A fantastic place to stay! Charming rooms, lovely innkeepers, and peaceful. Would come back again!

Dean and Theresa were wonderful hosts and delightful people too. The rooms are great, the grounds and views (even in the middle of winter) are beautiful. We throughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back in the Villa Calma next time we're in Bemidji!

Dean and Theresa were the most gracious hosts I had the privelage of becoming acquainted with, my girlfriend and I had no idea what to expect, from the welcome at the door, to the picture of everyone staying in the house, it was a memory we will cherish for a long time, it was like no one was a stranger , the house was beautiful, the room was welcoming and so comfortable, I will b back, thank you Deanand Theresa , Larry and Kathleen

Kim and Harold were so welcoming and helpful, and their b and b is so calm and luxurious, we had a wonderful stay. We look forward to visiting again when the sun is shining and we can enjoy the balcony and beautiful back porch--we would recommend this b and b in any weather!

My wife and I have stayed at B & B's in the past, but this one was by far our favorite. We will be back!

This was our first stay at a B&B and we don't ever want to stay in a hotel again if they are all like this one!! There were never any awkward moments. The other guests were so polite. The owners were very great at taking care of everything we needed. They even went the extra mile to make sure I had something to eat. I was nine weeks pregnant and they took into consideration my extreme morningsickness. Breakfast was awesome. The location couldn't have been more perfect, right on the lake in a beautiful neighborhood. There had been bad storms the week before and you really couldn't tell.

Highly recommend Villa Calma. Harold was a great host, friendly and accommodating without overdoing it. Left before breakfast was served but he sent a good continental bfast with me. Price was competitive with national hotel chains in the area.

They think of everything you might need or want and the food was wonderful.

My husband and I stayed at the Villa Calma after riding the Paul Bunyon Trail. (We had completed 9 days of cycling various trails in Minnesota.) Harold was a wonderful host selecting a wonderful moscato wine on our arrival along with an excellent salmon spread. He helped us with finding a restaurant within walking distance. Our room was beautiful and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was very tasty with a warm peach and berry dish I hadn't had before. We wish Harold and Kim all the best for their B&B.

Just everything was lovely...the food, the comfort of the rooms, the Great Room, the deck, the hammock and of course,the breakfast! Definitely a lovely bed and breakfast!

This B&B was beautifully decorated, clean and very comfortable. The owner was very helpful about the area and the breakfast was unbelievably delicious!

We spent two nights at Villa Calma when we dropped our son off at BSU. We will stay at Villa Calma every time we visit Bemidji. The rooms were remarkable, very clean and homey. The food was amazing! Harold was a fabulous host and chef. We rented two rooms and were pleased with both!!!! Thank you Villa Calma, we can't wait to stay again!!!!

We enjoyed our three night stay at the Villa Calma Bed & Breakfast very much. Kim & Harold's home is very charming and attractively decorated. Harold is a marvelous cook and we truly enjoyed the mouth watering breakfasts he served each morning of our stay. Harold was very helpful with the area attractions and restaurants. My husband and I had never stayed in a B & B before our stay at Villa Calma. It was absolutely perfect! The food was delicious, the place was spotlessly clean, the innkeeper was knowledgeable and friendly, the wine/snack time was a great treat, and the room was charming! We will stay again, the next time we visit Bemidji!

We were blown away by this bed and breakfast. When we first walked into Kim and Harold's home, our first impression was that it smelled really good. And once we saw our bedroom, we realized that it was kept immaculately clean. Harold was a wealth of information, and he provided us with a lot of good tips on where to bike in the area (his tips came from his experience, which was vast). He also took care of making our reservation for supper which made things very easy for us. Breakfast in the morning was lovely and delicious. This was the second time - and hopefully not the last time - that my daughter and I have stayed at Villa Calma. The reason that we came back is that is is a truly extraordinary B&B - the attention to detail in the rooms as well as in the unique and yummy breakfasts is superb. Kim and Harold are delightful hosts, and have a wealth of information about the area. The location is great - right across from the lake, but close to everything. Can't wait to come back!

