4.4 out of 5Skara Brae
May 08, 2013
Our host at Skara Brae did a great job in making us welcome and providing what we needed. THanks for helping us have a great getaway. The breakfast was tasty and filling (even if he claims I was the first person in his 10 years there to ask for seconds!!) And he sat and chatted with us at breakfast so we could ask questions about local attractions etc.

We stayed here on our honeymoon in July. Being "older" newlyweds, we wanted some place quiet, peaceful but yet close to hiking and the lake. The accomodations are homey and comfortable. Ron is a great guy, attentive to needs but not intrusive. Breakfasts were amazing and the conversation around the breakfast table with other guests was great! Close to everything you want to see and do on the North Shore but a retreat off the beatne path.

4.8 out of 5Excellent Bed and Breakfast
November 08, 2012
We stayed in the Baird Cottage. This was an extremely nice room basically a separate building attached to the main living quarters. It had many windows which faced Lake Superior. It was very roomy and clean. We enjoyed it tremendously.

4.0 out of 5Weekend at Skara Brae
September 19, 2012
We stayed at Skara Brae for a weekend getaway and had a lovely stay. The owner was very helpful with recommendations for hikes and restaurants, and our room, the octogan addition to the house was excellent. Bed was amazing and the view can't be beat. Each of the three guest suites are somewhat separate from one another, which gives you plenty of privacy.

We had a wonderful two days at Skara Brae. The setting is beautiful, right on the shore of Lake Superior. The breakfasts were outstanding. Ron is a great host. We plan to return next fall.
