Everything about our stay was perfect! Owners were helpful and so polite. Love how this bed n breakfast has themed rooms and merchandise you can purchase from around the world in the family room. Breakfast is to die for, especially the French toast! I keep recommending to friends and family and will be going back soon!

Very nice place, we both enjoyed or stay.

we went there for our 25th anniversary, mid-week, hoping for quiet and romance. couldn't have asked for anything better. No one else was there so we had the place to ourselves. Didn't really pay much attention to things other than our room which had a fireplace and a deck. They had beautiful music on, fireplace going, wine and cheese waiting. It was perfect! We only saw the innkeepers when we wanted them and were impressed with the breakfast that was brought to our room in the morning. It was like going overseas for a honeymoon but we were home the next day. Thanks for the great memories

It was a real pleasure to return to the Elephant Walk.

We greatly appreciated the innkeepers' flexibility in allowing a family member to pick up the key for us, since we would not be arriving until very late after our wedding. Breakfast impressed us, especially as they were able to meet some unusual dietary restrictions. And, they did this really neat thing with pineapple quarters that we can't wait to try at home. The room was very clean and comfortable, especially the chairs near the fireplace. The whirlpool tub was hot, although it took some time to fill. We were intrigued by many of the items throughout the house from Thailand, and it was lovely to hear from the innkeepers about their travels. As we tend to be of an exacting sort, we'll admit that the first floor felt a little over-filled. Overall, it is a lovely B&B with excellent food and kind innkeepers. We greatly appreciated their genuine hospitality.

My partner and I just needed to get out of the city for a night, and a friend recommended The Elephant Walk. We couldn't have been happier--the room was beautiful, Rita and Mike are incredibly friendly and professional, and we felt rejuvenated and refreshed when we left. We can't wait to go back!

We were very impressed with all the extras provided by the Elephant Walk B&B, from the wine, cheese and homemade bread that were waiting for us, to the most amazing breakfast dessert we've ever seen.
4.8 on November 13, 2013
We stayed at the Elephant Walk on a recent visit to Stillwater. I had read the prior reviews and was not sure they could be so true - but they were. This is by and far the best B&B I have ever stayed at. Breakfast comes with dessert. Dessert! Room was wonderfully decorated, wine and cheese waiting for us at check-in, and the host Rita was so helpful. Go stay here!

We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed every minute! The room was luxurious, and the breakfasts were amazing. We had such fun chatting with everyone there at breakfast too. Would love to go back someday!

We had a wonderful stay at the Elephant Walk. The room was great; the beds were comfortable and made for a easy sleep. The food was delicious. Rita and Mike are friendly and outgoing and will help you with whatever you need. They also respect your privacy if that is what you want. I would recommend them to any of my friends or family.

The room was beautiful with incredible detail. Once you walk in you are transported to another continent. The food is delictable and our hostess Rita was delightful!

Disclaimer, this was my first stay at a B&B, so I wasn't sure what to expect, or what is "average," but my goodness was I impressed. The Arrival: Rita greeted us with a friendly smile, and I felt like she as excited to see us as if we were family. She had a bottle of champagne chilling and a lovely cheese plate waiting for us. We didn't want to leave to attend our event, it was so nice just relaxing by the fire! The Room: One word..beautiful. It's "cozy," but I think we had one of the smaller rooms by square footage. But again, the details! A fridge with beverages (complimentary), the rain shower, the amazing furniture and decor. Even a simple bluetooth connection so the iPhone could play on the stereo. All there. The Grounds: what a place to relax, read a book, WRITE a book! I could spend a year and a day in the gazebo out back, listening to the fountain and the birds, just breathing. The Food: a three course breakfast including dessert? Yes, please! Wonderful, detailed, very nice. The Service: Rita and her family are next to none. You feel like an old friend. She's excited to share stories of her travels or talk about the eclectic pieces in her home. They're friendly, always smiling, truly loving what they do and it shows. I was, to say the least, VERY impressed. I will come back. I will recommend to friends.

The character of the beautifully restored home is outstanding and unforgettable. We couldn't have been happier from our one night stay. The proprietors, Mike and Rita, were extremely friending and accommodating in every way. We're looking forward to a return visit.

My husband and I went to Elephant Walk for a birthday get away. We stayed in the Chiang Mai room which was very nice. We really enjoyed the small outdoor balcony and the comfy chairs in front of the fireplace. The bed was also very comfortable as well as the Jacuzzi. The breakfast was very nice as well and they even did something special for those who had birthdays. The grounds were very nice as well and if it would have been warmer we probably would have stayed outside even longer. We would definitely recommend this bed and breakfast.

We stayed in teh Cadiz Room and it was a wonderful retreat. We have stayed at the Elephant Walk in prior years and Rita remains as entertaining as always. The room was blissful and the stay memorable.

This was our second time staying at the Elephant Walk. Rita has had so many unique and different cultural experiences that are shown through the decorations throughout the house. It is great to hear Rita's stories. Breakfast is always delicious and we can't wait to get another weekend away to visit again. Thanks Rita and Mike!

We loved our night in the Cadiz.

This was the first time my husband and I stayed in a bed and breakfast. It will be the standard we use to measure anyone else going forward! Mike and Rita are great. They have exciting stories to tell of their travels and other life experiences. The rooms are exquisitely decorated, each with a different Asian theme of places they've lived. The food they provided was plentiful and delicious. I didn't need to eat anything else for the rest of the day! The location of Elephant Walk is a few miles from the main street in Stillwater. The benefit of this is it's quiet and relaxing at night. The small drawback is that depending on your mobility you may need to drive instead of walk to get to the various local attractions. Overall, I loved the experience and will be planning my next stay soon.

What a wonderful night! I came in at 7:30 after a long day at work - to find wine, cheese and crackers that served as an AMPLE and delicious dinner - long soak in the gorgeous tub - the room was so beautiful - I didn't want to leave - so I didn't! Rita was amazing - gracious and lovely - the furnishings and property were breathtaking. I would go back again and again :) Lovely. Nancy

This was my first stay at a Bed and Breakfast so I did the research and I was not disappointed. The room was lovely and very clean. Rita was friendly and made you feel very comfortable and at home. The breakfast was delicious and better than I had expected. I would definitely recommend The Elephant Walk to anyone(any age) for a wonderful stay. Plus it's located in the beautiful Stillwater!

The Elephant Walk Bed and Breakfast was better than expected. My husband and I had our privacy, yet some great conversations with other guests. The food was fresh and filled me for the entire morning and afternoon. The Cadiz Suite was clean, bright, and had a terrace that allowed us to relax day or night by ourselves.

When I made the reservations for a surprise birthday trip I didn't know we would have to be home by 9AM on Saturday. I contacted Rita and she went out of her way to prepare breakfast early for the 2 of us and remembered my husbands birthday with a wonderful sparkler! The breakfast meal was outstanding as were the lovely treats in our room. The decor of the home and room were lovely. Our night out was magical.

We had an excellent experience with delicous breakfasts and recommend this place to anyone staying in Stillwater. The highlights of our stay was the afternoon wine and cheese platter and the huge soft and thick towels. Rita and Mike are friendly and helpful in planning our mini vacation.

What a nice surprise from a traditional bed and breakfast - with adventurous decor in every nook and cranny, and service that went above and beyond expectation. The elaborate 3-course breakfast was imaginative and delicious! We will surely return!!

My wife and I celebrated our second year anniversary and it was perfect. The room was very nice and unique. The bottle of wine was delicious and the cheese was a very good detail. Breakfast was delicious. Also, since the Elephant Walk is walking distance from downtown we were able to have a couple of drinks at a nice restaurant and enjoy a beautiful sunset.
4.8 on August 26, 2013
Mike and Rita were very nice hosts at the Elephant Walk Bed and Breakfast. Each breakfast was an adventure with 3 courses. Excellent food. The home is nicely decorated with items from Asia which Mike and Rita visit regularly. I highly recommend staying there.
4.4 on August 26, 2013
The room was comfortable, and had all the ammenties we were looking for including a well stocked refrigerator and snacks. The hot tub area could have been cleaner, but otherwise the room was very nice. The breakfast the next morning was outstanding, however Rita, does tend to like to monopolize the conversation, and is very willing to push her views on various subjects.
4.2 on August 23, 2013
We enjoyed our stay at Elephant Walk. The hosts gave us a cordial welcome, and then left us alone. We got to know them better at breakfast. The "met my expectations" ratings for value and cleanliness above mean just hat. I had high expectations, and theyb were met.

We recently stayed here and had a great time. Our room had an amazing outdoor space on the deck beautifully decorated with flowers. Only drawback was no offer to bring breakfast to room vs. eating in dining room. Very small drawback.

After a 650 mile drive, we were elated to arrive at the Elephant Walk. We were greeted by Mike and shown about the house and the room we had selected. The east Asian influence is very apparent throughout. Everything about the establishment was very tidy and pleasing to the eye. Even the grounds that surrounded this place were well taken care of (believe me....there was lots to take care of). We had a quiet and peaceful sleep and a wonderful and quite substantial breakfast the next morning. In summary, my wife and I would certainly stay here again. This is how a bed and breakfast should be run.