Wow!! What a perfect stay! I live in Europe and have stayed at B&B's in many countries. This was by far the best. The rooms were lovely and very clean......not to mention comfortable. The food was outstanding. Everyday we were treated to something special. The icing on the cake though was Harold and Kim. Lovely, lovely people. Very helpful and very kind. You really shouldn't stay anywhere else. I would come to Bemidji just to stay with them. We came as guests and left as friends. Simply wonderful!

Harold is a great chef! The food was delicious, the room was clean and comfortable. When I find myself in Bemidji again, I will hope there is a room available!

My husband and I stayed in this b and b for three nights during the summer. There were multiple appealing public space options when one left one's room... an air-conditioned sitting and dining area -- it was appreciated during the hot weather, a screened/windowed porch, a deck, and a yard complete with a hammock and trees on the quiet lake-view lane. With only a few rooms, these ample public spaces were plenty quiet for my husband to do a little early morning internet writing work while I was still sleeping. If you have special food preferences, let your wishes be known so the owners will know how to please you. That is their goal --and they did a wonderful job with us!

I stayed at the Villa Calma following a 9.5 hour drive to drop off my kids at the Concordia Language Camps. Kim and Marty were very welcoming and warm. The fish dip that was offered at check in came from the local supermarket and having a severe allergy to crustaceans, I asked about the ingredients. As it could not be cofirmed that it did not contain crustaceans, Harry was very accomodating to offer an alternative dip. I asked Kim and Harry where to get a nice walleye for dinner and they were very kind to make reservations for me at the Cattails restaurant. There was sudden severe weather about ten minutes into my drive with sirens, 80mph winds and trees falling everywhere. I tried to get back to the Inn and made it back but was stuck in my car for most of the storm as I could not open the door. The villa lost power as well as a much beloved old oak tree in the front yard. A 2" mini flashlight was offered for light and I was surprised that there were no hurricane lamps/candles or other battery opered lighting for such occasions. Next morning, I came down the stairs to find an envelope with my name on it on the banister. I asked about it and Harry said it was money back for the breakfast I wouldn't be having that morning and a suggestion I go to Perkins. The downtown bakery was open and being a B&B, there could have been a 5 minute ride downtown to pick up local bakery items for breakfast. I guess my being the only guest that morning made it easier to offer cash back. I couldn't take the money and donated it to the lost tree fund. Coffee was brought up personally to my room by Harry before I left which was a nice touch. All in all, a wonderful home and a nice visit despite the awful weather!

Highly recommend this B & B - lots of extras included - complimentary wine and snacks for happy hour, complimentary soft drinks, tea, popcorn etc. Beautiful surroundings, garden - the house is immaculate.

Being a Bed & Breakfast owner myself I can honestly say that everything Kim and Harold did was perfect. We were well greeted and information was well laid out for our evening. The room was beautiful and well appointed. The breakfast...Harold...thank you for sharing this reciepe, it will be served with the story...FANTASTIC and DELICIOUS! This was the second time my wife and I have stayed at the Villa Calma, and we found very, very nice in all details. The room was upstairs, large and clean and had a balcony overlooking the large front yard and giving you a view of the lake. The breakfasts were excellent and very filling, so much so that we skipped lunch. The common areas downstairs were very large and well-stocked with games and books. The hosts were friendly and helpful and knew quite a bit about the local area.

They sure know how to make you feel at home at the Villa Calma. My room was clean, the furnishings were very elegant for the price, and their cooking is great. I especially enjoyed the wild rice-mushroom souffle and cold mango soup. Kim and Harold know the town quite well, and had a comprehensive list of the activities and attractions that Bemidji has to offer. The wine and snack hour was a nice touch, too. I never want to stay in a hotel again!

The common area was welcoming, very relaxing and peaceful. We felt like we were at home and really enjoyed the wine and cheese that was offered in the evening. The room was a little small but the other areas were so large and spacious that it didn't matter. The next time we would try to get the suite. I would definitely recommend this bed and breakfast.

