our stay at Museum Hill for our anniversary. It was clearly important to Beth that guests have what they need to be comfortable. The location is great and allowed us to easily visit several museums. Breakfast was excellent--especially enjoyed her banana panackes. Chris & Laura

I stayed at the Museum Hill B&B and I can't remember when I had a better stay! The place is comfortable and beautiful. The caregiver Beth, is a wonderful person, and makes the most awesome breakfast! This is one of the best places to stay! They have EVERYTHING you could possible need or want!

We wanted to find a place close to home that had that feel of home but yet like we were far away of vacation. We chose St Joseph MO. for the deep history of the state and found Museum on the Hill. The Museum Hill B&B is everything you would hope for and more. From the time you walk in you are welcomed as if you were family. Beth is such a great host and we loved her sense of humor. the rooms are spectacular and the breakfast was amazing. In this B&B you have all the amenities that you could possibly need. Great B&B:location, comfort and wonderful hosts. In the center of a historical area with great views. One truly gets the feel of 100 years ago when this Victorian neighborhood was very much "King of the Hill" of a then important city of commerce. Highly recommended

This review for those who usually do hotels and not B&B's. Museum Hill was a great experience. I was on a trip back east from Colorado (took Rt36, great choice) and went thru St. Joseph. As we entered St. Joseph I started calling some of the common hotels as they showed up on my GPS only to find many already booked. I typically do not stay at B&B's but thought I would give it a try. I called Museum Hill, got voice mail and did not leave a message, figured there was no use. About 30 seconds later I got a call back from the innkeeper, Beth. I immediately felt like I was a valued guest even before we met and not just another person who would be walking thru the door like at the typical hotels. As soon as we arrived (about five minutes later), Beth met us at the door, welcomed us in and gave us a quick tour. We had been driving for around 10 hours and were ready for a nice meal. Beth showed us to her library where we were able to review full menus from many of the local restaurants (we were trying to avoid all chain restaurants during the trip). This was great as we didn't want to drive around for another half hour looking for something. We pick one within walking distance and had a nice evening. The room (and whole B&B) was very clean and provided for a home atmosphere and not a quick traveling hotel stop. Breakfast was great (got to set up time of our choice) and brought home some of Beth's homemade Elderberry Jelly. For those who may be traveling through St. Joseph and always do hotels, check this place out. I had a great stay and Beth is a wonderful innkeeper.

We had a girl's weekend with childhood friends and it was perfect for us. The small kitchen and library near our rooms served as a gathering place and was perfect for our group. Beth gave us a great tour and history of the house. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious and our hosts had thought of everything!

It was our first stay at a bed and breakfast, but it was great! Beth made us feel at home. The room and guest kitchen was stocked with anything you might need. Breakfast was the best part! Delicious and very filling!

My 2 sisters and i went for a wedding and was greatly surprised at the B&B. The decor was wonderful. The service was outstanding. They had thought of everything a person might need and it was available to us. The food was out of this world. Will definitely go again!

Our innkeeper, Beth, was the consummate hostess, catering to our every need and making us feel very much at home. She's a warm and lovely person plus a wonderful cook who served a delicious breakfast featuring a pastry, fresh fruit cup and a gourmet frittata. She even catered to my cousin's request for a gluten-free breakfast. We particularly appreciated all the extra little amenities in the bathroom, including shower gels, lotions and special washcloths to remove make up. Guests have their own kitchen upstairs stocked with all sorts of snacks and beverages. It's right next to a charming and comfortable sitting room with TV, games and books where I could camp out for weeks. It's the best home away from home that I could ever imagine.

My two brothers and our wives spent two great nights at Museum Hill B&B and enjoyed the sights of St. Joseph, MO. Great stay with excellent food, rooms, and wonderful service from our Innkeeper Beth. Would stay again.

Having stayed at many B&B's my wife and I were more than pleased with the excellent 2-night stay we just had at Museum Hill Bed and Breakfast in St. Joseph, Missouri. Our hostess, Beth Courter, made us very comfortable in every way that a hostess should. The home is beautifully furnished and feels warm and inviting. The location is tops, beds are comfortable and breakfast is 5 star. We look forward to coming back and staying with Beth and John. You can't go wrong at Museum Hill Bed and Breakfast.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Museum Hill Bed & Breakfast! The highlight was the graciousness of our hostess and her preparation/presentation of the breakfasts and evening anniversary meal. Beth was easy to talk with and very informative about the history of the home and St Joseph area. We hope to return again and stay in a different room just because of the variety. Our 47th Anniversary will be quite memorable due to our stay.

