Our family’s second home with studio apartment is available for short-term, private rentals. The rustic Art & Crafts style and surroundings evoke a European country cottage, yet it’s located within the newly vibrant, historic little city of Buchanan (as featured in Chicago Magazine). Enjoy a casual, cozy retreat. Explore the many area vineyards, farmers' markets, Lake Michigan towns, and antique and book shops. On chilly evenings enjoy board games, popcorn and old videos. Unique restaurants serving the fare of the season will delight. Vacationers/Wine-Touring Overflow guests Interns/grad students/visiting lecturers Notre Dame events

We visited for a romantic wine-touring weekend and had a wonderful time. Would recommend it to anyone who wants a casual, private place. Feels like the middle of the country, but it's a short walk to the historic little town. Just a few minutes drive from Fernwood and the vineyards.

Wow, what a wonderful place to stay! Nestled in the quaint town of Buchanan, PearTree Place suited out needs perfectly. It was a quick walk to the charming town area, and a short drive to many fun activities such as "apple picking". We enjoyed the studio apartment, which was decorated with an artist's eye. Our host and hostess were delightful and made us feel welcome. Our refrigerator was stocked with yogurt, orange juice, muffins, and other goodies on arrival. It would have been a great deal at twice the price. A real Gem! Pam and Ed

I had been looking for a reason to leave the city and after reading an article in my Chicago magazine headed north to the quaint town of Buchanan. The area is full of orchards and vineyards within driving distance. I enjoyed walking around the community of Buchanan as well as venturing out to larger towns such as St. Joseph and New Buffalo. This is an affordable place to visit if you are in need of a budget conscience vacation.
3.6 out of 5a fine place to stay

As a single woman passing through an unknown town, I was a bit apprehensive. But the quaint and cozy "writers' loft" atmosphere of the efficiency apartment was charming and felt very safe. The hosts were extremely gracious. A very good breakfast and very good price for the Notre Dame game weekend. (I couldn't find anything within 60 miles for even double the rates.) I highly recommend it for visitors to Note Dame's campus. Was also glad I had time to do some exploring of the countryside and my hosts were helpful and knowledgeable about places to visit.

We normally go to Wisconsin at this time of year for a family get-way and were so pleased to be able to discover SW Michigan! We stayed on the main floor, which is essentially like a small house with big stone fireplace. It's near so many attractions and the little town was great. Hosts were charming and friendly. Since it has newly opened, it will no doubt be even better next time we return.
