Inn Details

The Comstock House is an elegant Eastlake brick style home located in Big Rapids, Michigan. D.F. Comstock built this extravagant home in 1896, where it later became the home of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity and now the Johansen Family has restored this home back to its original state.

Beautifully furnished with antiques throughout, the house reflects the decorating style of the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. The Victorian color scheme, grand fireplaces, and gorgeous mahogany woodwork restored showcases the five original stain glass windows. Enjoy a relaxing stay in any of our three victorian Bed & Breakfast rooms and wake up to a delicious, unique, gourmet breakfast. Two rooms even feature claw foot spa air tubs big enough for two!

Whether it’s a romantic getaway, small wedding, or even a business meeting, the Comstock House’s ambiance is sure to please everyone.

This room is what we call the Library, this is the common area for guests to sit and relax in and view the photos of the restoration. Also look through all of our memorabilia and dig into the history if this house. The "Dollie Ann" Room features this extravagant king size canopy bed. This room is the larges off the 3 rooms.
This is the spa air tup in the Dollie Ann Room and also the elegant fireplace. There is also a spa air tub in the Eva Zunida Room. This is the Eva Zunida Room which has this beautiful King size bed, claw footed spa airtub on the left and your private bath with shower. This picture is taken from the doors that open up into the Dollie Ann Room. It opens up into a suite!
This photo is taken from the library looking into the room where the wedding ceremony was to take place. We had 53 chairs set up for seating in this one room and the bride and groom stood in front of the fireplace. They decorated the mantle and put on the chair covers to make this wedding beautiful and the colors matched the house perfectly! As you can see not much decoration is needed! The house says it all!The Jennie Marcia Room features this ornate queen size bed with a fireplac and private bath.
This was a table set up for a wedding. We have these centerpieces to rent out if needed! We set up 60 inch diameter tables that can seat 8 at a table. This photo was taken from a postcard dated in the late 1800's. This is what the house originally looked like when it was built in 1896.