From the minute we got to Museum Hill I was impressed. We showed up early and Beth welcomed us in with no problem. She gave us a tour and I was overwhelmed by the little extras provided from a fully stocked mini-kitchen to the choices of body wash and lotion, etc. in the bathroom. The decor and furniture are absolutely beautiful! Everything was spotless! The absolute favorite part of our stay was the breakfast! Unique and hardy, fruit literally fresh from the vine! The presentation was superb! We were asked what time we'd like to eat and if there was anything we'd prefer not to have. It literally was like staying at your favorite aunt's house. There was a festival going on just blocks away and so sitting on the front porch you could hear live folk music. What a getaway paired with attending a wedding just a couple hours from home. Thanks for all at Museum Hill for making this special.

We have visited several B&Bs, and none have offered as many "comforts" of home. A beautiful Victorian mansion, Beth and her husband offer everything under the sun to make your stay comfortable. The food was both beautiful and delicious. We stayed an unexpected extra night and that necessitated us moving to a different room. The first room was "Emma's Rose" and it was perfect. The second evening was spent in the "Ernest Chase" room which was quite small. My husband called it the "cubicle". At your disposal is also a library and fully equipped kitchen. These two rooms were wonderful and truly added the extra comfort and "at-home" feeling that made the stay memorable.

My husband and I stayed at the Museum Hill B&B for a short weekend away. The B&B was wonderful in all areas. Beth & John were very nice. Beth was extremely helpful & informative. She even prepared Weight Watchers friendly breakfasts for us that were incredible.

My husband and I stayed here May 28th for our one year wedding anniversary, I don't think we could have picked a better place! Museum Hill B&B is decorated to perfection, every part of the house is beautifully designed and well thought out. The rooms have everything you could ever need, it truly is a home away from home! My cousin and i stayed at the Museum B&B on May 13th and had a wonderful experience. The bed and bath were great with all of the amenities and more provided. Beth made us a fab breakfast and treated us so warmly. She really goes above and beyond in service, friendliness, and comfort. Not to mention her beautiful gardens and Koi pond. Before arriving town on business I read some reviews online and decided that Museum Hill would be the place to stay. I was extremely satisfied with my stay there. With the warm greetings from Beth and John, to the quiet comfortable rooms and the delicious homemade breakfasts every morning I could not have been happier. I highly recommend staying with Beth John to anyone looking for a quiet weekend getaway to travelling on business.

St. Joseph has wonderful museums and some fascinating restaurants--a delightful place to spend a long weekend. Beth at the Museum Hill B&B made sure we knew about all the places we shouldn't miss. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the breakfast was gourmet.

My wife and I needed a quick getaway for a few days and this proved to be a great choice. Beth and John were great hosts for our 2 night stay. We have stayed at a number of Bed and Breakfasts in the Midwest and this one rates among the best. It is a historical home at the top of a hill with open views of the town. The porch at sunset offers a relaxing place to unwind and the upstairs den was a great place to land in the evening. Definitely appreciated the upstairs guest kitchen (satisfied my late night cravings). The bed was very comfortable. We both love a late breakfast and Beth accommodated us with a delicious meal- Fresh fruit, shirred eggs, blueberry French toast, the home made berry syrup was a great touch. Almost more food then we could eat. Not sure what to see, Beth did a nice job suggesting museums to visit and sights to see in Saint Joseph. If you like wine check out the 3 wineries Jowler Creek, Pirtle and Riverwood just south on I29. If antiques are your thing check out the town of Weston, quaint shops in an old downtown district, most are closed on Monday. All in all a great place to stay with a relaxing atmosphere and wonderful breakfast.

Historic home that once belonged to the inventor of Cherry Mash candy. Thought it was a nice touch that complimentary cherry mash samples were on the dresser. I love the HGTV show "If Walls Could Talk"; this home has been featured on that program. Steeped in history, this Victorian is now lovingly maintained by the current owners, who are very knowledgeable about their own home's history and about the history of St. Joseph. History buffs take note ! A very charming bed and breakfast for a romantic get-away.

Very comfortable stay! You will want for nothing. Beth is very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were wonderful! Plenty of towels, blankets, reading material, and movies. Also, Beth had helpful tips on the area and things to do and suggested restaurants too.

