It's comforting to know that 99.99% of our guests would never utter such things about us. We greeted this couple with smiles, & continued to smile as we listened to numerous excuses & denials. Simply saying that we were concerned about them when they didn't arrive when expected, certainly did not justify this erroneous review. Each of their ratings were victims of misplaced anger. They blamed us for their lack of planning, reading & listening. We discussed their chosen check in time twice by phone, & sent a confirmation letter to which they replied. We provided a "Map & Directions" link with our confirmation letter. Note: B&B guests should become familiar with specific B&B policies & check in procedures, both of which are common to the industry.
Our check in times are chosen by the guest between 3pm & later. The two of us run every aspect of this business. Like the "normal" person, we have responsibilities outside the B&B, & must plan for appointments/activities. We consider our guests needs first & foremost, when scheduling everything we do outside of & for our B&B/home. These are the reasons B&Bs require that check ins outside published times, are arranged in advance.
Along with all responsible B&Bs, our damage waiver is similar to what guests sign at motels/hotels. It's definitely not uncommon for a B&B guest to sign such a form, the verbiage of which is common to our B&B industry. Every lodging establishment must provide guidelines for enforcing insurance requirements to avoid catastrophe, & to state consequence for potential abuse, carelessness & or damage to property. Everyone should take responsibility when something is ruined due to their carelessness or abuse.
Guests who struggle to be responsible, courteous, respectful are a rarity here, for which we're grateful. We treat all of our guests with courtesy & respect, & simply hope for the same in return.
