lovely getaway weekend

4.6 on December 13, 2014

Lovely accommodations; gorgeous property; wonderful breakfast; stayed in the "L" suite, very roomy and relaxing.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for this amazing review. The L Suite is always a guest favorite! Please stay with us again soon for the same great service and luxury!

Relaxing stay

5 on December 12, 2014

We just stayed for one night, but we had a really nice time and really enjoyed the beautiful room. Everything was very clean and up to date. We didn't eat the meals there, but the breakfast spread looked very appetizing.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for this review. We hope you can join us for breakfast during your next stay. We appreciate your kind words, and we look forward to your return.

Great place, needs some work on minor details

4.0 on November 12, 2014

We went for an anniversary getaway. The family that runs this is still running strong a couple of decades after it was built, but the place needs some upkeep. Our room needed spackle and paint in a few places, and there was a picture missing from one wall (hooks there, picture missing). The TV should have been mounted or at least the wires should have been hidden. Overall it's looking a little run down. A fairly small investment in spiffing it up would derive significant benefits. I was surprised by how tight the room was, tho. I should have read the description better - cozy is right! That said, we pretty much spent the whole day lounging in bed, so it didn't really matter. Would have been nice if there were a way to bring a hot breakfast up to our room. The walls are a little thinner than I'd like (though listening our very vocal neighbor was quite titillating, and we learned that the restaurant we had planned to attend had no reservations available - saved us a call!). All in all a nice place and convenient location but not a place we loved so much we want to return to it again.

Innkeeper Response
hank you for your review. You said it best, our super comfy Tempurpedic mattresses are comfortable enough to lounge in bed all day. This is truly a highlight for all our guests. Please note that your room was newly renovated, and we have just discovered that the contractor left the insulating wallboard out, among a few other things. We truly appreciate the feedback, and with the help of our new contractor we will be correcting the wall and replacing the artwork as soon as the room becomes vacant. We would like to invite you back to try one of our more luxurious, larger rooms, since you were in the smallest room. Most rooms are considerably larger- and several are nearly 1,000 square feet. We also invite you to breakfast in bed for your next stay, an amenity that we do offer and we truly apologize for not receiving your request. Again, thank you for your review and feedback. We look forward to your return soon.

GREAT stay

4.2 on October 29, 2014

This inn is BEAUTIFUL upon driving up. Walking in, we were immediately greeted, checked in, given our keys and had a tour of the common areas. The receptionist then walked us to our room and gave us all of the information we needed. She was very informative and friendly. The room was great. We stayed in the R suite. You walk into a small kitchenette with a tall breakfast table. Great for more extended stays. Then, the room itself seemed a little small, but this may have just been because of the king-sized bed. (Which was also AMAZING.) I wish the decorations had more a personal touch, it just seemed mish-moshed and felt a little more like a hotel than an inn. Then we went into the bathroom. This was HUGE! VERY tall ceilings, very well decorated. The jacuzzi tub was amazing. The bathroom was surprising and it definitely MADE the room. (Just wish the rest of it was as nice/well put-together.) We wound up going into Baltimore for a bit. This was also a great location - it only took about 30 min to get into the city. Good to be away from it, but still close enough. On the way out, we stopped by the snack table - which was well stocked with vegetables, dips, and cookies. As well as the coffee/tea bar, which had plenty of choices. This was a nice touch. The sleep on this king bed was great. Onto the food: The chef was very warm and welcoming. She immediately took our orders (from a surprisingly sizable menu). There was also a counter with pastries, fruits, yogurt, coffee, etc. So we grabbed a few little things while waiting - which also took no time at all. And the food was GREAT. When we checked out, we had a different receptionist who was also very friendly. She asked about our stay and welcomed us to please come back. We certainly will! Overall, this was an AMAZING stay at a GREAT inn. It was certainly worth all its value! Thank you so much for this experience!

Staycation

4.4 on October 20, 2014

Wonderful B&B and this was my second visit. Even with the renovations not being completed in my suite, my stay was worth it. Thank you Sabrina and all other staff for making this stay extra great. Will be back soon for a more luxurious suite.

Innkeeper Response
We truly appreciate your kind words. We cannot wait for you to return and see our amazing renovation complete. Sabrina is a true asset to our team, and I will be sure to share this with her and the entire staff.

Great find!

4.4 on October 15, 2014

Discovered this B&B "around the corner" from my sister's place. The staff is exceptionally helpful and courteous, and my room - which was one of their small ones - was spacious and well-equipped. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. Lovely common areas indoors and out. Breakfast offerings are generous - my only comment is that I would have preferred more health-conscious options (yogurt without added sugar, whole grain breads, etc.)

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay! We truly appreciate your beautiful review. We will definitely look into providing more healthy options for our daily breakfast. We hope you will stay with us again soon.

Great staff, beautiful building. great retreat from DC

3.6 on October 04, 2014

Stayed 2 nights while visiting Grandaughter at GW university in DC. Room was clean staff and cook were GREAT. Room could be much better with a little maintenance. ( staff informed us that a maintenance person had just been hired to address these problems)

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind words. Yes, our new engineer is now on the job and working hard to maintain our beautiful home. We can assure you that your next visit will be perfect. We hope to see you again soon.

Our home away from home

4.6 on September 29, 2014

This was the perfect place for my wife and I to enjoy our week vacation. Columbia is 30 minutes from Baltimore which is close enough to enjoy the sites but far enough away to escape the high living costs. We stayed here during the week (Monday-Thursday) and found our suite to be very affordable and very comfortable (tempur-pedic beds!). The made to order breakfast was the butter cream frosting on the cake. Truly an "over and above" service that we will definitely take advantage again. Highly recommended. I also wanted to note that it rained Thursday so we decided to stay in and read in the library... cabin fever? heck no! Thank you David and Cynthia for a wonderful stay.

Innkeeper Response
You and your wife were truly wonderful guests! Thank you for this beautiful review. We look forward to your return and providing you with the same amazing service.

Very pleasant stay

Enjoyed our stay. We arrived early and they checked us right in. Staff were all very nice and friendly. We were in L Suite and the sitting area and sleeping area were very nice. The bed was very comfortable.

Innkeeper Response
We truly adore the L Suite as well! And we loved having you as a guest. Please stay with us again soon for the same amazing service.

A small hotel with grand pretensions

2.8 on September 09, 2014

We've given it 3 stars (ie - met our expectations) because in general it was actually pretty much what we expected, but that's because we didn't really believe all the hype with which it surrounds itself. What it is, is a decent small hotel and a pleasant enough place to spend the night. Unfortunately it does not live up to it's somewhat more grandiose pretensions. As to those, if you consider helping yourself to tepid cheap boxed wine and tucking into the same few dips and chips that were on the table the night before, to be an elevating experience then you'll be impressed by the evening free wine & cheese on offer. Equally, if you consider that a rubbery, hard yellow mass constitutes a gourmet version of scrambled eggs and don't you don't mind waiting half an hour to eat it amongst the crumbs left by a previous guest you'll be equally happy. In summary then, our advice would be, take the Bed, which is fine and comfy. Grab a bottle of wine and some nibbles in the supermarket and have your own midnight feast in the room. Then skip the "Gourmet Breakfast", and head out and find a diner that knows how to serve a decent, honest breakfast of the non gourmet variety.

Wonderful B&B

4.4 on September 08, 2014

This was our 3rd stay at the Columbia Inn. As always the staff were friendly and accommodating. The beds there are the most comfortable I have ever slept in.

Innkeeper Response
We truly appreciate your kind words. We agree, our beds are simply wonderful and provide an amazing night of sleep. We look forward to having you as our guest again soon!

Beautiful property and great people. I would definitely return.

5 on September 04, 2014

This property in Columbia is close to the city, but feels like you are miles away. I really enjoyed the Z suite with the patio out front and the spacious room. Breakfast was great and the staff was outstanding.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind words. I will be sure to share this with the entire staff. Please stay with us again soon!

First Visit - Exceptional Room, Excellent Staff, Beautiful Environment!

5 on September 02, 2014

My visit this past weekend to The Columbia Inn far exceeded my expectations! My room was amazing. I was pleasantly surprised that my room had a glassed in steam room in the spa shower. This was not in the description of the room and I loved it. I went from the Jacuzzi tub with jets to the steam room and spa shower with ease and all my stress and tension just melted away. I will be returning in 2 weeks for another stay as for the price and the amenities, there is nothing like it in a 3 state radios. Amazing!!!

Innkeeper Response
We truly appreciate your kind words. We are very excited for your return, and we look forward to providing you with the same amazing service!

Recommend the "L" suite.

3.2 on August 23, 2014

Celebrated our anniversary at the Peralynna Manor. Had a wonderful time. Highly recommend the L Suite. Would revisit in the future.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for choosing the Peralynna for your stay! We are delighted that you would return and recommend us to others.

weekend getaway

3.4 on August 17, 2014

My boyfriend and I stayed at Peralynna Manor for our anniversary. The room was beautiful, however there were cob webs on the ceiling. There were some cracks in the walls were I feel they may want to do some renovating and paint to make it look nicer. All staff we encountered was friendly and helpful regarding places to eat in the area. The campaign was nasty but the wine bar served from 4 pm to 10 pm was great. They also had snacks from 4 pm to 10 pm. The cake was delicious. The breakfast they provide is amazing! So many options to choose from and they cook it by order. Overall our experience was wonderful and we would definitely come here again.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We were pleased to share in the joy of your anniversary, and we hope you will celebrate many more with us. We have done a thorough inspection of all our suites and can ensure you and all our future guests there are no more cobwebs. Our staff has recently experienced a few set backs that is of no fault to our guests. We are working diligently to maintain our high level of guest service and satisfaction. We hope to see you again soon for another wonderful getaway.

