beautiful B&B on gorgeous property. Hosts Jitka and John were so warm and informative about the area and many other topics, Both were very interesting people and enjoyable to converse with. Food was also very good, and made sure to cater to my fuss budget hubby by preparing something different he would eat, Looking forward to going again.

My wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary in this lovely Bed and Breakfast. The Royal Oak Room was very private with great views of the property. The room was immaculate. The woodwork was perfect. Jitka and John took special care to buy flowers for our room, and both did a fantastic job with breakfast. Definitely a place my wife and I would stay at again.

Dove Nest B&B has a relaxed country charm. The location is convenient to different attractions and the landscaped property gives a private secluded feeling. Jitka is a gracious hostess and a wonderful cook. The breakfasts are generous and delicious. Our room, the Pond View, was large, nicely decorated, and very quiet. All in all, a beautiful B&B in which we thoroughly enjoyed our visit!

My wife and I were looking for the perfect get-away to celebrate our anniversary. John and Jitka offer the absolute perfect B&B for this. Super clean, quiet, private, and the grounds are beautiful. We would highly reccomend the Dove's Nest to anyone! We will be sharing our experience with all of our friends. Ron & Amy D. Temperance, MI

Nestled in a beautiful garden - quite location. I was on the first floor overlooking the driveway and was concerned I would hear the traffic, but that was not the case - Very friendly hostess. I was unable to stay for breakfast - so was given a to-go bag! Really a very pleasant stay.

Five minutes from the Interstate but a haven of rural charm. Jitka is a wonderful hostess and obviously a keen gardener. The rain meant that we couldn't see as much of the property as we would have liked. A great find.

Located in a nice quiet setting, yet conveniently close to the beach, the downtown area and numerous wineries. The owners were friendly and the breakfasts were delicious. They were also very helpful in pointing out places in the area to dine and to go wine tasting. Had a great, relaxing weekend.

This is a wonderful place to stay - close to activities in the area while somewhat secluded. The Nelsons are very nice and the breakfasts are delicious. The rooms are beautifully designed and very clean. Every effort is made to make you feel at home. We have passed on information on Dove Nest Bed and Breakfast to friends and coworkers. I received gift certificates as a retirement gift from my coworkers and they made a wonderful choice for my husband and myself. This place is the best getaway ever!

We stayed in the Royal Oak suite & we were spoiled each morning with the best three course breakfast I've ever had. Highlights of our stay: we loved the large room with vaulted ceiling plus relaxing in the jacuzzi tub. We appreciated the beautiful views from our balcony with sliding door and were so happy they had a DVD library with lots of movies to watch. With all this, I have to say the innkeepers Jitka & John are so wonderful, they gave us what we wanted plus the privacy we needed. Highly recommended -- we will be coming back!

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you Jitka and John! We sisters couldn't thank you enough for your wonderful hospitality. Upon arriving we were captivated by the beautiful landscape, very large trees (in color) front and back. Flowers and just a welcoming entrance into this beautiful B&B! The rooms were furnished and decorated with everything we needed & then some! Very comfortable sleeping...felt like coming home. There was no skimping on the breakfast and snacks. Jitka is a wonderful cook and the food was delicious. We enjoyed conversing with Jitka & John while there. We learned about her heritage and how closely we were linked with our Slovak ancestory. When in the St. Joseph, MI area, you must make plans to stay at The Dove Nest. You won't be disappointed! Best Always, Chris, Sheryl & Denise

Wonderful place to relax! The rooms are lovely, the grounds spectacular and the breakfasts a sheer delight.

Our host, Jitka (say Yitka) was very gracious and a wonderful cook. The three course breakfasts were outstanding. The rooms were roomy and comfortable, with plenty of room and closet space to unpack your luggage. Very comfortable beds for a great night sleep. Several different outdoor seating areas throughout the grounds if you are looking for a quiet place to read a book or relax. A large deck and patio in back where we were served breakfast. They also had a fire pit for evening bon fires. Plenty of things to do nearby - dining and shopping in St. Joseph, Silver Beach on Lake Michigan and many nearby wineries to taste at. Nice technology in the rooms too which is somewhat rare at a B & B. HD flat screens with a Blu-ray player that connects to internet for Netflix, Pandora etc. (using your own account) or a DVD from their own library. We would recommend a stay here.

My husband and I were needing some quiet time and we got rest and relaxation at the Dove Nest. The place is very clean which is important to me. It's a lot more quieter than a hotel. The staff made great effort in making their guests feel comfortable. The breakfast was very tasteful and I enjoyed the outside setting.

My husband and I had a delightful time at the Dove Nest. Our hosts, John and Jitka, were so hospitable. Our room was cozy and clean. There was even a robe hanging in our closet. Jitka created some delicious breakfasts and custom made some dishes for my husband. Although there were no doves, the racing pigeons were fascinating and the flowers were magical. We would certainly return in the future.

My husband and I had a wonderful two day stay to the Dove Nest. Easy to find off of I94 off the main hustle and bustle of downtown St Joseph but an easy drive to town or the beach. we had asked about antiquing to our host, Jikta and was given great advice to visit Niles MI about 20 minutes away and was pleased to find two. Early large antiquing malls. breakfast each day was a real treat with all homemade goodies from quiche to muffins to biscuits wonderful coffe cakes and fresh fruit. The room was extremely clean and the bathroom spacious and accommodated our needs. I would recommend this comfortable clean bed and breakfast to any one.

