DeLano Mansion Bed and Breakfast

We just spent the weekend at the DeLano Mansion and it was fantastic. Scott could not have been more helpful and friendly and we had so much fun with the other guests who stayed there. The breakfast Scott prepared was excellent and it was such a relaxing atmosphere. Whether you were sitting on the large front porch or walking through the home you couldn't help but marvel at the details of this historic beauty. We hope to be able to return again. Beth and Paul

What an amazing and romantic way to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary! The mansion is absolutely beautiful and the French Garden room worth every penny! Scott is such a friendly and charming host. We felt welcomed from the minute we walked through the door, and breakfast was spectacular! We hope to be able to go back there again and again.

If you want a superb high Victorian experience (with 12-foot-high ceilings, too!). Stay at the DeLano Mansion. Beautifully furnished with gorgeous antiques and whirlpool baths, accompanied with a gourmet breakfast -- it makes a wonderful get-away.

We stayed in the French Garden suite and the room was very nice and clean! Scott was a joy to talk to, he took the time to welcome us, was very knowledgable about the area (restaurants especially), and he cooks a delightful white chocolate, cinnamon pancake breakfast. This was our first b&b experience, and we're glad we chose the DeLano Inn because it fulfilled our expectations completely. We would certainly stay here again if we were in the area. Thanks, Scott!

We had a lovely time staying at the DeLano Mansion Bed and Breakfast. We enjoyed the Davis Room. The breakfast each morning was delicious and the service and conversation enjoyable.

This was our first time at a B&B in the area and it exceeded our other experiences found around the U.S. Comfort, Quiet, and Food are high on our list of needs and DeLano Mansion met them and more. A great host who also doubles as chef and guide gives the B&B a feeling of down home warmth. Loved the place, loved the food, loved the experience! We highly recommend this B&B to anyone that is looking for a Comfort Zone away from it all!!

The rooms are amazing! Authentic Victorian decor! It is the most stunning home I have been in. Just as good is the yard and the porch. Both offered solitude and beauty with running water fountains and absolutely perfect landscaping. A real get-away! the food was gourmet for breakfast, if you can believe it! You must vist!

My husband and I spent a wonderful weekend at the DeLano Mansion. It was everything we hoped it would be. We didn't have time to plan our trip so Scott was kind enough to be our guide. He pointed out places to visit and really great local restaurants. He gave us directions and made our reservations. Really I don't think we could have asked for anything more.

The couple of nights we stayed were magical, like being transported to another time. Breakfast was delicious and Scott was so friendly and helpful.

After the summer had ended and the fall began, work started picking up and school was under full way. After a couple months a getaway was needed. I found this place last minute after doing some searching. Everything was set for the weekend. Scott was absolutely amazing with his knowledge of the area and the attractions. The historical district the bed and breakfast was in was beautiful and my girlfriend and I had a much needed time away from everything and everyone to re-charge our batteries. For myself, it was sad to leave; but its a sign of a very, very good time. I highly recommend this place to everyone and anyone. Doesn't matter the occasion. It truly feels like a home away from home. I will definitely going back!!!!

Thank you for staying with us, we are so glad that you hated to go, we get that alot...LOL. many of our return guests call us home, and I am always ready at the door with a hug or handshake and a welcome home to our return guests, first timers to our inn can get hugs and such too...(grins) Hope to see you soon, the Inn is being decorated for the holidays right now, and should look resplendant for the Christmas season.

I had the most wonderful time there. The interior is just beautiful with all of the antiques. We had everything we could possible need in the rooms wine glasses, salts for the tub, shampoo, and soap. My Boyfriend got me flowers and Scott got me a vase to put them in. If we needed anything such as reservations to a restaurant or just a recommendation to anything that was going on Scott directed you in the right direction or where to eat Scott was amazing in having that ready in a brochure(which he and his wife went to all of the restaurant and scouted them personally)and is willing to call and make you the reservation. We also got in on a Friday and was suppose to call back for the messages the day before and for got. Not A PROBLEM for Scott. He got on the phone and booked 2 messages for Saturday. The food was Amazing. We are definitely going back for our anniversary in may and we are looking forward to going back for a well deserved relaxing vacation.

So glad you chose to stay with us, and not a problem setting up things for you last minute, you were so nice to work with, and the staff here just love you folks. When you come again, I am creating a new series of breakfasts in our test kitchen (the family are the testers) these new breakfasts will knock your socks off, we are still working on them, but they are already soooooo good already. I may have to create that cookbook that so many people have been asking me to create...