Perfect for the weekend getaway

5 on August 06, 2014

My girlfriend and I stayed here on a whim one weekend because we have never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before and have wanted to for a while. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the place was just beautiful. The breakfast was to die for, it was soooo good. ]

Innkeeper Response
We sincerely thank you for this wonderful review. We are so pleased to be your first experience at a bed and breakfast! We look forward to providing you with the same great experience when you return.

Fantastic B&B

5 on July 16, 2014

My wife and I had never been to a B&B before, so I booked a weekend stay here for our anniversary. Not knowing what to expect, I was surprised at the massive amount of space here! We had a 2nd floor room overlooking the main entrance and what was reported to be a sheep farm across the street. We didn't see any sheep during our time here, but that didn't lessen our experience at all. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The entire staff was courteous and friendly with David Lynn seeming to be a Jack of All Trades. He checked us in, provided the tour of the facility, was the head chef for breakfast, and so much more. He's got a fantastic sense of humor, too! I highly recommend this B&B to any out of town guests looking for a place to stay as well as locals looking for a special quiet and relaxing place to get away. The price is comparable to most of the high end hotels in the area so it's a great value. We'll definitely be returning in the future!

Innkeeper Response
We are so thrilled to read this review! We loved having you as our guest, and we are so happy we could make your anniversary so memorable. David truly makes our bed and breakfast unique with his hard work and dedication. Thank you so much for this wonderful review. We look forward to your return.

Excellent. We will definitely return

Charming, rejuvinating mid-week getaway

4.2 on July 10, 2014

Local Marylanders (Ellicott City and Rockville), decided to check it out as we needed a getaway mid-week! Could not have been more delighted by the incredible, truly unique Bed & Breakfast atmosphere, size of the place, to the staff and owner. Cohesive family like team who all prioritize guests with true, genuine customer service and comfortably because you instantly feel like they're family & can't wait to return!

Innkeeper Response
We loved having you as our guest, and we are thrilled to know you were delighted with your stay. Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We look forward to your return.

CSG retreat

2.6 on July 04, 2014

The air conditioning does not work very well in the rooms and is very loud. Breakfast orders took a very long time to be cooked. The house was perfect for our retreat and they did make us fell very welcomed.

Innkeeper Response
We sincerely apologize for the AC not working properly during your stay. We have corrected the issue and the unit is working efficiently now. We hope that you will join us again to prove our award winning service to you.

lovely!

4.6 on July 03, 2014

I recently stayed here in one of the smaller rooms which was avoidable itself, the AC was not working properly, they immediately upgraded me to a bigger room that the AC was working and everything was fabulous, good environment....Will definitely be back again!

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your review. We have corrected the issue we had the the AC and we assure you and all our guests this is no longer an issue. We look forward to your return as we truly appreciated having you as our guest.

The best B&B we've ever stayed at.

5 on June 26, 2014

The Inn is even more gorgeous than it appears in pictures. The full time staff is so welcoming and friendly. Our room was beautiful and larger than it appeared in photos (v). The only thing we regret is only staying one night. We highly recommend this lovely B&B!

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your beautiful review! We truly loved having you as our guest. We hope that you will return again soon and stay with us longer.

A+ Service

4.6 on June 25, 2014

We stayed here our wedding night, June 21, 2014. The room was slightly less glamorous than the pictures, but the service was top notch. The cute, older gentleman who greeted us when we came (for a late check-in) offered us dinnerware to eat leftovers from our wedding reception, took us on a mini tour of the common dining area, and was very friendly. The room was very clean and the bed was comfy. The breakfast was absolutely delicious like a nice home cooked meal. Checkout was quick and easy. We would like to stay again. - Taylor & Keith

Innkeeper Response
Taylor & Keith - We truly loved having you as our guests, and we are thrilled that you choose our bed and breakfast for your wedding. We hope that you will return soon for the same great service! Enjoy married life, you two deserve all the happiness in the world.

Pleasant Stay, I Will Be Back!

4.2 on June 23, 2014

This was my 20th year going to the Capital Jazz festival but my first year staying at The Columbia Inn. I will be back at the Jazz Fest next year and now know exactly where to stay, The Columbia Inn. I wish I knew it existed years ago! My room was on the third floor but very charming. The dual head shower was just what I needed to relax after a long day outdoors. Breakfast was yummy, the folks friendly. All Good!

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for this wonderful review! Guests always love the Capital Jazz Festival, and we can't wait for your return next year for this special event.

We were well cared for

4.2 on June 08, 2014

We very much enjoyed our stay on a Monday night. The evening refreshments were very generous and enjoyable, and our made to order breakfast in the morning was excellent. All the staff members were very attentive and took a very personal interest in our comfort. We borrowed a movie from the game room (excellent collection) and watched it from our very comfortable bed. We would definitely visit again!

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your beautiful review. We truly enjoyed having you as our guest, and we look forward to your return. We will be sure to share this review with all our staff.

Janet and Mark

3.4 on June 04, 2014

We enjoyed the in room hot tub and the steam room. We really truly had an awesome stay and loved the privacy. The only thing that was a bit of a disappointment was that, the price of the room was quite high. Although we understand that the cost of the room comes with quality, when booking this room we were under the impression that we would have two balconies. We were informed that the building was under construction so we were not really able to utilize the balconies at all. I would say this would not deter us from coming back to this bed and breakfast again because it was very lovely and the staff was wonderful, we just would have liked to have gotten everything we paid for.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your review. We are truly sorry that you were unable to use the decks during your stay. This was strictly out of safety for our guests. We really hope you will stay with us again soon to enjoy all the amazing features we have to offer including the decks.

Great getaway

4.8 on May 28, 2014

Great expirence. House is unique and cozy. Great breakfast. Owners are friendly. Construction is being done on decks from storm damage which was disappointing but understandable. Would go back and would recommend. Close to savage mills for a nice day trip.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your review. We are doing our best to complete all work on our decks soon. We want to provide all our guests with the best possible experience. We hope that you will stay with us again soon.

A Night was Not Enough!

5 on April 30, 2014

My husband and I have four children, and a night away is a rare luxury. We decided we wanted to spend time together relaxing, rather than driving, when celebrating our wedding anniversary. The Columbia Inn at Peralynna was a perfect fit! Small enough to be cozy, yet expansive enough to not feel like we were invading someone else's territory. Nice amenities, although I wouldn't have minded some bubbles for the jacuzzi. Dave took us on a tour to teach us the house rules for our stay, and to give us some history of the house. Then it was off to our room to relax and do anything or nothing, whatever. Breakfast was to order off an expansive menu. There were so many great things about our time here that my title says it all...a night was not enough! We are saving up to go back...and wooing potential babysitters now. Go here. Stay here. You will not regret it.

Innkeeper Response
Thank for you such an amazing review. We truly appreciate your kind words, and we are thrilled to know you had such a wonderful night away. We look forward to providing you with another amazing night away.

Outstanding Stay At Peralynna

4.8 on March 31, 2014

The C Suite reminded us of a castle room we stayed at in England: old world look, yet new with modern conveniences. Huge room, suite area, bedroom, bathroom, and dressing room were all outstanding. Although the price was a bit more than we hoped for, it was an outstanding experience and we would definitely return.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for such a kind review. We take great pride in the beauty of our home and we truly love to host guests like you. We look forward to your return.

Excellent place to stay!

Friendly Staff

3.2 on February 21, 2014

I was not sure exactly what was to be expected, but pretty much everything was as expected. Based on the pictures I would have not thought the decor would have been what it was, however I found the room to be clean and comfortable. The robes were a nice touch. Complimentary wine was nice, however with four choices I would have expected at least one red wine option. The staff was very friendly, and I would not hesitate to recommend this B&B to someone, however I wish I could have enjoyed the landscape during warmer months, as I'm sure this adds another level of appeal. Lastly, the evening snacks were much appreciated, as well as the always-available soft drinks.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We truly value your opinion. Our wine options change frequently, and next time you can check with a staff member to see if your preference is available. We do hope that you will join us in the spring or summer as our landscaping is simply beautiful. Again, thank you for your review, and we hope to see you again soon.

Quick romantic getaway

4.2 on February 13, 2014

Enjoyed this little hidden gem close to home. Fireplace in the room was a wonderful addition. The room was fairly quiet... heard people cleaning up in the kitchen (our room was above) around 10:30 or 11:00 pm. The breakfast was lovely and covered all our needs.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind review. We will be sure to take into consideration the kitchen noise, especially at those hours. We hope that you will join us again soon for another night away.

Overall a very nice stay

3.6 on February 10, 2014

We stayed in the D suite this past weekend - it was an early birthday gift for my husband and our first night away as a couple since my daughter was born almost three years ago. The staff was very welcoming and very flexible with scheduling (we almost had to cancel last minute), which we greatly appreciated. And, the breakfast was delicious. Our only complaint was the thickness of the walls, which we discovered when the individuals in the neighboring suite woke us up repeatedly throughout the night. They weren't being overly loud but we could hear their radio and pretty much everything they were saying. Disappointing, especially since I had specifically called beforehand and asked about the noise level since the two rooms had an adjoing door. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the inn but would likely select a different room next time.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for taking the time to post this review. We truly enjoyed having you as our guest. We sincerely apologize your stay was not perfect, and we can assure you the insulation has been repaired in the walls to block out noise. This was our oversight and we are very sorry. We love for our guests to have a perfect nights sleep! We hope to see you and your husband again soon.

Excellent Location

4.6 on January 20, 2014

I used the Master Presidental Suite for a girls night and photos. The room was beautiful and more than I expected. The location is nice and quiet and the staff members are extremely friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. While I had to leave before breakfast, I plan to utilize the location again and stay for breakfast. I highly recommend The Columbia Inn at Peralynna Manor.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for such a kind review. We loved having you all as our guests for such a fun night away. We welcome all of you back anytime.

