The Marshall Estate and B&B

Beautifully decorated home & wonderful food & hostess. Would recommend this place for a get-a-away!! Loved that we had a little tv in our room as well.

We stayed here this last weekend and Mary Jo was the best hostess you could ask for. No corner was cut for service and the food was delicious! Everything was clean when we arrived and cleaned throughout the stay as well so it was relaxing and very enjoyable. I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone!

We had a wonderful time at this bed & breakfast. Six of us had a very relaxing weekend. Mary Jo was a gracious hostess that made sure we had everything we needed. The rooms were nicely decorated and comfortable. We would certainly recommend this to anyone wanting to get away and relax.

Sept 28-29, 2012 Enjoyed a beautiful weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Mary Jo couldn't have been more gracious and fun to talk with. She is a very ambitious lady. You could not go wrong in choosing this delightful, cozy get-away.

I am a traveling Physical Therapist and was recently assigned to Litchfield on a 2 week contract. Instead of staying in an impersonal and cramped motel room, I chose The Marshall Estate and B&B. I could not have been more pleased. My bedroom and bathroom were large, wonderfully appointed and immaculately clean. The town of Litchfield was fun for my girlfriend to visit, with it's antique shops and beautiful Lake Ripley. I highly recommend The Marshall Estate and B&B for the business traveler or as a weekend getaway.

We made a last minute reservation and we enjoyed all the details that Mary Jo pays careful attention to. The feather bed was awesome! The bouquet of flowers and chocolates were a great touch to celebrate our anniversary. A wonderful get-away!

Stayed for 1 night with 2 kids - Mary Jo was welcoming and made sure the kids were entertained as well as the adults. Breakfast was lovely, rooms comfortable and she was able to give us ideas of restaurants to go to/things to do in the area. Decent quality towels and lovely sheets with a comfortable bed. Would stay again. [Note: this is a B&B, not a hotel. That means its someone else's house you are living in. Some rooms share a bathroom - which didnt bother us but might bother some people. The shared bathroom was spotless. ]

If you want to feel special, this is the place to go. The house is wonderful and kept very clean and comfortable. Mary Jo makes you feel right at home. The candle lit breakfast was great! Will I go back? YES!! Thanks Mary Jo!

Had a wonderful time with 8 Ambassador Girl Scouts and my co-leader. Right from the start, Mary jo made sure we would be all happy with the meal and Mystery Dinner. Even our picky eaters were taken care of. We all had lots of laughs!

The Marshall Estate Bed and Breakfast was so comfortable. Mary Jo made you feel at home. From the beginning of our stay till when we checked out, Mary Jo was like a very dear friend. When you asked questions of what there was to do, she was very knowledgeable. Rachel and Glenn MN

We needed a break from months of remodeling and we hadn't been to a B&B in that part of MN so we thought we'd try it. Well, and it was a Groupon deal, too! Mary Jo was very friendly and welcoming; you can tell that she loves her home and her job as hostess! Our room was very nice and those sheets...wow!! Also, she was very accomodating regarding my VERY picky eating! The only drawback is the only one bathroom deal.I wish we would have known that going in, mostly because I tend to have a lot of stuff and like to be able to just being able to leave it until I go. And just trying to judge when to be able to use it with other people there.

Recently my mom and I made a trip to MN to attend a family members buriel. Upon arriving, we were greeted by Mary Jo, the innkeeper. She was very warm and welcoming. It had been a long day of travel and to be met with her genuine kindness and an excellent assortment of goodies: fresh fruit, cheese and crackers was very comforting. The B&B is beautiful and after spending some time with Mary Jo it was easy to see that her house and business is truly a passion for her...and that is how it should be. The craft of this home is amazing, the rooms are decorated very nicely--they are comfortable and beautiful. I truly felt taken care of and pampered and I also felt that our privacy was respected. I would not hesitate to visit Mary Jo and the Marshall B&B when in the area. I am so glad we found it and I thank Mary Jo for her hospitality.