My husband and I stayed 2 days for wedding anniversary and were beyond pleased. The rooms and the home were beautiful. Breakfast was exceptional! Scott, the owner and inn keeper is quite the character! He had lots of advice for us about where to eat and visit. Our only unpleasant moment was when we had to leave! We look forward to visiting again.

My Husband and I desperately needed time away. Our first B&B and it was wonderful. From the decor to Breakfast fabulous......... Very warm and friendly atmosphere. And the Innkeeper is the BEST! We will be back for our next anniversary.

We needed a place to stay for a family funeral. The Delano Mansion was a perfect spot-close to everything (so close we could walk), welcoming in a pinch and gracious in every way. Thanks Scott and crew!

The house was gorgeous. We had fun and shared nice conversation with the other couples there but there were a few things that fell short of a great stay. The host was not available except for 1 hour in the mornings. He complained of the property values and said that he would never be able to sell for what he has in to the property indicating that he really didn't want to own it. The breakfast both days consisted of throwing something in a baking dish and baking it. No the food was completely substandard. No fresh bread. He served a plate and that was all you would get. Period. There was fruit on the buffet but he used the same fruit both days and it was obviously old the second day. The room bath had dirt and hair along the edge of the tub. Nice people but I would neither recommend this place nor return.

As innkeepers for over 11 years, we have spent alot of time and effort to create the perfect getaway Inn, and it shows, all of our guests comment on the Inn. It has been our lifes passion for over 13 years now, and we still love it!! We live onsite, and are always available, and make it an effort to check with guests concerning thier stay and their room. I have 15 years of restaurant experience up to 5 star restaurants, and cater to food limitations and restrictions for our guests as well. We serve a two course breakfast, starting with fresh baked breads/coffee cakes, and and fresh cut fruits every morning, then a second course consisting of a main entre, with side items, depending on the entree and guest preferences. In the near future we will be offering a menu choice of several item for our guests to choose from for breakfast to give our guests more options. I have taken the cleanliness issue up with staff in one of our meetings, and continue to make this one of our ongoing focus points. My only reply specific to this reviewer, nothing was ever brough to our attention from the guest during their stay, and do wish things would have been at the time, so we could make things right, as we do strive to make our guests experiences the best possible, as our other reviews do show.

We just returned from a wonderful stay at the DeLano Mansion B & B! The atmosphere, food and hospitality was superb! We have spent the last several of our wedding anniversaries at B & B's in OH, PA, and KY and found this gem in Michigan. Scott does a great job and I will happily recommend the DeLano Mansion to anyone wanting to take some time away.

Glad we stayed here - first time over to Allegan, Saugutuck, Douglas area -realy enjoyed our stay - I love old homes - nothing is built like these places anymore - breakfast was awesome too.

We had a wonderful stay! The inn has been beautifully restored and the furnishings are both comfortable and appropriate to the historic nature of the building. The innkeeper Scott provided a very good breakfast and was considerate of my husband's food allergies. The location is very convenient to Saugatuck and Douglas, as well as several local wineries. We will definitely go back!

We chose the DeLano Inn in Allegan, Michigan because of its close proximity to a wedding we were attending. Our room was beautiful, and better then we expected. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. Scott was an excellent host, and was helpful with local information. The property itself is very pretty, and nicely landscaped. We really enjoyed our stay.

My husband and I stayed at the DeLano Mansion while visiting Holland for the Tulip Festival. The home has been lovingly restored and Scott was the perfect host. He helped us select dinner options around town and gave us some great tips on places to visit while in the area. The rooms were immaculate and loaded with antiques. The food was top notch, all cooked by Scott himself. Coffee and tea available 24 hours a day was nice. We loved sipping our morning coffee in the gazebo and relaxing on the well landscaped lawns. The afternoon cookies and tea were a nice touch. The antique furnishings were beautiful and comfortable. Felt like we were transported back in time. Allegan is a typical small town. People were extremely friendly and helpful. Loved the antique stores. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a relaxing stay among beautiful surroundings. We will definitely be back. It topped of a perfect getaway.

We stayed in Allegan on a whim and were thrilled with the Delano Inn! It is perfectly charming and a great mix of homey comfort with the ease of a fine hotel. Scott was amazing, incredibly friendly and helpful with full attention to every detail to make your stay exactly what you hoped. Breakfasts were unique and delicious. Allegan is full of small town wonders - must visit the Old Jail Museum and The Grille House! We especially loved watching a movie while sitting in the jacuzzi! Definitely planning another trip back in the near future.