Two of us were biking the Paul Bunyan and Heartland trails, and treated ourselves to a B&B stay in Bemidji. We had accumulated a number of questions about the history, geography and agriculture of North Central Minnesota. Our host graciously spent time answering them. Since he grew up and worked in the Bemidji area, he was very knowledgeable. We also recommend chilling on the front deck - very pleasant and a great view looking east. Bottom line - we would stay again in a heartbeat.

Everything was very well done from the happy hour to the excellent breakfast. Great biking trail right outside the front door around Lake Bemidju.

We did love our one-night stay at Villa Calma. I was in Bemidji for a conference, and the b&b--right across the street from Lake Bemidji--was within a few blocks of downtown. Easy, pleasant walk right along the lake. The b&b itself was friendly, welcoming, scrupulously clean, comfortable, and beautiful. The breakfast was yummy. They had a nice cocktail hour with wine and smoked salmon. There's a great front deck and a lovely enclosed porch for chilly days. The room was comfortable and the bathroom well equipped with shampoo, soap, conditioner, etc. Fluffy robes and slippers available, too. They thought of everything.

We were looking for a place to stay for our sons gradustion from BSU and rooms were scarce. We scored the last available room at Villa Calma. What a joy. For the same price as a sterile hotel atmosphere we enjoyed the beautiful homey comfort of this B&B. Breakfasts to rave about. Friendly and welcoming hosts who were understanding when our arrival was delayed. Wish we had stayed here on our other visits to Bemidji. Lovely spot on Lake Bemidji. We will remember our stay fondly.

We had a very nice weekend in Bemidji Villa Calma was one of the nicest places I have ever stayed and the cleanest. The house is a short walk to the campus and downtown restaurants and shopping. We enjoyed our short time there very much.

What a lovely B&B and wonderful inn keepers! The saying goes that "the difference is in the details" and Harold and Kim obviously know that! From a gorgeous room with chocolates and squishy bathrobes to snacks and wine in the evening and scrumptious breakfast in the morning, not a single thing was overlooked. They even purchased vegetarian sausage for me for breakfast - what a delightful surprise! We had a great time and will certainly be back!

My husband and I were so amazed and pleased at how wonderful Villa Calma is. Harold and Kim were so nice and wonderful to talk to. They go out of their way to ensure you have a wonderful time. There was so much to do. There are games and movies that you can watch. You feel like you are at home. The breakfasts were AMAZING!! I wanted to finish my plate, but was full after the very generous servings. I recommend this B&B to everyone. I will be going back in 2 months.

We stayed at this bed and breakfast for 3 nights. The service and food was excellent and the room large, comfortable and clean with a lovely view. Our only regret was that the weather turned a bit cold and we couldn't enjoy the large grounds. We look forward to staying here again.

This is a beautiful, well kept house and property that Kim & Harold obviously take great pride in. They're very friendly and are great cooks. The afternoon wine & cheese was a real treat. We'd recommend Villa Calma to anyone.

Wow, this place is phenomenal! Already planning my trip back. We had the biggest room, Florence. The moment we walked into our room, it was calm and relaxing. We had our own porch. BEAUTIFUL view. I can't rave enough about this place. Breakfast was amazing! If you're a big eater, don't worry about not getting your fill. The hosts were friendly, ut not overbearing in the least. You could stay in your room the whole visit or you could go downstairs and visit with them. So many little touches that made you feel at home. Locked the main door when they left, water and pop in fridge, wine and snack at 5p, etc. --Megan

We stayed for two nights and wish it could have been longer. To say that Villa Calma was well run is an understatement. The owners went above and beyond with helping us get situated in our room and finding things in town. We can't wait until next summer to return.

My wife and I visited Villa Calma in Bemidji for the second time and absolutely loved it. Villa Calma is our favorite B & B. They have an amazing breakfast, eloquent rooms, and great service. If you have yet to go there, put it at the top of your list!

We had the Florence room. Enjoyed the balcony with view of garden and lake. In addition to clean and comfortable room, the living/dining room, enclosed porch, outside porch were comfortable and inviting, encouraging friendly interaction with other guests. Fantastic breakfasts, wine and snacks in the evening, friendly hosts with recommendations for what to do and where to eat, beautiful setting convenient to everything. Bemidji, in general was great for biking.

