In the heart of Freeport, this charming B&B has all of the comforts of home. The inn has been lovingly restored to preserve the charm of its 1890s history: the hardwood floors are original, the woodwork has been restored to its original form, yet all of the amenities and updates the traveler might want are available. Each room has a private thermostat for heat and individual air conditioning. All rooms have TVs with cable and a built-in DVD player. Enjoy access any time to the DVD library in the common area. Rooms also feature hand-made soaps, shampoo/conditioner, hair dryers, bottled water, and fine towels and linens. The breakfasts are all made from scratch and we use as many local ingredients as possible. Start with locally roasted coffee, our own blend, fresh morning pastry, homemade granola, yogurt and fruit. From there, choose from breakfast options, always featuring a sweet and a savory option. We also accommodate dietary restrictions (vegetarian, gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free). Guests come back time and again, telling us the friendly manner, service, and us as hosts make this a comfortable place to be, just like home! We think that is the best compliment there is. There is so much to do in and around Freeport and it is important to us that our guests make the most of their time while here. We will gladly make suggestions of things to do and see based on your interests, make reservations, etc. It is our pleasure!

The James Place Inn just felt like home. The rooms were clean and well kept and provided everything anyone could ask for in a B&B. The owners were extremely friendly and provided us with a wonderful breakfast and banter back and forth about the great things to do in Freeport. We liked it so much we're booking again for our visit next year.

James Place Inn is the perfect B&B to stay while in Freeport. Tori and Robin make you feel like you are the only guest there. They have a wealth of knowledge about the area and points of interest. The breakfast prepared by Robin is better than any restaurant and a variety of choices are provided to meet everyone's needs. The inn is very clean and has a great location, just walk to town. You won't be disappointed!

We just got back from a wonderful vacation to the Maine area and thoroughly enjoyed our star at James Place! Robyn and Tory made us feel welcome and at home! The accomadations were clean and warm and inviting! We were fed like royalty and really enjoyed meeting new people at breakfast on the porch! Robyn and Tory went above and beyond to help and suggest different restaurants and shopping when we were looking for something specific! We thought this would be our last trip to Maine ,but I can't imagine not going back to this inn!!

We travel to Maine every summer for camp visiting day and have stayed at James Place Inn for the past four or five years. We look forward to our stay each time and are never disappointed. Robin and Tori are warm and welcoming and have thought of every detail to make our stay easy and comfortable. The Inn is a few blocks from the action in Freeport, close enough to walk but also quiet and peaceful so we can feel relaxed. Breakfast is a highlight and we love eating outside on the deck. There are always fresh baked cookies or treats laid out, which are welcome at the end of a long day. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Cant say enough good things about Robin, Tori and the James Place Inn.

After reading many reviews on B & Bs, our decision was made to stay here based off reviews about the family that runs this inn. Tori and Robin gave us a warm welcome and definitely made us feel at home. It takes alot of work and preparation to make an inn run well, yet the processes here are seamless. The InnKeepers are able to take care of all their guests needs and still have time to converse with everyone. Both Innkeepers are knowledgeable of the area, taking time to listen to what their guests like to do before offering suggestions. The rooms are very clean (a must) and each seem to have their own vibe. My family had two rooms that were next to each other and were situated in the back of the B &B. The green room was my favorite. Our rooms were nicely decorated and had all the amenities we needed for our stay. Tori and Robin did check on the room daily supplying whatever we needed. The breakfasts were well planned and the menus are adapted to vegan, gluten free, among other requests. My husband is a meat and potato type and my daughter is a foodie. They each really liked the breakfast offerings each morning. Their James Place Inn coffee blend was just what was needed to start the day. There is a small nook containing books about the area, utensils, glasses for wine and beer in the hallway just outside the sunroom. They have an ice machine, a small refrigerator along with hot water for tea throughout the day in the sunroom where breakfasts are served. Tori and Robin are very generous with with their time and find ways to go out of their way to make your stay relaxing. This was my husband's first B & B and was wary at first until he met Robin and Tori. Often we do not go back to the same place, but this Inn is a must on our list because of the family that runs the Inn. A very calming environment, great place to walk since the inn is located near the main stores and restaurants.

My wife and I escaped to Freeport before baby #2 arrives and we had a wonderful time. From the warm greeting, to the wonderful breakfasts and the exceptional service of recommending and making our dinner reservations, I'd highly recommend the James Place Inn. I'm sure we'll be back!