Our stay at the Elephant Walk was great and a much desired quiet, clean and very accommodating get away. When we arrived the ground keepers and inside staff all had nice welcoming smiles. Rita the B&B owner was a pleasure to meet. She was very easy going and a great conversationalist. Our room was very private and we heard nothing but the quiet bubbling of our roof top pond fountain. The bed was super comfy and when we awoke we felt very refreshed and ready for breakfast. We arrived at the breakfast table and our eyes as well as our tummies had quite a feast. We will defiantly tell our friends and pay The Elephant Walk another visit!

We wanted a relaxing, carefree vacation as an alternative to a camping trip or a week at a lakeside cabin. The Elephant Walk fit our needs perfectly. The late breakfast at 9:00 AM left us full through lunchtime, and the late afternoon wine, cheese, crackers and fruit in the room were a suitable introduction to a light dinner in Stillwater. Leftover wine and cheese together with some deli items we picked up from the local grocery store made a nice picnic lunch at a nearby state park. Our room, the Chiang Mai, was clean and furnished with everything we needed. The comfortable leather chairs and reading lights were ideal for reading or playing board games, We sat on the balcony to enjoy our view of the trees and garden and to listen to the fountain. One day we borrowed a pair of bicycles from Rita and Mike for a short trip to a German restaurant they recommended. A great value compared with the work and cost of alternative vacations. Thanks!

We had two rooms and both were lovely. The large upstairs room had a huge private deck with gardens, and fountains. Wine, cheese and fruit upon arrival. The rooms were even better than they looked on-line. Breakfast was fresh from the oven scones, more fruit than we could eat, waffles and more. We'll all be back!
4.2 on August 11, 2013
Elephant Walk is a fabulous place! If you love a Bohemian/Coconut Grove kind of feel then you will be right at home here! The Inn Keepers were a pleasure to be around, the gardens and grounds beautifully maintained, and each breakfast was superb; a culinary delight! My only caution: the Rangoon Room is much smaller than it appears in the images on the web. We are disappointed in the size of the room in relation to price. If we have a chance to visit again, we will do so in a different room!

The moment we arrived, we felt we had left the rush of the world. We stepped into paradise. Rita was a gracious hostess and answered all of my questions. The rooms were amazing. The gardens were the ones of storybooks. Breakfast was healthy and delicious and unusual. Truly, we didn't want to leave and can't wait to go back. We decided this was our "when the world is stressing us out, we will come here". A true treasure.

Upon arrival we were greeted by an upset owner. We rode up on our Motorcycle and he greeted us as we pulled to a stop. Mike had his shirt unbuttoned and wide open. He was very upset that we showed up on our motorcycle. Never once said thank you for staying with us, and he hopes we enjoy our stay but instead lectured on us about the noise of the bike and how he just that day called the police about bikes. Not the welcome were were hoping for. Then instructed us to walk to the front of the house and go in. I think instead of worrying about Harleys they should be worried about their neighbors. We were. Other than that our stay was very pleasant. Our wine was wonderful as was breakfast. However we won't be going back to this Bed and Breakfast.
5 on July 08, 2013
Rita and Mike have thought of everything - cheese, crackers, fruit, wine, robes, reading lights, refrigerator, electric candles - elegant and delicious breakfast garnished with flowers- making our stay a very special experience.
5 on July 08, 2013
Rita and Mike have created "nirvana" in Stillwater. The grounds invite tranquility and the interior decor (especially the Chiang Mai where we stayed) deliver it. The hospitality is unmatched and Rita issure to capture your attention and imagination with her travels and your heart with her devine breakfast. Expertly run and truly inviting.

This was my 2nd visit to Elephant Walk. I liked it so much when my husband and I stayed for a visit to Stillwater last year that I brought my best friend for a few days this year. It was just as charming and beautiful as it was last year. I can't wait to come back!
5 on July 04, 2013
Not a fussy, prissy Victorian manor -- loaded with character, an endless array of Asian bric-a-brac that somehow exudes comfort and serenity. Engaging, warmly outspoken owners & staff. Lots of great B&B's in Stillwater, this is the one we return to gratefully and gladly.
5 on June 29, 2013
We live in Stillwater where there are many great B&B's. This was our first visit to the Elephant Walk, and it was wonderful. We were greeted with a bottle of wine, which we could choose in advance, and a plate of great cheeses, crackers, fruit, and nuts. Gluten-free crackers were an option. A mini-fridge held bottled water and soft drinks as well. Our room was the smallest, but decorated with amazing artifacts from Thailand, and very comfortable. The double hot tub with overhead shower topped it off. The breakfast was unique and incredibly good, and the hostess was quite fascinating to talk with, as were the other guests. All in all, a perfect getaway.

We stayed in Cadiz for an anniversary getaway. It was the most relaxing 24 hours we have had in a very long time. Loved the deck--enjoyed reading a midst the flowers and fountains, and snacking on our wine/cheese/fruit tray. The decor was exotic, the ambiance luxurious & relaxing. The breakfast was delicious!
3.0 on June 25, 2013
The Bed and Breakfast had way too much clutter for me. The entire downstairs could be edited as far as content. I felt cramped and overwhelmed from all the stuff that was just kind of everywhere! Looked junky instead of exotic and interesting and could have used some dusting. Even the grounds were a bit overgrown in my opinion but the koi pond was pretty. Our room, the Rangoon, was tiny but well kept. We enjoyed the wine, fruit and cheese tray upon arrival. The hosts were talkative and fairly friendly and the breakfast was delicious and well presented. It was a good Bed and Breakfast overall I guess, but I personally was turned off by the downstairs decor. It felt too cramped and messy to really want to relax or spend time down there.
We are sorry that our inn was not a good fit for the guests. most of our guests love the decor, tho not your average set up. Hopefully people will read lots of our reviews and judge for themselves our accommodations. the gardens are always a work in progress and more English than pruned:). We always read reviews and give consideration to them.
5 on June 24, 2013
From the time we pulled up the driveway we knew this would be a unique experience. Plush gardens surround many cozy and inviting sitting spaces. The inside is filled with culture! There is a collection of artifacts that spread throughout the house, many of which are for sale. The bedrooms were nice and cozy with individual climate control, mini fridges, and 2+ person bathtub's. Rita and Mike were excellent hosts and served a wonderful breakfast. What a great time! We can't wait to come back!

- Cadiz room was immaculate and very spacious, included 3/4 bath - Rooftop was very relaxing with greenery, water features, and coy fish - Four course breakfast was great, I would go there just for that alone

I LOVE this place! It is a beautiful old home decorated with all kinds of pieces -- buddhas, lanterns, carvings, rugs, furniture--from Thailand. It has the most wonderful ambiance. I wanted to move in! Rita and Mike, the owners, are absolutely lovely. They love to chat with the guests, which made it feel so homey. They welcome you with a lovely gift basket of fruit, cheese & wine (or non-alcoholic beverage if you choose). The breakfast was outstanding, with the best homemade scones, plenty of fruit, and great coffee (along with other goodies). It's served around a lovely dining table in a cozy dining room, and you really do feel at home, while chatting with people from all over the place. The gardens are gorgeous, and you are within a nice walk, bike ride or run from the main street in historic Stillwater -- one of the most charming little towns I've been in. The neighborhood is beautiful, safe and provides great scenery for a walk. Very important to note: the rooms were quiet. There were other guests and I had no trouble sleeping -- there was no noise from others. It's a lovely place and I will definitely return the next time I'm in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

Stayed for one night at the Elephant Walk and it was perfect. Room was very cool, with wine, fruit, cheese, and homemade bread waiting for you upon arrival. This beautiful Victorian B&B was a nice respite for my wife and I on our 10th Wedding Anniversary. What you don't see on their website is the beautiful gardens and trees on this property. The owners travel frequently to Thailand/Asia and the B&B decor reflects this. There is definitely a calm, zen like feeling to the place with lots of water elements throughout the house and gardens. Breakfast was delicious. I'm an introvert and was surprised to enjoy chatting and socializing with the other guests and the owners at breakfast. I would highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Elephant Walk. The owners were awesome as well as the food. The only downside was the crappy weather, so we weren't able to enjoy the deck on the garden room. Very unique and interesting rooms.

Most b&b rooms are not spacious. This one is. The best part of this room was out own private outside patio. Rita was super nice and friendly- you can tell they love what they do and put extra care into every detail. Breakfast was delicious - and classy. I appreciated that they asked for any dietary needs and were able to fill our requests for gluten free. The bottle of wine, friut and cheeses was an added bonus to our stay.

The rooftop terrace offers a perfect place to watch the stars and enjoy a bottle of wine. The four-course breakfast is delicious and fills you up for most of the day. I would highly recommend staying with Mike and Rita.

For my birthday, my husband surprised me with a one night stay at the Elephant Walk and I can't wait to go back! Even though we were in Stillater MN, I felt like I was transported back to Asia (where we honeymooned). There is so much detail put into every room! The amazing and wonderful Rita took us on a tour of all the rooms that weren't occupied and she had some exciting stories to share! Our room had delicious snacks, drinks and music playing upon our arrival. I was instantly relaxed when we arrived. Rita suggested places in town for dinner and she was right on, mainstreet Stillwater is in walking distance, so we strolled into town after getting settled and had a great dinner upon her suggestion. Rita's breakfast in the morning was nothing short of exquisite and she will accommodate any diet, just tell her in advance. She has so many decor pieces and accessories from her Asia travels that she has some for sale downstairs which we bought as souvenirs for our family. If you want a peaceful and relaxing escape, even if you live close by, you get exactly that at the Elephant Walk Inn, like I said, I live 45 minutes away and I can't wait to go back, visit Rita, sit in the Jacuzzi and appreciate this unique space in the heart of Stillwater! Thank you Rita!