We visited for an anniversary getaway and the experience was exceptional. The staff were very warm and made our evening special. We will return.

A very memorable Thanksgiving

5 on December 03, 2013

We recently stayed over Thanksgiving holiday with a newly blended family getting to know each other who all flew into BWI. We were looking for a comfortable atmosphere that felt like home, without the work, that would allow for quality time. With 2 adults and 4 teens, we stayed in the O, J, and V. Everything was perfect! Kids and adults loved the mattresses and we all had restorative sleep and felt fantastic each of the 5 mornings. Guests feel comfortable to be casual for breakfast, this Inn promotes a very non- judgmental vibe which we all enjoyed. The Inn seems to let guests be as formal or relaxed as they choose and it is all good. Staff and other guests are friendly but not intrusive. The kids loved the game room, library, Wii, movies, and snacks, and had the kind of fun that is often frowned upon in stuffy B&B's. There is plenty of rooms for adults and kids to have their own space. This place appears to uniquely cater to couples seeking romance as well as families. We especially thank the wonderful cook for her patience and flexibility and the Innkeeper for all of the special and thoughtful touches. We found a great local place(Waredaca Farm) to go on a horseback trail ride that accommodated 8 of us that was a fantastic group activity. There was some confusion with our B&B reservation that apparently happened by a former employee that is no longer there, but the service recovery at check in made all the problems go away.We will definitely be back soon! This Inn exceeded our expectations and with breakfast, snacks,24/7 beverage, fridge and microwave in the room(unusual in a B&B), is an excellent value.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We truly loved having you and your family as our guests for the holiday weekend. We are so glad your found everything comfortable and enjoyable! We look forward to your return!

Beginning our Honeymoon

4.6 on November 13, 2013

We were upgraded from a room to a suite when we arrived because they found out we were on our honeymoon. We were given a complimentary bottle of champagne and chocolate, as well as rose petals scattered around the suite. The service doesn't get any better than this place. The owner even prepared some food for us when we arrived without cost.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind words. We hope you had a very romantic honeymoon! We look forward to seeing you for anniversary visits! All the best to you and your spouse!

Luxurious B&B

5 on November 11, 2013

We stayed in the C Suite for a little honeymoon getaway. We walked in the room and there were rose petals on the bed and floor leading to the jacuzzi which also had rose petals around it. The suite was huge, and had the most comfortable king size tempurpedic mattress. The whole place was absolutely gorgeous. The only downfall was that the balconies were closed off due to storm damage.

Great place, great price.

4.4 on November 10, 2013

The Columbia Inn at Peralynna Manor is not only gorgeous and affordable, but also located in the best county in Maryland. Our two night stay did not seem nearly long enough and we were very sad to leave. There is much to do in this area, and it's only a short car ride away from Baltimore. The service was fabulous, the rooms were very clean, and the price was the best part. If you are looking for a romantic getaway, The Columbia Inna at Peralynna Manor is the perfect place.

Innkeeper Response
We truly appreciate you sharing your experience! We loved having you as our guest, and we look forward to your return. Thank you again for such a wonderful review.

Beautiful B&B in lovely setting

4.0 on November 06, 2013

We just stayed there one night for my birthday, using a B&B gift certificate. The building is absolutely beautiful inside and out, as was the view from our suite on the 3rd floor. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, despite some confusion with my reservation, which I had made online. I was also told twice on the phone that our suite had a large soaking tub that was being converted to a 2-person Jacuzzi prior to our stay, so although the suite itself was amazing, we were disappointed to learn that we had been given wrong info, and we had to settle for the tub. Bathrobes would have been a nice touch, and we could have used a waste basket in the kitchenette area. It was nice having a full-size frig, but it was very loud. I kept adjusting the temp to make it shut off during the night. Robert made us delicious stuffed French toast in the morning. We would definitely stay here again, but in a 2-person Jacuzzi room. Note: nearby is Centennial Park which has a lovely lake with a walking/running path 2.5 miles around it.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We apologize for the confusion regarding the bath tub. The L Suite is amazing, but the bath tub does not feature jets; it is a two-person soaking tub. We will be sure to look into the issue you had with the refrigerator. We are pleased to hear your breakfast was delicious. We hope that you will stay with us again soon.

Fantastic Experience

Excellent service. Great people. They went above and beyond to make sure out stay was a good time. Would definitely go back.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for sharing your kind words. Your beautiful review motivates our staff to continue to provide amazing service to each and every guest. We look forward to your return!

Overall a wonderful stay.

4.0 on October 13, 2013

Overall it was an amazing experience. Will definitely be back. There were a lot of renovations going on. Which we were fine with, it's off season. Totally understandable. The breakfast was ok. We had it each morning because it was included. I don't think we would have paid extra for it. The service was amazing. Every need or want was quickly helped.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind review. We hope that you will stay with us again soon as our renovation is now complete. We would love for you to see our beautifully updated suites. I will be sure to share your review with the staff as we all take great pride in our hard work.

Truly felt at home

4.8 on October 08, 2013

Robert (the maitre d', concierge, host, he basically did everything) made our stay pleasant and comfortable. The room was very clean but felt like a home. Breakfast was good and the grounds are very nice as well. All things considered, did exactly what a b&b is supposed to do: provide a comfortable stay with a warm atmosphere where a couple can relax for a few days.

Beautiful home

3.2 on September 09, 2013

We stayed 2 nights in the K suite. While this is a beautiful home, the finishes and furnishings are strange. You would think such a home would be upscale, but they obviously prioritized size over style. First of all, the walls are stark builder grade white, giving it much more of a sterile and commercial look/feel than I was hoping for. The faucets, door pulls, etc are also all builder grade, kitchen counters are laminate, tubs are plastic, floors needed refinishing, etc. The common areas are crammed with furniture and photos without thought for visual appeal. I think they are trying to make a newer (20 years old) home look older, but they totally missed the mark. I know that may sound picky, but when you stay in a home of this size for this price, you expect a much more upscale feel. On the positive side, the innkeeper (didn't catch his name) was wonderful and attentive and gave us several excellent area recommendations. The food was very good as well.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for taking the time to share your review of our Inn. You may enjoy our new look that is underway, complete with our signature Tiffany blue bathroom ceilings and 5 additional double Jacuzzi tubs, bringing the total jetted tubs to 14, and the new cherry finish that is being applied to our hardwood floors. We are a little concerned that your recollection of our Inn doesn't actually match our suites. Our guest suites feature top of the line Kohler tubs, (which are fiberglass), Anderson French doors and windows, with brass levered handles, architectural doors with a renaissance arch with brass levered handles, marble sink tops and granite countertops on our coffee bars. Our K-Suite is by far a guest favorite -even though it is not the largest. It features a 2 story turret ceiling and an Anderson French door overlooking the private balcony with a south easterly setting and view of the gardens. The top of the line Tempurpedic mattress and down comforter is provided for a luxurious night of sleep. We are unaware of any cluster of photographs anywhere - most art work is original, including the oil painting in your suite. We do have a large display wall of awards and plaques that we have earned in the foyer which you may have been referring to. We listen carefully to everything our guests have to say, pro or con, as our mission is to "exceed our guests expectations". We love what we do and are always looking for ways to improve our guest's stay with us. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope that you will be our guest again soon to experience

My husband and I have stayed at The Inn at Peralynna on three different occasions. The mansion is breathtaking! The rooms are spacious, including amazing bathrooms and temperpedic mattresses. The staff is exceptional. They are extere,y fried.y, helpful and Welcoming. Breakfast is cooked to order, all homemade food- quite delicious! The mansion is homey, private and relaxing. Most rooms have outside balconies! We absolutely love this Inn and would recommend all to experience this facility.

Fabulous B&B

Gem tucked away in Maryland

5 on July 13, 2013

The inn itself is a little jewel inside, appointed with beautiful pictures, tapestries and eclectic pieces from travels all over the world. Each room/suite is elegantly appointed, yet each has its own distinct personality. We stayed on the third floor during a VERY muggy and hot week, as I wanted the room with the “Romeo and Juliet” balcony in the front on the top of the inn, and I was concerned the heat might be brutal up there. Ironically, immediately upon our arrival, the first thing the innkeeper, Cynthia, said to us was that she was concerned we might feel too warm up there, and explained that she had made sure the air conditioning was fully running and had provided a fan as well, just in case. She needn’t have worried – as soon as we walked into the suite, my friend and I looked at each other and smiled...the suite, including the temperature, was perfect. Our suite was the “L Suite”, which was more spacious than the pictures were able to indicate on the website. The soaking bath was very clean, the robes were fresh and comfy, the bed was extremely comfortable, and we loved being a bit removed by being on the third floor. I also loved having a full ‘fridge, dishwasher and coffee amenities available in my room. Another cool feature is the wall in the living area with the couch and tv is a wall of windows onto the great room below. I kid you not, we woke to the smell of bacon cooking…which I love, but don’t worry - as soon as we returned to our room after breakfast, there was no “stale” bacon smell lingering! The main room where breakfast is served is very light and airy, and the breakfast is plentiful – including fresh lemon poppyseed muffins. We didn’t need to eat until teatime, when beverages, cheese, crackers, fresh-baked cookies and, on one day, even chocolate torte was available. One thing I do want to note is that the most expensive rooms are absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The bathrooms are amazing, and the suites themselves are simply luxurious feeling.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you so very much for such an amazing review of our home. We hope every guest that stays with us feels the same way you do. Please stay with us again soon!

The Columbia Inn

5 on June 13, 2013

We arrived at the Inn on our anniversary with a huge storm outside and a flood warning on all the stations. Immediately Kelly made us feel at home and Isaac was so delightful to talk with. We stayed in the A Room which makes you feel like you are back in the gilded renaissance. Love, love, love this room. The shower, jacuzzi and overall amenities are fantastic. The pastries are homemade, so yummy. Connie made the best bread. We love their inn, great treasure.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for such beautiful review! A "treasure" is the perfect way to describe our home. We look forward to your return to Peralynna soon!