We have just returned from our stay in The Royal Oak Room at The Dove Nest. We, reluctantly, said our farewells to Jitka and John but, the feeling of being enveloped in Old Word charm, gentility and service came home with us. We shall return to meet Jitka, John and Company soon. This B&B in every detail is a place to remember and a memory to treasure.

My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Dove Nest Bed and Breakfast in May. John and Jitka were able to accommodate our late arrival and made us feel so welcome. The three course breakfasts were the best we've ever had at a B&B. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. We also did a private wine tour, during which one of the owners (Jitka) drove us from winery to winery. We were able to pick which wineries we went to, didn't have to worry about navigating, and were able to go to more wineries than we ever could have on a local commercial wine tour. A great experience!

The Doves Nest B&B is a well run establishment. The facility is perfect for relaxing. The Doves Nest is centrally located to winery's, shopping, fine dining, and one of the greatest beaches you will find. If you are staying In the St. Joseph, Stevensville Area make sure to stay at the Doves Nest. By the way breakfast is awesome.
5 on June 21, 2014
This B & B is tucked away and conveniently located for everything in the St. Joseph, Stevensville area. We found it to be a pleasant surprise, because the owners have created an oasis in the middle of rather routine looking farmland and outlying area of St. Joseph. You will be surprised at the beautiful home (built by the owner, some 31 years ago) and serene atmosphere. The fact that the owners also operate a tree business will please as well. There are more tree varieties on this property than you can imagine! Very nice.

I spent 2 nights at this property and loved every minute. The wonderful breakfast was a great way to start the day. But first a walk in the beautiful surrounding farm land. My room was spacious but yet cozy. The bathroom was very updated and I loved the plush terry bath robe. A great location if you plan on visiting the surrounding wineries and a close car ride into St Joseph's.

Do not hesitate to spend time at this Bed and Breakfast! From the freshly baked apple pie that was waiting for us upon our arrival, to the delightful room, and amazing breakfast, it is a first class B & B. One will not find more accommodating, kind hosts than Jitka and John. The Inn is so inviting and warm, we felt as if were in a Currier and Ives setting. The woodwork that the host incorporated into the inn adds to the ambience. Our BlueSky room with electric fireplace, and bath, so lovely and clean. Even the sheets are ironed. Whether in the summer, or winter, this is the place to stay. We can't wait to return!!
5 on November 08, 2013
Our family and extended family stayed in all of the rooms and had a great time! We were made to feel so welcome. We were given beach towels and chairs to use, a bonfire out back and sweet treats every afternoon. The breakfasts were a gourmet treat!

We recently got married and we were searching for somewhere to take our "mini honeymoon." My daughter and son-in-law recommended Dove Nest. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived and were greeted by Jitka and John. They are so friendly and made us feel right at home. We stayed in the Royal Oak room which was beautifully furnished and enjoyed the view of the gardens from our porch. The breakfasts they served us each morning were simply delicious. We really enjoyed our stay at Dove Nest and we definitely plan to return next year.

We stayed in the Royal Oak room and it was so relaxing! Our daughter is 19 months old. We hadn't had a night away just the two of us since she was born and now we are pregnant with our second. It was so wonderful to get away! The fireplace, jacuzzi, coffee on the porch in the morning looking out at the gorgeous property, the bed was so comfortable.... it was just what we needed. Jitka was out of town while we were there but John was a perfect host and cook. He even tweaked the morning menu for my husband who doesn't like fruit and substituted with cinnamon steel cut oats. Everything tasted fresh and delicious, the home and room were extremely clean, and John gave us helpful tourist advice but also graced us with his some pretty cool stories of his life! We would love to go back again!

Having never been to anywhere in Michigan except the Detroit airport, my wife and I were very pleasantly surprised to find such a friendly, manner in St. Joseph. Jitka and John were very welcoming hosts who worked very hard to provide the kind of relaxation that we were seeking. We stayed in the room overlooking the pond, providing a lovely breeze and nice view of the water feature. Every night, when we returned from our day's excursion, a pair of Jitka's tasty dessert treats was on freshly placed upon our dresser. Each morning was a new three course breakfast, complete with variety, great taste, and beautiful presentation. (We typically weren't even hungry again until late afternoon.) The gardens surrounding the sprawling residence adorn each twist and turn. The grounds are superbly kept and create a tranquil environment for a stroll down by the pond area or a lazy view of the sunset from their fabulous deck seating. (Note: If weather permits, Jitka and John will serve your breakfast outside!) With a wealth of traveling, life experiences, and global guest engagement, the proprietors of the Dove Nest Bed and Breakfast will go more than the extra mile to make your stay a wonderful getaway to southern Michigan. We look forward to our next stay with Jitka and John.

Our family rented the entire B&B out for the weekend and we were blown away by everything that the Dove Nest had to offer. The Innkeepers were such gracious hosts and went out of their way to make our weekend extra special. They were so welcoming of the children that we had in our party as well. The food was out of this world (provided gluten free options for guests that are g-free) and our rooms were immaculate. The outside was beautiful with lovely gardens, pond, and hammocks to relax in. We will be visiting this B&B again.

My sisters and I and our mom stayed with John and Jitka for a girls getaway before my sister's wedding this summer. We had a great time! We stayed in the Blue Sky suite, which was big enough for all four of us, and was very comfortable and clean. The breakfasts were amazing and very filling! Jitka and John are great cooks! They even left out desserts each evening-the eclairs were especially tasty. The backyard was beautiful and peaceful. Jitka was very helpful in telling us which wineries and beaches to visit. They both made us feel at home. We especially liked hearing about John's world travels! I would definitely recommend this bed and breakfast!
5 on July 24, 2013
John and Jitka are like family. Everything about this bed and breakfast exemplifies the pride these lovely people take in their home. their business, their grounds, and their guests. Every detail was seen to. The food and hospitality were beyond compare. My husband and I especially enjoyed watching the pigeons that John has trained to race. We stayed in the Royal Oak Room for our honeymoon and plan on visiting as often as we can. This location is perfect - close to the beach, shops, restaurants and vineyards, but just far enough away from the hustle and bustle.

