The room was charming, well kept and very clean. We thoroughly enjoyed the city and our stay. My only complaint would be that the owner made promises that weren't kept. He stated that we would receive a meat and cheese tray on our first evening and we did not. When asked where we needed to be for breakfast and at what time, he advised that with the rate we were paying, breakfast would be brought to our room. On the first morning, it was brought to us after we called to inquire. Later that day, we were told if we wanted breakfast the next morning, we needed to be in the dining room at 9:30. The staff was wonderful and the owner seemed very nice, but I don't feel making promises you can't or don't keep is a good way to operate a business.
Thank you for your kind words. My staff works very hard and it is nice when it is noticed. I have responded to you personally through email. After reviewing my calls logs and notes, I believe I am responsible for the confusion. Our last minute specials are valid only for guests booking directly with the Inn. Unfortunately there is no other way to note the specifics on the reservation. I have included an offer I hope will make things right. If you would like to discuss any further, please call. This was not our first stay at the Captain Wohlt Inn. We came here last year during the middle of a week in October and had a great time. The Captain Wohlt was quiet, clean, Brant is very accommodating and breakfast was delicious. The grounds are very well kept and tidy. There's always a small contained fire going to sit around in front of the main house where breakfast is held every morning and smores are consumed just after dusk. You can always meet a friendly face and strike up a little conversation on where to go next on your next expedition when meeting by the chiminea. We stayed in the Peters Suite which we had more room than we needed between my wife and I and our Schnauzer last year. This year, we decided to see what Oktoberfest was like in Hermann. We've read ton of reviews and majority are great! We had such a great time at The Captain Wohlt Inn the first time in 2013, we decided to go back and see if our expectations could be re-met. We did book a little late which was at the beginning of September and the only room left was the Wine Cellar. Now, it was a wine cellar and there are no windows except on the front doors to the room. I can see why someone may feel a little claustrophobic in the wine cellar but I thought it was quite cozy. It did have a small shower but it was very clean, comfortable bed, refrigerator, keurig for coffee and tea, television and historical books to read about Hermann. But apparently the house and wine cellar was built by John Siedler in 1858 after the street was chiseled out of the hill and many productive and successful wine growers lived in the house for years to come. Just to think about how many bottles, gallons and barrels of wine moved to and from that room is mind blowing. Just give Brant a call and he will accommodate your every need while staying at The Captain Wohlt Inn. The Winkelmans

We enjoyed our weekend in Hermann and especially the Captain Wohlt Inn very much. Brant is a wonderful innkeeper and did everything he could to help us enjoy our stay. The grounds are beautiful as well as the rooms. We enjoyed the original artwork and attention to decor. A comfortable and safe place to stay.

Very roomy, clean and comfortable rooms! The neighborhood was very quiet and the atmosphere, relaxing. Brant was an exceptional host and detailed in his description of the surrounding area. This was a stay that exceeded our expectations in both hospitality and amenities. We look forward to a return and will not wait until our next anniversary.......