Seven scrapbook enthusiasts stayed the weekend in this beautiful mansion with a spectacular view! The rooms are comfortable and extremely clean! Beth & John graciously set up tables for us to work on our photo albums and then allowed us to leave the tables and works in progress as we retired each evening (early morning)! Beth took us on the tour and history of the home as well as gave helpful instructions. A small kitchenette is located on the second floor with the bedrooms for convenience! The breakfasts are beautifully presented and absolutely delicious! Thanks for such a fun and productive weekend - we accomplished many pages of memories preserved for years to come! My husband and I went to the Museum Hill Bed&Breakfast in St Joseph MO, for our 30th anniversary. We were not disappointed our room, the house was so charming, creatively designed with antqiues and collectibile. Our hostest (Beth) made everyone feel as family and her breakfast was wonderful. A lot of thought was given to the items in the rooms. There were several different types of soaps, lotions, bath oils, etc. It was a very great!

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Museum Hill Bed & Breakfast. It was our first experience at staying at a Bed & Breakfast and we must say that we hope all future experiences equal this one. The house and room are very nicely decortated in victorian style and go above and beyond providing any needs you may have. Beth, the owner, was very accomodating and provided us with a tour and history lesson of the home. She was very good at offering her services while also leaving us to enjoy ourselves. The highlight of the stay was the outstanding breakfasts we enjoyed both mornings we were there, served in elegant style, while willingly sharing her recipes. We will definately stay again on our next trip.

Our two night stay was outstanding. The owners go overboard to make us feel at home and comfortable, including offering an outstanding inventory of snacks and beverages for late night snacks and refreshments. They have done an incredible job in preserving one of St. Joe's historic old homes. You could not ask for a better view of downtown. In fact, our second night here we chose to picnic on the front porch overlooking City Hall and the downtown area. They have sought to preserve the ambiance of the Victorian era, yet still provide every convenience of modern life one may desire. A most wonderful experience. We will be back.

A really neat place for our daughter and her husband to spend their 1-year anniversary. From their reports, they enjoyed the entire experience including an outstanding gourmet meal. A+++++ place all 'round!

The inn was very clean & had interesting furnishings. Beds were very comfortable & full breakfasts exquisite! Beth, our innkeeper, was totally informed about the area and was gracious & fun.

Beth takes a special interest in all our eating requirements and creates nothing but incredible recipies with tasty surips and jellies. The reasonable-priced rooms and the beds are comfortable and georgous in the historical style of the period. Both owners are generous in making sure each guests' needs are met. I cannot imagine a better bed and breakfast than Museum Hill! A special thanks to Beth and John!

My overnight stay at Museum Hill was great - very relaxing and inviting. The decor was period specific, and I greatly appreciated the invitation to sit and use all the period (around 1900's) furniture. The guest kitchen was well stocked, as were all the bedrooms for towels and amenities. The hosts were very inviting, and made me feel comfortable about staying in their home. The porch was one of the highlights, given that it was a beautiful evening. I would glady stay there again.

Beautiful home - our only complaint is that we wish we could have stayed longer. Beth is a great hostess and we really enjoyed learning about the home. The food was outstanding! Hope to visit again soon.

Beth met us at the door and walked us through the history of the house as we viewed each room. After deciding which room we would stay in,(we had 7 ladies so we were priviliged to use the entire house) she then explained the uniqueness of our room. After getting settled, Beth provided us with a wonderful soup and salad supper. Everything was so tasty. Each morning we were presented with a beautiful breakfast fresh from Beth's kitchen. She joined us for grace and explaining how each dish was prepared. When we had questions as to how to operate something, Beth was a call away and dropped what she was doing to help us. She also shared with us the wonderful eating places in the St. Joe area then left us to explore, or just enjoy sitting and visiting or reading in the library, or singing around the piano in the living room. Several of us played some games that she provided. There were many books and pictures which told the history of the area and the houses. We had a great time and would encourage anyone else going that way to stop and relax at this beautiful B and B. Thanks Beth (and John) for being such a great Host and hostess.

What a great place to stay! Our rooms were lovely and abundantly supplied. The beds were comfy. The food was wonderful and elegantly presented. Everything you would need and more was at your fingertips. There is a library with a variety of books and games and a guest kitchen stocked with drinks and snacks. We particularly enjoyed the porch with the great view, other Victorian houses in the neighborhood, the historic architecture of the downtown business district, the antique stores, and the beautiful river walk along the Missouri. Our hostess, Beth, was so friendly and eager to make our stay the absolute best ....and it was!

Retreating with seven women in The Museum was the most relaxing and bonding experience all year. Our inn keeper was gracious, inviting and showered us with day after day of outstanding food and service. She anticipated our every need and was such a joy.