My husband and I had never been to a bed & breakfast before and the Dove's Nest was wonderful and by far exceeded our expectations. As soon as we walked through the door, they gave us a tour and provided us with an afternoon snack, which was delicious. The landscaping was beautiful and the outdoor area promoted a very relaxing environment. We stayed in the Blue Sky Room which was very well decorated and clean. They provided many things in the room which we had forgot to bring: wine glasses, a wine opener, and cd player with romantic cds, etc. We were celebrating our 5th year wedding anniversary and Jitka set up a very romantic breakfast for us. She lit a candle and set the table really nice. The breakfast she made us was so delicious! Wonderful experience. We will definitely stay again if we are in the area! Highly recommend this place!

My husband and I stayed at the Dove Nest Bed & Breakfast for a portion of our first anniversary trip. We ran the Detroit Marathon the day prior to our stay, so it was the perfect place to relax and recover after our race! We enjoyed the beautiful fall leaves and birds on the grounds. We are both vegans and John & Jitka prepared us perfect vegan meals that were creative, healthy, and tasty! We also enjoyed local hiking and wine tasting. We had a wonderful time relaxing. Thank you John and Jitka!!
We like to accomodate our guest's special diets, as food is part of our service and we want everybody to be able to enjoy their stay. We learned a few new vegan recipes with you being around. It was fun!

My wife and I wanted a quick getaway from Chicago to celebrate our 19th anniversary. We enjoy St Joes, but wanted a B&B experience vs. a plain hotel room. While a 10min drive from town, the Dove Nest is a very nice location; we could see this as a good home base for a winery tour. The grounds of the property were well maintained and are obviously beautiful in warmer weather. We stayed in the Royal Oak Room and had an excellent time. The room is huge and has a large seperate bathroom/jacuzzi. John was a great host and chef; our breakfast was delicious and filling! Rates were in line with the size of the room and service. We would recommend the Dove Nest to our friends and family and look forward to a return visit during warmer weather.
Thank you to help us start the new 2013 year. Glad that you had a nice anniversary celebration - and we are looking to see you again in the future to enjoy flowers and gardens.

We were very pleased that we chose this B & B to celebrate our 42nd anniversary! We stayed in the Royal Oak Room and it was lovely in every way. We especially enjoyed the view of the autumn leaves thru the windowa and the doves from the balcony. The grounds were beautiful and inviting, so it made for a peaceful getaway. We loved the delicious breakfast at our cozy candleit table. And the music and flowers made it even more special. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed visiting with them. We had a memorable stay at the Dove's Nest
Thank you. Music and candlelight really add to a special feeling during the breakfast time. In the winter times we also have a real fire going in the fireplace for further relaxation and cozy feeling either during the breakfast time and/or in the evening. We like to make anniversaries, birthdays, Valentines or wedding nights special with some extra touches and decorations appropriate to the occassion or offering packages to surprise the love one.

Thank you for your response. We pay a lot of attention to cleanliness of all the rooms and bathrooms and maitenance of the property. Landscaping is extensive and it is labor of love for us. We both love gardening, planting new plants, shrubs and flowers every year. We aim to turn each "corner" of the property to little garden on its own.

Thank you. Yes, our location is great: off the beaten path but still very close (10-20min) to all the "happennings" in St Joseph and surrounding areas. And 10 wineries within 15 min from our Inn. Lots of wine to taste!! And we also offer private winery tours after our 3course hearthy breakfast.

The owners went out of their way to schedule our stay, fed us sumptuously (3 course breakfasts--we didn't need to eat much else during the day!) & gave great service. The grounds are peaceful & beautiful, the doves & pigeons an added bonus. We enjoyed our room & private bath...they even iron the sheets, to give extra luxury!! Positive experience & nice people (they gave us a pass to the beach to use for the day!)
Thank you - John is very happy that his lifelong hobby (doves and pigeons) have been mentioned. And yes, we iron pillows and sheets for each bedroom.

At first we were a bit leery about staying at a B&B. When we arrived we were greeted by John, he immediately made us feel at home, showed us to our room and went over everything. The room was very clean, comfortably and beautifully furnished. To be honest, the room was spotless as was the adjoining bathroom. The grounds were beautiful and the food was delicious! My only regret is in not spending more time exploring the grounds. They keep the house and its surroundings spotless! If you are looking for the perfect place to spend a peaceful moments this is what you want! We couldn't have asked for more! It is an experience we will definitely repeat!

Immaculate room, meticulously maintained gardens and plantings, and a four course breakfast made our stay a very pleasant one. Owners clearly have their guests comfort in mind, I was asked if I had any special dietary restrictions (I do) when I booked the room and these were respected. These hosts give more than than expected. Only drawback is this place is about 6 miles from the beach, but the drive was short with little traffic. --Ron Taggart
Thank you Ron. Yes, we are about 6 miles to the beach but also 6 miles to the closest winery, 7 miles to Grand Mere State Park, 12 miles to Sarrett Nature Center etc. We offer complimentary Silver Beach parking pass to our guests together with beach chairs and beach umbrellas - so they can unload and enjoy. A little perk in exchange for not being situated directly by the beach.