I wanted to find the perfect B&B for this weekend as I was planning on proposing to my girlfriend. I ended up choosing the Delano Inn and I am sure glad that I did! Not only was our room absolutely beautiful and comfortable but Scott went above and beyond the call of duty in helping me to arrange the perfect weekend. By the way, she said YES and we will marry later this year! We will definitely be back to the Delano Inn. Thank you Scott for all of your help!

It was like coming home - personal, warm, authentic - and Scott was my brother, but a much better cook! All the stars in the sky! We loved it!

My husband and I were looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway for our 25th anniversary. Everything was perfect--from the warm cookies upon our arrival to the wonderful gourmet breakfasts. As a lover of victorian architecture and decor I was in heaven! My only regret is that we don't live closer.

We have skiied in Michigan and stayed many places, but the Delano Inn has got to be the best place by far. We had a party of 7, including a 3 year old, Scott was very accomodating with every detail, very good host, had warm cookies for us when we arrived and all 6 adults stated that they thought the rooms were beautiful and breakfast delicious. I highly recommend the Delano Inn, by the way, I travel often each year many places and I have never taken the time to write review, but I had to make sure nobody misses this experience. The Delano Mansion Bed and Breakfast was amazing. My boyfriend and I needed some time away from the real world and we got just that here. We stayed in the French Garden Suite and it was perfect. It is very secluded, modern, and romantic. The jacuzzi was great! The inkeeper Scott was superb. He was very accomodating and treated us like family! And did I mention he is also an awesome chef! And the price if you compare it to other Michigan bed and breakfasts, was awesome! We got such a good deal. This bed and breakfast gets 5 stars. Can't wait to go back! Alyson

The Delano was quaint, cozy, and provided a very welcome, homelike atmosphere! The rooms were gorgeous and very comfortable. Food -- amazing, Scott (innkeeper) was great! Worth every penny.

Very luxurious, well appointed suite with fabulous bath! Our host made sure our stay was enjoyable. The inn was immaculate, the grounds were perfectly maintained. A perfect 10!

A very elegant inn with impressive victorian furnishings and decor as well as modern comfort. Our room was lovely, cozy, and clean with a whirlpool tub and gas fireplace. Breakfast was scruptious, served with coffee, tea, and fruit juices, fresh fruit, sweet breads, and a decadent entree (my favorite was the Blueberry Pecan French Toast, YUMMO!). Scott was a most gracious host with fantastic dining and shopping suggestions as well as great conversation. Allegan is a scenic, homey town surprisingly close to the lakeshore. The people are friendly and engaging as we found everyone on the southwest lakeshore. We had a fantastic time and are already planning our return trip!

We motorcycled up from Indiana with another couple and could not have stayed at a better B&B. We loved the Victorian setting and our host, Scott, was a terrific cook. We look forward to our next visit.

We stayed one night at this bed and breakfast, this was our second experience staying at a bed and breakfast. The rooms looked magnificent! (the pictures on the home page do no justice to what the rooms look like in person!) Also, the innkeeper was very friendly, helpful, and served an excellent breakfast!

My husband and I travelled to Allegan, MI to go to the Antique Market at the Fairgrounds in Allegan and we booked our room at the DeLano Mansion. All I have to say is "Wow"! The place is impressive, superbly renovated and decorated in period victorian - the perfect place for an antique buff or just a romantic get-away. Mine happend to be both. The service was outstanding. Scott the inn-owner was more than gracious showing us around, answering ALL of my questions and giving us pointers on what to do around the surrounding areas. He is a fantastic cook and we ate so much for breakfast each morning that we skipped lunch completely! my favorite was the Baked French Toast w/peaches! ! Rooms are very clean, restful and romantic. My husband and I booked the French Garden Suite last minute... and we were very pleasantly surprised! The Inn was very cute and the service was great. We loved our room and the tub especially! We watched a movie from the Inn's collection and enjoyed our stay. I would highly recommend this Inn to others. The breakfast was also lovely.

We really enjoyed celebrating our Anniversary at the B&B. Our host made us feel very welcomed and he prepared a fantastic breakfast for us. The B&B is very beautiful and we enjoyed relaxing on the front porch. We plan on returning next year.