We enjoyed our three-day stay here in the "Red Room" so much that we would do more than stay here again if we ever returned to Bemidji. We would make a point of returning to Bemidji so we could stay here. Kim and Howard made us feel like family. We stayed 4 nites and wanted more! Met interesting other travellers and had an amazing honeymoon! Will go back for anniversaries! My daughter and I recently stayed at Villa Calma and couldn't have been more pleased with the accommodations. Kim and Harold were wonderful hosts, and the food was truly memorable! The entire B & B was spotless, and we loved all the books, games, etc. If you want a particularly relaxing place to stay in Bemidji, with lovely attention to detail, and an Italian flair, this is the place! We will definitely be going back.

We have stayed at Villa Calma several times and will never stay anywhere else in Bemidji. The rooms are quaint, lovely and very comfortable. The decor of the house is wonderful and homey. The stay was amazing, the complementary wine and games were great. The family was warm and inviting. Food was delicious. The decor was very cute and in theme.

Having stayed in several European countries I can honestly say that Villa Calma is a taste of Europe with the perfect mixture of home blended in. Our stay was one of the best we've had as a couple and our only regret was that we only stayed one night. We are in the process of planning our next stay! Would recommend to anyone looking for a break from the every-day.

I can't say enough good things about Villa Calma. I've stayed at Villa Calma at least a dozen times and I would never stay anywhere else when visiting Bemidji. Kim and Harold have become such good friends, they actually feel like family. My entire family truely loves this place!

Wonderful stay at the Villa. Updated home, fantastic food, delightful happy hour wine and cheese, good DVD movie selections and a well-stocked hard-cover library. Welcoming but not intrusive hosts. Highly recommend it. Worth the drive. Just a short walk from BSU campus and downtown.

My stay at the Villa Calma was wonderful. Harold and Kim were friendly and welcoming. My privacy was respected. The home itself was beautiful with comfortble beds. I loved my view from my bedroom window. It was my first time staying at a Bed and Breakfast of that calibre. I would of liked to of been able to stay longer just to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the relaxing atmosphere.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Calma. Harold and Kim were gracious enough to allow us a late check-in and we were greeted promptly at the door when we arrived. From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed into the home. We were able to stay in all day and enjoy ourselves in the beautiful great room. Harold was able to give us local information for dinner and shopping. It was wonderful to be able to just relax. The breakfasts were exceptional and kept me full all day! We will definitely recommend to our friends and won't hesitate to stay again if we end up back in Bemidji.

We stayed at Villa Calma for a weekend in January 2011 with 2 other couples who are friends of ours - we had an amazing, relaxing time. The innkeepers (Harold and Kim) are incredibly helpful and friendly - they even cleaned the snow off of our cars! The house is beautiful, clean, has a great view of the lake, and is very relaxing. We felt absolutely pampered--they prepared elaborate breakfasts each morning, had a great selection of games, books and movies, were happy to give restaurant & sightseeing suggestions, and their special hot buttered rum will warm you right up after a snowy day. There is always plenty to do in the town of Bemidji no matter the season, and each room has very comfortable beds and is beautifully decorated in a charming Italian theme. You can tell how much thought & hard work Harold and Kim put into each detail of their B&Bt to make their guests feel at home!

I had a wonderful week at the Villa Calma, not only due to the lovely furnishings and comfortable rooms, but also due to the exceptional customer service provided by Mr. and Mrs Marty. I have already recommended this B & B to several friends and would happily stay there again.

Our visit at Villa Calma was absolutely delightful! Our room was perfect and the rest of the home was very welcoming. Harold and Kim were such gracious hosts. Villa Calma is just what the name implies......a peaceful and serene getaway!! The house is beautifully furnished and obviously lovingly and painstakingly cared for!! The furnishings are beautiful and Harold and Kim couldn't be more gracious and helpful innkeepers! I would like to have seen more "traditional" breakfasts.......the sweet dishes, while wonderful, is just not something I would choose. Harold and Kim -thanks for a great making our weekend one to remember!!

This is a great place to stay! My wife and I have visited often since our first visit. The inkeepers are wonderful people and make sure each stay is just like the first. The location is beautiful as well.