Three words best describe all aspects of our week stay at the Dove Nest B&B: 1. Outstanding 2. Awesome 3. Unbelievable The only downside was that the week went by too fast. There is absolutely no doubt that we will be returning next year.

My husband and I stayed here for our wedding night recently and it was truly gorgeous. John and Jitka were extremely welcoming and their attention to detail shows throughout the house. The property is well manicured and very quiet. We stayed in the Royal Oak room and it was perfect, down to the chocolates on the pillows! They even offer room service in the morning to bring you coffee! Our room had a gorgeous view of the pond and its own private balcony overlooking the garden behind the house. In the morning we were served a delicious three course breakfast that was both healthy and hearty. We highly recommend it!

We visited 5 Beach Towns, St Joseph, South Haven, Douglas, Saugatuck and Holand plus visited Warren Dunes State Park. Wife loved the shopping, I loved the harbors and the wine tour. We did all this with a 4 night stay. Best vacation in a while.
We are glad that you and your wife enjoyed your vacation and visiting "beach towns" in our area. We are blessed with our location - close to beaches, wineries, shopping, great restaurants, State Parks, nature or casino. Your pick! Thank you for your post and have a great year.

We had a wonderful time at this charming and relaxing home and gardens. The owners, Jitka and John are amazing hosts, and made us feel comfortable from the minute we arrived. Their attention to detail and cleanliness are apparent throughout. The gardens are beautiful, and so relaxing, and the wonderful breakfast would put the Ritz Carlton to shame!! Our only regret is that we could not stay longer, and are making plans to return.
Wow, this said a lot about our breakfasts - we try hard to serve what our local farms (or our gardens) can offer during the various seasons - that's why our breakfast are different each time: our guests who are staying multiple nights have a variety of different dishes each day. We look forward to have you over again - when the time comes. Thank you. Jitka

Truly wonderful place to stay. John and Jitka are the perfect hosts...
Thank you for sharing your experience. We hope that many more guests will try our Inn to enjoy our property, room and fulfilling breakfasts.

We had a wonderful stay. The house is surrounded by gorgeous grounds, including multiple outdoor seating areas with comfy furniture, hammocks, decks, yards to stroll, and a pond filled with Koi. Indoors the house is beautiful, clean, and very well maintained. John and Jitka are detailed-oriented innkeepers with guests needs and comfort the top priority. We have stayed at many B&B's over the years and none compare to the gourmet breakfasts (3 courses morning!) and personal service provided by John & Jitka. We will be returning in the fall. Thank you!
Thanks a lot! ......and we are looking forward to see you here in the fall, trees changing the colors, farmer's markets full of fresh produce, wonderfull scent of rippened grapes and new wines being made.....

In our 10 years of marriage we have visited many B&B's and this one by far was over-the-top. You won't be sorry. Wonderful hospitality and a beautiful home for guests to visit.
Thank you. We are glad that you choose our B&B to celebrate your 10th year anniversary - and that we met your expectations.

We enjoyed our stay. The food was wonderful, the hosts were very helpful and the inn was relaxing private and very clean.
Thank you. That is our goal: relaxation of our guests in all the aspects....

My husband and I were looking for a place to cellebrate our 19th wedding anniversary. Dove Nest B & B was wonderful. The Oak Room was big and comfortable. The deck overlooking the backyard was serene. The gourmet 3 course breakfast truly was memorable. Our hosts, Jitka and John made us feel right at home. Lots to do in the area, we visited St. Joseph & Silver Beach, dunes, and several wineries. We will be back!
Thank you - choice of Royal Oak Room for anniversaries, honeymoons or special occassions is the best. Large room, high ceilings, private balcony, ample of storage space, personal refrigerator- all it adds to feeling of comfort and relaxation. Our great location (being close to all "happenings" but off the beaten path) brings us guests from all over the US and also international guests. We enjoy our guests and hope that they will enjoy our area and will take back home all the good memories. We would love to see you back for your 20th anniversary - we will make it special! - just let us know!

We had a wonderful visit at Dove Nest B&B. Among our over 20 B&B experiences around the USA, this was one of the best ... from the venue, to the cleanliness, to the food, to the friendliness of the host and hostess. An added treat was meeting face to face, one of the more well-known golf touring professionals in the world, a fellow guest, in town for the 73 SPGA.
Thank you. Glad to have you here. And we both enjoyed a special treat: to have a well known European golfer staying with us for the whole week. It was an great experience to watch professional golfers to play at Harbor Shores golf course - designed by Jack Nicklaus. We will see them again in 2014 !!!

The Dove Nest B&B does everything right, from the rooms to afternoon treats to breakfast. The location is easy to find and from the time you arrive till you depart you have the Hosts thinking how to make your stay enjoyable. The landscape is incrediblle and the "Dove Nest" name so appropriate. I do not know how John is able to make himself so available, his knowledge of plants and birds is incredible. The room was comfortable and everything perfect. The breakfast was elegant tasty and filling, it is one of the best.

We spent one night at Dove Nest B&B and thoroughly enjoyed it. There were fresh cookies upon our arrival and a friendly welcome. The accomodations were excellent. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. It was a delightful retreat and we would definitely stay there again when we're in the area.
Thak you for taking your time to write a review. We are glad to hear that you had a great experience here at Dove Nest. And ..you are invited to come back again - our area has a lot of to offer ......

