Sylvan Inn

  • Inn Details

Established in 1885, our Registered Landmark Inn began as an ideal respite for lumbermen and mariners alike. The Inn was a place where they could enjoy a hot meal, interesting conversation and a good night's sleep. Today, over 100 years later, you can enjoy the same gracious country charm. Minutes away your discoveries are endless--explore the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes that overlook the breath-taking Manitou Islands, enjoy a canoe trip on the Crystal River or visit one of our nearby excellant restaurants. Just a pleasant stroll takes you to unique shops or to one of the finest beaches in Michigan.

Spotless and well maintained property. Innkeepers were very helpful with restaurant reservations and hiking suggestions. We visit every year with a group of 10 or more friends. A great place to kick back and relax.

We stayed at the Sylvan Inn while traveling around the state. It was a very pleasant surprise - our first time in Glen Arbor. Ralph was quite a genial host. We had Room #3 (I think) which was gorgeous, relaxing and next to the "spa" - an area off the back of the inn with a hot tub and dry sauna. We very much enjoyed the hot tub, and liked that we were tucked back into a"private" area of the inn. The room was very comfortable for relaxing, reading, with a nice view of the private yard. The breakfast was just enough for us - small quiches complementing a selection of toasts, bread, fruit - perfect. Lots of hot coffee, juice - yummy. Rose helped us make appointments at a place right across the street for a massage the next morning - ahhh! And they recommended a great restaurant in town. Next time we will definitely plan a longer stay and see more of the town, beach, etc.

    Great place to stay

We have stayed here twice with a group of friends. The innkeepers are very friendly and helpful. Our room was tastefully decorated and very clean. My only complaint is that the breakfast was quite limited and could have included some more filling foods.
