Marsden Hartley was deeply imbued with the Transcendentalist concept of “place.” Though often referred to as “the painter from Maine,” the artist was actually an extensive traveler, a restless seeker of spirituality. Outstanding Experience!

4.8 on September 18, 2014

Our stay at the Hartwell House Inn in picturesque Ogunquit could not have been better! A beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean room, accompanied by deliciously prepared breakfasts all within walking distance of the Marginal Way, fine restaurants and the Ogunquit Beach made for a wonderful three night visit. Innkeepers Charlene and Eric were exceptional hosts! We have already made reservations for our next visit

Paul and Andrea Riviere 30th Anniversary

We have stayed at several Bed & Breakfast Inns for our anniversaries from the Cape to Maine. The Hartwell House Inn exceeded our expectations and rates #1 on our B&B stays. From the location at Perkins Cove to the lavish room accommodations topped off with gracious hospitality and extraordinary breakfast makes this our next B&B visit over and over again. Thank you to Charlene and Eric and their staff for making this a memorable occasion. Heartfelt thanks, Paul and Andrea

My review

4.2 on September 17, 2014

We stayed at the Hartwell Inn for one night on our 10 day Maine vacation. It was the last night of our trip, within easy driving distance of Logan Airport. The Room, Service, State of the Inn were all top notch. However, after staying at Inns and B&B's the previous nine days, there was nothing to wow you. Part of my problem is that the whole Ogunquit area, was, in comparison with the rest of our experience in Bar Harbor, Castine, and Pemaquid, over priced, touristy, and just plain blah. So, for $200 a night it served its purpose, there was no better value near-by, etc. They served a good breakfast, high quality ingredients, etc. just nothing special.

lovely place to stay, fabulous hosts

We had a lovely stay, the inkeepers were delightful and attentive, and we felt like personal guests. Breakfast was amazing, and we very much enjoyed the afternoon tea and complimentary blueberry brandy. Would definitely return!

Great Place!

The inn keepers are so friendly. They suggested great dining and activities. The complimentary breakfast is gourmet and the atmosphere very fun. We had a wonderful experience and will be visiting again for sure!

Wonderful stay, definitely will return

We had a great time at the Hartwell House. The room we had was spacious, clean and comfortable. It was my boyfriend's birthday and they had a cake in the room (that I had ordered) when we opened the door. It was really relaxing. Also, it isn't right in the center of the town....just a few minutes to walk there, which we preferred and it wasn't as crowded.

Relaxing stay

Hartwell House Inn was the perfect quick getaway we needed. We relaxed, enjoyed the views and the food aplenty. Charlene is the most gracious host. Loved her tea time treats and breakfast. A must repeat next time we're in Ogunquit.

My fiancé and I had a great stay! We went with several other people and had a wonderful time. I loved the backyard space and it was so close to down town! We will absolutely go again. Thank you!

Ogunquit

4.4 on August 29, 2014

Wonderful room, wonderful bed, delicious breakfast, excellent staff. Told them that our AC needed to be cleaned and they were right on it. Side note, Ogunquit is ridiculously crowded and I recommend going off season. Lots of tourists with a fair share of rude people.

a fantastic experience!

It is a fantastic place. It's located right in the middle of Ogunquit, you can walk to all shops & restaurants, and it's only a 15 min walk to the beach. If walking isn't your thing, the trolley stops right in front of the inn. The rooms were incredibly clean and well-maintained. Also, it has a nice backyard which, when one has shopped / beached / imbibed enough, is a lovely and relaxing place to enjoy some shade with friends. The owners were fantastic, the breakfast is fantastic, I cannot praise this place enough. I was only there one night for a social obligation in Ogunquit, but now that I've been there I am planning to return again next summer. I'm hooked!