We love when our guests come back. And we like to hear about any improvements we can do to make the stay even more comfortable and memorable.

we stayed here this past weekend and were both wowed by the amazing place, service, and experience we had at the dove nest. john & jitka have built a beautiful home with impeccable landscaping. the house was immaculate, the beds were ridiculously comfortable, and it was the right mix of cozy and luxury. we had the royal oak room with a spacious bathroom and a private dining space, and they did everything to make us feel welcome (tulips - my favorite! - in the bedroom) and help us with our getaway (maps, restaurant menus and recommendations). the food was spectacular - fresh, delicious, and truly homemade with cute little touches (we had lovebirds as salt and pepper shakers) and thoughtful recipes. jitka even made afternoon treats that were incredible. john and jitka are great hosts, fun, friendly, and just adorable. we enjoyed getting to know them as well. the location is great - close to many wineries and not far from 'town'. it was great for us 'big city' folk to get away. this was by far the best b&b we've stayed at, and can't wait to come back again!
Thank you and we are happy that have enjoyed your stay. We like when our guests appreciate not only our B&B and our hospitality but also our great location -close to everywhere - beaches, casinos, nature centres, state parks, wineries and let's not forget area golf courses. Come back in the summer to enjoy more flowers at our gardens, more summer activities at the beach and wineries, experience sun set cruises on beautiful lake Michigan.......We'll love to see you again.

Everything was terrific about my stay. The room was great: clean and with a nice view of the pond in back. The food and after-work (I was there on business) treats were delicious, especially the three-course breakfasts, made with my preferences in mind. Very quiet at night and only a short drive to downtown St. Joe. Not the best idea to go for a run on Scottdale Road, but I drove a mile or so down the road and started my run there on some not-so-fast roads and it was just fine. An alternative that I didn't get the chance to try was to drive downtown to run along the lake shore. Would definitely go back again, whether on business or with my wife.
We like to have business guests at our place and we like to host more of them in the future. Thank you for your posting and we are glad that you liked our place and found it suitable for your business needs. We both are looking forward to host you here again on your business trip or with your wife.

I was looking for a honeymoon getaway for my wife and I when I found Dove's Nest. From the beginning I knew Dove's Nest was a good choice. Their customer service is absolutely amazing. They have a really nice honeymoon package that makes the stay that much more "magical". The B&B is beautiful as well as the area around it. The breakfast is really like no other, we enjoyed it every day. My wife and I plan to return for years to come. 5 stars hands down.
I am so happy that you enjoyed your honeymoon getaway and that we were able to create that "magic" feeling when you entered the room. Thank you for your posting and we are - for sure- looking forward to see you here in the future. All the best in your life together!!

We stayed here for our 1st ann and had a wonderful time. The Inn - We stayed in the Royal Oak room which was the biggest room. It had a private balcony, a huge jetted tub, a very comfortable bed with great sheets and linens. It had a flat scren tv with a bluray player. There were soft robes, a heater in the bathroom to keep it nice and warm, a fridge, water, and soda in the room, a blanket on a chair to warm up with, etc. Overall, we felt like we had our privacy which was a concern initially of my husband and we still had the warm and fuzzy feeling of a bed and breakfast. The Food - The breakfast each day was amazing. It was 3 courses served with water, coffee, and a different juice. The first course might be a fresh fruit and yogurt parfait (amazing!), the second course an egg dish with a meat (my husband doesn't eat pork so they gave us venison sausage yum), and the third dish cherry waffles or blueberry pancakes. We didn't have to eat lunch any day we were there. One day we had homemade chili made from their tomatoes and venison that they had hunted. Everything was great. Also, every evening we came back from town Jitka had prepared something and left it out for us. One day it was a brownie that we enjoyed with some cherry wine we bought at a winery. The innkeepers - John and Jitka are both great. They were very talkative and informative without being intrusive. You can tell they love their home and their business and take it very seriously. John can tell you stories about anything and Jitka is the sweetest thing. You can tell they are very much in love and love what they do as well. They left us a card and a rose for our anniversary in our room. Also, their prices for special things in your room are extremely reasonable compared to other hotels or b&b's. We had an amazing cheese, crackers, and grapes try along with some wine. It was so good we asked for another the night before we left!
Thank for your elaborate review. I think it said it all about your stay - no more to add.....As our motto says: Dove Nest Bed and Breakfast: ...."It's not just a place to stay...it is an experience"....

We stayed at the Dove Nest in January. We found our time away to be just right. I just love that fireplace; such a cozy place to relax! It will be fun to come back to St. Joe when it is bustling again in the summer. Such a lovely getaway, thank you!
Thank you. Everyone loves the real stone fireplace when the fire is crackling in the winter time. All our bedrooms have their own year-around fireplaces for ambiance and to keep guests cozy as everyone has their own "likes" about room temperature. And yes, when summer comes, the garden, porch, backyard, become alive with varieties of flowers and plants - transforming the place to another level.

My husband and I like to get away after the holidays to relax, catch up on some much needed rest & have some time alone together. We have stayed at bed & breakfasts before, but this one was extremely nice. When we arrived, we settled in & then were warmly welcomed with mulled wine & snacks. The room was nicely maintained & very comfortable. The wake up room service coffee was a nice perk. Breakfast was delicious & huge. We would highly recommend Dove Nest & it's wonderful innkeepers!
Thank you for your recommendation. Just a little note: the room service is provided only for the Royal Oak Room (large bedroom with Jacuzzi, high ceilings, own fridge and balcony). I thought I add this note for others so the guests staying in the other rooms are not disappointed or would not expect to have their morning coffee delivered.