Great Stay, some details not posted

4.6 on May 28, 2013

I recently stayed in the "v" suite here, and while the room was lovely one major detail is left out in the description. There is a second bathroom, which is shared with guests that are using a common area on the second floor. It was a little odd and I’m not sure why there is a door into the room, but every time someone used the bathroom I was able to hear every little detail and that was a little upsetting. That being said the Inn was a perfect get away and the area is beautiful. We will be coming back, but in a different room.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your review. We didn't realize the problem before, but we thank them for letting us know and have since locked off the hallway access to the public for that second bathroom to ensure total privacy for our lovely guests. We wish we had known it when you were here so that we could have addressed it immediately for you. Please accept our apologies.

A Terrific Stay!!

4.4 on April 30, 2013

Two of my close friends and I stayed at the Inn for a Girls' Weekend and had such an incredible stay. When we arrived on Friday night, we were greeted by David & Cynthia and ended up talking to them for a while. We felt like we were relaxing in our own house and the owners and staff were so friendly and welcoming. I have stayed at several B & B's all over the country and I've got to say this is one of my favorites. The Inn is beautiful, the food is delicious and the hospitality is above and beyond. We are looking to make this an annual stay for our Girls' Weekend. Thank you David, Cynthia and the entire staff. We'll definitely be back :)

Second Wonderful Christmas Stay

4.6 on December 26, 2012

I just spend my second annual Christmas Eve and Christmas Day retreat at the Columbia Inn at Peralynna Manor, and I have to say that the second time was as good as the first. The staffis extremely kind, welcoming and gracious. Christmas Day, both David and Cynthia mingled, greeted and chatted with the guests. Just like last year, I was able to spend Christmas Day relaxing on one of the soafs by the Christmas Tree, watching movies and listening to music on my tablet. A sumptuous diner of roast turkey, mashed sweet potatoes, scalloped potatoes, dressing, rolls and gravy was ready prmptly by 5pm. I went back throughout the night for seconds thirds, and midnight snack. Btw, the staff worked early in the morning to make the delicious chocolate cake, cookies, and beautifully decorated red velvet and vanilla cupcakes. Breakfast cooked to order is top notch. Thanks to David, Cynthia, and the entire staff for making my stay enjoyable. This will be an annual tradition for me.

Innkeeper Response
We were so pleased to share the holiday with you! Thank you for all of your kind thoughts and sharing your special holiday experience at the Peralynna. We look forward to your return. Have a very happy new year!

Nice anniversary getaway

4.2 on November 30, 2012

I surprised my wife with a stay here for our 15th anniversary. We stayed in one of the premiere suites and it was very nice. The bathroom had a large shower and tub, all decked out in nice marble tile. The bed was very comfortable and we took advantage of being without the kids to catch up on some sleep. The Inn is close to some very nice areas. We took advantage of walking in nearby Centennial Park, dinner at the Iron Bridge Wine Bar and Ellicott City.

Innkeeper Response
We are so happy we could make your anniversary so special, and we look forward to providing you with the same great service again in the future. Thank you for choosing the Columbia Inn at Peralynna!

Expensive, Dirty, and Rude

1.0 on November 27, 2012

The Inn needs repair. Fan cover in bathroom falling off. Dirty carpet in high traffic areas. Staff needs to realize that the customers are paying their salaries. Breakfast cook was rude and reminded us that the kitchen closes at 10 am. We were there at 10:05. You should blend in curtosy and accomodation for those paying more to stay at the Inn than the cost of a room at Hotel Del Coronado, CA. It will be hard to reccomend the Inn to other guests.

Innkeeper Response
I sincerely apologize for your recent experience with us. I have shared your review with the entire staff, and we are working hard to resolve each matter. We ask that you give us a second chance to prove our award winning service to you. Thank you for taking the time to make us aware of your experience.

Very nice stay. A little pricey, but worth the money.

3.8 on November 25, 2012

My wife and I stayed here the night after our wedding before heading off on our honeymoon. The room was exactly as advertised on the inn's website, and it actually felt a little larger due to the cathedral ceilings we couldn't see on the photos. The amenities package that I ordered was a very nice touch, and the room was very nice and romantic. If it had cost a bit less I would be more than happy to make a repeat visit for a longer stay - maybe later, if our budget can afford it! The made-to-order breakfast was very good and the inn had a very comfortable, friendly feel to it. If you haven't been to a bed and breakfast before this is definitely a great one to try out. It's not the cheapest place to spend the night in the area, but it is definitely a worthwhile experience if you haven't done it before!

Innkeeper Response
We truly appreciate your kind review. Our rates vary with the time of year so please call us for your next reservation, and we will see what fits your budget best.

Great place, great value, would stay again, could use a fresh coat of paint

4.2 on September 27, 2012

My girlfriend and I loved the place overall. For the price of an above average hotel room anywhere else, we stayed in a suite that was bigger than my apartment. Most of the fixtures looked great, the bed was super comfortable, and breakfast was delicious in the morning. The owners were friendly and accomodating, and having a porch to hang out on was a big plus. We didn't spend too much time in the common areas, but they looked good and comfortable. I wish we had stayed for more than one night. The only complaint I had is that the room looked like it could use a visit from a handyman and a painter, and we walked through a couple of other rooms that appeared to be in need of similar attention. Electrical switches that didn't appear to turn anything on or off, dull/scuffed paint along the walls (like someone removed a fixture and then just left the wall the way it was), burnt out light bulbs, and the shower curtain in our bathroom looked like it was about ready to fall off the ceiling. I'd also advise future guests to be mindful of the place's layout before booking a room. At least one room was right next to the front door / dining room, for example, so depending on which room you book you might have to deal with some additional noise. All that said, I'd definitely stay again, but probably for more than one night this time.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at the Peralynna. I will be sure to share your comments with my maintenance team and look over all of our rooms for any work needed. We are pleased to know you would return again, and we look forward to providing you with the same great service again!

Nice service but too expensive

2.8 on September 16, 2012

I found our stay to be nice. The people and the service was good. The furniture in the room and common area was at some points worn. It felt in some areas corners were too cut to justify the price. Wine served all day was wine in a box.

Innkeeper Response
I sincerely apologize that you felt the price was not justified. I have reviewed your feedback in detail with our maintenance department, and we will be inspecting the Inn thoroughly for any "worn" out areas. We hope that you will return soon to see our improvement.

Such a cute place!

4.2 on September 07, 2012

Between the complimentary wine, strawberry pancakes, and the potatoes that were beyond delicious, I wanted to live here! The only issue I had was the key to my room occasionally got stuck and the filter in the jacuzzi tub could've used a cleaning...there ended up being something floating in the tub after I used it. But everyone was very hospitable and I really enjoyed my stay.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We will be sure to double check all of our keys and and make sure they are operating correctly. We will also share your review with housekeeping to ensure all jacuzzis are properly cleaned. We look forward to seeing you again and providing you with a perfect night stay.

Quaint little get-away, perfect for a little R&R.

4.4 on September 04, 2012

My wife and I sought out a little local "stay-cation" after plans to go abroad for our 7th anniversary failed to pan out. Given the fact that the inn was only minutes away by car, neither of us had any exceptionally grand expectations to begin with, but we realized that we were wholly incorrect when we arrived. The manor looked every bit the inviting and cozy when you walk through the doors, and Harry (one of the staff members) who greeted us had been most welcoming. Our rooms felt very clean and comfortable, with memory foam beds and fresh linens throughout. There were a number of other guests that night, and everyone kept their noise levels to respectable ranges. We had a fantastically relaxing evening and woke to a tasty breakfast that had options made to order. If there were any actual shortcomings to note, it may only be that some of the breakfast items were deemed to be overcooked, but don't let that take away from what the inn or the staff have to offer. We highly recommend anyone considering to give it a whirl, but do take the chance to book some of the larger, more luxurious rooms. Some things aren't meant to be skimped on, and the higher-end rooms are the way to go. We'll definitely be looking for future stays here.

Innkeeper Response
We are thrilled to hear you had such a wonderful stay with us! On your next visit please let us know right away if the breakfast does not meet your standards, we are always more than willing to make it perfect for you. We look forward to your return!

Oh so comfortable!

4.6 on September 03, 2012

We enjoyed a brief but wonderful stay at Peralynna. The room was bright and airy yet cozy and oh so comfortable at the same time. Breakfast was made to order and delicious. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Relaxing Getaway Close to the City

4.2 on August 29, 2012

My wife and I had a very relaxing time at The Columbia Inn at Peralynna Manor. Staff seemed friendly and complementary wine and cook to order breakfast are nice touch. Only downside could be that there is not a ton to do in walking distance or within short drive. Overall, I would recommend the Inn as a nice place to relax for a weekend.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We appreciate the recommendation and we hope to see you again soon. Next time our staff will be happy to help locate a fun activity in the area for you and your wife.

We spent one evening/night here. Everything was fine. the rooms were clean and comfortable. while they were able to accomodate gluten-free, we were a little disappointed that there wan't anything special for us--even though they knew we were coming. (like bread/muffins/cookies/cereal)

Innkeeper Response
On behalf of the entire team here, allow me to apologize for the ways we failed to meet your expectations. Please call us prior to your next arrival so that we can accommodate any special diet needs you may have.

Awesome!!!

5 on July 05, 2012

Can't say enough---the room we had (suite C) was awesome (the jacuzzi was out of this world!)...everything was totally clean, the bed was like sleeping on air, the room was beautifully furnished, and the breakfast was great! Definitely recommend!

