We enjoyed our stay here, very nice room staying in the toy box room, double the size of the aft cabin but both were clean with great views of lake. Breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit and some cobbler dessert, very light breakfast. Coffee was the only portion that was not gluten free but we had a great time. Would recommend. If you are going out to eat I recommend the Stone Lodge for dinner and drinks by the fireplace!

Nicholas and Sandy made us so comfortable with the accommodations and beautifully displayed and tasteful breakfasts. We invited the family and rented their entire facility. What a special time we had together! They thought of everything in the cottage where we had a cookout to celebrate a couple of birthdays. The kitchen had everything we needed. I highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast.

Already missing the relaxed atmosphere we experienced at the B & B---what a lovely way to spend a long weekend with treasured friends....Sandy and Nicholas "thank you" for making our stay so special...we enjoyed your home, the fantastic breakfast and of course Pucci!! Oh, Sandy the blueberries are plentiful and so tasty...great for your fruit crisp Your friends, Jill, LaDawn, Christine, Cheryl and Diane 8/13/13
We love the energy, camaraderie and extra air of festivity when friends or family occupy the rooms. Nicholas and I try to stay out of your way when we're not making breakfast.

My husband and I have decided to make this our anniversary tradition to stay here each year. Our first time here last year led us to want to come back this year. This place is a gem and such a beautiful place to relax and enjoy lake Huron. Sandy and Nicolas are wonderful people and gracious hosts.
When the names of repeat guests pop up among the incoming reservations, it's like getting a little compliment, and we thank you for that. When repeat guests arrive, it challenges us to try to exceed their expectations. We thank you for that, too.

The reviews on various sites are uniformly positive. We agree with them all. There simply is no better B&B in SE Michigan, certainly not on the lake shore, and believe me we looked. But you have to get over the fact that the proprietors live in the house too, which for us was like having mom and dad in the next room. And that put a damper on things we wanted to do, i.e., thinness of the walls and us waking up in the middle of the night. That trade-off from the privacy and relative anonymity of a large hotel was the one drawback on an otherwise perfect weekend. Also though the breakfast selections are very much worth getting out of bed and dressed for, since we were away from the kids I might have rather opted for sleeping in and enjoying my spouse for breakfast. Again something that room service and a do not disturb sign would have gotten us at a major hotel. Nevertheless I'm sure we will go back at some point. But I think we will use the Sandy Cottage for just the two of us to get maximum privacy.

Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations. The decor, comfort, cleanliness, location, food, and the hosts friendliness was outstanding. Thank you both for a great "get a way."

Three friends (since childhood) and myself stayed at Sandy Cottage for our 50th bday celebration. It was the perfect place to kick back and relax. The cottage is beautiful with tons of space/elbow room and accommodated the four of us nicely. Come with your clothes & food because Sandy & Nick have thought of EVERYTHING when it comes to stocking this lovely home. And be sure to wake early at least one time to take in a sunrise. Gorgeous!

My boyfriend and I spent a night to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. It was the perfect place to get away and relax for the weekend! The toybox room is huge with fun decorations and comfy chairs. The wine glasses and wine opener in the room were perfect since we had brought a bottle of wine. Sandy even left cookies in our room while we were out to dinner! Her and Nick were great hosts and we felt pampered with gourmet breakfast and all the little touches they do in their home to make people feel welcome!

We had a great time at Sandy Cottage! Came here for Easter weekend and it was also my boyfriend's birthday! It was sooo spacious, and well over what we had planned! We will definitely be back before the summer season starts!

This was our first visit but it was all we expected and more. Only an hour from the Detroit area, very quiet and away from it all. Our two gourmet breakfasts were out of this world. Nicholas and Sandy our hosts, made us feel right at home. We will be back! Doug & Mary Ann Evans

The room was beautifully decorated, and the bed was so comfortable! We slept to the sound of gently lapping waves. The little touches, such as the candles and wineglasses in the room, the fresh flowers, and the handmade soap in the bathroom made our stay feel extra special. The innkeepers were very welcoming and Sandy made an amazing breakfast!

My wife and I have a wonderful visit at Adventure Inn in Lakeport, Michigan. We stayed in the Toy Box Room which is spacious and comfortable, with a modern bathroom, television, and a beautiful eastern facing view of Lake Huron. To be awakened by the sunrise was great fun. The room is tastefully appointed and large enough for someone to contemplate a multi-day stay. The opportunity for walks on the beach or a dip in the lake was there as well. Our hosts, Nicholas and Sandy, were very nice and we enjoyed talking with them. They also provided good guidance regarding restaurants and local attractions. Breakfast, served in the sun room facing the lake, was divine! Fresh fruit and granola served as the appetizer for a greta frittata to come. The coffee and juices were great, too. We could think of nothing to add. All in all, Adventure Inn is a hidden jewel in this part of Michigan. We will plan a return trip!