I took my wife here for a Mother's Day date. It was our first Bed and Breakfast experience, but will certainly be responsible for many future "retreats". We stayed in the "Raffles" room at The Elephant Walk and don't see ourselves wanting to try out any of the other rooms or houses anytime soon. There's simply no way to describe how perfect the experience was for what we needed at this time. Stillwater is a great town and we will be back!

My husband and I had the privilege of staying at The Elephant Walk for five nights recently. The innkeepers are delightful in care and creativity. Each 4 course breakfast was a new taste experience and plentiful enough to sustain us for the entire day! The rooms have unique personalities and pleasures. This was not just a good B&B - it was a time of feeling pampered and personally cared for!

Our stay at the Elephant Walk was lovely. Gourmet snacks and beverages in the room, a gorgeous Jacuzzi, and a plush bed and chairs. The rooms are decorated beautifully and although the rooms were all occupied, we felt as if we were alone - no noise issues. Breakfast is delicious and creative. We highly recommend the stay! Also, William O'Brien State park is ~20 minutes north of Stillwater (along a scenic drive) and is a great place to explore the outdoors. Stillwater is full of antique shops and good restaurants.

We had a lovely time at The Elephant Walk and would definitely go back. The proprietors were welcoming and friendly and every detail was attended to. I was surprised at the number and quality of amenities we received for the price - a GREAT value! There was a delicious fresh fruit, cheese, and homemade cracker platter on our arrival (WITH a bottle of wine) and a 3-course beyond-expectations breakfast. We have been to many other B&Bs across the country and in Europe, and this one is definitely among the best for value and service.

WOW! We had the most AMAZING time at The Elephant Walk - if you are looking for a real treat of a getaway - with beatiful surroundings, comfort and dining then this is the place for you! I can honestly say this is the best B&B I have ever stayed at - the owners are so friendly and accommodating, the environment is a real feast for the eyes, the guestrooms are beautifully furnished and decorated and the breakfast was delicious. Top Marks, we will stay again for sure.

Delightful home of Character and appeal that then is taken to another level with the decor of authentic pieces from various countries. So much to take in but done so tastefully that I found it relaxing and restful. The amenities of hot tub, wine and cheese, chocolates, cold beverages and fireplace in each room completed the package a satisfying value.

My fiancee and I went for her birthday in March. We stayed in the Cadiz suite on a Saturday night. I am a finicky eater and Mike and Rita made sure to provide me with alternative food to their selected menu. That was very appreciated. The suite was magnificent and we want to return either in Spring or Summer to really appreciate it. They are really interesting people, very friendly and warm!

Not that we don't love staying a Grandma's house... But if you're looking for a superior B&B experience in the St. Croix River Valley that skips the usual Victorian doilies and antiques, the Elephant Walk is a must-do. A lovely and very well maintained Victorian house on the bluff over Stillwater is surrounded by incredible gardens that were impressive in autumn and no-doubt spectacular in spring/summer. The interior of the house feel like you've stepped into a Victorian home in the colonies of Indochina, due to the hosts' extensive travels and art gathering in Asia. Our hosts Rita & Mike were incredibly hospitable yet discrete, and make a 5-star breakfast. The wine, cheeses, and crackers that await you in your room on arrival are just one of many posh-but-not-pretentious touches. We found this B&B to be a good value, and will definitely visit again.

Excellent B & B which we will be staying at again.

We needed a little mid-winter "staycation" and boy did this fit the bill! Everything was absolutely lovely! We loved our experience and cannot wait to go back!

We stayed in the Rangoon for the weekend and absolutely loved it! The room was small, comfortable, and romantic. The whole ambiance of the B&B was different than anything we have stayed at before and the owners were a fun couple that were willing to do whatever it takes make your stay enjoyable. I would definately return again!

We stayed in the Cadiz Garden Suite. It is a larger room with a private patio through french doors. The fireplace inside keeps it as warm as you would like and the whirl tub pool is a great way to relax! I would definitely recommend this room and even more so in the upcoming spring / summer when you can fully utilize the outdoor patio!

We had high expectations for our stay at Elephant Walk, based on great recommendations...it exceeded all of them. The accommodations are really lovely and the breakfast was extraordinary. Also, by any standards, a tremendous value.

My wife and I love how relaxing the Elephant Walk is and we are repeat customers. The hosts are full of life and stories, and the breakfast is delicious.

Our one night stay in the Rangoon room was really fun. Cool atmosphere, quiet and great for reading. Room was small but fine for a night. Jacuzzi was fun addition. Food was themed - pineapple, French toast with tropical fruit...and tasted great.

My husband and I just had a lovely getaway at the Elephant Walk. It struck a nice balance between being comfortable and relaxing enough for me...and not overly girly for him. The perfect combination! We enjoyed the delicious treats, cozy room, and lively breakfast conversation. We'd love to go back!

This is one of the nicest B&Bs we have stayed in! A tray of homemade crackers, cheese, fruit & wine awaited us. The mini fridge was stocked with complimentary soft drinks. The room was very comfortable. There were two comfy chairs, a fireplace, & a 2 person tub! The hosts were wonderful & prepared a delicious 4 course breakfast. Stillwater is a fun town & we enjoyed our day!

My husband and I went here for a little get away. It was such a unique place to spend a weekend. The food in the morning was amazing--after such a big breakfast, we didn't even need lunch! The complimentary crackers, cheese, and wine made a night in relaxing truly a treat.

My parents have been going to the Elephant walk for decades and after my first visit with my significant other I can see why. The atmosphere of the b & b was exotic and romantic. The highlight of the stay was drinking out champagne in the jacuzzi in our bedroom with an aquarium installed next to it. Sasha was an incredible host, and the breakfast was a masterpiece. I look forward to staying again.

For the eclectic, exotic couples who've always wanted to travel to places like Thailand and other Asian countries. Just my scene. Lots of cool trinkets for sale all around the main floor. Just lovely:)

We stayed in the Baffles and could not have been more pleased. The room was very comfortable and had everything we could have wanted. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. The snacks and wine that were waiting for us upon check in were also very good. From start to finish we were so pleased and comfortable. For the price I do not think this can be beat. We will be back.

In the oasis of decadent comfort, we were able to enjoy gourmet breakfasts with our charming hostess, experience some of the wonderful sights of Stillwater and relax for hours in the blissful spa tub. We even had the good fortune to get snowed in for a third night. We were in heaven!

We've been fortunate to live near enough to visit the Elephant Walk at least once a year, usually more often, for nearly as long as they've been in business. Owners Rita and Mike provide a unique, welcoming and luxurious "home away from home" that must be experienced. You will love it!

This is the first time me and my girlfriend have ever done a Bed and Breakfast. We stayed in the Rangoon room which was warm and fabulous. We got a glimpse of the other rooms and they were even more amazing. A great way to get out of the Twin Cities for a little bit. The Rooms: They're gorgeous with exotic decor, very warm and have a positive energy to them. Service: Rita was more than happy to help no matter what the issue. Her home-made crackers and hospitality and attention to detail made everything the more special. Value: The value is great, it was definitely affordable for what you are getting. Cleanliness: Attention to detail. Very clean. Dining: The breakfast was delicious. Rita and Mike are great cooks.

Wonderful B and B. Very unique compared to others. If your looking for something that's not as frilly and traditional but still has that romantic cozy feel this is your place. There was so much to look at in the house and our room was absolutely beautiful. We had our own patio on the second floor which was a perfect place to watch the stars at night and have our tea in the morning. Our room was large and had its own sitting area where we could relax by the whirlpool tub. This place has a very exotic feel and you feel like you've ventured a lot further than just Stillwater being in this home. We definitely plan to go back and stay in the other rooms to see what they are like. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic, You couldn't get a better breakfast staying in a 5 star hotel! Thank you Elephant Walk for our one of a kind stay!!!!!

We recently stayed at the Elephant Walk Inn in Stillwater, MN. I can't say enough wonderful things about it. The beds were comfy, the rooms were quiet, the food was OUTSTANDING, and Rita and Mike are very warm and welcoming people. We felt very much at home. The entire house was beautifully decorated. One could spend hours just looking at everything. Every room was unique. We stayed in the Raffles room. The tub was heavenly and you could sit and watch the fish in the aquarium next to it. Attention was paid to every detail. Thick towels, cheese, wine, a fully stocked refrigerator full of our favorite sodas, home made crackers, peanuts, and a dish full of chocolate. YUM! Everything was very clean and fresh. I'm hoping to go back next year!!!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary in the Raffles Room. It was a very nice setting. We loved the hot tub in the room. Everything was great and the food was outstanding! Our only complaint is that the comfort of the pillows and bed mattresses were not quite what we were hoping for, but not in the least a reason to forgo this room. We will definitely be back. This was the only Stillwater B & B we could find that wasn't decked out with Victorian style flowers, which helped solidify our choice.
We are happy that you enjoyed your stay. Our mattresses are top of the line with feather bed toppers. We use down for our pillows. We try to have firm pillows for the extra two that are on the bed with the down. We take comments very seriously, have to say that the Raffles has the most great sleeping comments. Everyone is different and sorry the bed was a problem.