We had a WONDERFUL experience at the Inn. We stayed for 5 nights and indulged in Massages along with a fruit & cheese platter (which was wonderful). The rooms were very clean and amazingly beautiful (even better in person than shown in pictures). Breakfast was very filling and delicious. Scott the inkeeper was friendly, helpful, and made the stay very memorable. This is our second B&B we have tried in Allegan. The Delano Inn takes the Cake! We'll definitely return!

What a wonderful experience! 1863 mansion, 14' ceilings, beautiful antiques and complete restoration made this one of the finest B&Bs we have stayed in. Complete with gardens & gazebo -- and a wonderful host. Very highly recommended!

Innkeeper Scott was fantastic. Let us switch rooms cuz I happened to like one over another--no problem. Had every little convenience thought of. The town was charming. Much more fun to walk around in then I expected. This would be a perfect place to have a small wedding. Loved it!

We only stayed for one night, but wish we would have had time for more. The rooms were very nicer and larger than expected. The backyard is landscaped beautifully. Location is small town - but only 30-40 minutes from Grand Rapids and Holland. Breakfast was great - wish I had a bigger stomach.

This was the best B&B experience that we have ever had. The room exceeded the description on the website. It was very comfortable and CLEAN. The hospitality was great! The food was better than excellent. The Inn Keeper has thought of everything. Scott knows how to make his guests feel welcome. This was one of the best experiences we have had and that includes comparing it to the high-end hotels and motels we have stayed at.

Scott was instrumental in finding a chef to cook and serve dinner at the inn. The garden suite was clean, comfortable and spacious. Breakfasts were out of this world yum! We would love to return.

While we had beautiful weather on our trip, we landed at Delano for a romantic 2 days of total relaxation. We were informed of a wonderful restaurant, The Grille House, enjoyed fabulous massages 'in house', and breakfast to fill you for hours! Very highly recommended!

My husband and I chose this for our honeymoon stay and couldn't have been more pleased. The pictures on their website don't do it justice. The inn is even more quaint and lovely in person. The innkeeper, Scott, was very friendly and personable and attended to our every need during our stay. Scott is an excellent chef and prepared some of the best breakfasts I have ever tasted -- exquisite!!! I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone that loves Victorian decor and wants to experience a truly romantic getaway. It exceeded all our greatest expectations. My husband and I plan on coming back for our anniversary next year, and hopefully for many more anniversarys to come!!

A wonderful b&b the breakfast was great. Scott was a great person to talk to about the Inn. The only suggestion we have for Scott is to consider purchasing new matterases for the b&b.

The Delano Inn is very beautiful and elegant. The online pictures, doesn't give this place justice. We had a lovely time. Scott was very personable and accommodating. The food, atmosphere and amenities were awesome. We experienced the Ultimate Indulgences Massage Package, and it was great! 8x10 picture; Food Gift Certificate to “The Grill”; 1 hour massages for both and by far the best chocolate covered strawberries I have ever had. Shopping in Saugatuck and walking along Lake Michigan, made this one of the most relaxing and rewarding vacations I’ve had in a long time. We will definitely return. GyNea and Derric

My friend and I wanted a mini vacation from our jobs in Detroit and discovered the DeLano Mansion on the Internet. We stayed in two of their fabulous rooms, each had a massage in the afternoon, a great dinner at a local restaurant, topped off with a wonderful breakfast prepared by our Innkeeper, Scott. 5 Stars!

My Husband and I wanted a weekday getaway to break up the cold winter days. After searching the web seperately we both came upon the Delano Inn. the Delano Inn was less than a 2 hour drive away, so we could get away but not have to drive all day. Scott met us at the door for a tour of this beautifully restored victorian mansion, down to the minute details to make this house so authentic to the period. most of the home has all hard wood floors with antique rugs. Our room was up over the kitchen, so cozy and warm we slept in, had great breakfast each mornings , soaked in our tub, had wonderfully relaxing massages in the comfort of our room. the second day we even took a nap before heading over to Holland for shopping and to see the beach frozen in the cold winter. Thr Grill House resturant is 10 minute drive away from the house and a MUST for steak lovers. we hand picked our steaks and grilled them ourselves, what a great end to our day. We are sure a repeat visit to the Delano Inn is defintly in our future. Annie, the house dog wanders through the house making you feel like your at home. We were looking for a quiet place to get away for a night and decided to try a B&B for the first time. We searched online and found the DeLano and decided to give it a try. We loved the entire experience from the moment we arrived to the smell of fresh baked cookies until the time we had to leave with full bellies from a delicious breakfast. We had a hard time trying to decide which room to stay in, they are all great. We chose the French Garden Suite and felt very relaxed for the entire evening. Scott gave a great recommendation for dinner, but we couldn't wait to get back and spend time in our room. Before the night was over we had already started thinking about what room we would stay in next time we visited. No more chain hotels for us! We can't wait to explore and stay at wonderful places like the DeLano Mansion.

