Like privacy and yet be in the heart of old downtown Hermann? Then Apprill's Getaway Suites is the place to stay for you. We are located within walking distance of some wineries, amtrak station and antique shops. Four separate suites can accomodate different numbers of people, so be sure to check out all four suites to see which one would be right for you or your group. We have set ourselves apart from the standard B & B by decorating and setting up our suites for a very "home like" feel.

What a great place to stay---centrally located and easy to walk to everything downtown. We had plenty of room and really enjoyed our stay. Betty is so kind and easy to work with.

It was nice to have privacy! The rooms were exactly like the pictures. I would stay there again.

Pros: The location is great! Close to downtown area, and the trolley will come to pick you up here. Great space for a family or several couples to stay together. Cons: Beds and furniture is not very comfy!

Apprill's will not wow you with ambiance. The rooms are basically musty old apartments that feel like Grandma's place. But if you're coming to Hermann to hang out in your room, you're kind of missing the point. We paid about $225 a night during peak season (Octoberfest) for a 3-bed, 2-bath apartment in downtown Hernann. We shared it with another couple and could easily have included a 3rd, which would have brought the cost per couple down to $75 per night. The apartment was spacious and well equipped with two separate kitchens and living areas. The bathrooms were tiny, but functional. The location was optimal, a couple of easy blocks from the river and all the action. The room was stocked with coffee, juice, milk, and basic breakfast pastries and cereal. Good points: price, location, size, privacy. What needs to be improved: - hot water. It's an old building with several apartments, but even taking a bath at midnight, when no one else is up, there wasn't enough hot water to half fill the tub, and it never got truly hot. A plumbing overhaul is needed. Other tenants had the same issue, except on the first floor. - beds. We tested all three beds in the suite and chose the least firm mattress, but it was still extremely firm and not terribly comfortable. Young people probably won't care, but it was noticeable to couples in their 40s. - heating system noise. This didn't bother me at all, as I'm a sound sleeper, but according to my companions who aren't, the heating system is very loud and kicks on and off frequently enough in fall to make it hard to get to or stay asleep. Overall, you get what you pay for. We are satisfied with the value and will return, but if you're looking for the lap of luxury, spend twice as much for half the space and stay at Schiller Suites or one of the other boutique places. Apprill's is basic, but it gets the job done.

We have stayed in this place before and just love it. It is a great deal for the money. The rooms are large and very clean. More of our family showed up unexpectedly and we were given a very reasonable price for them to spend the night. Will stay there again if possible.

I have no real complaints, but this is a bare bones place. Packaged rolls and cold cereal for breakfast. Good location. Clean enough. A good value for two couples or three singles.

We had 4 girls for a 40th birthday weekend. Loved Hermann!!! Had a really great time. Our stay at Apprill's, if I had to rate between 1 & 10, I would say 5. The hallway smelled musty, but the room didn't. The suite needed some touch up. Ceiling, bathroom and couch. Loved the location. Loved the homemade breakfast bread. But PLEASE, add some tea bags! Reservation was easy and actually no problems!

My friend and I had the best time in Hermann staying at Apprill's Getaway Suites. We stayed in the 3rd floor "Loft" room that sleeps 6. It has two bedrooms (with ceiling fans!) and then a large futon in the living room. It is so cute and modern for a bed and breakfast, perfect for a weekend away with friends or significant other. Great value as well.

We had 5 people (2 couples and a single) so the bedroom situation worked out really well for us as there were 3 separate bedrooms (Suite 2) and it was nice to have some common areas to hang out. We had a little problem with getting the door unlocked as the key was a little tricky, but nothing we couldn't handle. Price split between 5 wasn't bad. There are a few cob webs in the high corners and we actually found some "left/forgotten" things under the beds. Other than that, we knew it was an older house so were not unhappy with it!

A group of us stayed here and rented out 3 of the rooms. It was a pretty typical, basic bed and breakfast house, no oohs or ahhs. I actually stayed in the room they call a Loft. It says it sleeps 6, it has two bedrooms with queen size beds and one futon-type pull out in the living area which is small, kind of gross, and has a deep divot in the center. Plus there were no extra pillows or blankets for that "bed" that we could find. Smoke detectors in two of the rooms were missing batteries and we are a group of firefighters, so you can only imagine what all was being said, especially when the guests that were already there in another room clearly were smoking in the house. We did know going in that this is not a traditional bed and breakfast. Your room comes with packaged muffins and what not. Which is fine but the packages were opened. Kind of grossed us out again. I will say that the location of this place is decent. We walked to most everywhere. If you're staying one night and not plan on spending a whole lot of time in your room, this place would be fine. But I prefer comfort and prettiness and expect more personal touches from a bed and breakfast.
Two individual bedrooms, private bath, FULL kitchen and large living room with sofa sleeper. Very nice for families or groups traveling together.