Having spent many summers growing up in St. Joe visiting and staying with relatives, Museum Hill afforded the opportunity to once again be a guest in someone's home. From the comfortable rooms to the home-cooked breakfasts lovingly prepared, there is a comfort and ease not to be found in an institutional setting at any price. The view from the porch in the evening and the stories shared over a bottle of wine call for another time!

We went to St Joseph, Mo for a weekend getaway and to visit historical sites - there are lots of different museums in this area. Stayed at Museum Hill Bed and Breakfast and it was fantastic! A beautiful Victorian home filled with interesting items, and Beth was a wonderful hostess - even gave us some delicious chocolate zucchini bread to take with us in case we got hungry during our sight seeing! Stayed in the Emma's Rose Room and there was such attention to detail! All kinds of shampoo, lotions, etc in case we'd forgotten anything - even a rubber duck for the bathtub! What a delightful, fun touch. We truly enjoyed relaxing on the porch watching a storm roll in one evening and the sun set on another. There is also a library stocked with all kinds of books, puzzles, games, videos, etc etc. Really enjoyed talking with Beth and hearing the history of the house. Delightful place to stay!

This stay made my first bed and breakfast experience an awesome one! The house was historical, which made it very interesting to hear about it's past. Beth, the innkeeper was gracious, pleasant and made us feel right at home. And the breakfast was out of this world!! We enjoyed the local museums and antique malls. I hope to visit again someday.

What a wonderful place to stay! The food and room was wonderful and my every need was taken care of. Having the kitchen filled with a variety of drinks and snacks was an added surprise. The owner was informative, gracious and helpful. I can't think of anything that could be added.

My husband and I went to St Joe to take in the history and museums. Our stay at Museum Hill only added to the historic experience. Staying in an old historic mansion went right along with the wonderful history St Joe has to offer. The room, breakfasts and hospitality were all great. Beth goes out of her way to make sure you have everything you need and everything is to your liking. We were there 3 nights and all were very enjoyable. All 3 breakfasts were wonderfully prepared and served. We will surely refer any of our friends or relatives that are traveling in that direction.

Beth was one of the best innkeepers that I have come across in all of my travels. She went above and beyond what was expected of her and she is a great cook. Very hospitable and made sure that our needs were met. I would highly recommend this inn if you are ever in St. Joseph. In addition, the decor of the house is very interesting. Lots of things to see and lots of interesting rooms. We stayed in Emma Rose Room with a jacuzzi bathtub. Very nice!

Beth, our hostess, loves company and loves her B&B. Museum Hill is constantly and tastefully being improved. Rooms have an historical feel, but all the necessities, including high speed WiFi connections. Great view overlooking the town of St. Joseph, Missouri. Bed was quite comfy, and the breakfast quite tasty.

If you want a nice stay for St. Joe, this is a great place to stay....The Customer Service is outstanding...It is an old Victorian with lots of character, so you need to take that in consideration. the location couldn't be beat, as it is close to so many downtown locations...You can walk to several points of interest. When we were there, they were doing a flee market at the inn, so that was somewhat of a distraction, and we couldn't eat in the nice dining room, but the breakfast itself was great, even though it was a little cozy at the table.

Just returned home from my FIRST EVER B&B experience.... and found myself wishing I could have stayed even longer. This B&B was more than I could have ever thought it would be and look forward (already) to my next visit there. Beth & John were great managers but even better hosts in sharing their home.... it felt just like I was at home. Couldn't have asked for a better experience anywhere!

Our first B&B experience was this weekend in St. Joseph Missouri. Although we weren't exactly sure WHAT to expect, John & Beth exceeded all of our expectations. They really made us understand the B&B experience as well as making us feel totally pampered and cared for and cared about. John even assisted us in traveling to the local pharmacy late one evening to purchase some emergency medications, and Beth assured us she could get a doctor to see me on that late Saturday evening if necessary. They REALLY work 200% to make their home yours and meet EVERY request you could need. It's my PLEASURE to HIGHLY recommend this B&B for your next stay in St. Joseph..... don't even hesitate to book... you won't regret it!

This was one of the most exciting places I have ever stayed the service, and friendlyness was outstanding, we were very comfortable and felt right at home. My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary at the Museum Hill B & B last weekend and we're still talking about it. We arrived and were greeted by Beth, who gave us a tour of the whole house. There is a guest kitchen that is fully stocked with snacks and drinks (including alcoholic beverages), a library, and different rooms to choose from. We stayed in the Spirit of St. Joseph Room, which had a gorgeous view and was beautifully decorated. The B&B is within walking distance of many of the museum's and local attractions. Beth also, suggested some unique restaurants in the area for us to try while we were there. We got up the next morning and Beth served us the most delicious breakfast ever! Beth definately went above and beyond. We highly recommend this B&B, you will not be disappointed, you will actually be amazed at what all you get for a very decent rate. We will be back!

