The White Rabbit Inn is a small eight room bed and breakfast located in the lovely little village of Lakeside, Michigan, only 90 minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown Chicago, or less than 3-1/2 hours from Detroit or Indianapolis. We are surrounded by sophisticated antique stores, exquisite art galleries, highly-acclaimed gourmet restaurants and only a short drive from nearby award winning Michigan wineries like Round Barn Winery, St. Julian, Domaine Berrien Cellars and Tabor Hill. Best of all, our Inn is only a few blocks or a brief, ten minute walk from the nearest public beach access. And less than five miles away, rests majestic Warren Dunes State Park with its sugar sand beaches, wooded trails and of course Lake Michigan. For fans of the fine arts, nearby Three Oaks, MI is home to both the Vickers Film Theatre as well as the Acorn Performing Arts Theater. You will find plenty to do year-round in Harbor Country.

I would like to start by saying that AJ was a cordial host. He had many suggestions about our planned outings and offered to help with any restaurant reservations or ideas we might need. However, in my opinion, the White Rabbit Inn fell more in line with a motel/cottage that offered at best a continental breakfast. The bed in our room felt like we were sleeping on bare springs, very uncomfortable. A train passed every night in the middle of the night. The walls were so thin we could hear everything in the next room (apparently a honeymooning couple). The TV, not that I had any plans on watching, was small and antequated. The breakfast was pastries, oatmeal, or cereal, never got the feeling someone was actually making breakfast. (AJ said some of the pastries were left overs). For over $100/nt., I would expect at least a comfortable bed, and some type of protein for breakfast, eggs, sausage, etc. Very dissappointed.

Directions from Detroit and I-94 West: Exit 16 (Bridgman) from I-94. Turn right from exit on to Red Arrow Highway. Drive approximately 6 miles until you see the White Rabbit Inn sign on your right. Directions from Chicago and I-94 East: Exit 6 (Union Pier) from I-94. Turn right from exit on to Union Pier Road. Follow Union Pier Road approximately 1.5 miles to the blinking red light at Red Arrow Highway. Turn right (north) onto Red Arrow Highway and drive for two miles through Lakeside until you see the White Rabbit Inn sign on your left. Directions from South Bend, Indiana and U.S. 12: Take U.S. 12 approximately 21 miles due west until "T" intersection at traffic light in New Buffalo. Turn right from light on to Red Arrow Highway. Drive approximately 5 miles through Union Pier and Lakeside until you see our White Rabbit sign on your left.