My husband and I were looking for a place to unwind from the weekly hustle and bustle of BIG CITY life. This was our first bed and breakfast experience. John and Jitka are an asset to this industry. They really enjoy their clients as much as you enjoy your stay. The breakfast was as elegant as any fine restaurant could offer. Your hosts, John and Jitka are just as inviting and warm as their lovely bed and breakfast. We felt like this was a home away from home. The other wonderful advantage is that the wineries are only about 10 min. from this place. We visited Tabor Hill and had a lovely experience. We bought wine and brought it back for a romantic evening for two next to the fireplace with chocolate. The bathrooms at the dove nest are newly remodeled with Granite. This upgrade was a very nice touch. The beds are so inviting and before you know it you drift off. We only stayed one night, but wanted to stay more. This is DEFINATLY a destination that we will frequent in the future! I think we even made some new friends with our innkeepers!! Thank you so much for the relaxing time, John and Jitka!
Thank you - you are always welcome to stay more than 1 day! We are fortunate to be so close not only to the best beaches on Lake Michigan but also to string of 9 quality wineries: within 10-15 min from our Dove Nest B&B. No need to rush with the tasting (when tour coach is waiting), you can visit and taste the wine of other wineries next day at your leasure. Thank you again and we are happy that you enjoyed our B&B.

I planned a girls weekend here with my best friend. It was our first time to St. Joseph and to the Dove Nest. Jitka and John were extremely kind, generous and accommodating. Much to our surprise, the breakfasts were not one, not two, but three courses! Portioned out accordingly so you could have a taste of each course without feeling too stuffed, the food and beverages were fantastic. Around 5pm each day they would also put out a treat and beverages were available all day. Hearing the story of how the Dove Nest came to be and exploring their property even though it was a bit chilly outside made for a well-rounded experience. I would highly recommend them to anybody looking for a guaranteed positive B&B experience.
Thank you so much for your comment. Yes it is chilly now in St. Joseph, one of the lovely beach towns in SW Michigan. (Also called the most romantic town and Riviera of SWM). Our fireplace in the lounge room gives an extra heat now and add an ambiance with real wood burning. And also you can turn on the fireplace in your room to keep the cozy feeling. We hope that our guest will enjoy stay with us regardless the weather outside.

Jitka and John were very hospitable and warm. They went out of their way to make our weekend very special. The breakfast was amazing and plentiful. The room was spotless and lovely. Jitka and John are an awesome couple who show much passion for their business and their surrounding property.
Thank you - we are glad that you were pleased with our B&B. Our 3-course breakfast gets a lot of positive comments and guests are not leaving the table hungry. We use fresh seasonal vegetables and herbs from our garden or nearby farmers. Yes, we are proud of our property - the fall colors are showing throughout the gardens now: yellow, orange and red leaves of maples....hmmm lots of leaves to rake........

We had a wonderful stay at the Dove Nest Bed and Breakfast. Accomodations were comfortable and clean. Jitka and John were wonderful hosts. Always looking for a good deal, the price was spot on for the area.
Thank you - we appreciate your comment - we run various specials through-out the year and we offer at least 10% off for our repeat guests (based on the time of the year, day of the week, room availability, etc.)

My husband, 4 year old son, and I spent a night here when I had an appointment in St. Joe. I did not want to stay in a regular hotel, wanting something a bit more personal. Dove Nest is the only b&b in the area that will let children stay, and for that, I am eternally grateful. John and Jitka are very genial and were incredibly wonderful with my son. Jitka even found some Legos for him! The Blue Sky room was very nicely appointed and very comfortable. The large bathroom was fantastic! All in all, Dove Nest is very homey, and it is easy to relax! The only thing that put a blot on our stay was the weather! However, even with the rain, we were able to enjoy their beautiful property. I cannot wait to return in summer to have a paddle in the canoe and take a tour of some nearby wineries!
Thank you - your son is a very nice kid. The Blue Sky room is conveniently located on the main floor apart from other upstairs bedrooms which makes is a great location for family with children while keeping "quietness" upstairs. We hope that weather will be more cooperative next time (hot and sunny). And 9 wineries which are located within 10-15 minutes from our B&B will await you.

We planned a relaxing weekend of wine tasting and bike riding for our 11th Anniversary. This B & B was away from the city and 'vines' were all around in this quiet country setting. I saw a couple of wineries were a short bike ride away which we rode to on our first day. Of course we showed up early to the Dove's Nest and Jitka was there happy and welcoming to accommodate our changing and setting off on our ride. Each night John was ready for a relaxing fire out back and great conversation. Breakfast in the morning is truly one of the best breakfast's I have enjoyed, five stars. As to our surprise Jitka and John presented us an anniversary card and a small gift; very thoughtful. We were deciding between a few B&B's in the area but were very pleased with our decision. When we visit the area again this is where we will stay. --The Wooly's
Thank you. We are glad that you enjoyed our breakfast - a lot of people make positive comments about our breakfasts. We work hard to earn these comments. We want our guests to feel welcome, comfortable and relaxed. Thank you for choosing us.