Beth & John were gracious hosts for two weeks at their beautiful Museum Hill Bed and Breakfast. They made my stay like home versus being on the road for business. I had every luxury possible, from a perfectly appointed room to made to order breakfast each morning. The hospitality shown by Beth and John was what made the difference. They accomodated every request and did so graciously and earnestly. I can't say enough good things about this beautiful spot in the Midwest. You have to come check it out. Simply astounding!

Beautiful place. Very comfy and a great place to stay in St. Joe! We only stayed one night and need to return to see all the interesting museums in the town. Beth makes sure that all your needs are anticipated!

We spent 2 nights, and didn't want to leave. The rooms and guest areas were beautifully decorated, and every need was met. Robes, "lotions & potions" in the bath, beverages and snacks in the guest kitchen, a huge library of books and DVDs in the sitting room, fantastic breakfasts, great conversation, lots of info about the area, pictorial history of the restoration, info about the earlier history of the home and more. We definitely would like to return and explore the area further. Innkeepers like Beth and John are why bed and breakfast stays have been a big part of our travels.

They provided a candlight dinner for Valentines day and it was wonderful and very romantic. Nice touch!

I'm usually, based on past experience, leery of B&B's, but this one caught my attention. The innkeepers not only far exceeded my expectations, but I was shocked at how homey and generous they are! Stocked refrigerator outside our room (beer, wine, etc.), snacks galore, etc. The room was filled with little tidbits of items, fun soaps for the clawfoot tub, Neutrogena face wash, socks laying out on the bed so I could curl up comfy with my knitting! These people are going above and beyond the call of duty, in my humble opinion. The breakfast was superb and presented like a fine, well-established restaurant. St. Jo needs to step up to the plate and try to become more of a destination. The many museums are amazing and it's a fun place to visit. I picture a weekend with "girls" drinking wine on the Museum Hill B&B front porch! A job well done!

Our travels landed us in St. Joseph admiring the many victorian homes. Wow - what cool architecture it has. We were surprised to know that there were only 2 B&Bs in town. We decided on Museum Hill after inquiring with Beth (our new favorite B&B hostess). What a delightful experience we had. Its like going to grandmas house to spend the night and waking up to a gourmet breakfast. What a comfortable place with top notch service. Beth - you're the greatest. We went to St. Joseph for a Girls Get-Away and we could not have been better pleased. We spent 2 nights at the Museum Hill B&B and were completely charmed with the rooms and the service. The breakfasts were wonderful; Beth is not only an excellent creative chef, she's a great hostess. We spent our time in St. Joe shopping in the antique malls, we plan to return soon since we failed to do all we wanted to do!

You have got to stop at this Bed & Breakfast in St. Joe's. It has the coziest wonderfully decorated rooms preserved in the booming period of the late 1800's and the breakfasts are to die for. They were the best breakfasts I've ever had in my entire life. Both John and Beth are very welcoming and cater to a travelers every need. A must stay for any couple traveling through this beautiful part of our country. Many beautiful historical buildings surround this B & B !!

My husband and I went to St. Joseph for a night to get away. We found this B&B online and decided to give it a try. We felt very welcome there. The innkeeper had everything we could want. The breakfast was fantastic.

We enjoyed our recent stay at the Museum Hill Bed and Breakfast in St. Joseph, Missouri. The house is nicely restored, with lots of genuine antiques inside. Breakfast was excellent. Beth gave us good tips for enjoying St. Joe. The bed was comfortable, and had a private bath.

