It was special to stay in what used to be a real cotton plantation. The house is stately, the grounds are spectatular, and the countryside is rolling and lush. The whole place could be a movie set. We were comfortably housed in the Desert Suite and we enjoyed the breakfasts and the company of the innkeepers, Willia and Bill.

We arrived virtually unannounced at the Desert Plantation but Willia, our host, accommodated us without fuss. In no time, our room was prepared and we were sitting by the pool, drinks in hand, enjoying the balmy southern weather. The house is beautifully original and not overdone like some other period homes. The atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried. Nothing was too much the bother for our host and the breakfast was superb. The grounds are magnificent, and as it was not hunting season, we were free to explore as much as we liked. We were accompanied by two fabulous canine companions at no extra cost. Highly recommended!

An overnight visit to Desert is a trip back in time with all the modern comforts. The rural setting is spectacular, the home warm and inviting, and the Perkins are the perfect hosts. Authentic, memoriable hospitality at its best. The Desert Suite was comfortable, quiet, very large with a spacious bathroom. It could not have been more comfortable and inviting.