To celebrate my mom’s 71st birthday, I wanted to give her a weekend getaway treat. I was so excited when I found Dove and Nest’s website and after speaking with a very friendly and personable John, he convinced me to book for 2 nights! Mom & I were greeted by Jitka, and as soon as we walked in we felt the warmness of the house. Jitka showed us around the property and we were so impressed with the koi pond, the birds, the hammock, the gardens and the porches. Mom was surprised and delighted when she saw the fresh flowers and surprise birthday cake waiting for us in the Pond View Room. We decided to bring the cake downstairs and had tea and cake with Jitka. I’m glad we did because we got to know more about Jitka & John, the house and surrounding area. The 3 course hot meal breakfast the next two mornings were so scrumptiously delicious and filling (we didn’t eat again until dinner). It was such a treat to have a relaxing and home cooked breakfast served by Jitka & John, the special touch of having a tea cup with the month of mom's birthday was very nice. Before we departed, Mom was able hold the beautiful fan tail dove for a photo opportunity. The only regret that we have is that we didn’t have enough time to relax with our books and enjoy the quietness and scenery of the pond, the gardens, the porches and the fire pit. I’m already recommending Dove and Nest to friends & I (along with some friends and mom) will definitely be back next year!
Thank you. We are happy to help to create special memories in our guest's life. And these B-days need to be celebrated each year - we are glad to be part of your mom's celebration. Many happy returns and good healh in the future. We are looking forward to see you again. And do not forget to remind us that you are a repeat customer - to claim your "repeat customer" discount.

My husband and 8 month old son just spent 2 nights here. We had such an amazing time, with gracious hosts. Jitka and John are so attentive and personable. From the moment we walked in, they were friendly, sweet, and helpful. They had so many great recommendations for restaurants and wineries in the area. Their grounds, expertly built and attended to by John and Jitka, are beautiful and surprising! The house and rooms are very clean and comfortable. We stayed in the Blue Sky room with attached extra room, which was just as big as the one we stayed in. Such a great deal for those with kids/baby! Jitka even turned on the fireplace in the room for us to make sure it was warm enough for the baby! Excellent B & B, fun vacation, and spectacular hosts. We will definitely go back again!
We are happy that you were happy. And your baby boy was such a sweet baby. Enjoy him! All the best to your family.

We stayed at the Dove Nest B&B for three nights and had a lovely/wonderful time. It was very relaxing to sit by the campfire at night, use the hammocks, or enjoy the pond during the late afternoon. Jitka and John are wonderful hosts and have many experiences to share! The 3 course breakfasts were outstanding; beyond what I have had at a B&B before! They are located in the midst of 6 wineries and about 6 miles from Silver Lake in St. Joe's. We highly recommend Dove's Nest. Stay in the Royal Oak Suite, it is definitely worth it!
Hammocks, pond and campfire - great combination for the summer. Thank you for your comments. Next time try to use our canoe to "glide" accross the pond: it is relaxing to listen to "tree frogs" at night.

John and Jitka bend over backwards to please their guests. Their friendly, welcoming manner makes them wonderful hosts. We booked their most economical room, which was certainly very comfortable for 2 with luxurious linens and a roomy modern bath, yet they treated us as though we had booked their most expensive accommodation. They offered many extra amenities (wine and toasted marshmallows around a nighttime firepit to name just one) and their delicious 3-course gourmet breakfasts are stylishly presented and served. It was a treat!
All our guests are treated the same way - regardless of what room they are staying. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you again.

Thank you. We received a few positive comments about our comfortable beds (mattresses). Good Bed and Good Breakfast -that's what we are offering.

We chose the Dove Nest on two criteria: price and they offered a room for three people. They are by far the most affordable B&B in the area. When we arrived, we were greeted by the owners and given a tour of their breathtakingly beautiful home. There is literally something for everyone here: a shaded porch to sit and sip wine, pine forests, gardens, koi pond, canoing. It was a beautiful getaway. And when we came home late in the evening, they had a fire going and great conversation. Breakfast was three courses and every bite was delicious. I very highly recommend staying at this most amazing little getaway. I will definitely be returning.

A very clean place with lovely surroundings. Quiet and secluded from the hustle of the city. The hosts were very accomodating and made our stay pleasant. Great food too! Would highly recommend them!
Yes,secluded from the hustle of the city but still in very close proximity to main attractions: beaches, sunsets, wineries or restaurants. And just because we are not directly located walking distance to the beach we offer a FREE parking pass for our main Silver Beach. Thank you.

We soo enjoyed our stay at the Dove's Nest. John and Jitka were outstanding hosts. We were in town for a triathlon and they made every effort to cater to our needs, including giving up their own private quarters to stay in because we had no place to go!! (We procrastinated too long). But, boy, are we happy we did procrastinate, because we wouldn't have met these lovely people and had the opportunity to stay in their beautiful and relaxing home. Thanks again John and Jitka. We will be back. :)
I guess sometimes procrastination pays off ...- we are glad that we met with you and we enjoyed the triathlon B&B experience as well (of course in the inkeeper's possition). Hope to see you next year again.

I've never written a review for any place my husband and I have stayed at but felt compelled to write this one. Though we have stayed many places over the years, this place has it all covered. The room was perfect. I thought I had to have been the first person to use the bathroom in our room because it was so clean. The food was superb. So much, we could not finish. And the grounds are like a paradise. So relaxing that although check out was at 11am or so, we were there talking to the owner down by the pond watching the goldfish till 1:30. Wonderful people and perfect for owning a B&B. If you are planning on staying in St. Joe, MI you have to check out this place.

