We Graciously welcome you to our restored 1869 Victorian home located in Portland Maine's prestigious , historic Western Promenade neighborhood. Upon entering the Inn, the arched double doors open into a grand entryway. An elegant , winding stairway leads to six wonderful guest rooms, all with private baths, located on the second and third floors. Close at hand are Casco Bays's ferry terminal to the Maine Islands, and the Old Port area with its cobbled stone streets, colorful shops and many fine dining restaurants. We stayed 2 nights at the Carleton Inn. Buddy is a fantastic host. He was always available and spent as much time with the guests as he could. Our room was # 3, King bed on the 2nd floor. Quite spacious with a huge bathroom. Plenty of light and air conditioning. The breakfasts were varied and home made and Buddy usually had fresh cookies available in the evening. We would choose to stay here if we come back to Portland.

My husband and I also own a Bed & Breakfast and this was our first trip away from our business for quite some time. We were really needing some R&R. We wanted to be pampered the same way we take care of our guests and I can say that indeed we were! Buddy met us as we arrived and showed us to our lovely room (Room 1). We loved it! The Carleton is a beautifully restored home and Buddy shared his exciting plans for future decorating. Fresh cookies awaited us (to my husbands delight) in the dining room that evening. The breakfast was yummy pumpkin pancakes. Should any of our guests be planning a trip to Maine, we will definitely recommend that they stay with Buddy at the Carleton.