The Elephant Walk is a very elegant 4-room bed and breakfast in Stillwater, Minnesota, just 45 minutes away from downtown Minneapolis. It is managed by owners Rita and Mike, who are simply the most gracious hosts. Their home is decorated with unique artifacts that they have collected during the years while traveling all over the world, especially in Southeast Asia. The rooms themselves are named after some of Rita and Mike’s favorite destinations and the furniture they’ve chosen for each of them is truly exquisite. We’d booked the Chiang Mai room, which was just as pictured online. When we arrived, we found a mouthwatering basket with fruits, nuts and a selection of local cheeses and homemade crackers. Next to it was a chilled champagne bottle. The room has a balcony overlooking the garden, as well as a full bathroom complete with a double whirlpool. The bed is super comfortable, even for a light sleeper like me. Breakfast was served by Rita herself at 9am. It began with a fresh baked berry scone and butter, accompanied by watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew cuts. The main course was a soft French-toast style egg dish, soaked in vanilla and almonds and served with strawberries, plums, kiwis and a delicious mango sauce. Chicken sausage was offered as a side. Dessert was a rich flourless chocolate cake with raspberries and crème fraiche. Drinks included coffee, tea, fresh squeezed orange juice and water. Rita and Mike, thank you for a memorable experience. Your home is a pearl and we look forward to returning soon.

My wife and I absolutely loved The Elephant Walk. We stayed in the garden suite, and it was well worth the extra money. We had planned on going out on the town at night, but changed our minds as soon as we walked into the room. It was amazing -- we didn't want to leave. We ordered takeout and stayed in the whole time. We will definitely be back.

The Elephant Walk was the perfect spot for my husband and I to share our first anniversary together. A fireplace, a hot tub, a balcony with breakfast nook, and the softest sheets I've ever slept in made it very memorable. The breakfast was delicious, the view was beautiful, and when we needed another bottle of wine, she brought it right up to us free of charge. Rita is a wonderful host, who actually cares deeply about making her bed and breakfast a quality one. She designs her rooms based off the places she's traveled to, and even speaks the language (Thai)! Thanks for giving us such a special night in the Cadiz Garden Suite! -Amy & Douglas

We visited Stillwater for the first time to attend a friend's wedding. The Elephant Walk was recommended to us by our friend who grew up in Stillwater. We have stayed at several B&Bs over the years, and The Elephant Walk is by far one of the best we've ever seen. I love Rita and her wonderful breakfasts and she is a consummate hostess. The garden around the house is magnificent and the porches add a lovely extra space to spend time in. In addition, our bed was wonderfully comfortable and cozy. Everything was very professional, yet personable and welcoming. We can't wait to come back again.

the rooms are gorgeous and creative, the food is WONDERFUL - I really like the nice touches like a bottle of wine and cheese/crackers/fruit when you arrive. No detail is missed. It's a must-see experience

This place was great. Mike and Rita, the hosts are very friendly and attentive. The three course breakfast was always something to look forward too. We were there for 8 nights. She was careful not to duplicate anything. The wine and cracker tray was a very nice extra treat. Rita would ask if you wanted to change the wine type each day. I would recommend this place highly. Have fun.

Raffles is a beautiful room and comfortable with the window air conditioner. Only negatives were the whirlpool water ran in VERY slow and the Eggs Benedict was so-so.the chocolate covered strawberries were marvelous.

We decided to spend our anniversary at the Elephant Walk. There was a sense of calm from the moment we stepped foot on the property thanks to the bubbling water features and lush gardens. We stayed in the Cadiz, which was like a small apartment, and the spaces were just what we needed; comfortable bed, small sitting room with socked fridge and comfortable seating, an adjacent Jacuzzi and satellite radio. And then there was the deck. Just perfect with overhead views of the aforementioned lush gardens and tree tops, we could sit among the flower/herbal gardens and water feature centerpiece and enjoy the evenings while sipping on a wine of our choice. The delightful breakfasts, genuinely warm hosts, and small town atmosphere made for a perfect getaway! My husband definitely gets bonus points for choosing this one.

5 on June 07, 2012
We stayed here to get away for a night before our baby arrived and had such a surprise. The home was so warm and inviting; it was also decorated so uniquely that you could spend hours looking at everything. It wasn't your typical frilly lace doily place. Rita was so interesting I could listen to her stories all morning at breakfast. They had a beautiful area outside to sit and relax. Breakfast was amazing and I wish we could have stayed another night!

This is one of our favourite B&Bs in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area. It's a beautiful old house, gorgeously decorated, full of Eastern elements with little surprises to discover at every turn. A lovely place to explore for the first time and to return to again and again. S & D McKay (winnipeg)

The place was amazing, beautiful and charming. We stayed there on our wedding night and my only regret is that we didn't/couldn't stay the entire weekend. Everything was perfect--from the fun and surprising decorating details to the delicious cheese and cracker tray. I can't say enough good things about the Elephant Walk Inn. We both hope Rita and Mike stay in business for a very long time so we can continue coming back.

Decor, comfort, and food are fabulous. House and garden are beautiful, relaxing. Rita is so personable, like you've known her forever. Wine and tray of cheese/nuts/homemade crackers every night are a treat. We've never gotten anything like that at any other B&B. We've stayed in almost every room at least once. All are different and very finely appointed.

The breakfast was excellent and the company was very pleasant. Spent two hours at the breakfast table talking with other guests.

Wife and I went for a little getaway and really loved our stay. Some pictures made house seem pretty quirky, but it really is so great. Rita really takes care of the details and is so good with conversation- she's been doing this for 20+ years and you can tell. The bubble bath, the bath salts, books, games, candles- so many little things that make the experience so great. And the food- wow! We initially thought we'd rather have breakfast in our room, but we are so glad we had it down in dining room. Such a fun and comfortable experience. Very private, but also cozy and welcoming.

I planned a surprise getaway for my husband's birthday and emailed Rita ahead of time and asked if she did any special surprises for birthdays. She had a beautiful little flower with a "happy birthday" note in our room waiting for us, and a bday sparkler on our dessert for breakfast the next day. It was so sweet. Our room was clean and felt perfectly cozy. We stayed in the Chiang Mai room and it was the perfect size and feel for us. There is a private belcony which we loved--aside from the screaming kids in the nieghboring house--it was peaceful and relaxing to sit by the fire place in the vening. The house was surprisingly quiet even when all the rooms were full with guest for the night. We never once heard a peep from the other guests. Our only small complaint was that the jacuzzi had these black flakes shoot out during both times we had it in use. It didn't other us while we had bubbles in it to hide the flecks, but once the water was drained it was kind of gross to see the floor of the jacuzzi littered with these black flakes. Besides this, everything was perfect. Rita is a bit particular about breakfast routines and what utensils to use and when and having it sit on the table top but she was gracious about it when I didn't do things right. Breakfast was great. But since this is our first b&b experience we don't really have anything to compare with. The last thing I'll say is that this really is worth every penny. Not all b&b have both fireplace and jacuzzi and snack tray for the price that we paid for our room. We would go back and try a different room....or even the same room since we loved it so much! Thank Rita! And Mike for fixing our fire place the first night!
We are very happy to have input when things seem not right. I wish the guests had told me about the whirlpool right away. We have regular sanitizing of all of our whirlpools but in this case I think that someone had put some kind of a kelp soak that we of course would not have known about or seen. I do try to make eating grapefruit easy by sectioning it before broiling and supplying sterling grapefruit spoons. if I see someone struggling with a fork I do mention that the grapefruit spoon is there to help! just my nature to help facilitate eating juicy fruit. we are in a neighborhood and there are children sometimes playing...thank heavens the kids next door do most of their playing in their back yard. One thing I would suggest to all guests-tell your inn-keeper if any problems arise. we can fix anything that is amiss with rooms. We appreciate feed back when you are here, if we do not see it or hear about it we can not.

I have stayed at the Elephant Walk before. This is the perfect place for a romantic get away. The cheese try is amazing when you first enter your room. There is always a bowl of chocolates laying out somewhere. The breakfast is great and the staff are very friendly. They are happy to chat and tell stories but when you want your privacy not a second thought is given and it is granted. It would be impossible for me to recommend any higher than I do for the Elephant Walk

My wife and I loved the whole experience. We only wished we would have got it earlier to enjoy it more. The rooms are magical and take you to another place truly unique. We arrived to a our room which had chilled Champagne ready, along with fruit, nuts, cheese, and crackers. The crackers were unique and delicious. The room was lovely and when Greg showed us to our room he stoked the fire. My wife and I were able to have a far away vacation while being still close to home. The Breakfast was fantastic. We loved the conversations and stories from Sasha. It was like sitting at a table with friends we have never met before. It was so hard to leave but we did buy a gift certificate to come back when we will be able to stay longer and take more in. We have been to the Elephant Walk twice now and will return again this summer.
5 on January 20, 2012
We received a gift certificate from our daughter for a two-night stay at the Elephant Walk and were not sure what to expect. Whatever our expectations, they were exceeded. Sasha and Kim were gracious hosts and our accommodations (Garden Suite) were more than comfortable. The champagne, cheese and chocolate were pleasant surprises and the breakfasts were amazing. We frequently stay at B and B's and the Elephant Walk is a keeper. Like MacArthur, we shall return.

