The Spouter Inn was by far our most enjoyable B & B stay. While the amenities were all 5 star it was the hospitality of the hosts, Catherine and Paul that made the stay most memorable.

Wow! We were so delighted with our three-night stay at The Spouter Inn. We were away from the crowds in Camden yet only a very short distance drive down the coastline to visit Camden and Rockport. The owners of the inn, Paul and Catherine, are very gracious and made us feel right at home. The inn is kept immaculately clean, the furnishings lovely, the grounds well attended, the rooms nicely appointed with comfortable pillows and beds, PLUS outstanding breakfasts with lots of delicious choices including the time you want to eat. We met other nice traveling folks who expressed the same opinion as us -- We were glad we selected The Spouter Inn! We would return in a heartbeat.

The perfect place to relax and take in all the beauty of the Maine coast. Centrally located and convenient to everything from Rockport, Camden to Bar Harbor and Acadia. The innkeepers attention to detail and knowledge of the area was like having a personal tour guide.

This family run business has really met our expectations. The whole Inn is spotless, very clean. Our room was large and very comfortable with good furniture and expectational king-size bed. Every morning the breakfast is made with care by Paul and the overall service is the way it should be: It is there when you need it, when you don't they do not push it. High recommended in a beautiful state to explore.

4.6 out of 5A Choice Spot to Stay
August 01, 2011
The house is very attractive and well kept. The innkeepers are friendly and helpful. The food is excellent with a wide range of choices. You get to order exactly what want each morning. There is a range of prices for the rooms. We were well satisfied staying in the smallest and least expensive room which had a great ocean view. There is a fair amount of traffic on Route 1 during the day, but it was not heavy at night. It was great to have a public beach only yards from the front door and good restaurants within walking distance. It's nicer staying in this little village than in crowded Camden.
5 out of 5Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
July 31, 2011
What a hidden jewel! We were looking to stay in Camden for the weekend, but found no reasonably priced vacancies. Then we we found Lincolnville! Never heard of it before. The hosts at the Spouter Inn were very accomodating, and the whole place was spotless. My house should be so clean! With the beach right across street, and adjacent restaurants, we enjoyed the whole experience. Would definitely stay again.
1.8 out of 5Unexpectedly Disappointing
July 30, 2011
We stayed at 3 different B&B’s during our trip to Maine, all comparably priced & chosen on the strength of online reviews. The Spouter was the only one that did not live up to its advertising. The photograph on the Spouter’s homepage is misleading. It shows a house directly on the water. The inn is actually located on a busy local highway, set back quite a way from the ocean. The customer service was disappointing. When we arrived, we stood on the porch for several minutes, ringing the bell as the sign directed. Eventually, we had to open the door, walk in, and yell for assistance. We were given no way to contact the innkeepers if we needed anything or had any questions. Our room, the Crow’s Nest, was described on the website as “a unique 3rd-floor room with panoramic ocean & mountain views”. We were surprised to find a room with relatively small windows on three walls--one facing the highway/ocean, the other two facing the side and back yards. The walls of our room were very thin. From the third floor, we could plainly hear the conversations of people standing in the front yard. And the 2nd night of our stay we were woken up at 12:30 by a TV & people talking in the room below. Most disturbing was the lack of security. When we arrived, we weren’t given keys either to the house or to our room. We were informed that the side doors to the inn were always left unlocked. Because our room had no outside lock, when we went into town for the day, we had to leave all of our stuff, including computers, electronics, etc. in an unlocked room. We definitely did not feel comfortable or welcome here. And the price certainly did not match the accommodations. The B&B we stayed at before this was exactly the same price, and the rooms, food, and service were vastly superior. We’re a bit puzzled by all the glowing reviews on BedandBreakfast.com. We should have checked Trip Adviser, which has several reviews mentioning the problems we ran into.

This amazing B&B will exceed your expectations in many ways. From the individually prepared gourmet breakfast to the beautiful property, home and furnishings, to the excellent beachfront location to the gracious attitude of your hosts. You will want to come back every year! I challenge you to find a better place than the Spouter Inn.