We stayed here for our 5 year anniversary for three nights, and we were treated to the nines! The breakfasts were spectacular, the hospitality was unrivaled, and the attention to detail blew me away. There was a fully stocked kitchenette with anything you could need (sewing kit, iron, pop, nibbles, asprin, and on and on), a library with games, dvds, and books galore, and even matches in ziplock on the candles outside on the patio for a romantic sunset! I forgot a scarf, Beth lent me one for day. One of the house's owners was the inventor of the Cherry Mash, and she had them in the room upon arrival. Detail, detail, detail. We stayed at this great B&B on the first day of the St Joseph Trails West festival. It was the weekend of our 19th wedding anniversary. What a great B&B! Everything you need is there--just bring a toothbrush, razor, and a change of clothes! But if you forget the toothbrush and razor, I bet the innkeepers, Beth and John, would gladly find you one, no matter what time it is! When we got back from walking around Trails West, they invited us to pull up some chairs and have a glass of wine while we enjoyed the rest of the Trails West concert from the great view on the front lawn of the house. Perfect end to a great day for us! The house is great--save some time to browse through the binder of clippings about the history of the house--it is really an amazing history. There are so many cool period pictures and furniture, there was always something new to see, every time you look. The food is incredible--it's a good thing there's lots of hills in the neighborhood--we were glad to be able walk off all the yummy calories we could not resist consuming... If you are looking to really get away from it all, this is the place for you! Beth and John take care of every detail of your stay, from food to toiletries. The breakfast is the best by far I have ever had at any establishment. If you go away hungry, it is your own fault! Beth also is courteous enough to ask about any special dietary requests you may have. There are even snacks and beverages available anytime you wish. The sheets are the most comfortable I have ever had on the road. Every amenity you can think of (and then some!) is provided for you. Wireless internet service, air conditioning, satellite TV, well-stocked library, earplugs (in case your partner snores like mine does!), puzzles, piano, wicker-chair porches, fantastic views...I could go on and on! The decor is tastefully done in Victorian style, which is usually too ornate for my taste, but not so here. Do you get the idea that I had a fantastic time here and highly recommend Museum Hill? Well worth the stay if you are in the Kansas City area!

After a day of historical sightseeing in St. Jo, what a wonderful facility to come back to. Our 31st Anniversary was so special thanks to Beth and John Courter, and the lovely Museum HIll B&B. We made a memory at this beautiful St Joe 1885 mansion. Beth and John are so hospitable and do everything to make your stay a special time. The food was incredible. Our room was charming and hearing the stories about the home and its former owners was so much fun. The Cherry Mash connection is one of a kind story, sure to bring a smile. We would definitely recommend this B&B without reservation. You will love it too.

We had such a good stay at the Museum Hill. Beth and John were such nice people, and they made sure that we were taking care of the entire time! And they also serve a great breakfast! Once I got home I realized that I had thrown away my driver licenses in the trash can....so I called Monday morning asking them to basically dig through the trash to find it. Which they did, Beth called me back letting me know that she found it and I had it in the mail within two days. I will for sure go back and visit!!!

From when I first called to make the reservations I knew this would be a great place to stay. I explained to Beth that we were going to arrive on motorcycles, and she was excited to accept our one night stay. John and Beth met us outside, and gave us use of their driveway to park the bikes, and her dryer (we ran into a good deal of rain on the way)! When we went to dinner, she called the restaurant to make sure we were being taken care of! John and Beth are great people, and both had great senses of humor! Beth and John took care of our group like we were part of their family!

I was hesitant about staying in a Bed and Breakfast for the first time, but all my reservations left me the moment I walked in the front door of Museum Hill! The home is beautiful and Beth and John were wonderful hosts. They make you feel at ease and comfortable. They welcomed us (a group of 4 couples on motorcycles) who arrived on their doorstep sopping wet from having been caught in a rain storm and never batted an eye. They not only recommended a restaurant for dinner, they called the restaurant while we were waiting for our table to make sure they were seating us and taking good care of us. That was above and beyond in our eyes! Breakfast was wonderful as well. There is so much to see and do in St. Joseph that we will be back and of course we will stay at Museum Hill!

A one night experience while doing a visit to Bendictine College in Atchison KS, a short 25 minutes away. We stayed in the Spirit of St. Joseph room which has a incredible view of the City Park. The entire B&B was spectacular, full of little quirks, incredible antiques. Beth is a great host and makes a wonderful breakfast. Has wireless, cable, great snack bar including beer! Perfect room temperature, comfy queen size bed, antique tub. Very relaxing, especially sitting on the front porch listening to a live concert in the civic park just a few blocks down. Walking distance to about 30 mansions. Our heads were on a swivel. We may book a room for 4 years. There were so many great things about the house and the city we need more time to take them all in.

My teenage son and I were vacationing in southern Missouri when I convinced him to come to my hometown, St Joseph. During the trip, I injured my right shoulder and knew I could not drive back. We contacted Beth and she graciously offered a room with a cot for my son. Throughout the night, my arm became worse and I ended up in the Emergency Room. Beth was so kind - she offered her assistance and helped with our late check-out and breakfast. By the way, the breakfast was fantastic! I feel I made a friend with Beth and although I'll probably never get my teenager back to St Joe, I know that when I return, I'll be staying at Museum Hill B & B - with my new friends!

