Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Rosewood Inn, located at 620 Ramsey St., Hastings, Minnesota, now welcomes guest as an eight guestroom Bed & Breakfast. The inn, which served as a private home and hospital, was marked for demolition when Innkeepers Pam & Dick Thorsen agreed to restore it. Along with its "sister" inn, Thornwood, the inns have been named "most romantic hideaway" by Mpls.- St.Paul Magazine, and specialize in, as one guest put it, "pampering with privacy." Just a short distance from the Twin Cities in the quaint Mississippi rivertown of Hastings, the inn is listed on the National Register. The Rosewood was lovingly restored to offer 8 luxurious guestrooms, seven with double whirlpools and woodburning fireplaces. We spent a beautiful fall week at the historic Rosewood Inn in Hastings MN. Pam greeted us at the front door and gave us a tour of her beautiful home. We stayed in the Rebecca room which was extremely comfortable with antique furniture, fireplace, double whirlpool bath, and ice cream/cookies from the kitchen. It's close to the Twin Cities with lots of attractions and easy to visit friends and relatives. We enjoyed most of our time walking a few blocks downtown to several friendly restaurants, visiting the parks on the river, and biking on good trails. Each morning, Dick started our day with a fabulous breakfast. We chose the time to eat every morning and enjoyed sitting in each of the historic dining rooms. Our retirement travels have taken us to many beautiful places, but we plan on returning to the Rosewood Inn again this spring.

Our stay at the Penthouse Condo at Thorwood Inn was exceptional! The private elevator was a great help in getting settled. All the rooms are so charming. The kitchen is absolutely beautiful. What really struck us was the sitting area in what we called the "solarium" - with glass all around, fireplace, overstuffed chairs and you are literally up in the beautiful oak trees. We have to say that breakfast at Classic Rosewood Inn was over and above anything we expected. Hosts Pam & Dick treat you as family, very special. What a wonderful experience! We highly recommend the Penthouse Condo and hope to return. Jim & Deb Mpls., MN

We loved the presence of the home the moment we stepped through the doors. We loved the REAL wood burning fireplace. The romm we stayed in was the Spring Lake room and even though it was smaller we appreciated the coziness as it gave more of a victorian cabin feel in that you could fall asleep so close to a real wood burning fire and actually feel its warmth while falling asleep. The ambiance of the entire place truly was "magical"! I personally loved reading about and hearing from the owners how this majestic home was saved from the impending doom of demolition -- it made me appraciate being able to experience the history that might otherwise be covered by a parking lot today. The food was beyond wonderful, it was so unique and they took simple grapefruit (which I have NEVER liked) and other fruits and made it SO tasty that I actually finished the entire thing. They made this bacon that I will forever be dreaming about until I return again that had the most undescribably wonderful taste. If I sound over the top its only because it was really an amazing experience -- I loved every moment!! We even had the experience of locking our keys in our car with the lights on, normally this would have thrown my night completely off but because of the peaceful element that surrounds this house I honestly had no worries or cars that the problem couldn't be fixed (and it was). All this to say, this was a great time of destressing and recharging and enjoying life once again. We loved our stay and hope to go back again soon!! Thank-you to the lovely owners!!

My fiance and I are not regulars for B&Bs; we were looking for some space and private time alone from others and we found all that and more at the Rosewood! Pam and her delightful hubby are the owners and caretakers and that is exactly what they do. We felt like our every need was cared for and we had plenty of privacy to enjoy our time together. The Inn offers your meals in your room if you choose and that is what we did. We were amazed at how freeing it was to not have to go anywhere for our meal and not have to prepare it ourselves. We loved the owners efforts to provide sustainable practices and organic foods. We try to only eat locally sourced, sustainably raised/produced, organic foods which can be VERY difficult in the hotel and resort industry so we were super appreciative of the DELICIOUS foods offered. The Inn also offers a dinner that you can order in advance of your arrival and you can enjoy at the Inn, which we were happy to take advantage of, and that too was absolutely delightful. We left feeling very pampered. The Innkeepers attend to so many details; we were truly blown away. We look forward to our next anniversary there; we have made our reservations to return! Thank you Rosewood Inn!

My wife and I have stayed at the Rosewood probably a dozen times over the years. We have stayed their for special days and just to get away. We love everything about the inn and the inn keeper. The experience is always tremendous. The breakfast is to die for....we have never stayed anywhere else that comes close to the Rosewood

October 05, 2011
Last week, my husband and I drove down from the Twin Cities to enjoy the fall colors and to spend the night in Hastings, MN. We were given a gift certificate to the Rosewood Inn Bed and Breakfast by a friend: what a gift! We would definitely recommend this inn to anyone: it is a perfect, wonderful, lovely stay in a beautiful, Victorian home. We loved the Vermillion Room we stayed in: a real, wood-burning fireplace (they supply the wood!), jacuzzi tub, beautiful decorations - it was perfect. We loved everything from the free ice cream in the community freezer, to the gourmet breakfast, to the town (downtown Hastings is very cute). There is a bike trail very near by that was lovely to take around to see the surroundings. Pam is a perfect hostess and both she and her husband are wonderful cooks. Breakfast was so peaceful and delicious. What a wonderful place - I highly recommend it.

We just got back from a wonderful evening and night at the Rosewood Inn in Hastings. The innkeepers were very friendly and conscientious, and had many thoughtful touches, including; a bottomless cookie jar, ice cream and hot drinks in the porch pantry, handmade soap and high end lotions, shampoo and cream rinse in the room and a beautiful, delicious breakfast. We had a wonderful time!

This is a wonderful place to go for a weekend away from the noise and business of the city. We lived the whirlpool in our room where we soaked our stress away and enjoyed the complimentary cookies and ice cream. The breakfast the next morning was absolutely delicious and topped off our trip. Def a place to visit the next time you want to get away!