Innkeeper Response
We are so pleased that you shared your experience with us. Please come again soon for another relaxing night away at the Peralynna!

Home Away From Home...

5 on July 01, 2012

My home away from home….literally! Peralynna is, indeed, a very special place. David and Cindy are not only top notch professionals, but they are kind and considerate individuals, accommodating- and, well, family… It is so beautiful to see two people as passionate about their business as they are about one another after all these years. After a sound sleep on the most comfortable mattress, and a yummy breakfast, I spend my mornings taking a walk around the beautiful Centennial lake. In the evenings, I enjoy sipping a cup of tea while sitting on the porch swing gazing at the clouds. There is always an opportunity to meet a new friend, or simply search out the quiet nooks for your own “quiet” time. I have referred many to Peralynna over the years. The location is terrific for and there is something for everyone whether you are seeking a romantic escape, a casual break away, or a comfortable environment for the business trip. I have experienced all three at the inn, but, the reason I continue to return is for the calming and welcoming atmosphere that allows you to simply “be”….

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for such a detailed and kind review of our Inn. We take great pride in our customer service as well as our beautiful Inn. Please call us anytime you need some relaxing time away.

An evening of delicious enjoyment

5 on June 20, 2012

We went just for the dinner/dancing (with a live combo). They do this at least two nights each month during the summer. We did take a tour of open rooms (because we arrived early). The Inn is majestic inside and out. It is sparkling clean and tastefully decorated and manicured. The food, service and entertainment were outstanding, with a flair for the "touch of home - - - in the kitchen". Magnificent evening and superb value.

3rd Anniversary Getaway

5 on June 19, 2012

Loved It! Beautiful Place! We will be back but next time we'll bring the kids with us. LOVE THE FACT THAT THIS INN WELCOMES CHILDREN! The owners are very nice and the staff are very friendly. Suite C was amazing! Excellent! My Husband and I enjoyed our night. THANK YOU!

A Unique Experience

5 on June 05, 2012

As a local, I recently took a tour of the facilities at Peralynna (with the intent of booking a special weekend for my wife's birthday), and was completely blown away! The owners were there and couldn't have been kinder, more helpful or more charming. They are very proud of Peralynna and with good reason. The structure, architecture, decorating reminded me of the great luury hotels and B&Bs of Europe. Everything was emaculate and they even invited me to dinner over the weekend, their treat! So without telling her what I planned, I took my wife to dinner on a weekend. We found the food fresh/seasonal, homecooked and very tasty and interesting, with a nice selection of wine. Again, the decor was completely charming. They also had entertainment that night and the "house-band" was fantastic, they really put the finishing touches on a perfect evening. I plan to book a suite shortly for my wife's birthday and have alerted out-of-town friends and family about this gem in the Maryland countryside.

Fantastic Anniversary!

Because of you, we had a fantastic Anniversary!!! The service was exceptional... Stanley and Mary S.

Nice facility but lacking attention to details

2.8 on May 21, 2012

My wife and I stayed at the Columbia Inn at Peralynna Manor recently and the staff was extremely nice and welcoming. Upon arriving we were given a very nice tour by the receptionist. After settling in to our room we decided to explore house and grounds. Looking around the annex section and the main building my wife and I noticed the walls needed to be repainted due to discoloration and age of the paint. Continuing around , we noticed that general overcrowding of items and furniture in the facility, especially down in the basement. In the back, we noticed 5-6 storage shed that were just out in the open. These should have been placed behind a "hidden" wall to prevent them from being seen by the general guests. While we were in the extra annex, we noticed much of the same, as in the main building, the general finishing of the construction was shoddy and materials were basic grade not of superior quality. The construction quality was lacking attention to details such as placing the hardwood floor under the door jams, not 1/2 to 3/4 inches out from the side of the walls and other finishing details too numerous to list. In the morning, the staff met us with friendly faces, and was extremely kind. My wife ordered an omelet and was cooked very well. I ordered blueberry pancakes and sausage with home fries. The blueberry pancakes were cooked well, but were cool on arrival, the sausage was completely raw, still cold on the inside and inedible. Other details were noticed during breakfast. While my wife and I had a wonderful time by the great staff, the quality of the facility we felt was not worth the price we paid for the evening. My wife summed it up to me as “Big dreams and not enough money to do it right”.

Absolute gem of a B&B

5 on May 10, 2012

The building is striking, the grounds are attractive, the rolling Maryland countryside is lovely, and nearby Centennial Park provides a peaceful, forested walk around a beautiful lake with rentable canoes. Owners Cynthia and David have designed an elegant yet thoroughly homey inn where this guest felt immediately relaxed, comfortable, and well, at home (David’s maxim: if the door’s unlocked, open it; and if you see food, eat it). The 20 or so rooms are uniquely and tastefully decorated and range from a large, inexpensive basement room to suites with huge bathrooms, fireplaces, spas, decks, and private entrances. I spent most nights in the basement room - - like most, it included a Tempur-Pedic mattress and kitchen area with fridge and microwave. It was pleasantly adjacent to the large game room with pool table, 70-inch TV plus 150 DVDs, full stove and fridge (and cooking privileges, if I wished), and washer/dryer. Breakfasts are individually and deliciously prepared by Connie, who will cook any eggs, omelettes, pancakes, French toast, or bacon/sausage combo you can think of. There is hot and cold cereal, fresh fruit, muffins and bagels, and coffees and teas with which to stuff yourself or your backpack for lunch. All this is served in a sunny, two-story, expansive great room with skylights, windows, and 50’s rock and roll in the background. There is another dark wooded, overstuffed-couched sitting room for the more private morning or evening rendezvous as well as a charming Japanese tea room. Did I mention the free dinner and dance nights that occur one weekend a month? Or the friendly, helpful staff (that’s you, Harry)? Or the abundant and eclectic pieces of art and statuary? Or the daily afternoon/evening buffet of wine, cheese, veggies, and munchies? These wonderful people and their inn provided an experience I will never forget and for which I will always be grateful.

Felt very well taken care of

Never wanted to leave

4.8 on May 09, 2012

My wife and I had tickets to a local dinner theatre and upon check in we where greeted by the owners who gave us directions to our show then had one of thier staff show us to our room. Wow what a beautiful place we almost didn't go to the show as the room was just so over the top.

A Fantastic 52nd Anniversary!

5 on April 24, 2012

For a first experience at a Bed and Breakfast, it was WONDERFUL!!! The atmosphere was homey and comfortable. The hosts were warm and welcoming. The Manor itself is very elegant, spacious, with decor fit for a king. The setting inspires poetry.

Very pretty

4.4 on April 14, 2012

My husband surprised me with one night in suite c, which was the most beautiful room at the inn. The owners were incredibly friendly and made sure we were taken care of. The band that played during dinner was fun and entertaining. We will defintely go back!

The best Valentines

5 on February 29, 2012

We had the most romantic stay! The staff is very friendly and attentive. They genuinely want your stay to be fantastic. Our suite was very clean, cozy and looked exactly how it is pictured online. This stay was what we were looking for in our 2 day getaway!! I have told everyone I know about how great the Inn was and am looking forward to the next time we can getaway!!!!

Quant, friendly and hospitial to the guest

4.6 on February 26, 2012

The inn keeper was knowledgable of the area. The rooms were exceptional with style and accessories. The food was wonderful and vast selection to chose from. Have informed family that I would go back in a heartbeat. They made you feel like family.

romantic early vday get away

The room was beautiful, the double jacuzzi was amazing, love the fireplaces!! Having snacks (and wine!!) available in the dining room/kitchen area is nice bonus.

A real home away from home

4.4 on February 15, 2012

Not only did our second visit prove to be a relaxing getaway, but my wife and I was pleased to discover that our Valentine's Weekend room rate also included a complimentary dinner party each evening with live music, dancing and fantastic food. This is my favorite B&B and worth driving the two and half hours that it takes to get there from north of Philadelphia.

Again, a wonderful stay

4.6 on February 13, 2012

As a woman traveling alone, a homey place with attentive staff is much appreciated. I have enjoyed several of the rooms here now and each is unique, comfortable and clean. The breakfast is always delicious and the common area easy to use. I won't stay anywhere else when visiting the area.

Our 14th Wedding Anniversary

5 on January 25, 2012

This was our very first experience with a bed and breakfast. I will tell you that our experience was absolutely wonderful. We stayed for a weekend in their luxury honeymoon suite, and it was absolutely perfect. My husband loved the bed and jacuzzi. The breakfast was made to perfection. My husband and I didn't want the weekend to end. Thank you for bringing that spice back for us!

The best choice I have ever made!

4.0 on January 18, 2012

The staff is friendly and really care about your experience and stay there. I was beyond impressed with the quality and variety of good and beverages only to add that breakfast was outstanding and still had my own space to have a quiet meal. The inn was extremely clean and well kept and every detail is taken care of so that for something as important and special like my anniversary I did not have to worry at all. My recommendation is high for anyone else that would consider a "staycation" or just a romantic evening.

Delightful getaway.

4.2 on January 13, 2012

The staff couldn't have been more warm and helpful. Our room was excellent. Breakfast is cooked to order and was superb. (Remember that there's no evening meal at the inn but there are many restaurants in the area.) The Inn - as its picture might suggest - is filled with nooks and crannies. We were so sorry that we didn't have more time to explore!

dog friendly

3.0 on January 04, 2012

Great in keepers, very pretty on arrival. I was disappointed no hangers in room and the room above us left the hot tub going all night which created a terrible humming noise all night. Our room was a little over priced for the value.

Awesome Time!

4.0 on December 05, 2011

Upon arrivals, we were told we had been upgraded. A beautiful home with big, cozy rooms!! Snacks, wine and good company. The man in charge, Harry, was so accommodating, took wonderful care of us. The breakfasts are made to order and are just really tasty. The entire weekend was special and we will definitely go back soon!!

