    We loved Ypsi!

    August 01, 2011

Located within walking distance of downtown Ypsilanti, the Parish House offered a large, comfortable, very well-appointed room with lovely private bath, and a gourmet breakfast served in a welcoming breakfast room. After researching B&Bs in Ann Arbor, I decided to explore Ypsilanti, just 7 miles away. I was very pleased with my decision, and especially with the Parish House. I would recommend it to anyone visiting the Ann Arbor/Detroit area.

    Scrumtious breakfast

    July 26, 2011

Thanks to Chris for preparing her tasty breakfasts. We enjoyed her tasty breakfasts. We enjoyed her meals so much that we purchased her cookbook. The Parish House Inn has nice rooms & is conveniently located (walking distance) to downtown Ypsilanti. A good place to stay if you are considering visiting/shopping in Ann Arbor.

    Good but noisy!

    March 12, 2011

This place is super clean and the inn keeper is great too. My only issue would be the noise. I have been to several b&b in the past so I know in a house you will hear others. This was the worst by far. The bed was so squeaky every time I moved it woke me up. I also couldn't sleep when anyone else had the tv on, making meals, walking the stairs, took a shower, or when they were down stairs getting a snack. That being said I am a light sleeper so maybe it wouldn't bother you. My husband the heavy sleeper had a little problem with the noise but after a few hours was out. They do have good food and comfy beds. The bathroom is the smallest I have ever seen but cute. Two people could not be in there at the same time.

Exceeded our hopes - a pleasure!

    June 13, 2009

What a wonderful experience arriving at the Parish House Inn and meeting Chris, the fiesty, wise and charming inn keeper. We love the Parish House Inn. Chris was a the door the moment we hit the driveway and then showed us to our beautiful room in a beautiful building. Amazing attention to detail - our room and the open parlor invited exploration and admiration. Lovely gardens, right on the river, close to everything in Ypsi. Delicious fresh food in the morning, baked goods, fruit, juice and an ever full jar of spectacular cookies. Treated like family. We enjoyed a long talk with Chris who shared her wisdom on local topics (a good spot for dinner) to gems only a grandmother could hand down. Couldn't have asked for more. Also a great value.

    Ok Stay-Nothing Spectacular

    April 19, 2009

After reading all the glowing reviews my wife and I were looking forward to our stay. We arrived and the first thing the host did was ask for our credit card. We are veteran B&B stayers, and it is rare that they ask for payment as soon as you step in the door. That is usually as bad sign. The room was $99 and was really small. The bed I think was even smaller than a full bed. There were no drapes on the windows to block the sun. The walls were so thin we heard every noise. The toilet paper was one ply and not comfortable. There was left one small body wash to shower with, not enough for my wife and I. To top it off, the host monopolized the conversation at the breakfast table. The host asked us as soon as we got there if we had any dietary restrictions, we said no, yet for the meal she asked if we wanted sausage. The only thing I could think of was that she was trying to get out of serving it to save money. We even used our calling card to call home and the phone said there was a 50 cent charge to use our 1-800 number home. If I wanted that kind of treatment, I would have gone to a hotel. In fact, about an hour away is Dewey Lake Manor which is on Dewey Lake and for the same price you get a room with a view of the lake and it is about twice the size!

    Innkeeper Response
I am so sorry these guests had such an unpleasant stay at our Inn. The room they chose is one of our smallest rooms and does have a full size bed and curtains on the windows. I ask for the credit card upfront because many of our guests leave while breakfast is being served and it causes a disruption for others. I would have been happy to supply more body wash or other amenities had they asked. We use a thin toilet paper because the heavier types often cause the toilets to back-up, which is an embarasement for guests. I was not aware of any telephone charge. Guests are free to use the in-room phones for any calls at no charge. I always ask about dietary issues and always ask about meat preferences as a courtesy. I have many guests who prefer not to eat meat even if they tell me they have no dietary issues. I do not try to save money on breakfast and we pride ourselves on our quality, variety and quantity of our breakfast. I do plead guilty for monopolizing the breakfast conversation and apologize for doing so. I am truly sorry that this guest found their stay to be so unpleasant. We do have rooms of various sizes with full, queen and even king size beds at a variety of price points. I would be happy to offer this guest a complimentary stay in one of our king size rooms if they would be willing to give us another chance.

    Love Parish Inn

    March 03, 2009

We came here twice a year to celebrate our anniversaries and to us, this inn is a treasure! Even though it is local, we feel as if we are far away for a romantic getaway. It is cozy, delicious, romantic, yet comfortable- Home away from home!
