I'm glad John is engaged in this "labor of love" by bringing Rivercene back to its glory days! We loved the history of the property. He did a splendid job giving many details of what has been done and his dreams for the future. It was a little challenging finding the property, but well worth the effort!

The mansion is exactly as described in their web site. We stayed on the 3rd floor and even though the last flight of stairs was steep there weren't too many of them. Breakfast each morning was excellent, all three mornings there was fresh fruit and a home cooked entree. The owners are excellent hosts, and Donn is very knowledgeable about the history of the house and the area. We rode the Katy trail one day of of our stay. The trail is very close to Rivercene. Definitely recommend.

We recently spent my birthday weekend at Rivercene Mansion. Don and Joe made us feel like we were at home. The house is amazing and one of the most comfortable places we have ever stayed at. The food was excellent !! We liked it so much, we are going back during the Christmas season. Really looking forward to our next visit. Think we have found our weekend "Get away". Thanks guys!! Stayed 2 nights in the upstairs 3rd floor bedroom. Nicely appointed. When we arrived at 9pm the room was very hot. It's August in Missouri and that's normal. I personally would have prepared the room by running the window AC unit in anticipation of guest arrival. We were unable to sleep comfortably until about 3am. Thankfully, the following evening was better. The AC unit worked all day to keep the room bearable. Part of the problem was the ac unit was old and ineffective. It's a very neat old mansion with an interesting history. Like many properties of this kind the owners are working to make their vision a reality. It is a work in progress. They have done a great job thus far and the discomfort we experienced was relatively minor. I would go back, probably when the weather is cooler!

My husband & I stayed on a Friday night before we started on our Katy Trail bike adventure. When arriving the mansion looked a little erie on the outside but oh my, when inside it is beautiful! The owners were very gracious settling us in & giving dinner ideas in town. We stayed in Cora's room, which was super clean & beautiful. The bed was so very comfortable & we had the most soft towels I have ever used. They supplied soap & shampoo, which was nice when trying to pack light on a bike trip. Breakfast was served at the time we asked for it and it was not only appealing to the eye.... It was delicious! It was a great way to start our bike adventure. We were celebrating our 38th anniversary, riding our bikes 38 miles Saturday & 38 miles back on Sunday. The whole weekend was perfect from the start staying at Rivercene. So much history to Rivercene, & the owners were so informative along with fun to listen to! We will be back, hopefully with a bunch of friends to rent all the rooms for a weekend! Our stay was August 2014

Two friends and I requested a tour only. Donn and Joe greeted us with outstanding hospitality! Their passion for the house and its original owners radiates throughout. We were totally caught up in the history and Donn's stories of true events that happened there as well as the future plans for Rivercene. Never again will we request a tour ONLY! A stay at this bed and breakfast is definitely on our "to do" list. We want to extend our greatest "thanks" to Donn and Joe for the splendid afternoon we spent at Rivercene. We will see you soon. I was looking for a unique place to spend the weekend in Missouri not far from Kansas City. Our trip to Rivercene was the highlight of our trip to Rocheport. My parents and I could not have asked for a better experience. What an unexpected jewel in the middle of Missouri! Hidden back in the farm land, not even a stone throw from the Missouri River. It feels as if you are taking a step back in time, the grounds look untouched and you can almost picture the Rivercene as it stood all those years ago. The mansion as well as it's owner's (Donn and Joseph) are a perfect match. You will feel right at home as you walk through the rooms and hear the wonderful stories of Rivercene's Grand Existance. You will not be dissapointed as you walk the grounds and find your wonderfully furnished room. Some come for the prospect of ghosts and haunting...but if you don't believe any of that you will still love the place for it's history. We stayed on the third floor (used to be the attic) and it was big enough for 4 people. Our breakfast was wonderful Joseph is a fabulous cook! I would recommend coming here to anyone who has a interested in the era of times gone by, or the prospect of a ghostly conversation...I can't wait to come back to their newest events...I hear a Murder is coming to Rivercene...Who Done It is the Question?

Anyone who loves history will really enjoy staying here. It is just an experience you won't have anywhere else. It really takes you back in time to the 1800's. The breakfast is fantastic and they even do gluten free. I can't say enough about the hospitality of Rivercene.