I purchased a night at the Elephant for my wife and I for our anniversary. This was our second stay here and it was as excellent as the first. The room is exquisitely decorated with a number of artifacts from abroad. The fireplace kept the room toasty warm and the jacuzzi was large enough for both myself and my wife. There was also the nice touch of a single cup coffer maker as well. The bed was a little harder than I'd like but was still nice. Sasha provided us with wine, cheese and assorted snacks for our stay and made sure we wanted for nothing. The room is a little pricey but totally worth the cost. Breakfast the next morning was excellent with four courses (fruit, bread, main entree and dessert) that were all well made and very tasty. Overall we were very pleased with our visit and hope to visit again in the summer. Thank you Sasha.
4.4 on December 29, 2011
The best thing about our stay at the Elephant Walk was the cozy room which included a wine of our choice and a snack in the room when we arrived. The fireplace was lit and there was a wide selection of music available for the CD player. The host was quite knowledgeable about area restaurants. The one disappointing thing was that there was not enough hot water to fill the whirlpool tub completely.
5 on December 19, 2011
A tray of homemade crackers, delicious cheeses, and fruit are brought up to your room upon arrival to be enjoyed with the wine already chilling. The room is also stocked with soft drinks, bottled water and chocolates. All of this was included in the price of the room which was a very nice touch. The themed rooms are authentic and feel like you're in an exotic paradise. Breakfast was outstanding and the conversation interesting. We will definitely be back. A wonderful experience all the way around.

We had a wonderful time staying here. The food was great! What a treat to have a bottle of wine and cheeses waiting for you in the room! The chocolates were a nice touch, too. Thank you Rita for providing a relaxing weekend to help celebrate our anniversary!

This was our second stay at the elephant walk and I'm sure we'll be back again! We really enjoyed the view of the snowy deck off of the Cadiz Suite. It was so cozy. The service and breakfast were fantastic as they were the first time. The location in Stillwater is also perfect. We enjoyed window shopping and eating at Marx fusion.

We spent an evening at the Elephant Walk Inn this November. We really enjoyed at the atmosphere. The place has a lot of quirks and things to looks at. The wine and snack greeting us was very welcome. The bath tub was the best feature of the room. The fire place was nice too, but it was to warm to use. Over all a great experience.

What a fun place to stay! The setting is very interesting and the service that Rita and Mike provide is outstanding!
5 on November 11, 2011
We spent two nights at the Elephant Walk, and it is so full of beautiful interesting objects from the East, clever renovations, a wonderful hot tub and fireplaces in every room, and creative breakfasts to keep you going all day. (Not to mention the wine and cheese.) The hosts were so friendly and engaging. We felt very relaxed and away from day to day life, and we did not want to leave. We plan to return often.

one of the best B and B's we've ever stayed at. We loved it. We will definitely return!

We stayed 3 days and had a blast. It was our first time at a bb, will continue coming here for our anniversary. Rita was very friendly and kept us entertained through breakfast and a little while later. The food was amazing and very feeling. If you need advice on where to go for dinner ask Rita. The rooms where very nice and relaxing. Had to buy a couple of Items from Rita's travels to the middle east. Can't wait to go back.

We had such a good time at The Elephant Walk!!! The room was amazing and incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was delicious! This was one birthday that won't easily be forgotten. We hope to go back to The Elephant Walk and stay in each one of the rooms! We highly recommend The Elephant Walk bed and breakfast.

We had such a great time at the elephant walk! The owner Rita is very sweet and an amazing chef! The breakfast is worth the stay even if you don't like comfy beds, wine, cheese, whirlpools and beautiful views of gardens. Really, you should book a room now.

Our stay at the Raffles can be summed up in one word: Perfect.

What a pleasant surprise! This is one of the most unique B&B's I've ever been to. The staff was great and the facility is one of a kind. The food and wine were outstanding as well. I'll be back!

My wife and I had a wonderful experience in Stillwater, Thailand. A nice private room, a great breakfast and a nice day for exploring. Strongly recommended for a night away from it all!

The Elephant Walk is a wonderfully unique bed and breakfast. Each room is decorated beautifully. As soon as you step into the room, you feel you have been transported to another country. Clean and eclectic, it was a real treat to admire the decor throughout the house. Mike loves and collects bikes and even made a tandem bike, which we took for a test ride. There are a few bikes for the guests to use if you feel like going for a ride and didn't bring your own bike. The Elephant Walk is a lovely bed and breakfast run by a gracious couple. We will definitely be going back.

What a wonderful B&B! My husband and I stayed for a baby-moon in the Chinh Mai room! Beautiful furnishings, amazing balcony, fireplace and a gorgeous bathroom! It was refreshing not to be surrounded by Victorian features. Instead we were Transported to a faraway place where we just could relax! The food was good and conversation was amazing! We were greater with an amazing plate of cheese and fruit along with wine and non-alcholic wine for me! Our fridge was stocked with complimentary beverages too. Plus the town of Stillwater is charming and has many great things to do. The gardens at Elephant walk are enchanting as are thr inn keepers! Highly recommend this B&B and we hope to return!

We had a wonderful night at the Elephant Walk. Rita was a great hostess and amazing cook! The rooms were eclectic, but after we found out that she lived in Thailand for 3 years and goes back every year, the place had a lot of character. The breakfast was just perfect and would go back again!

This was my first stay at a bed & breakfast. I chose this one because the rooms and decorating style were not the typical bed & breakfast doily overload. The home is filled with acquisitions from the owners' time spent living in Asia. The owners were friendly and have a well-maintained home. The breakfast was delicious. I left wishing I had another day to spend in their lovely garden.
5 on October 05, 2011
We had a wonderful stay! Our room was beautiful and the deck just perfect for enjoying this weather! The extras they add really do make the stay. Big, fluffy towels by the whirlpool, bath salts and bubble bath, tea lights, robes. A nice stereo to play either an iPod or just listen to the radio or Sirius. A fridge with complimentary pop and water, the cheese and crackers in the room when you check in and not to mention a bottle of wine! Breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be returning for another visit.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Elephant Walk. The rooms are decorated with artifacts from the owner's travels throughout SE Asia, which was really fun for a trivia buff like me. I love to hear the stories behind the objects. Breakfast was excellent and we had a really nice visit with the owners. We would highly recommend The Elephant Walk!

Great owners! It seems they anticipated every possible need. For those of you that see the "little things", you will be impressed. Very nice cheese selection (no cheap stuff) Towels and sheets as good, or better, than 5 star hotels!

This was our first stay ever in a B&B and I have to say, I was VERY impressed. The food was phenomenal and tasted fantastic, and made use of so many fresh and in season ingredients. The fresh flower garnishes from the amazingly beautiful gardens were a lovely touch. The house was beautifully decorated and I felt like I had been whisked away to another country. Mike and Rita were SO friendly and welcoming. Our room (the Rangoon) was beautifully decorated and cozy, just what we were looking for. The wine and cheese plate each night was wonderful as was the fridge stocked full of soda and water. It was my birthday and my girlfriend had contacted Rita about getting a cake, and she was nice enough to take care of all that, and even wished him Happy Birthday when we checked it, but the best surprise was the sparkler placed in his dessert at breakfast the next morning. There were also several bikes available to ride and a gazebo out back with those most beautiful wooden furniture I have ever seen. Those special touches made our stay even more wonderful and we will definitely be back.
5 on September 21, 2011
The place was really outstanding! I loved getting a full bottle of wine and cheese spread when getting to the room, and the room itself had everything/anything you could have wanted. The house and grounds itself were fun to walk around and see everything. I definitely recommend this!
4.6 on September 20, 2011
I was drawn to The Elephant Walk because the decor wasn't the typical Victorian B&B. And I wasn't disappointed. Everywhere I looked was something interesting and unusual - that alone could have kept me busy for an evening. The grounds were beautiful and relaxing. The room was clean and quiet. A bottle of wine was already chilled and waiting for us when we arrived. There were more than enough towels even with a relaxing soak in the jacuzzi. Coffee was already out even for us early risers. Breakfast was exquisite. In short, I didn't want for anything and couldn't have had more enjoyable stay.

