4.4 out of 5Best B&B on Old Mission Peninsula - Simple Elegance at it's Finest!
March 12, 2012
Looking for a relaxing, romantic escape from the ordinary? Your search ends at the Grey Hare Inn and Vineyard on Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City Michigan. The world begins to melt away as you drive up the peninsula and soak up the gorgeous bay views and rolling hills dotted with orchards and vineyards. The winding drive to the Grey Hare takes you through heirloom cherry orchards and beautiful vineyards ending at a charming Provincial chateau at the top of a ridge. You’ll be greeted by innkeepers Cindy and Jay who will welcome you like old friends coming for a holiday on their European country estate. As it should be, the soul of the experience is in the details; from the stucco and stone architecture to the hand painted artisan frescos to hand forged wrought iron grapevine staircase and trellis bed to Cindy’s exquisite French gourmet breakfast (by far the finest breakfast we’ve ever experienced at any B&B!) you won’t be disappointed! There are also several wineries on the peninsula with tasting rooms open daily – check out the WOMP (Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula) website for details on their many events throughout the year. Whether your holiday is two days or two weeks the value offered by the Grey Hare Inn and the Old Mission Peninsula is immeasurable – you’ll have the experience of a European country adventure for a fraction of the price. There are only three rooms at this exclusive B&B so book early – we guarantee you’ll want to come back - we're already planning our next trip! Don & Janine – Midland, MI
5 out of 5A French country experience.....
June 06, 2011
Our stay, May 2011, was exceptional. Up the long drive, sits the B&B on a hilltop, surrounded by rows and rows of grapevines and fruit trees - suddenly you are transported to a French country experience. Walking in the tiled foyer, the decor is fabulously country French. We stayed in the Vineyard room and the evenings in late May were cool enough to sleep with the French door and casement windows open. Quiet, relaxing... The breakfasts were phenomenal! Best we have ever experienced. The hosts, Cindy and Jay, invited us to cocktails on their sailboat before our dinner at the well-recommended 'Boathouse Restaurant' - wonderful food and experience. We will be talking about our stay for years to come and cannot wait to go back!

My husband and I spent a weekend away here and it exceeded our expectations. The inn is beautiful, hosts were delightful, and the food outstanding. We also went on their sailboat with them and had a great time. I highly recommend this adventure as well to complete your stay.

My husband and I first stayed at the Grey Hare inn for our honeymoon and our hosts made sure it was a special time for us with their attentiveness and first class hospitality. We have since returned every year to attend a Grape Harvest Stomp in the fall and each time our expectations are exceeded with the gourmet food and beautiful views.
