Stone Mill Suites at the Lanesboro FEED MILL-Winter
The Root River that winds through area fields and beneath the bluffs provides guests to the area with opportunities to see a picturesque landscape by kayak, canoe, or inner tube. Each year many fly fishermen can be found casting their lines. A day on the river is complete with an evening of relaxation in a double whirlpool tub and queen bed. This handicap accessible suite has a private bath.
Little Lanesboro in the valley is a garden full of magnificent views, of rhubarb, a river, a dam, and a landscape filled with wildflowers. The Garden Loft Suite represents Lanesboro’s brilliant show of garden glory. The suite offers a king bed aloft, overlooking a relaxing sitting area with an iron-claw fireplace, private bath, and a comfortable full size futon for added guests.
In bluff country, rolling hills give way to rich fertile farm lands. Majestic bluffs bring joy to our visiting friends amid a beautiful area that is supported by both tourism and the local farming industry. The Farm suite honors the life and work of the local farmer. Sit in our hay mow loft, soak in a double whirlpool bath and enjoy the fire of an iron-claw fireplace. A queen bed, two twin futons and a private bath are the classic amenities of this suite.
This suite tucked in on the lowest level is reminiscent of the buildings original use for cold storage. Ice was cut from the nearby mill ponds and brought here for goods to be stored. The exposed limestone walls warmly invite you to a simpler time. The Egg Suite offers a two person whirlpool tub, queen bed, private entrance, and adjoining room that can be rented for extra guests. The hen house adjoins the Egg Suite. This additional room is only available with the Egg Suite. The Hen house is features a set of extra long bunk beds and a private bath. This room is perfect for families or groups of adults.
The Lanesboro area has many natural forest settings. Beautiful hardwoods and stately pines are testimony to area goals of sustainability and ecologically friendly land management. The forest suite provides a nature scene, with a bubbling two person whirlpool tub, a hardwood queen size bed adorned with forest leaves, mini-kitchenette, and private bath.
Many Lanesboro residents have commented that they most remember the limestone building being used for Egg and Poultry processing. This industry gave the building 30 years of its history. In tribute to all those that have worked long hours candling eggs and preparing chickens, we dedicate this room. The Crate Jacuzzi Suite features a two person whirlpool tub, queen bed, private entry, private bath, and comfortable full size futon for additional guests.
Corn, soybeans, and oats were stored in wooden bins that sat in the location of the grain room. The original auger which functioned as a feed transporter to place grain into the bins is still mounted to the ceiling. This richly colored room features a decorative loft, flour sifter, seed sower, and wheat sheaves carved into the bedpost. The Grain Room includes a queen bed, iron-claw fireplace and private bath.

We cannot say enough good things about the Stone Mill Hotel and Suites!

    May 06, 2013

We loved everything about our stay in Lanesboro. Started off with a massage at the Lanesboro Day Spa! Angie was fantastic! We stayed in the Garden Suite and loved the room! We had a king sized bed in a loft and the bed was soooo comfortable. The people at the hotel treated us like family! You could explore the hotel and every room was unique. It is a beautiful place. We enjoyed exploring the lovely town and eating at Pedal Pushers. The Bluffscape Amish Tour with Joan was great! She had a lot of info and took us to interesting farms! We will definitely return and highly recommend Stone Mill Hotel and Suites! Barb and Chuck from Mahtomedi, MN

    Perfect Place

    May 06, 2013

The Stone Mill Hotel & Suites was a perfect place for us. We wanted a quiet weekend away in Lanesboro for the right price and this met all of our expectations. Within walking distance of the shops in Lanesboro, the theatre, and many dining options. Plus a lovely porch to enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine. The continental breakfast was just right, and helped us to cut down on dining costs. There are a couple of areas available to sit as a group to talk or play games if you are traveling with others. Thanks for the great stay! - C&J

    Wonderful stay at Stone Mill

    April 29, 2013

We stayed at Stone Mill Hotel & Suites in Lanesboro April 26-28, 2013. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms were very comfortable, and we enjoyed getting to know some of the other guests at breakfast and sitting on the porch in one of their lovely wooden rockers. The day spa is fabulous! You are right on the Root River trail, near the wonderful Commonweal Theater and several good restaurants. What's not to like?

Wonderful place to stay in Lanesboro!

    November 26, 2012

We stayed in the feed mill, and it was awesome. During the day, it is not very private because you are located literally just off the lobby and there is about 2" of space under your door. You can hear every conversation, so I assume the people milling around (pun intended) can hear yours. But at night, you have the whole building to yourself, so it makes up for the lack of privacy during the day! We loved biking in the area, and the food was pretty good. Nice shopping, too. I would highly recommend the theater a block away. Overall, the accommodations were amazing and we would stay there again in a heartbeat. Slow pace of life, very relaxing!

Highly recommend the Stone Mill Hotel

    November 19, 2012

We would highly recommend staying at the Stone Mill in Lanesboro. It was very clean, very nice quaint freindly town. Cute, little shop to browse in, a winery and delcious salmon dinner at the "Intermission". Well worth the price, very relaxing. We can't say enough good things about the place!

    Amazing!!!

    November 16, 2012

Absolutely the best place I have ever stayed. Very clean, staff are as friendly and helpful as they possibly can be. This was our 2nd time at Stone Mill and we can't wait to go back. Already planning our return. We stayed on a Friday of the 2nd weekend of November. Also Lanesboro is a very nice, friendly little town with plenty to do. John V

    Must Stay!

    October 24, 2012

My husband and I stayed here for our 27th Anniversary and had a wonderful time. We stayed in the Egg Room and it was beautifully decorated and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful when looking for places to visit and eat. At the breakfast there were amazing pastries from a local bakery. We will visit again, hopefully soon!