Surprised my husband with a night at the Elephant Walk. It was better than I expected and I had high expectations after reading all the reviews online. We were the only guests that night so the other rooms were open to look at and every room is gorgeous. Rita was lovely and the breakfast was delicious. It is so nice to have the bottle of wine with the cheese and crackers, what a fantastic late night treat that we enjoyed sitting on the balcony our room had. I would recommend this B&B to anyone and we will be returning as soon as possible.
4.6 on September 08, 2011
We stayed in the Cadiz room and had a wonderful time. There were so many interesting objects in the room to look at that the owners collect on their travels. The food was outstanding, we stuffed ourselves with the delicious breakfast. It was extremely romantic to be able to sit out on the deck at night and stargaze. Overall we had a great time. The reason I give cleanliness 3 out of 5 is because when I was making tea in the morning I poured sugar into my cup and two ants came out. However everything else in the room was extremely clean and presentable. We would recommend.
Yikes! We were aware of this most probably the day after the guests were here. We used a pour spout sugar pourer and had no idea that we had ants in the room. We try to be environmental friendly and not use sprays unless we see a problem,(spiders in the fall). So sorry that this happened but you could not see the ants in the sugar, Nancy dropped the container and saw 2 ants! So sorry. Rita

My husband and I celebrated our 23rd anniversary at The Elephant Walk. We stayed in the Cadiz room and loved it. Our favorite parts of the stay: the wine, cheese and crackers in the room; the beautiful, private patio; and the scrumptious breakfast. Rita was delightful to talk and listen to, and she recommended a great restaurant for dinner--Marx Bistro.

4.6 on August 24, 2011
We absolutely loved staying in the Cadiz room at The Elephant Walk. The room & amenities were amazing and the food was out of this world! Rita and Mike go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable- you get a bottle of wine, cheeses, crackers, nuts and chocolate for each night of your stay. There's satellite radio, wifi, games, books, soda, water, coffee and tea available in the room. We loved the room so much that we ended up spending far more time staying in than we had intended- it was just so relaxing. My only criticism is that the bathroom is tiny - this was not a problem for me so much, but my husband is quite tall and could barely fit. But honestly the rest of the room is so great that it didn't matter. We will definitely be back!!
5 on August 22, 2011
We had a fabulous time at the Elephant Walk! We stayed in the Raffles room, which was beautifully luxurious. The grounds & gardens are so peaceful & lovely, and Mike & Rita were super friendly and helpful. We can hardly wait to come back! We are recommending it to all our friends.

We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before so I wasn't sure what to expect. First impression of the space was that it was cluttered. I understand the want/need to decorate but it felt like the only open floor spaces were the pathways from room to room and seating area to seating area. On the flip side, I was blown away at the quaility and quantity of the breakfast served! The stuffed french toast was wonderful!!!

This place is beautiful both inside and out. The hosts are attentive, but not overbearing. We appreciated coming in after a long day to a bottle of bubbly, yummy chesse and crackers, and a relaxing room. We would most certainly stay there again.

Charming and intimate. The owner welcomes you into her world, and its a very exotic and cozy one. Breakfast with the other guests is a wonderful way to meet new people. The room was very comfortable and had an ample supply of yummy treats to snack on. Our room also came with a complimentary bottle of wine, cheese, chocolates and fruit. The bathtub was big enough to live in. Beautiful room, big bed, delicious breakfast and treats, a tranquil garden. The Elephant Walk is a great value, all for the same price as a regular hotel. Definitely will recommend this B&B!

The absolute friendliness of everyone we encountered. The food was delicious and we appreciated the portions which were enough to enjoy the delicious food and not an 'ugh' we ate too much food. Everything was very, very tasteful. Our only regret was that we had not booked a second night.

My boyfriend and I had a GREAT experience at the Elephant Walk! The wine and cheese upon arrival was great. We spent the evening playing board games that were in the room and enjoying the sights of Stillwater. The breakfast the next morning was just as great. If we could have afforded it, we would have stayed longer. I cannot wait to return soon.

My wife and I needed a relaxing weekend away. Rita and Mike far exceeded our expectations. The food was ridiculously tasty and filling, the wine and cheese were delicious. The room was not the usual doily laden BB. Felt more like a luxury hotel. We will definitively be staying again at The Elephant Walk.

My husband I stayed at the Elephant Walk B&B for a week (our anniversary) and loved everything! We stayed in the Chiang Mai which was wonderfully decorated. Every drawer or door you open has something interesting. I didn't expect a three course gourmet (and so delicious every day) breakfast at all. The garden at the back of the house is extraordinary with lots of places to hang out. We had intended several day trips but found the B&B so relaxing, that we didn't leave Stillwater. Rita and Mike are excellent hosts ... loved listening to Rita's stories. I highly recommend the Elephant Walk B&B for anyone wanting a taste of the exotic without needing a passport.

A true gem... This victorian mansion is filled with exotic and lovely things from Thailand and beyond. It is an adventure to stay here. One not to be missed. Rita and Mike are such amazing hosts. You will feel right at home. They made my husband and I special meals because we don't eat some things and they were outstanding. This was our 6th visit and we loved each one more than the next... Hope you will as well... Oh and the linens are top of the line as is everything else.

My wife and I biked up the Gateway Trail to Stillwater from Minneapolis. When we arrived, we soothed our tired legs in the hot tub. The best breakfast we've ever had in a B&B. We highly recommend Elephant Walk.
5 on July 20, 2011
My husband and I have visited the Elephant Walk four times and each time, was better than the time before. The rooms are simply beautiful, and we enjoy a low-key relaxed wine-and-cheese hour in our room. The breakfast is delightful...we always look forward to seeing what Rita and Mike dish up. Would really recommend this B&B! Hayley & Javier Coon Rapids Minn.

The Elephant Walk is a wonderful place to stay! The house is decorated in such a unique style I couldn't stop looking around at all of her collections. The room was decorated wonderfully and the double jacuzzi tub was awesome. We kind of slept though breakfast but had a fruit plate and a scone. It was delicious! Rita and Mike are excellent hosts and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

This was our third visit to Elephant Walk. As always, Rita, Mike and the rest of the staff made our stay perfection. We are always at a loss, stay in all day and relax in our wonderful room, or go the few blocks into beautiful downtown Stillwater? This stay, relaxing in the room was the key to success! We are rested, relaxed and rejuvenated.

Place was clean. Rita was very nice and took care of us very well. Excellent food. Only thing bothered me was that there was some bad odor in the room where we stayed. we ere in Rangoon. I am not sure where the smell was coming from but we got rid of it by spraying some room freshener.

I wanted to surprise my boyfriend with a night away for his birthday and our 2 year aniversary. Either one of us had ever been to a bed and breakfast, the Elaphant Walk was a very unique and pleasant place to stay. The room was fantastic. Being at a bed and breakfast we didn't know how much privacy we would have, it seemed like we were the only ones there! We deffinately want to go back. We also really enjoyed that fact that is was walking distance to Main Street in Stillwater.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary with an escape to Stillwater and found the Elephant Walk to be a great place to stay! The food was absolutely wonderful for breakfast; we didn't really need lunch! We stayed in both the Rangoon and the Garden Cadiz rooms. We loved the decor and comfort of both. The Rangoon had a longer tub but we loved the deck overlooking the garden in the Garden Cadiz. We look forward to our next escape to Stillwater and will definitely stay at the Elephant Walk again.

Not your ordinary B and B. Recommendation from a friend led us to this wonderful place. Our fifth stay in four years. Rita and Mike are gracious and welcoming hosts. Breakfasts are extraordinary, unique, flavorful, delicious...a fruit and homemade scone beginning, followed by a unique "meal" egg creation, and then a dessert. When staying here, it feels like time stops still for awhile, and the unique decor from their many travels provides for a feeling of an exotic escape. Definitely will return. :)

I found the B&B very interesting. There were many items to look at and discuss. The garden area was very nice and is still be improved. The house is located in a residential area but the privacy from our room is still maintained. Many trees and plants around help this. I was very amused and relaxed at the B&B. Thank you very much for a memorable stay.

We received a gift certificate for a wedding present and had to use it by the end of the month, since my husband was deployed for 6 months and really enjoyed our time at the Elephant Walk! We stayed in the Rattan Room and it was very relaxing and beautifully decorated! The wine, cheese, grapes, nuts and chocolates waiting for us when we arrived was a great way to start our stay and the breakfast was an amazing and delicous work of art! I hightly recommend the Elephant Walk and it also makes for a perfect gift! Thank you Rita & Mike for sharing your amazing house with others!

We had such a pleasant experience at the Elephant Walk that we wished we had booked an additional night. It felt like we were in a dreamland and the rest of the world melted away. The main livingroom of the room was filled with interesting artifacts from Mike and Rita's travels. The individual rooms were each unique and beautifuly decorated - almost magical. We enjoyed the complementary bottle of wine, fruit and cheese plate, jacuzzi, candles, gardens, private deck, screened in porch, and fabulous gourment breakfast.

This was our second trip to the Elephant Walk. Rita is an enjoyable host, the homemade crackers with cheese fruit and wine are a lovely touch, and the rooms are run and romantic. We love bed and breakfasts but aren't into the flowery frilly decor found in many Victorian houses. The Elephant Walk suits our style very well. Rita sells Southeast Asian treasures collected from her yearly trips in the common area downstairs, and those are fun to look through too. The breakfast is very tasty, garnished with edible plants and flowers from the Elephant Walk garden. Highly recommended.