Endless pages of compliments could be written about innkeepers, John & Jitka, and their B & B. The Dove Nest is relaxation, romance, comfort, and casual elegance wrapped in one ultimate B & B experience. Our stay at the Dove Nest was one the most memorable and enjoyable weekends we’ve had. Every minute of our stay exceeded expectations and was filled with heartfelt hospitality- John & Jitka personalized the experience as one-of-a kind (and made breakfasts fit for royalty / some of the best we’ve ever had!). We stayed in the Royal Oak & Garden Victoria rooms- both which were spacious, quiet & restful, luxurious, and had pampering amenities (including bedside chocolates)! The Dove Nest location feels like a secluded hideaway and has astonishing grounds, including scenic settings, hammocks to unwind in, and our favorite…a romantic pond in the back to relax and spend time together! John & Jitka, you have created something so special with your home and we are so grateful to have had the opportunity to meet you both and to enjoy such a lavish B & B weekend getaway. Thank you & we cannot wait to return, Robert & Ashley!
Wow, it feels so nice to read this. Thank you, Robert and Ashley - sometimes we do not realize how we affect our guest by having them here and offering our services and sourroundings. We are happy and grateful for you and all our guests, who came here this summer. It will be a pleasure to see you again.

We were spending our first exteded stay away from the kids. The Dove Nest was so much better than a hotel and the food was fabulous! We felt like royalty! Presentation of breakfast was outstanding! There were several nice touches; frest flowers, beautiful bedding, bathsalts, homemade baked goods in the afternoon, bottled water in the room, and CDs for the room as we had no idea what radio station to choose. The grounds were full of flowers, interesting trees, and a koi pond. We loved it!
Thank you. It is always good to get away from the kids for couple of days (and feels so good to see them again!) And hopefuly they will appreciate their parents more. We are glad that you enjoyed our gardens - the grounds are pretty with flowers adoring them.

How lucky I was to run across this delightful B&B on the internet. The whole stay was outstanding. Our hosts were delightful and very people friendly. Our rooms were charming and with all the necessities you could need. Our breakfast was not your typical B&B continental breakfast. It was a full gourmet breakfast.(yum) We have already booked for next year. That should tell you something. Char and Frank
Thank you for your comments and for the next year booking! We hope that you will enjoy your stay next time too!

Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by John and Jitka and made to feel at home. Proof: Within 30 minutes of heading upstairs to our room, Jitka brought us delicious ice cream. The bedroom—the Royal Oak—was spacious and beautiful. The large walk-in closet allowed us to unpack our clothes, something we are normally reluctant to do when staying at a hotel. The three course breakfast satiated our appetites. One morning we ate blueberries with yogurt and granola; course two offered fresh omelets; the final course comprised crepes filled with bananas and chocolate. John made a fire for us the first night. We roasted marshmallows and talked about life. It was an idyllic end to a relaxing day. This was our first Bed & Breakfast stay. Suffice it to say, we plan on patronizing the Dove Nest the next time we visit St. Joseph. You will not find more accommodating, gracious hosts.
Thank you - we are glad that your first B&B experience was a good one - and that B&B's will be a choice of preference to hotel for your next time. We look forward to welcome you back next year.

We were blessed to be able to stay at the Dove Nest during a family wedding. John and Jitka were the most gracious hosts, ever ready to accomodate whatever our desires were. We were delighted by John's knowledge of trees, plants and the St. Joseph area and very much enjoyed both of their kindness and their desire to make this an extremely pleasant stay. The food was prepared fresh, served in an appetizing way and we did not leave either morning's breakfast table hungry! Our room was quiet, very clean and the bed was so comfortable, guaranteeing us a restful slumber! We would definitely come back and certainly recommend the Dove Nest as an A+ Bed and Breakfast!
Thank you. It was our first "family wedding stay" experience - the whole house was booked for family and friends. That makes is fun for everybody. Eat and talk and relax together without hassle to make appointments for get-together meetings. Glad that you enjoyed it - we did too. And thank you for an invitation to your son's wedding reception.

John and Jitka were a wonderful Host and Hostess!! The food was amazing and so was the service. As a photographer, I am always looking for a great spot to take pictures and the landscaping at the Dove Nest is the perfect spot. They are close but not to close to St. Joseph. My husband and I would not think twice before staying again!! Wonderful experience!!!

We cannot say enough about our wonderfully relaxing stay at the Dove Nest Bed and Breakfast. John served up an amazing breakfast every morning and provided a wonderful firepit to visit around in the evening. Amazing hospitality!! The Royal Oak Room was the perfect room for our relaxing weekend away for our 16th anniversary. The grounds are beautiful as well. We will definitely be spending more time at the Dove Nest B&B! Thanks, John and Jitka for providing such a relaxing and romantic getaway for us:)

Just returned from a wonderful stay at Dove Nest Bed and Breakfast. We found our host to be very knowledgeable about the area and helpful in making out stay fun. The room was spotless and so delightful. The food was served so attractively and so plentiful. Breakfast was an exciting event to start our day. The location was off the beaten path and the grounds were so well designed. We were encouraged to make use of all they had to offer.

Jitka and John provide the perfect combination of luxury and comfort in their stunning home in St. Joseph, MI. The rooms were beautiful with the most comfortable beds, and the breakfasts were truly a treat. We felt like honored family in every way! I can't wait to return.

The Dove Nest Bed and Breakfast opened recently in St. Joseph, Michigan, and we can recommend it as a wonderful place to stay. Our hosts John and Jitka provided delicious three-course breakfasts each of our three mornings, and made us feel welcome and comfortable. Their home is a spacious one just outside of town, not far from several wineries, which we cycled to, and has a big yard with all kinds of flora and (delightful) fauna. In the evening we even sat around a firepit and got to know our host over a fire and smores. The Dove Nest is a great place.

We were struck by the beauty of the home and landscaping as we entered the property. John and Jitka gave us a tour of the facilities and grounds. They do all the landscaping themselves and the care shows. Our room was well decorated and the bed was very comfortable. Everything about Dove Nest says we are glad you're here and how may we serve you. The breakfast was fantastic and served with style. We definitely want to go back again.
