Sitting atop a knoll overlooking Dewey Lake, a "Country Retreat" awaits manor guests in the Irish Hills of Southern Michigan. This 1860's Italianate home has five guestrooms with private baths and fireplaces, one with Jacuzzi tub furnished with antiques and old-fashioned wallpapers. A large deck and glass enclosed porch, with a view of the lake, provides a pleasant place to enjoy a summer breakfast or to just relax. Other rooms include a parlor with a piano and a sitting room with a bay window overlooking the lake, there are eighteen acres to wander and a picnic area by the lakeshore. Guests may also enjoy the paddleboat, canoe, and evening bonfires by the lake. The central location of the Irish Hills offers antiquing, fifty-two spring fed lakes, golfing, fishing, quaint towns, and much more. Car enthusiasts are just 3 miles from Michigan Speedway. Whether you come to enjoy the sweet sounds of a summer night or the quiet stillness of the frozen lake, your stay will be one to remember.

Thursday (February 14, 2013) afternoon through Sunday (February 17, 2013) morning we stayed at Dewey Lake Manor (http://www.deweylakemanor.com) Bed and Breakfast (BnB). We had a beautiful room in a beautiful building on a beautiful site overlooking Dewey Lake. We had tasty breakfasts with excellent conversations with fellow guests and with Barb and Joe Phillips, the owners.

This was our first experience with a B&B and we could not have chosen a more perfect way for celebrating our anniversary. Upon our arrival, Barb greeted us at the door and showed us to our room where we were welcomed by warm gas fire place and a congratulatory rose in a vase. Barb and Joe also provided us with a complimentary bottle of chilled wine. Breakfast was absolutely fabulous and cinnamon bread and butter have now become a staple in our home. Can't wait to come back.

We spent a very relaxing several days over the holidays. A step back in time with a very historical home made very quaint and comfortable. Joe and Barb are very gracious, informative and helpful. We look forward to our next visit. Kirk and Connie .

Wonderful food, the decorations make the entire house lively. Great conversation during breakfast, I recommend for everyone who wants a getaway that is not like the norm.

Barb is a nurse, who loves old homes, antiques, and has a great passion for barns. She loves to garden and would really like to get her Master Gardeners certificate.

This is the second year in a row that we have stayed at this charming location. Barb and Joe are great hosts. My mother is 92 and they are patient and kind. We feel welcome and comfortable here.

Our first time vist for our 1st wedding anniversary and the hospitality exceeded my expectations. The home feeling that Barb and Joe gave was well appreciated. Thank you so much for the rose and complimentary wine, we thoroughly enjoyed and we already want to plan a return visit. Very peaceful setting on the lakefront. The wife and I stayed at Dewey's for the night,just to get away for the weekend, also celebrated are 36the Weeding Anniversary. The host remembered this and gave the wife a rose what a nice thing for her to do.The service was fantastic, they made you feel like you were right at home.We like it so much that we booked again in a couple week.If you want to just have a romantic get away Dewey's is the place to go.