My boyfriend and I spent our first time at a Bed and Breakfast at this Inn. We had a very romantic stay and loved everything about this place. The food was great and the hospitality from Scott was awesome. We love it so much we are going back again. Very much recommended!

I spend over 100 nights/year away from home, almost always, in hotels, for business. I do not usually have an opportunity to spend this time in a B&B. When I was asked to work in Allegan, Mi. for a few days, I began my seach for lodging. The DeLano Inn came up in my search and that's all I looked at. The owner, Scott, treated me like one of the family. He fixed breakfast for me according to my work schedule which was extra early. Thanks. The meals were fabulous and the accomodations were much better than any hotel I have spent time in this year. Thanks.

The inn is a tastefully decorated Victorian. The entire premises are extremely clean and well cared for. The breakfasts are fabulous!

We very much enjoyed a package deal which included kayaking, a dinner out, an inn-room massage, as well as real, gourmet breakfasts. The inn was a delight in itself- very Victorian!

The house was beautiful, full of antiques. We were greeted immediately by Scott, the owner, and Shawn around and told us a little history. We booked 2 massages ahead of time and we felt like butter afterwards! very relaxing!!

This inn is in a charming little town with a variety of activities nearby. I would highly recommend it for a getaway from the hubbub of busy city life.

Many "Victorian" Inns out there are very floral and gaudy, but DeLano Inn is done very nicely. Every antique in the house is fitting for the late 1800's era. Other furniture is comfortable and complimentary of the style. We had a relaxing time and felt very comfortable. The host was inviting, friendly, and helpful. The price can't be beat for the great quality of this experience. We look forward to our next stay.

WOW - this place is gorgeous and far exceeded our expectations. In fact, we ended up staying an additional night because we did not want to leave. Scott is a very friendly and personable host and an excellent cook. We stayed in the Davis suite which you have to see in person to truly appreciate as pictures do not do this suite or this Inn justice. This is by far the most beautiful Inn and room that we have ever stayed in at a B & B. Also, who knew that Allegan was such a great town with so much charm? We fell in love with this little town and cannot believe that we have never heard of it. This is a perfect location as Saugatuck is only about 15 minutes away and Grand Rapids, Holland, Kalamazoo, are all within 30 minutes. We will most definitely be back! The Archer’s

This was our second stay at the DeLano. Scott and Karen are wonderful hosts. The food is GREAT!! A nice quiet get away. Nearby towns of Holland, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo which provide additional opportunities for shopping, dining and other activities.

This was our first time and we loved the Victorian ambiance. The details are perfectly chosen and the DeLaro has a wide selection of unique rooms. Delicious apple pancakes in the morning, but we got served ham, although we specified vegetarian.

The DeLano Inn is wonderfully restored to its past glory (Yes, this place is the 'real deal'-lots of history; a showplace on which the owner spared no expense in creating- and it is obvious Scott & Karen spared no expense in the restoration) they have added some lovely updates that just put it over the top. We were not sure how they managed to keep the charm from the past with a Jacuzzi in the room however they did manage to create a very intimate, cozy, welcoming inn. The details are lovely, just wandering through the inn is a treat; there is an abundance of space in the common areas- including a fireplace, piano, library- just a very warm place to spend a weekend or a week. Scott is a very gracious host and just a nice guy- he was always ready to help out with local information to make our stay even better than we had hoped for. There was lots of snow so we very much enjoyed the fireplaces and all the windows to watch the snow fall- we truly felt like we were 'at home'.

Great B&B with georgous rooms and wonderful hostpitality. A relaxing place to pamper yourself. I woud definitely return.

Very nice hospitality and beautiful rooms, which create a great atmosphere, letting you get back to the victorian age.

We stayed at the Delano for a much needed weekend getaway and had the time of our lives. The house was beautiful and very private for a B&B. The innskeeper,Scott,was delightful and he made scrumptious breakfasts. Take the winery tour package. It comes complete with limo service and unforgetable memories. Our experience went beyond our expectations!
