The Captain Swift Inn was a nice find for our Maine getaway. I chose it for the reasonable price - hard to find in Camden. I was pleasantly surprised. We were met by the cheerful owner and shown to our room - which he had upgraded for us without our asking. The room was on the quiet side of the inn (The Bay Breeze room) and was larger than the one I had chosen. The bathroom was bright and spacious. My only complaint with it was the clawfoot tub - they are charming but don't really work all that well for showering! The breakfasts at the Inn are fabulous. Simple fare, but plenty of it and presented with flair. The owners are available and friendly. We enjoyed meeting them and talking with them each morning. Their son was helpful and even carried our bags upstairs for us! The location is quite convenient to the main drag, but not too close either. I would recommend it to anyone travelling to the area.

We enjoyed an entire week at the Captain Swift Inn with our teenaged daughter. The suites are ideal for this as the kids have their own space in the loft with TV/DVD, couches, a table and refrigerator. Rooms are quiet, beautifully decorated, spacious and impeccably clean. The breakfast was often our best meal of the day, with a different menu every day. There is a well-stocked library and DVD collection, a computer in the reading room, and free high speed WIFI. The location is ideal - only two or three blocks from the center of town and the harbor. But the best thing about Captain Swift Inn are the innkeepers Norm, Linda and Alex. They were like friends, asking us about our plans for the day, providing guidebooks and suggestions for things to do, and even offering to make arrangements or reservations. We could not have asked for a more relaxing and enjoyable vacation. We will definitely be back!

My father is disabled and has trouble going up stairs, so we specifically chose this inn because their "Hannah's room" was on the 1st floor (an unusual feature in a historic inn). It was really perfect for him, especially the handicapped-accessible ensuite bath. Linda and Norm were wonderful as well... very solicitous and accommodating. We couldn't have been happier! One note for late risers or light sleepers, though: the only down side of being on the 1st floor is that the room is next to the common areas, so you will hear other guests, particularly at breakfast-time. But overall, it was wonderful and we would definitely stay there again.