We were disappointed in our room the first night of our stay. It was 95 degrees and humid outside and then we find out our room has no air conditioning. The next night we were able to get another room and that room was outstanding. Also, all 4 bedrooms had to share one bathroom. Neither of these things were stated on the websites. They should have been so guests know what to expect. The owner/hostess was very friendly and accommodating. The decor was lovely. We were attending a family reunion so we did not have any meals at the B&B but, I am sure they would have been delisious. We would stay at The Marshall Estate again, just not in the un-airconditioned room in the summer.

Our stay at the Marshall Inn was very relaxing and comfortable. What a lovely place!

My husband and I wanted a night to just relax and get away without children. This inn provided exactly what we needed. Mary Jo was very thoughtful and accomodating, even helping us to find someone to come in for a massage. She offered wine and privacy. The food, however, wasn't the best. Some of it seemed to be reheated rather than fresh. Nonetheless, I would return when in need of some R and R.

We enjoyed a tea at the Marshall Estate for my mothers birthday. We loved the atmosphere of the place, our host was very gracious. Most impressive to us was the decor and character of the place.

Our Red Hats group had a WONDERFUL luncheon at The Marshall Estate and B&B on Saturday. Mary Jo is a great hostess and a fabulous cook! Mary Jo makes all her guests feel at home with her warm personality and great hospitality. Her unique decorating ideas, the antiques, and the rooms full of sunlight added to an already pleasant atmosphere. We plan on returning again for another delightful experience of great food, flavored coffee, delicious dessert, the warmth of the sunroom and being treated like queens. Thank you again Mary Jo for an outstanding Red Hats luncheon.

We stayed at the Marshall Estate and B&B on Saturday 4/24/10. There were 8 of us - all women related to each other! Mary Jo was very flexible with the check-in time. She was so welcoming to all of us. We rented out all 4 rooms with our bunch so we had the Estate exclusively for the night. The Marshall Estate was decorated so nicely and felt so home like. Mary Jo is an excellent cook. She prepared a yummy brunch for us on Sunday morning. She treated us all as though we were royalty. It was a "thumbs up" stay for all of us! Very enjoyable. This is a wonderful place to go for luncheons, special occassions, and the sheets on the beds were unbelievable!!! Best nights sleep ever!!! I purchased a set before I left.. Cheryl L.

We, a party of 4, visted The Marshall Estate on Saturday, Feb. 13th for a "romantic Valentine's Day" dinner. The evening was most enjoyable! The ambiance, beautiful table settings, delicious 5 course dinner and endless wine provided a wonderful respit for good conversation and comfortable friendship. The innkeeper, Mary Jo Smith is a great hostess! We all had a marvelous time and will be revisiting The Marshall Estate in the future.

We went for a romantic Valentine's Dinner and had a five course meal served to us fireside. The food was extraordinary as was the service. This was our most memorable Valentine's Day date ever.

Our family had a Bridal Shower for my youngest daughter at the Marshall Estate and B&B. The atmosphere was very warm and comfortable. We had a delightful experience and enjoyed flavored coffee and a fruity punch. The food was served on beautiful dishes and trays. We were very impressed with the hostess and the hospitality. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

Very enjoyable stay with outstanding food.

Mary-jo was the perfect hostess. We had wonderful discussions around the breakfast table. Got away from the hectic life for a day. Enjoyed dinner at Peter's walked the local gardens and watch the sunset over Lake Ripley.

We had a Staff Lunch party on Sunday afternoon. We had a very nice time and the lunch was very good. Our dessert was awsome. I think that this would be a great place for a business meeting.

A lovely place.

Mary Jo Smith, owner, is a delight and works hard to service her guests. After our night stay, it was very cold and our car wouldn't start. She went out of her way and we got in our way home laughing. She is a good cook as well.

When I arrived it was rainy and cool and Mary Jo took me up to my room with the fireplace and the rocking chair and I was immediately at home. Her garden room overlooking her backyard had the white blossoms of a mock orange peeking in the window - this is a wonderful place to sit and relax and have a hot cup of tea or a cool drink on a hot day - Mary Jo's attentiveness to my needs made my visit everything I could ask for. Thanks so much for your kindness, Mary Jo.
