Beautiful property with lots of history, wonderfully decorated. The Hamel's are excellent hosts easy to talk to, full of good information about local events and eaterys. Would certainly entertain going back again, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Villa Calma to others.

We just visited for a second time, and highly recommend Villa Calma after 5 nights there since August. Dean is a delightful host who manages to combine being extremely attentive with being very laid back. And the food is delicious! The home is comfortable, extremely clean, and offers beautiful views of the lake. (And if you happen to be academics, like us, the enclosed porch is an excellent place for writing in the warmer months.) We were in Bemidji for business and found this to be a great place to be comfortable, relaxed, and if needed get work done. Bemidji has numerous charms (state parks; numerous good restaurants; walking, biking, and skiing trails; shops), and Dean will help you find the gems. We will be back, often we hope.

The Villa Calma B&B easily met or exceeded our expectations in every category. I found the host to be friendly, hospitable, and a wealth of information. The rooms were clean & tidy, and the food that was served for breakfast was well prepared, aesthetically pleasing, and quite tasty. In addition, its location close to downtown and the BSU campus made getting around on foot quite easy. I would highly recommend this bed & breakfast to anyone traveling to the Bemidji area and would definitely stay there again if the opportunity ever arose.
