Cozy and Comfortable
on May 12, 2015
Apprill's Getaway was the perfect place to stay for our girls weekend! It was in a great location and the rooms were perfect to fit us all! Thank you so much for a great time and we cannot wait to come back next year and stay!

Our stay was perfect at this location! It was within walking distance of the train station, restrauants and bars. I would recommend this stay for anyone !
The rooms were clean and they provided a few snacks as well! When I got back, I will stay here! I have already given information about this place to several friends as well!
Great Place For Groups To Meet
on April 01, 2015
Four couples recently stayed at Apprill's Getaway and it was a great place to meet and hang out together. The Loft had recently been renovated and was the best of the apartments. The Second Suite which had 3 bedrooms and 2 baths needed some renovations. However, all the rooms were very clean and the breakfast items provided were more than adequate to meet all our needs. It was nice that we were able to get together and hang out and then walk to the attractions in town. The only real problem was the coffee pots. It took over 45 minutes to get about a half pot of coffee. Bummer. Other than that we would certainly suggest this place as a family gathering.,

We rented 2 suites and owner was very helpful to accommodate all of our request. All rooms were clean and well prepared for our stay. Surprisingly there was more than we expected in the refrigerator, milk, juice, cereal, sweet rolls and more. We slept well and enjoyed our stay.
Only minor issues we found were with the coffee makers, took over 45 minutes for it to brew. One of the chairs in the living area had broken or weak springs and was not comfortable.
very quaint b&b

a little disappointed in the "breakfast" part of this bed and breakfast...... although the fresh bread was amazing.

What a great place to stay---centrally located and easy to walk to everything downtown. We had plenty of room and really enjoyed our stay. Betty is so kind and easy to work with.

It was nice to have privacy! The rooms were exactly like the pictures. I would stay there again.

Pros: The location is great! Close to downtown area, and the trolley will come to pick you up here. Great space for a family or several couples to stay together.
Cons: Beds and furniture is not very comfy!
Good value in an expensive area.

Apprill's will not wow you with ambiance. The rooms are basically musty old apartments that feel like Grandma's place. But if you're coming to Hermann to hang out in your room, you're kind of missing the point. We paid about $225 a night during peak season (Octoberfest) for a 3-bed, 2-bath apartment in downtown Hernann. We shared it with another couple and could easily have included a 3rd, which would have brought the cost per couple down to $75 per night. The apartment was spacious and well equipped with two separate kitchens and living areas. The bathrooms were tiny, but functional. The location was optimal, a couple of easy blocks from the river and all the action. The room was stocked with coffee, juice, milk, and basic breakfast pastries and cereal.
Good points: price, location, size, privacy.
What needs to be improved:
- hot water. It's an old building with several apartments, but even taking a bath at midnight, when no one else is up, there wasn't enough hot water to half fill the tub, and it never got truly hot. A plumbing overhaul is needed. Other tenants had the same issue, except on the first floor.
- beds. We tested all three beds in the suite and chose the least firm mattress, but it was still extremely firm and not terribly comfortable. Young people probably won't care, but it was noticeable to couples in their 40s.
- heating system noise. This didn't bother me at all, as I'm a sound sleeper, but according to my companions who aren't, the heating system is very loud and kicks on and off frequently enough in fall to make it hard to get to or stay asleep.
Overall, you get what you pay for. We are satisfied with the value and will return, but if you're looking for the lap of luxury, spend twice as much for half the space and stay at Schiller Suites or one of the other boutique places. Apprill's is basic, but it gets the job done.
