The Captain's Neighbor is our newest building in our four building complex and rcognizes the groups other than German who have lived in Hermann. This building was completed in 1892 and purchased and renovated by us in 2003.

It was carefully furnished to be business-friendly as well as a warm cozy retreat. With a luxurious suite, charming guestroom and beautiful living/meeting room downstairs, and two huge rooms upstairs it combines the newest amenities with old-fashioned charm and comfort.
The luxurious English suite in the Captain's Neighbor features this lovely king size bed. The suite also has a cozy sitting area, cable TV, an electric fireplace just for ambiance, with a two-person jacuzzi in the bath room.
Gloria's room named in memory of Mat's mother, who encouraged us to realize his dream of a bed and breakfast, this large and beautiful room features a queen-size, cherry four poster bed with a matching dresser. This is the private deck of the Poeschel suite. Here guests may enjoy the outdoors in privacy, sharing only with the birds, butterflies and baby rabbits who inhabit the lovely grounds.
Sweetheart room - This gracious room, decorated in burgundy and blues, has a queen-size sleigh bed. There are sturdy armchairs where you can sit and admire Madame Alexander dolls portraying famous lovers of the past. WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE.Irish room - Failte! This room invites you to rest in a luxurious Waverly-clad queen-size bed, watch your own cable TV or just enjoy a cozy chat in the comfy chairs.

The Captain Wohlt House, completed in 1886, by Captain Heinrich Wohlt,1833-1899, as his retirement home. Captain Wohlt was one of the foremost steamboat captains of his era. He and a group of investors formed the Hermann Packet and Ferry Boat Company which became very successful and enabled the Captain to become a very influential Hermann citizen. One of his sons became the first mayor of Hermann.

This house now has five lovely guest rooms and is where breakfast is served in the mornings. These are two of the first large brick homes built in Hermann and were completed in 1840. Their style is German Venacular architecture. The building on the left, the Peters House, now has two very large suites that are family/baby friendly and the suite on the top floor, Poeschel has its own quaint baby room with crib.

The building on the right was built by Mr. Poeschel who was the founder of Stone Hill Winery. The first floor of this building features one of our two luxary suites, the Sammons suite. This suite is very spacious and features a two person Jacuzzi.