Yates amazing stay at Peralynna Manor

5 on November 29, 2011

The property was amazing. I've been several B&B but none of them compares to Columbia Inn at Peralynna Manor. The continental breakfast far exceeds any breakfast I've experienced at hotels. If you are looking for a getaway check out Peralynna Manor.

A Great Stay At The Columbia Inn at Peralynna Manor

4.0 on November 23, 2011

We were warmly welcomed by Kim, who showed us to our massive room, Suite T. The room was very clean and warm. There were only a couple of items that needed to be addressed in the room. The outlet behind one of the beds was coming out of the wall, and we could have used more soap, shampoo and conditioner on our second day. The rest of the house was amazing--with all its nooks and crannies. It was truly charming. David and Cynthia Lynn were the perfect hosts. They took time to speak to all of the guests, and made them feel right at home. Breakfast was terrific. A great choice of both hot and cold foods. The waffles, omelets, and pancakes were prepared to order, and were delicious. The evening snacks and wine bar were an unexpected treat. It was great to be able to unwind after a long car ride down. The daily rate for our room was a great buy, and we were extremely pleased with our choice. I already have recommended this Inn to family and friends. Hopefully, I will be able to return one day. Deborah S.

Absolutely lovely

4.6 on November 17, 2011

It was so nice to go "home" at the end of a long day. The house and all the rooms were so beautifully decorated and welcoming. And David is fantastic. Getting my breakfast made to order was a treat. I will definitely be back.

recent stay

4.0 on November 09, 2011

We absolutely loved our stay, which unfortunately was only one night. Also had to leave on the early side to get to work. Next time we will stay multiple nights.

Amazing staff!!

4.2 on November 09, 2011

The staff is very friendly and courteous. The location is quaint and cozy, everything a bed and breakfast should be. My only advice would be to avoid getting the basement room under the kitchen, because it is very loud very early in the morning as the staff prepares breakfast (not pots and pans loud, but creaky wooden floors loud). I cannot complain, because the staff did warn me about this at check-in and gave me the option of another room, so I knew what I was getting into. The breakfast is cooked-to-order and top-notch!

Honeymoon stay

4.6 on November 02, 2011

My Husband & I stayed for our honeymoon and enjoyed the made to order homemade breakfasts every morning! Such a nice homey touch. The staff was always friendly with guests and each other. We had a wonderful time & there are so many things to do & places to each all within 10-30mins of the place. We are planning on returning and will recommend this to all of our friends & family. ~Raving Fans!

Amazing Stay

5 on October 24, 2011

My boyfriend and I stayed in the C Suite, and it was magnificent. We had a wonderful time at the Inn, and we both can't get over how comfortable the bed was. The staff was friendly, and was on hand to help in any way possible. We plan to stay again, but try another magnificent suite. We're thinking about maybe coming back around Christmas time, as we are sure it will be beautifully decorated.

Fantastic!!

The Columbia Inn at Peralynna Manor is truly a gem! We had a amazing experience and we will be staying here again.

Not a luxury property

3.2 on October 09, 2011

We were looking for an upscale spot to spend a quiet couple of days chilling after visiting our kids and staying at the Laurel Holiday Inn. I searched the internet and the Inn at Peralynna was very impressive. But I feel like I got fooled by great photography. It was a nice place, very friendly and helpful staff, nice service, pretty countryside, but not at all upscale. I was used to B&B's developed from historic properties and this was not. The rooms were very large but very modestly finished out with contractor grade materials in poor condition. The tub was dangerous with it's steps and the railing came off in our hands. Aluminum, things not quite square, drywall, very low end doors, etc. The furnishings were antique mall kitsch. Very disappointing after the photographs. There really is a herd of sheep that grazes across the street from the property but the street is extremely busy all the time. Don't get me wrong, we can't say enough nice things about the staff including the manager who drove to the airport to bring me my briefcase that got left in the lobby when she gave me a satisfaction survey to complete. We loved (especially me) the Iron Bridge Winery - lunch was outstanding and the entire flight of wines we tried were exceptional. Also try the Sappphire Indian restaurant in Laurel - wonderful food. But don't be fooled by the photography and exceptional advertising for the Peralynna Manor - it is what it is - not what it's pictured.

Best B&B in Maryland

5 on October 04, 2011

We stayed at The Columbia Inn at Peralynna as part of our honeymoon and it was more than we could have ever expected it to be. We cannot express in words how the staff made us feel like part of the Peralynna family. The interior was tastefully decorated, the food was superb and our room (as well as all the public areas) had a relaxing quality that made it feel like home. We will definately plan on staying there in the near future.

best place ever!!!!!!!!!

Convenient location and friendly service

Overall a comfortable stay and beats staying in a cheaper/low service hotel chain.

Can't wait to go back!

5 on September 15, 2011

Cozy and charming, this B&B was the perfect little retreat for us. We could have explored the area, but we hurried back every night to cozy up with the complimentary wine, cheese, cookies and cake, not to mention playing pool. We can't wait to go back when the weather is cooler, to take full advantage of its warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for reviewing your stay with us! We are sorry to hear that you didn't get to take advantage of the great attractions in the area, but there's always next time! In colder weather, the colors of the trees and countryside are absolutely breath taking and offer much more depth and beauty to the curious eye: All of which can be seen from our lofty balconies, oversized windows, spacious deck, or from the comfort of your luxurious bed and warm fireplace. With all our guests, it is our passion to make your stay as memorable and enjoyable as possible. We look forward to your return and thank you again for your gracious comments.

First Time at a B&B 9/11/2011

4.2 on September 15, 2011

My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our 2 yr wedding anniversary. We stayed only 1 night and really wished we could have stayed at least a week. The O suite was beautiful, spacious, romantic, and private. THE BED WAS SOOO COMFORTABLE!!! The most romantic room we have ever stayed in and exceeded our expectations for a bed and breakfast as this was our first time staying at one. The hot tub was wonderful, and the privacy of that suite was amazing. The tv in the jacuzzi/bathroom was a great addition and didn't interfere w/ our romantic evening a bit. The staff was so wonderful and accomodating as they laid out complimentary rose petals to help set the mood for anniversary and the breakfast was delicious. The complimentary wine was also a wonderful bonus! There was a journal in the room of past guest reviews and at first it was a little weird to read all the stories of all the couples who shared such intimate moments in the bed/room we were in but some of them were really entertaining and I wish we had time to write a review but the time went by so fast. I guess it's true that times flys when you're having fun. We will definitely visit again and longer than 1 night. I definitely recommend this B&B to anyone looking for an updated B&B w/ a warm family feel. Mr. & Mrs. Thompson 09/2011

Innkeeper Response
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide such detailed insight - even if it was just for one night! We strive to make your say as pleasurable as possible and apologize for any discomfort some of the comments may have caused. Our O Suite is one of our most popular suites for the exact reasons you listed. Our entire staff is delighted to be the standard to which you hold all other Bed and Breakfast's to, as is our goal here at the Peralynna. We look forward to and anticipate your return!!

Good value for area!

2.8 on September 10, 2011

inn keeper and staff were wonderful and accommodating! the place was beautiful with everything to make your stay comfortable. great food and services. We liked the upstairs rooms better...basement rooms of course don't have windows, and upstairs rooms are more romantic...also some updates to airconditioning in rooms would be good. Above bed air made pillows damp, i think

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for staying with us at Peralynna and for taking the time to share your experiences with us. We take tremendous pride in providing an excellent experience for our guests and want the opportunity to thank you for staying with us and to make it up to you, any time we fall short of that mark for any reason. The bad news was that we have experienced over 20 inches of rain in less than 2 weeks- The good news is that Peralynna has proven to be seaworthy, even though she got a bit damp in the process! She never lost power though, throughout the earthquake, 2 hurricanes and one tropical storm. Sump pumps were running overtime as were all 18 zones of air conditioning. Some of the ac’s froze up due to the heavy humidity, but they have been fully serviced and are back in action. Grass cutting was delayed by necessity due to the severity of the storms and extremely wet grounds. The grounds finally dried out enough for our crew to cut it today. Although the storm threw a lot of leaf debris at our building, the sun peeked out today for the first time in weeks and our power washers came out to play! We appreciate our loyal guests who braved the elements to get to us and our new guests that toughed it out with us and we hope to see you back soon:)

Nice

3.4 on September 09, 2011

The staff was wonderfulcand I enjoyed my visit, however the upkeep and cleanliness are lacking a bit. The room 'T' had a funky smell when we arrived, kinda like a wet dog. After running a fan and dehumidifier in the room for a few hour the smell went away and did not come back. The upkeep of the property was lacking, they would be well to have a full time handyman/fixer upper for at least a while. Thats it, I cannot pick on them for anything else. The staff and owners were extrmely nice, but not the annoying nice. The place is huge and had a bunch of comfy common areas.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for staying with us at Peralynna and for taking the time to share your experiences with us. We appreciate your sweet remarks and take to heart any areas that need improvement. With the severe rainfall leaving over 20 inches of rain in less than 2 weeks our ship became a bit damp!I'm glad that the dehumidifier cleared it up so quickly. Although all of our housekeepers and fulltime maintenace staff were working overtime to keep the storm and huricane damage at bay, it appears that we missed some opportunities to shine. We appreciate your sincerity in your comments and hope we have another chance in better weather to see you at Peralynna again!

Lovely getaway treasure!!

5 on September 01, 2011

We were celebrating our 9th anniversary and it was our very first time trying a B & B also. Even though Hurricane Irene coincided, everything turned out great! The innkeepers and all the staff were fabulous; the meals were awesome; the accomadations were better than expected. We know which suite to book next time also!!

Well worth it!