We stayed in the Toy Room on our way to Niagara Falls. The next time we will make sure our stay covers several nights. The Toy Room is fun, spacious with wonderful touches of whimsy and a terrific view of Lake Huron. Breakfast was delicious.. Sandy and Nicholas could not have been more gracious and accomodating. When they heard we would be arriving late in the day they offered to provide sald and sandwiches in case we were too tired to go out to eat. We highly recommend Adventure Inn for your next vacation or if you are driving to Canada like we were. It's the perfect place to spend the night, only minutes from the Bridge to Canada. We will be back. Larry & Jessica Lettow

This place was the perfect getaway for these parents of 5 little ones. The sound of the waves outside of the windows in the Toybox room were the icing on the cake. All around a relaxing, fun time.

My wife and I chose the Adventure Inn for our 10 year anniversary. We couldn't have been more pleased. Sandy and Nicholas were amazing hosts, creating an atmosphere like nothing we have ever experienced. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the views were breathtaking, and the breakfast provided was top notch. I could not recommend this B&B highly enough!! We are already planning our next trip(s) to this Great Lakes gem. Dale and Rebecca - West Bloomfield, MI

Adventure Inn was absolutely spectacular. From the moment we pulled in, we were greeted by stunning views, and a gorgeous property. We were shown around, and then taken to our room “The toy box.” It was much larger than we expected and meticulous. The entire inn was spotless. The bed was so comfy, and the sheets/ linens were so plush. The view from the toy box suite was of the lake and beach, and it was stunning. Bed and bath amenities are top of the line. From the wonderful handmade soap, to the box of band aids, and package of makeup remover wipes - Sandy has thought of everything to pamper you! And just wait and see what delicious little petite fours appear in your room before you retire! The internet service was fast and reliable, the TV was large and clear. We had X-Finity to watch movies at night. Breakfast.. Our breakfast was delicious and delightful. On our last morning we had pie for breakfast (or as Sandy explained, as close to pie as you can come, for breakfast) and we are still talking about how GREAT it was. The table conversation was always fun and lively, we stayed for three nights, and we were able to have breakfast with two different sets of guests - I was skeptical, but it was so much fun to start your day off telling stories, hearing stories, laughing over coffee (tons and tons of great coffee), wonderful juice - (MUST try the white grape), gorgeous views and making friends with guests and owners. Take a ride on the old Shwinn bikes into the state park - so pretty and so easy, anyone can do it, kids, adults, older folks, anyone! Gorgeous flat, wooded trails, very easy to maneuver. The beach in front of the Inn is very pretty, there is sand, but a lot of rocks - the kind you can sit and dig thru for hours finding all sorts of unique stones and fossils.. so fun! We plan to be repeat guests and try to visit during all the seasons.. Book it. You'll be glad you did. :)

We (two couples) stayed overnight in Aug 2011 at the Adventure inn....while our main goal was comfortable accommodation as we were visiting the area to golf for two days at Fore Lakes (about 30 mins away), our evening and morning ended up being highlight as well! Sandy made arrangements to have a local caterer have our meals waiting for us in the evening - and we dined very comfortably on their back deck overlooking the water. After a scrumptious dessert, we walked for an hour or so on the beach - then settled into the Muskoka chairs with a glass (or two) of wine. The rooms were extremely comfortable and the hand made soap and plush towels and bedding topped off a great day. Our breakfast was terrific and very filling - coffee again out on the deck before we returned for a second day of golf. Most highly recommended. Thank you Sandy and Nicholas!

From flashlights and water shoes, to menus and directions, the caretakers have thought about everything. The food was fabulous and the sheets were heavenly. A great, quiet getaway. The innkeepers did not seem to have an issue with us being gay, but we are low-key lesbians. I can't speak to gay men or the less conforming.

As they say, "God is in the details" and all the details were there to make our stay at the Adventure inn memorable. The hosts are most gracious and the hospitality is wonderful. Don't get spoiled, cause it will be difficult to transition into reality when you leave. idris/fauzia/amara Waterloo, ON

Since it was my birthday weekend, my husband decided to plan a surprise night at a bed and breakfast for us. He chose this B&B for several reasons: 1) we had stayed here before and thoroughly enjoyed it, 2) It wasn't too far away from home, but seemed far enough that we were away, 3) the innkeepers are marvelous. The room that we stayed in, The Toy Box, has wonderful picture windows that overlook the lake. The room also has a plasma TV, Bluray DVD that has Netflix streaming, authentic old time slot machines (they actually work) and is decorated with a very charming flair. The room is very spacious and has a private bathroom with a huge stand up shower. The innkeepers, Sandy and Nicholas, go out of their way to make you feel very welcome and inviting. They make sure that you have everything you need for your celebration, ie a wine bucket for chilling your wine or recommendations for area restaurants for that special dinner. The breakfast was made to order with special attention given to the finest details of presentation. Thank you Sandy and Nicholas for making my birthday weekend special.