We truly enjoyed our stay!! The inn keepers, Beth and John, were so accomodating. Their attention to detail and maintenance of the home's true essence was truly refreshing. My wife and I had a great stay at Museum Hill over the Memorial Day weekend. The house is charming and well-appointed, but the attention and knowledge of the owners is what really made this trip special. I would strongly recommend Museum Hill if you're visiting St. Joseph or the surrounding area.

My wife and I have stayed at several B and B's and they were all very good. Museum Hill offers everything they did and lots more! The room was great, the guest kitchen was stocked with snacks, all type of drinks, pretty much anything you wanted...all inclusive! The owner's/innkeepers were very hospitable and I believe, had we not had everything we needed at our disposal, they would have found a way to get what we needed. Breakfast was fantastic! My only regret is that we weren't able to spend more time....I will be back for an evening meal and another weekend someday. If you are going to Saint Joseph, don't waste your money on a hotel where you are a room number. Stay at Museum Hill and see for yourself! John and Judy

Our stay at Museum Hill Bed and Breakfast was a view into a history of not only an elegant home, but the lives of people who lived there. We found the guest kitchen and library to be very nice additions to our clean, comfortable accomodations. Breakfast was delicious and served when we desired it. In fact, we felt kind of pampered with Beth's service. Thank you for everything.

It was remarkably clean. our hostess was very gracious and a wonderful cook. If one is looking for a good peaceful rest and awake to a fantastic breakfast, this is a great value and I would highly recommend it!

I loved it but what I liked more was that my wife loved it. A stocked kitchenette good for an evening beverage and snack was a pleasant surprise. Unlike those hotel refrigerators that inventory everything and charge you for what you take, everything here is complementary. The house has a great history. Be sure to watch the video in the library. St. Joseph, MO is a great destination. Drive, walk, or bike the parkway. Shopping, eating out, sightseeing, they have it all. There are lots of museums including the very creepy Glore Psychiatric Museum. Be sure to find the King Hill overlook for an unbelievable view of the valley. Oh, did I mention that the inventor of the Cherry Mash candy bar lived in the house and that some of that very famous candy will be waiting for you in your room.

This is a great place to stay! The best part was that it is both luxurious and affordable. The hosts are excellent, the rooms are spotlessly clean, and the food is wonderful! Don't miss an opportunity to stay here.

My husband found this wonderful place while looking for a place to stay in Saint Joseph. We were returning home to Texas from Green Bay after helping to relocate our daughter, son-in-law and grandchild. To say the least, it was a tiring trip, both physically and emotionally. This was the perfect place to stay! Beth was gracious and helpful in many ways. We ate dinner at a wonderful restaurant that she recommended and then returned to the b&b just to relax. My husband watched basketball while I escaped to the library (with a glass of wine) and browsed through the Courter's wonderful collection of books and videos. The rooms were wonderful - outstanding linens, fresh flowers, and very quiet. Beth prepared a gourmet breakfast that was beyond words. We will be back! Mary Jo from Texas

The Museum Hill B&B was a historical retreat that included gormet breakfasts, cozy romantic rooms, and great hospitality. Beth and John gave us great advice on historical sites in the area, restaurants, and hot spots! The extra kitchen and living area upstairs by the guest room was an added touch that made it even more like home. I would recommend this place to anyone!

As a working mom, I needed a weekend away. I loved just relaxing with a book among the beautiful antiques and decor. Breakfast was wonderful -- the food and the company. I'm already planning another stay.

My husband and I just got back from a stay at the Museum Hill B&B for a weekend away celebrating our wedding anniversary. We showed up an hour after a snowstorm had finally stopped to find John shoveling off the street so we could park our car! We loved staying in the Empire Rose room. It was really cold outside, but our room stayed so nice and cozy with our radiator! We loved the comfy bed. The bathroom was outstanding too. Not only was it stocked with shampoos, conditioners, lotions, bubble baths, soaps, etc. but they were name brand too! No cheap hotel toiletries here! We loved the deep soaker tub. What a relaxing way to end a cold night! Oh, and the guest kitchen! They keep it fully stocked with little snacks, cocoa, tons of teas, beer, water and even brandy! I have to admit we spoiled ourselves a bit. The guest library was nice and cozy. We watched a documentary on Jesse James and their episode of "If Walls Could Talk", but they have a ton of movies to choose from. Beth even offered to let us use a portable DVD player if we wanted to watch a movie in bed. So thoughtful! The breakfast was AMAZING! Beth is a wonderful cook and we thoroughly enjoyed our gourmet breakfast and the other guests who enjoyed it with us. We all agreed this is one of the most hospitable B&Bs you can stay in!