4.4 on August 26, 2011

My husband and I spent the night here enroute to our return to Texas from visiting my parents on the Eastern Shore. We can't say enough about this B&B, the staff were warm and hospitable, along with being engaging. The room we stayed in was very nice and excellent value for what you receive and its locations. It's well worth the stopover coming out of BWI, going through Baltimore or returning to your home designation. Not to mention the area has a superabundance of parks and we absolutely loved the old world charm and architecture of downtown Ellicot City which was only minutes from the B&B.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you so much for your generous comments! We pride ourselves on being a home away from home, especially when you are 1500 miles away. Our entire staff enjoys being an asset to the overall environment that our guests experience. Keep us in mind next time you come visit! We look forward to having you again.

One of the best places I have ever stayed in the US!

5 on August 23, 2011

The service was outstanding with friendliness & hospitality. I would recommend this place to everyone who wants to get away from the rushing world or simply needs a clean, elegant, welcoming place to stay.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for taking the time to give us your compliments. Everyone here at the Peralynna lives and breathes service and strives to create the experience you have had, with everyone that comes to us. We are so glad to have provided you with a little paradise as it is the meaning of our namesake.

We had a good experience. Very relaxing and romantic!!

3.4 on July 28, 2011

My Husband and I stayed 1 night July 22 for our anniversary in the A suite. We really enjoyed our stay there, the rooms were exactly what we expected and more. Your staff were very friendly. They gave us a nice tour around and we were able to look at the other rooms as well. Suite C will be our next visit, Suite O was nice as well. The breakfast was AWESOME, the cook did excellent job. I also like to Thank one of your workers Cori. He was extremely helpful from the time I called to make reservation up to the time we arrived. He made every effort to keep us Happy. We had an incident with water leakage in our room. I must say we are really impressed on the Customer Service we received from the Owners, they corrected the issue without a doubt. It’s truly hard to find good decent people and great customer services these days. The Owners were truly genuine & nice people, they had no problem talking to us and sharing how they got started. But you guys were all wonderful. Our stay at Peralynna was wonderful!! The atmosphere was very warming, cozy and feel like home away from home. This was our first experience at B&B but it will not be our last. We will definitely be back again and will recommend this place to Friends & Family.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for taking the time to provide a very detailed review of your stay. We are glad to have given you a great impression of the service and hospitality provided at a bed and breakfast, and look forward to your return. While we apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the water leakage, we are pleased to see that it did not detract from your over all enjoyment of our beautiful inn.

Very good

3.8 on July 25, 2011

I really enjoyed my stay. The only thing I didn't like were the fact that pricing for the extra benefits were not included online nor the fact that the made to order complimentary breakfast had to be ordered 3 days prior as well as any extras like the couples mani/pedis or couples massages. Other than that the place was beautiful, serene, and relaxing.

Innkeeper Response
We are really glad that you enjoyed your stay and was able to relax-that is our main goal! We do not have an on-site spa but prefer to have massages in your romantic room. We do need a couple days notice for spa treatments but as for the breakfast-no pre-ordering necessary. Our chef is in the kitchen every morning and makes anything from omelettes, french toast, pancakes, bacon, turkey bacon, etc. We hope to see you again soon. David Lynn

Wedding Night Bliss

Our only issue was that the building our room was in was locked with a deadbolt to which we did not have the key. Once the manager unlocked the door, our stay was wonderful.

A real gem

5 on June 14, 2011

We stayed one night - it is a beautiful place - lots of nice landscaping, service was excellent - way beyond expectations- and the room was lovely. Breakfast was made to order with a lot of extras. The room was small, but with a large bathroom and an entrance way with a microwave and a refrigerator.

Definately a good bed and breakfast...

3.8 on June 08, 2011

My husband and I had a wonderful stay here for our first anniversary. The concierge was very nice and pretty helpful. We stayed in the S suite which was fantastic and the shower was amazing! The good thing about breakfast was my husband and I got there an hour after they closed it down (we misunderstood the times) and the chef was still willing to cook us stuff. I thought the negative thing about breakfast was that it was basically a buffet with things you could order if you wanted. The breakfast was good I thought, just not one of those outstanding sit down breakfasts I've experienced at other places. That was the only semi-complaint I could have, I thuoght everything else was nice. As far as the location, it is surrounded by houses, but there is a lot of shrubbery and fencing and I don't know who that would bother really, certainly not us. The back deck is huge and was fabulous to sit out on and have a glass of wine or two and breakfast. We would return again...probably to the same room!

Weekend get away

We were in Baltimore for an all weekend sporting event. The Inn at Peralynna is located close enough for an easy commute back and forth. The breakfast was very good and the glass of wine on arrival and carrot cake the next evening were definitely added bonuses. The innkeepers were very gracious and accommodating. Would love to stay here again.

Review at The Inn at Peralynna

4.0 on June 03, 2011

My husband and I stayed at this B&B 6-27-11 for one night. It exceeded our expectations. The staff was friendly and accommodating. There were hors d'oeuvres and wine in the evening. The room was clean and comfortable (I loved the mattress). I enjoyed the jacuzzi tub and shower in room "Y". In the evening we walked the grounds (lovely) and played pool. The breakfast was wonderful and season to perfection. The chef was friendly and the staff made sure we had everything we needed. I was surprised--- there were quite a few people staying during the time we were there, but it was not crowed. It was very private and the guest were friendly. I definitely would visit again!

The Best

4.4 on May 27, 2011

My fiancée and I recently stayed here for my birthday (May 12 2011). The stay was so great. We had the honeymoon suite (O suite) all the way at the top floor. It was so relaxing. The jacuzzi tub for 2, the fireplace and tv in front of the tub. We were in heaven. It was so hard leaving this place and going back to our regular life. The complimentary breakfast was sooooo good. The best complimentary breakfast I've ever had. The Inn at Peralynna made it one of the best birthdays I've ever had. We have definitely made plans to return.

Friendly service, felt like home away from Home

4.6 on May 23, 2011

The staff and service was very good. The room was below the kitchen so with wood floors you could hear some creaks in the morning when staff are moving around making breakfast which was made known to us in advance and we were offered alternative rooms. However, we did not mind because we were there only to sleep and we had ear plugs. They prepare hot made to order breakfasts and treat you like you are a guest in their home. Its quiet and tranquil surrounded by green. Its beautiful and highly recommended.

Jimmy and Rochelle

5 on May 18, 2011

We got married on a friday in May and we went to The Inn at Peralynna, it was a wonderful place and all the staff were as friendly as can be, even when they cleaned our room while we were not there they did not go through our things, like others hotels we have stayed in, in the past!! We are going to return there on our anniversary and every anniversary after the first. I love this B&B. :)

Birthday Getaway

3.0 on May 13, 2011

Loved the Peralynna!!! When we first arrived and checked into our room, I was concerned about the cobwebs that were all over our suite. Naturally is was from lack of use but figured that since they knew someone was coming to stay that they would pay attention to that detail. Talked to the front desk clerk and he cleaned it right away. Once that was done everything else was perfect! The place was beautiful and has a true home away from home. Made to order Breakfast was nice the first morning, but the Mother's Day Morning Breakfast was buffet style which was not really made to order. :( I think that they should make their breakfast hours later...if you come to relax, the last thing you want to have to do is rush to make sure you get some breakfast. All in all..it was for my Husbands Birthday, and he loved it from beginning to end. Think I was more critical because I paid for it. :) I will be planning to go back for a Tea or some sort of special event there.

Great experience and B&B!!

What a gem...close to the Fairgrounds -- beautiful location and fantastic breakfast and hospitality -- we'll definitely be back.

Mixed feelings about Peralynna

3.4 on May 04, 2011

The building and the rooms are very nice. The breakfast in the morning is wonderful. However, the girl at the front desk wasn't very friendly. In addition, we did not know when we reserved that there was an event happening there that night, and we were not able to use any of the ground-floor common areas. Hospitality, which is a couple trays of cheese/crackers/fruit, and was moved upstairs that night. Unimpressive. Our room was supposed to have slippers, which it did not, and a phone, which it did not. The balcony from the room was unusable unless we wanted to clean off the tables and chairs ourselves - they were filthy. In the end, we loved the room & the food, and would probably return.

The reviews are spot on!

4.6 on April 24, 2011

My wife and I stayed here for a special get away.. the sheep in the fields across the street were a plus. Also very close to a great mall - Columbia Mall. The neighborhoods around the inn are great to drive through - we drove during blossom time. Centrally located so ez to drive to DC or Baltimore. Very able and gracious hosts and staff. Nice snacks around 4pm including great soup and breakfast to order in the morning.. free pop, cake.. what else could be needed??? 5 stars!

You will never be hungry for more

3.6 on April 23, 2011

Our R junior suite was smaller than some others we saw, but still more than adequate with a microwave, refrigerator and an awesome jacuzzi tub/shower combo with multiple shower heads. As others have noted, the place needs to be refreshed with interior painting and new carpet. The best thing is free, unlimited access to drinks, including wine, and snacks and a filling breakfast. Good hosts make sure no one goes away hungry!

Best Kept Secret in Columbia MD

4.8 on April 21, 2011

This was my first bed and breafast stay experience. I wanted to do something diffrent from the standard stay at the major hotels chains. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were very inviting and friendly. The room decor truly set the tone for a relaxing home away from home feeling. Typically, I have difficulty falling off the sleep, but this was not the case during my stay that The Inn at Peralynna. The meals were fabulaous and is a premuim compared to the traditonal "contential breakfast." I have shared my experience with my real esate agent in the area as well as my friends and family in North Carolina. I will be returning again in the near future. The rewards program that are heavily marketed to encourage return visits is no competition for the value, service and experince of staying at The Inn at Peralynna!! S. Johnson Charlotte NC.

Peralynna is a gem!