I have been staying at the James Place Inn at least once a year for the past five years. It is the best place to stay in the area. Located just a block from the main shopping area of Freeport, Inn is on a quiet side street. As such, you can easily walk to all the shops and restaurants in down town Freeport, but still get a great night's sleep. It has easy access to I-295 and is only about 20 minutes from downtown Portland. The house is beautiful, with Adirondack chairs, a hammock and a nice deck for just relaxing outside and reading a book. Rooms are tastefully decorated, have great beds, and many have whirlpool style tubs. My favorite rooms are the Rose room (if traveling alone) and the Green room (if traveling with someone special). I frequently stay here after long bike rides (such as this past weekend's Trek Across Maine) and the Rose room downright has the best soaking tub I have ever been in. The green room's bright airy feel and view of the yard are its highlights. Speaking of breakfast the food is amazing. For starters every day there is yogurt, homemade granola, and cut fruit. In addition, there is a new baked item every day. My personal favorite are the raspberry scones. Then there is a selection of hot foods every day. This usually includes a frittata or two, pancakes or waffles, quiche, and some kind of breakfast meat. Occasionally, you will also be treated to Robyn's homemade baked beans. When you return from your day out fresh baked cookies and tea will be waiting for you in the sun room. You will not be hungry. But the best part of the James Place Inn are the family who run it. Robyn, Tori and their daughter Elyse, are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. They are very personable and really try to make sure everyone of their guests has the best experience possible. They are very knowledgeable on things to do in the area. I always look forward to my trips north and am already thinking of my next trip to the James Place Inn.

Enjoyed an off season stay for our baby-moon. Robin, the Inn keeper, is fantastically hospitable and an amazing cook. We really enjoyed our room and the cozy fire. Walkability to town was so close that we even ventured out on a very cold and blustery day. Definitely plan to return as soon as we can get another getaway!

After a nearly 5 hr drive in a snowstorm, we were warmly welcomed by Robin - who guided us painlessly through the check-in and brought us to our choice for the next 2 nights: the Pine Room! A good sized guest room, queen bed and rollaway for our grown daughter, and the much appreciated fireplace (stocked and match ready as advertised!) The bathroom was a bit tight - something that is being addressed right now, as we were told of the renovations being made upon our departure! Breakfasts were awesome! Over the 2 days we were treated to homemade cookies (available upon arrival and throughout the day), an incredible coffee blend (specific to the Inn itself, you HAVE to buy some to bring home - so delicious); baked goods of scones and a coffee cake to knock your socks off (I need that recipe); a quiche filled with leeks and bacon; frittatas....cheese and meats and veggies (yum)....blueberry pancakes, and the BEST homemade cinnamon french toast ever!! there was homemade granola, yogurt and fresh fruit!! sorry if i missed anything - it was all delicious! Torey and Robin could not do enough to make our stay the BEST - our daughter was a bit under the weather the first night- they were more than gracious in helping us through that and we cannot thank them enough!! Definitely a "2 thumbs up".... we will be returning! Thank you so much for an outstanding weekend....Gene,Sharon and Sarah Leahy - Cape Cod MA

We recently returned from a trip to New England and the James Place Inn was an amazing place to stay! We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this charming, clean and very well-kept bed and breakfast. The hosts, Robin and Tori, were outstanding. They were helpful, friendly, thoughtful and cooked a delicious, full breakfast. We loved Tori's homemade granola too! We lodged in the yellow room and found it to be delightful - we especially loved the two-person jacuzzi! Would definitely recommend this B&B!
The Green Room is a delightful oasis from the hustle and bustle of shopping and sight-seeing. Skylights fill the room with soft light, a two-person Jacuzzi tub will sooth those tired feet. Enjoy a good book or watch a favorite DVD on the flat-screen TV. Or just listen to music on the in-room stereo.

The Yellow room will remind you of a sunny day. Cheery yellow greets you while a large Jacuzzi tub soothes you. Skylights add to the brightness of this room. Stay several nights and enjoy it all!

The Blue room will remind you of a Maine cottage. Delightfully appointed in blue and white, this room is a great room for families and "Girlfriend Getaways." The loveseat pulls out into a bed, so the room can accommodate four people and all of the purchases along the way!

The Taupe room features a beautiful four-poster bed. Comfortable and charming, while away some time in the rocking chair or just stare out the window at the delightful window box. Staying a few days? The Rose Room evokes images of the traditionally appointed Victorian-style era. Enjoy the four-poster queen size bed and the claw foot Jacuzzi tub. We both used to do a great deal of travel for business, so we know what our guests are looking for in a property; the attention is in the details. It is our pleasure to pamper and care for our guests and enjoy the slower pace of our lives as innkeepers. We are also able to spend more time with our daughter! The best part about our job as innkeepers is all of the amazing and interesting people we meet, from all over the world. We look forward to meeting you as well.
