Devereaux Shields House includes the Aunt Clara's Cottage with 4 guest rooms, breakfast and meeting room, heart pine floors, and large porch and rear courtyard garden for lounging. Groups of guests may book the entire cottags.
The Devereaux Shields House is just a few blocks (0.5 mi) from the 200-foot-high Natchez Bluffs, which offers a stunning view of the Mississippi River for several miles in both directions.
The Gallery Room is a romantic grand room on top level of home opening to a private gallery overlooking garden. Features a king size bed with beautiful Victorian wood detail, a fireplace for viewing, and comfortable Victorian couch and seating in a turret area.
Devereaux Shields Dining Room
The Devereaux Shields House exhibits architectural features of the Queen Ann Victorian style, including asymmetric design, a circular corner turret, fish-scale siding, one-over-one double hung sash and bay windows, elaborate chimneys with decorated caps and a former wrap-around front porch now partially converted into a bedroom opening upon the rear garden.
The Gallery Room includes a private and romantic gallery for your enjoyment overlooking the front garden and neighborhood.
The Rose Suite is an elegant 2-Room suite with comfortable atmosphere overlooking gardens and featuring a Victorian seating area with fireplace for viewing ambiance.
The Louise Room is a large spacious room in Aunt Clara’s Cottage featuring a mahogany queen rice bed, a tiger stripe maple double bed, private bath, cable TV and wireless Internet

My wife and I frequent Natchez, MS because we love this city. We were married a year and a half ago and one of our first day trips was to Natchez. There is so much history and the Antebellum Mansions take you back in time. After we were married we began staying a different BB's in Natchez for weekend trips. Our first stay at The Devereaux Shields House was the weekend of May 3rd. This BB is so amazing. We stayed in the Gallery Suite which to our surprised, when we arrived, had a private balcony overlooking the quiet street below. The bedrooms were 2 and very spacious and comfortable. The private bath was nice also. One thing my wife and I appreciated the most was we were told we had complete access to the downstairs parlor and living room. There was only one other couple that stayed in the main house and we hardly ever saw them. The gardens, front and back, were peaceful and so inviting for relaxation. There were large fountains in front and back that made relaxation even more enjoyable. Ron and Eleanor made our stay comfortable and offered several suggestions for diner at local cafe's, which we took their advice and did not regret it! My wife and I mentioned several times during the weekend, this was the best BB in Natchez we have ever stayed in.

We arrived and were greeted by our host Eleanor. She showed us around and then offered us a refreshment, which we drank while sitting on the front porch. We had planned on staying only one night but asked if a room was available for another night. We moved across the hall after breakfast. By the way, breakfast was outstanding!! Our 1st choice room was larger and nicer than the second night. We didn't mind since they fit us in.

We stayed at Aunt Clara's cottage, a few houses down from the main Deveraux Shields house. Elinor & Ron made us feel welcome, walked us down to our room, made reservations for us for dinner and truly made us feel comofrtable. The room was spacious and had everyhting we needed. Breakfast was scrumptious & price very reasonable. If we are ever in the area again, we most definitely will return.
