The Inn on Carleton is a unique B&B Inn with a tradition of fine hospitality, and is the perfect base from which to visit all the mid-coast's wonderful attractions. Set in Portland's fashionable West End neighborhood of Victorian era mansions and bordering the Arts Districts the Inn is close to an eclectic grouping of neighborhood restaurants and a short walk to the Old Port. The Inn is convenient to Casco Bay's ferry terminal to the Maine Islands, the international ferry terminal, and the Old Port area with its cobbled streets, colorful shops and many fine restaurants. Upon entering the Inn, the arched double doors open into a grand entryway. An elegant winding stairway leads to six wonderful guest rooms all with private baths, located on the second and third floors. In keeping with the historical flavor of the Inn, the six spacious guest rooms boast high ceilings. Your innkeepers and hosts Leo and Patricia Mennitt take great pride in creating a relaxing getaway. Comfortable accommodations await you along with a five star dining experience in the morning. So in planning your trip to Portland make the Inn on Carleton your very own romantic oasis.

Patricia and Leo have created a very comfortable, relaxing B&B in a beautiful victorian home. We stayed for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Easy walking distance to Old Port and Arts District.

My husband and I stayed at this inn last year and will be returning shortly. The innkeeper is kind, helpful and attentive to details. Breakfasts are fabulous... Our room was cozy and comfortable. We stay at b&b up and down the east coast. We can't wait to head back to Portland.

We stayed 2 nights at the Carleton Inn. Buddy is a fantastic host. He was always available and spent as much time with the guests as he could. Our room was # 3, King bed on the 2nd floor. Quite spacious with a huge bathroom. Plenty of light and air conditioning. The breakfasts were varied and home made and Buddy usually had fresh cookies available in the evening. We would choose to stay here if we come back to Portland.

My husband and I also own a Bed & Breakfast and this was our first trip away from our business for quite some time. We were really needing some R&R. We wanted to be pampered the same way we take care of our guests and I can say that indeed we were! Buddy met us as we arrived and showed us to our lovely room (Room 1). We loved it! The Carleton is a beautifully restored home and Buddy shared his exciting plans for future decorating. Fresh cookies awaited us (to my husbands delight) in the dining room that evening. The breakfast was yummy pumpkin pancakes. Should any of our guests be planning a trip to Maine, we will definitely recommend that they stay with Buddy at the Carleton.