My husband is a bird photographer, and I decided to take him to a famous National Wildlife Refuge in northwestern Missouri. I chose Museum Hill because I wanted someplace nice that was not too far from the bird watching spot. I wish we had had longer to spend there, because the house has a fascinating history and is close to lots of St. Joseph sights. The amenities were wonderful, including a little guest kitchen on the second floor with everything one might need, a library, and great bath goodies. I am ashamed to say it, but this turned out to be as much of a treat for me as it was for my husband. Oh, and the food is fantastic, too. Highly recommended.

My two sisters and I had a lovely relaxing stay for two nights. The room was perfectly furnished according to the period with an attached bath. The breakfast was just wonderful and served beautifully.

My Army soldier husband and I are stationed at Ft. Riley, KS and wanted to celebrate our 20th Valentine's Day together with style this year. We had never stayed at a B&B before and really didn't know what to expect. We were COMPLETELY SPOILED ROTTEN at the Museum Hill B&B! What a wonderful experience!!! Beth and John are such delightful people and charming hosts! Beth is a superb cook and we looked forward to our breakfast surprises every morning. The mini kitchen across from our room was well stocked for our late night snack cravings. The beds were very comfortable, the down comforters were cozy and warm. We enjoyed the extra homey touches in our room, like the little music box and the sweet little teddy bear! The claw foot tub that was right in our room had a little stand beside it with a ton of bubble baths and oils to choose from...not to mention the selection of magazines and books to read as you soaked! We could go on and on, but we will only say one other thing....we left carrying with us some beautiful memories and also a new friendship with two wonderful people who just happen to own this little B&B!

I travel often on business and when the local location that I would typically pick to stay had a water main break, I sought out something out of the ordinary for someone like me. I found this little B&B and am happy I sought it out. Fantastic food, loved the history behind the building and Beth took care of us with amazing breakfasts and included ammenities. Great place, awesome breakfast, really enjoyed the in-house movies, and games. Such a fantastic value, and so close to everything in St. Joe. I was traveling on business, and it felt like a pampered vacation!

We needed a get away and this was a great one. Our room was cozy and had a great view of the city.Just across the hall was the guest kitchen filled with so many goodies, from chocolates to biscottis, from bottled water to wine... all there for an anytime snack. Sitting in the library, also just a few steps down the hall, made us feel as if we had stepped back in time 100 years. Beth is a gracious hostess and a excellent cook.There is so much to see in this stately old home that we are planning to return soon.

We've stayed in many bed & breakfasts and agreed that, in terms of hospitality and friendliness of the innkeepers, this was tops. One of the best views of historic Saint Joseph from the front porch. We spent three hours on a self-guided walking tour of the Victorian homes in the Museum Hill district. The breakfast was outstanding. The hostess accommodating. The room clean and comfortable. Our room had an old-fashioned clawfoot bathtub instead of a modern shower, but that was part of the charm. We had an enjoyable two nights in Saint Jo and will stay at the B&B on our next visit.

Museum Hill B&B is a wonderful place for a wedding reception. The owners, Beth and John, went out of their way to ensure that our reception was absolutely beautiful. Since we were married in California, all of the details were handled through phone and email communication. Beth and I worked together (emailed photos of suggestions, decorations, flowers, etc.) to create an atmosphere that was personal, memorable, and timeless. The food was presented beautifully, and tasted great. For the finale, we had four of Beth’s homemade specialty cakes, and our 45 guests raved about each one! The morning after the reception, we had a delicious full gourmet breakfast for twelve. Once again, Beth and John outdid themselves to make our families feel pampered and well fed. We spent three nights at Museum Hill and highly recommend it for any special occasion – even a quick escape for the weekend!

We stay in B&Bs every chance we get... in many different states... we have never seen a complimentary stocked kitchen... what a neat added touch! The Innkeeper has great knowledge of the area and set us on the right track for the 'must sees' of local history for the day. Had an outstanding visit!

We stayed their after our wedding. Since we got there late and left early I didn't get to explore the B&B as much as I would have liked, but I loved our room. When we told the innkeepers we had to catch a plane early the next day, they made us the best breakfast to go, which really helped us out. I'd definitely advise friends and family to stay there.