Rita and Mike were great! We stayed for our 5 year anniversary and it was perfect. The rooms are amazing and all the little amenities that they think about makes the stay exceptional. We will be back hopefully every year for our anniversary and maybe some more times in between.
4.6 on June 13, 2011
This was a great place to stay while we were in Stillwater for a wedding. Rita immediately made us feel like we were part of the family. And the decor? To say it's eclectic is an understatement. Rita and Mike's tenure in Southeast Asia is evident everywhere, turning a turn-of-the-century Victorian into something altogether unique. And those meals? Wow, incredible. The only way to go away hungry or unsatisfied is to not go to breakfast, which is a four course panoply of delight. I can't say I would stay here on a regular basis (I live in New Mexico and can't afford Stillwater most of the time), I would happily recommend it to anyone who wants a wonderfully unique and beautiful place to stay.
5 on June 07, 2011
We had a delightful time at this lovely home which is an exotic spot with the strong, lush presence of Thailand housed in a beautiful Victorian mansion. Rita and Mike have such a vibrant artistic sense that lies behind the inside, outside and the food of the Elephant Walk.

My husband and I stayed in the cadiz room for our mini-moon and it was a perfect little romantic hideaway. The extras provided (wine, beverages, and snack basket) were great! The breakfasts were delightful; delicious and beautiful. Rita and Mike do great work decorating and gardening; it seemed as though we were walking into a whole new beautiful world, even though we were minutes away from downtown stillwater. Rita and Mike are very friendly, pleasant and welcoming hosts.

My wife and I stayed at the Elephant Walk B&B in the raffles room. Everything was excellent for our stay. Rita our host was very helpful. Highlights were the cascading waterfall whirpool, Cool west Indies theme room and the brekfast the next morning was excellent. We were provided bikes to drive down into downtown, and enjoyed the garden in the back yard. In all an excellent trip. The rate could have been less but the experience was more than we expected!! We will be back again..........Craig & Kara Lewandowski

I HIGHLY recommend a stay at this bed and breakfast for any occasion. It is a spectacular, beautiful building with genuinely hospitable people.

The Elephant Walk B&B is not only a quiet and peaceful retreat, it is chock full of the most interesting array of goodies from SE Asia, mainly Viet Nam, Cambodia and Thailand. Shortly after we arrived, we received a tray of yummy cheeses and crisp wafers to enjoy with sparkling cider (normally wine, but we passed on that). Then, after a very comfortable night in a cozy bed, complete with soft white netting gracefully swirled above our heads, we were served the most scrumptious breakfast!! Fruit, muffins, puffy french toast were all spectacular and voraciously devoured. We would highly recommend a trip to Stillwater and a stay at The Elephant Walk! Hosts Rita and Mike have traveled extensively and their stories are very interesting and entertaining.

The Elephant Walk is a 'not-to-be-missed' opportunity to relax and be pampered. The food is amazing, the hosts are warm, engaging and interesting, the parlors are inviting and fascinating... best of all, the rooms are intimate, private, and lovely. Rooms are equipped with the finest amenities, a whirlpool bath, wine and cheese, and gurgling fountains. You will not be disappointed.

Our room was incredibly charming. There's little details of art from Southeast Asia everywhere we looked. From the home made crackers with a great variety of cheese to the wonderful 4 course breakfast with a non-stop coffee source, (Rita!), we felt very pampered. We really enjoyed walking in the back yard; very lush and again, the artwork tucked every little place we looked. We only stayed a night, but truly felt rejuvenated by the time we left.

My husband and I were very pleased with The Elephant Walk. It's a unique experience amongst all of the other Victorian style Bed and Breakfasts in Stillwater. The rooms are filled with artifacts from various countries and everything was very clean and cozy. Soft lighting and classical music welcome you to your room (along with a bottle of wine and homemade cheese and crackers). The best part for us was the jacuzzi in the room (we stayed in The Raffles) complete with candles, bubble bath, and bath salts. It was also nice having complimentary water and soft drinks in the room. The breakfast was fresh pineapple, a homemade scone, stuffed french toast with sausage, and a little slice of decadent, chocolate, torte-like cake. The owners were very hospitable and friendly. We would definitely stay there again.

In the past, we always stayed at different B&Bs, but when I found The Elephant Walk we found the best so that is the only one we go to now. Stillwater has a lot of great restaurants and shopping.

We stayed at the Elephant Walk (Cadiz Garden Suite) for 2 nights this past weekend. I can't say enough how amazed we were! It was my first time staying in a B&B, and I'm forever glad we chose the Elephant Walk. Sasha was our host and was incredible. The room was perfect, the company was awesome, and the breakfast divine! Can't wait to go back!

This B&B is an amazing place. Not only did the staff make us feel special, we felt like we were back in Chang-Mai. This most amazingly decorated room (Chang-Mai) and house, (Thailand duplicated) was just what we needed to celebrate our 31st anniversary. When you choose a B&B do not pass up on this experience.

I highly recommend the Elephant Walk for a romantic, relaxing, full service Bed & Breakfast. The Raffles room was amazing and the welcome package made you feel right at home the moment you stepped into your room. Breakfast was bountiful and delicious, and the staff were very friendly and hospitable. A great place for a getaway!

We stayed this past weekend in the Cadiz Suite. It was wonderful & truly relaxing. The decor is very inviting & the whirlpool was great. As always the breakfast was fabulous & we very much appreciated topping off our quiet, kid-free weekend with breakfast in our room. Thank you for the hospitality!

It almost seemed customized to our very own tastes, religious background, and interests. It was a very excellent stay away from home. We are definitely looking forward to staying again.

Sasha was the most gracious host I have ever encountered. From the wine and cheese basket waiting in our room to the cozy fireplaces, the mouthwatering breakfast in bed-Everything was perfect! We will be back soon, and cannot wait to visit again this summer. Thank you!!

This was our third visit to the Elephant Walk. As we parked our car we were already discussing when we would return for our fourth. We are always warmly greeted by the staff and the entire atmosphere of our stay is warm and friendly. The food and wine provided never fail to please us and it's always a treat to see what we'll be surprised with at breakfast. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and beutifully as well as interestingly decorated. What a gem we have found!

Our stay at the Elephant Walk was wonderful. The wine, cheese, and crackers each night were an excellent addition to the already beautiful room. The four course breakfast each morning was delicious! The rooms were amazing, and the location was great. Walking distance to spas, restraunts, and shopping. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We can't wait to go back for our anniversary next year!

Every detail was thought of, the hostess was lovely and accommodating, the rooms beautiful and comfortable. I would move in if I could!!

We went here for a winter time "staycation," as we couldn't afford a warm weather destination. They were so flexible with us and didn't seem to mind that we didn't leave our room for nearly 24 hours! The champagne and cheese and cracker tray were such amazing touches, and that paired with the fire and the whirlpool made suffering through a MN blizzard not a problem at all! I have been to several B&B's, and this ranks among the best!

It was our first bed and breakfast experience. It was AMAZING!!! We had a great time just feeling pampered. They go the above and beyond in every aspect at the elephant walk. The room was beautiful and cozy! Breakfast was superb, and the hosts were fantastic. My husband and I both had our woes about doing the whole B&B thing. We thought it might be awkward checking in to someones house, breakfast may be uncomfortable with other people, my husband was worried about the lack of T.V. (ha!). All of worries were pretty much cast away the second we walked in. It was a very warm, inviting atmosphere! I would recommend it to ANYONE!

All of this while the owners were on vacation. Hat's off to the owners Daughter and Son-in-law, you made it the best over night get away my Husband and I have had in a long time.

This was our first experience at a Bed and Breakfast and it totally exceeded our expectations! After a day of skiing this was the icing on the cake. Sasha was the perfect host and made us feel comfortable right away. It feels like you are walking into a different world at the Elephant Walk. There is so many treasures to look at and discover. There was cheese, crackers and food waiting for us in the room. We even had our own fireplace and jacuzzi! We slept soundly and woke up to a wonderful breakfast that was beautifully prepared. It was the prefect weekend trip!

A very nice B & B with great (and plentiful) Southeast Asian accents everywhere. The house is lovingly maintained, and is on a charming property. The staff was really friendly, and enjoyed chatting with us for a long while after the elegant and tasty breakfast. A very good deal for the price.

We had an exceptional time during our stay at the Elephant Walk. The breakfast was fantastic and the service couldn't have been better. My only complaint would be that I'm tall and the bed was a little short...I couldn't stretch out, so I didn't sleep that well, otherwise everything was great.

My wife and I always enjoy to come back to the Elephant walk which we do about once every 2 years since we stayed there after our wedding 8 years ago! The decor is very unique and it's always fun to look at everything Rita and Mike have collected. The rooms are very comfortable and there is always a nice treat waiting when you get there. Last but not least they serve an incredible breakfast- we especially love the cream cheese stuffed french toast. Thank yo again for a nice stay and we will for sure be back!

We love Minnesota winters and all, but this was a the perfect reprieve for a weekend. It is immediately apparent that the adornments and inspiration of the home is an authentic accumulation of experiences abroad. Service was excellent, the hosts crafted one of the best breakfast spreads we've had--and the cheese & wine platter put us over the edge in bliss. Thank you for a wonderful time!

When I booked my reservation at the Elephant Walk, I had never been to a bed and breakfast and was excited to try it out for my boyfriend's birthday. We both enjoyed ourselves, not only was the room more than I bargained for, the atmosphere was cozy and friendly. We were very lucky to have had shared the B&B with two other great and friendly couples. I would definitely recommend the Elephant Walk, and I would definitely try another B&B again.

The elephant walk is so unlike the traditional B&B. The decor in each room is fascinating and very well done. The bed is comfy with bedding that makes you never want to get out. Rita is a lovely hostess- so interesting as well as interested. I recommend Th Elephant Walk to anyone staying in Stillwater.

We have traveled near and far and stayed in many B and B's, this is a unique experiece. There is so much to see here that you can hardly take it all in. The tray of fruits, nuts, and homemade crackers plus a bottle of wine are a special touch that you don't often see. It was a wonderful stay in a the beautiful city of Stillwater.

We recently stayed an evening at The Elephant Walk for our 20th anniversary; our first encounter was last year and what can we say... we loved it so much we came back! Nothing's changed; still the same great service, fabulous food, and wonderful conversations with Rita (and Mike) and the other guests. I always find a few things to purchase to remind me of my stay. We will be back! The first year was the Cadiz, this year the Chang Mai, so the next couple of years we'll have to venture to the other rooms! this is the 2nd year in a row we've been here, and plan to stay again in years to come. If you want to really do something extraordinary with your partner, this is the place to go. So unlike your typical B&B; their breakfast is a culinary delight, and the hosts, Rita and Mike, have wonderful world-travel experiences they share with their guests!

Everything about our stay at the Elephant Walk B&B was amazing! They provided everything we needed. The wine, cheese, and crackers was so fun, the room was comfy, and the breakfast was delicious. The bed wasn't the most comforable, but the big tub made up for it. We didn't stop smiling the whole time we were there :)

My husband and I stay every year for at least 2 nights at the Elephant Walk. This is the fifth year that we have returned for our annual stay. This is by far our favorite place. Rita and Mike pay attention to every detail. The food is beyond wonderful-I especially like the stuffed french toast and flourless chocolate cake and of course the scones. Rita and Mike know each of the guests by name upon arrival and do an excellent job of making people feel welcome. At the Elephant Walk you are not just a customer, but a friend. We appreciate the beautifully decorated rooms and the little "perks"-chocolate, the decor, the great conversation and especially the wine and cheese with Rita's homemade crackers. Even though Stillwater has a lot of attractions, we enjoy just staying in our room in the evenings and reading/knitting in front of the fireplace. You will never find a better B&B, especially at such reasonable rates. See you again next year!

What a delightful evening! Rita had a bottle of wine and her delicious crackers waiting for us in an upgraded room (Thank you!) so we could enjoy the balcony. We took a cooking class in Stillwater and returned for a soak in the tub, cozy fire and a dreamy sleep. Breakfast was delicious and Rita took the time to sit and visit with us in the morning. Our stay was wonderful and we wil return. Thank you Rita and Mike. It was wonderful visiting with both of you.

Stayed in the "Raffles" room, which was filled with fun decor and a VERY comfortable bed. We received more than expected with a bottle of wine, large cheese/fruit plate, and a candy dish awaiting us upon arrival. Excellent choice for our 1 yr anniversary! Breakfast by Mike and Rita was delicious, and would be a pretty penny at any local restaurant!
3.2 on October 21, 2010
My husband and I definitely enjoyed our stay at Elephant Walk. They offer nice perks that you don't see at most other B & B's, such as a cracker/cheese/fruit basket and a bottle of wine upon arrival AND a fully stocked fridge with drinks. Also, the decor is really interesting and unique, which we appreciated. The things we didn't like as much...the room was small for the price, it didn't contain many toiletries that are usually provided (such as conditioner and lotion), and the breakfast included many sweet items without much savory to balance it out. Overall, though, it was an enjoyable stay.
5 on October 15, 2010
We have stayed at The Elephant Walk before. Our innkeepers never miss a beat to make our stay all that we want. The room decorations are authentic Asian. An instant-on fireplace makes the room cozy and comfortable. And the food is fantastic!
4.6 on October 14, 2010
It was a beautifully, elegant place to spend a night in! Everything was nicely kept with many amenities that hotels and other B&B's don't offer. Our room was much bigger than I thought with a balcony to dream of. The bottle of wine & the cheese/cracker samples were delicous. It was a very quiet stay which was great! Breakfast in the morning was something I hope I can make one day but not quite a good enough chef. I would recommend this place to all who want a very romantic & intimate evening alone.
5 on October 05, 2010
The Elephant Walk was incredible! My husband and I spent our 1-year anniversary here, and Rita and Mike spare no details. We felt like we were an airplane ride away from home but only had to travel 20 minutes. Rita and Mike were nice to talk to, and really added to our experience with little things (unique room attributes, wine, cheese, and crackers every day of our stay, and an awesome breakfast). We'll be back for sure:-)

My beloved and I spent a night in the far east at The Elephant Walk in Stillwater MN. One night was a refreshing retreat from the daily grind in a home that makes you believe you are far, far away. We had the Chiang Mai room. It was richly decorated in gold and bronze tones with touches of Siam in every corner. The grounds are beautiful and the common areas of the home are comfortable, with an almost overwhelming array of Far East trinkets and treasures to peruse and perhaps purchase. We were greeted at the door by our hostess Rita and led directly to our room where we found a welcoming nosh of cheese/crackers/fruit and a delightful bottle of wine. Rita encouraged us to relax, unwind and enjoy ourselves - and with no tv we pretty much had to talk to each other! Eventually we made it out of our room and strolled downtown Stillwater. For an eclectic bar-room experience with very decent food we recommend the MadCapper on Main Street. Breakfast the next morning was as advertised, sumptuous! Not recommended for the Diabetics out there but they will accomodate your dietary needs. Mike did the cooking and serving. Rita sat with us and regaled us with tales of her travels in Thailand and points East. We highly recommend a night or two at The Elephant Walk as a relaxing and romantic excursion!

For my first B&B experience, the Elephant Walk exceeded any expectations I had. The place is gorgeous, Mike and Rita were welcoming, charming, and hospitable, the food was delicious... it's probably going to ruin my future B&B stays because I'm sure that there aren't many others out there (that I'll be able to afford, anyway) that can compete with the Elephant Walk. I will definitely be returning there someday!

The Elephant Walk is the best B&B I've ever stayed at! The rooms are uniquely and tastefully decorated with treasures from Rita and Mike's travels. Breakfast was amazing and the basket of cheese, fruit, crackers, and wine waiting in the room when we checked in was a wonderful bonus. I will definitely be back!!

My husband and I have spent our last 10 anniversaries at the Elephant Walk: it is this special to us! The lovely Victorian is a feast of Thailand. Whether or not you have traveled to that part of the world, you will feel transported there by the décor, the conversation, the ambience. Rita and Mike, the hosts , will greet you with a basket of lovely cheeses, fruits and wine, happily point you to various restaurants for dinner and local bike paths and serve an excellent breakfast which they obviously enjoy making, The overnight at Elephant Walk always feels like at least a long weekend vacation to us, it is such a change of atmosphere and so beautiful.

We had never done the B&B thing before, and I'm so glad that our first experience was here. It's a beautiful Victorian with lovely decor and grounds. We stayed in the Rangoon room, which is smaller than the others, but very nice. (Though not recommended for tall people - the bed is 2" shorter than a standard queen. Boyfriend is 6'6", and slept diagonally.) They provide wine, fruit, cheese and home-baked crackers on arrival, in addition to the mini-fridge stocked with complimentary beverages. I believe each room has a whirlpool tub. We slept through breakfast, but the fruit and scones that Rita kept out for us were excellent, and she's just a delightful woman to talk with. We were sorry that we were only there for one night - it was hard to leave.

We had never stayed at a B&B, and The Elephant Walk came highly reccomended. Because of the love of the movie, I assumed a theme of elephants/Africa was what was in store....was I ever surprised, T.E.W offers you the chance to be wisked away to a far off destination, with sights and stories, provided by Rita, that are truly a once in a life time oppurtunity to travel leave the country, without leaving Minnesota! A true delight of decor, company, food, and a treat for all those that come.

I am not one to write reviews however I think sharing my adventure is my responsibility. If you are looking for THE best of experience then this B&B take the cake. The house, Rita the owner, the rooms and all were one we will remember. I have stayed all over the world at wonderful places but I just love this place called The Elephant Walk in Stillwater,Mn. I am an artist and color, and attention to detail is a necessity for me. The use of color and materials that you are surrounded with make this place beyond most people's experience. I also loved the breakfast...This is what one might enjoy at a five star restaurant yet you feel a sense of family here. I heard from a friend that Rita ,while living in Thailand ,had breakfast with the crowned prince every Thursday! It shows. Her stories are so much fun to listen to and I feel her motivation for this kind of service is just the expression of a great heart. If you enjoy the regular...one that you may be able to tell toa friend and they too will have had the experience then stay some where else...But if you want to share a tale of your adventure then go to the Elephant Walk. Each room invited me to stay...I will enjoy my next stay in the room where I can sit in the whirlpool shares a wall with the aquarium. No where is it written that a B&B owner needs to offer such quality. The duvet cover in my room was a hand tailored 4 ply hand woven silk in the most beautiful green peacock color. It was a wonderful time only spoiled by the limit of a 2 night stay.