5 on April 20, 2011

This was mu fourth visit to the Inn at Peralynna and with each visit I am more and more impressed with the service and staff. The executive suites are well appointed, the private baths have plush robes, towels, and delicious smelling toiletries. I have stayed in three different types of rooms, all of which have their own design and decor. I read the review below about the P and B-2 rooms which I learned are reserved for long-term stays and only by request as the rooms have a substantial discount compared to the executive suites. I would read all the rave reviews about the inn and see what others have to say! The Inn at Peralynna is spectacular for corporate travelers and for those looking for a great place to stay in Columbia, MD.

Great staff

4.8 on March 30, 2011

The staff was really fantastic, helping us with every request we had. We plan to stay again for a weekend, even though we're locals. I've been in B&Bs that were more like hostels, and this was far closer to a hotel experience in terms of the quality of the rooms. The beds are Tempurpedics, and they just aren't my favorite. However, that's just a preference, not a complaint. I enjoyed having my breakfast cooked to order in front of me.

The stay at the Peralynna was wonderful from the time we arrived for our honeymoon until we departed. Everyone was very attentive and congenial. Everything you would want and more!

Wow, what an adventure

5 on March 07, 2011

I went to the Peralynna to celebrate my 50th Birthday and I could not believe the special attention the owners placed on my special day. I have never stayed at a place and didn't want to leave like I did at the Peralynna. It is worth visiting over and over again. I don't think I will stay anywhere else when I come to Maryland but the Peralynna. The whole ambience exceeded my expectations and you will not find friendlier people. The atmosphere makes even the guest friendly to each other. I look forward to my next visit this year. Jacqueline

Will definitely go back.

5 on February 20, 2011

I went to the Inn and Peralynna as a late Valentine's day with my boyfriend. We were greeted by the staff and promptly given a tour of the manor. Beautiful. We stayed in the "S" suite and the only complaint I have is that the jacuzzi tub in the bathroom is just the size of a bathtub. Also, the manor is located just a few miles from a few restaurants (we went to Hickory Ridge Grille, Mmmm) and a couple of other stores. I will definitely be going back to the Inn at Peralynna.

romantic getaway

4.4 on February 13, 2011

we went for a quiet little getway. the room was beautiful ( a gorgeous peacock motif) the fireplaces cozy (even if they were electric) and the amount of space was amazing. the 2 person jacuzzi could use some seats or texture to the bottom to keep you from sliding around so much, but all else was wonderful. everyone was very nice and helpful, and breakfast was wonderful. we have booked a regular suite for a conference in baltimore later this year. would definitely reccommend this b&b to anyone wanting a fantistic room at a great price, with wonderful people around to help with any questions.

Beautiful Inn

4.2 on February 09, 2011

We stayed here for our wedding night and the room was just perfect. We had a huge tub in our bedroom and gorgeous furnishings. It made the night extra special.

We will be back

4.6 on February 05, 2011

There was some confusion when we arrived, and the room we ended up with was not the one displayed on the website. HOWEVER it was lovely and cozy, the bed very comfortable, snacks were great, the whole place delightful and the breakfasts the best we've had anywhere.

Wonderful weekend away from home

Winter getaway

4.0 on January 24, 2011

This was my first time ever staying at a bed and breakfast. I always talked about doing it, but some how never got around to it. What a great experience from the time we arrived until we left. I dont no if all bed and breakfast are this nice, but if they are i would never want to stay in a hotel again. I would and have recommended The Inn at Peralynna to my freinds. I will be returning to this wonderful bed and breakfast.

excellent value!

5 on January 13, 2011

I stayed at Peralynna for one night only, but will be sure to come back. The complimentary glass of wine late in the evening when I arrived was a real treat! Breakfast was outstanding!

Wonderful stay

4.0 on January 06, 2011

The Inn at Peralynna's website and the majority of it's reviews lead one to have quite high expectations. It should be noted that BedandBreakfast.com's 3-'star' rating is defined as "met my expectations". I expected 3-star meant 'average'. It does not. ;o) We found the house beautifully lit, warm and inviting. On the way to our room, it was pointed out where we could find coffee, soda at any time, and explained when and where breakfast would be served. I asked if there was any appropriate location for a smoker to go, and she directed me to the private balcony off our room. We had to rush our stop for evening snacks of crackers/cheese/soup, etc, but another patron told me the soup was wonderful. The tempurpedic bed and fine linens were wonderful. In the morning, I went down to grab a cup of coffee. I typically drink french press or espresso at home and found myself wishing the coffee were stronger and hotter. As I was considering this, the chef saw me and asked if I wanted him to make me anything. Later, my husband and I took him up on his offer and were quickly served a lovely breakfast. The chef checked back on us and really made us feel welcome -- he was so nice and friendly and I felt like the small interaction and good meal really helped us face the rest of the what we knew would be a sad day (grandfather's funeral). Now that I'm back at home, I find myself daydreaming about going back. Yes, if you looked closely you could tell there was a residential development just behind the Inn (where the website would make you think you were acres and acres from civilization). And in sunlight, it did seem like there were too many stark white walls, and some of the decor seemed oddly eclectic. But the important parts of our stay were just perfect, and I'm looking for an excuse to go back, soon.

Christmas in Maryland

4.2 on January 05, 2011

I booked The Inn at Peralynna for a Christmas visit with our daughter in D.C., and I'm so glad that I did! It was truly amazing. On Christmas morning, my entire family and I were sitting in a gorgeous dining room eating our made-to-order breakfast in front of a fire place while looking out of three-story windows at the falling snow. It was magical! I was afraid that I would miss being at home for Christmas, but the Inn was so beautifully decorated, and the staff was so friendly, it felt like home.

Review of Peralynna

5 on January 04, 2011

My husband and I used this getaway for a New Years Eve overnight. The proprieters went ABOVE and BEYOND in everyway to make us feel welcome, comfortable and explained the history of the place in a very engaging way. Very fascinating and the decor was also awesome! We had stimulating conversation and wonderful food. We got so much extra value for the money.

Terrific stay

5 on January 03, 2011

The staff was very friendly, the room was comfortable, the house had all the amenities I wanted and more, and breakfast was delicious. I would definitely recommend the Inn at Peralynna to others.

Best night's sleep in town

4.0 on December 13, 2010

The Tempur-pedic mattresses make for a very restful evening. Room size is great to get settled in for a week (or more!!). The owners and staff are very friendly. They make one feel right at home -- so much so that one is free to eat/drink any (and every) available food/beverage. And if you don't finish that book on the shelf, take it with you!!

Wonderful Bed & Breakfast

It was our first time staying at a bed & breakfast and diid not know what to expect. Our room was nice & cozy with it's fireplace, shared balcony & jacuzzi; the food was delicious and staff was friendly. We can't wait to go back in the spring when the flowers bloom.Very romantic, very charming.

Very nice B&B

A little on the expensive side, but you get your money's worth. I took my wife there for an in-week getaway and we had a very relaxing stay. The rooms are very very nice and the staff is extremely helpful and nice. I would highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast to any one passing through the area!

A nice place to spend your special occasion

3.6 on November 17, 2010

My husband and I stayed here for our one-year wedding anniversary a few weekends ago. We'd researched a number of B&Bs in the area, but once I looked at Peralynna's website, I knew that's where I wanted to stay. The inn itself is pretty and spacious; there are so many rooms and staircases, it's easy to get lost! The room we stayed in - Suite D - is very nice, and bigger than it looks in the pictures on the site. Two minor drawbacks - although both are advertised on the website, neither the complimentary slippers (apparently they ran out) nor the DVD player were in the room. My husband minded more than I did, though! We thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary wine in the kitchen area after dinner; there's quite a selection! We met and talked with David - he's very pleasant, and it's obvious he's proud of his establishment. We also spent some time talking with Kim (one of the staff) - she's great! And the chef, Gary, is awesome - he'll make just about anything you want for breakfast. I'd definitely stay here again!

The Best Bed & Breakfast Ever

5 on November 13, 2010

My wife and I were about to celebrate our 15th Wedding Anniversary on Oct. 28,2010 and we had discused a few different ways and places to celebrate this Special occasion . I have to take you back a bit so you can see JUST how Special this Anniversary really was to US . As the year continued we talked about how we might celebrate and where we might go . I retired from my Job after 38 yrs. from the Post Office and things weren't going so well with her job being so short handed ,she unable to have the time off . So it really looked as though we weren't go to be able go anywhere for this Special 15th Anniversary. So I decided on my own to keep things kinda close and simple . I had heard of " The Inn at Peralynna " and seen Post card pictures and also did some checking on the internet and decided to make reservations for the 28th and 29th ( Thursday & Friday ) at the Peralynna and told them also it was for our 15th Wedding Anniversary . My Wife had NO IDEA I had made these plans, she did know we were going to dinner at one of our favorite Resturants , so after dinner as we were driving home , my wife quickly realized we were heading in a different direction and said " Where are we going , I'm full and I am tired and I want to go home " . I reasured her that we were going HOME for the evening , ( we just weren't going to OUR HOME ) to just relax and we would be there very shortly. When we pulled into the parking lot of the Peralynna she thought we were going to get massages together ,but as we entered the desk area at the front door and she saw that we were registered to stay , boy was she ever SURPRIZED , and when she also the room we were staying in she couldn't stop crying . She quickly HUGGED me and we both were in tears . Our bed was covered with Rose Peddles , the view was fantastic ,we had some Sparkling Bubbly, our two nights were Absolutely Wonderfull . We would and will recommend " The Inn at Peralynna " to everyone, everytime . Mr. and Mrs. James R. Lawson

Luxury Suites Available!

3.8 on October 25, 2010

We stayed in a luxurious suite at The Inn at Peralynna. We were very impressed with all of the amenities in our room and at the Bed and Breakfast in general. The food was average though and we had very little contact with the staff and owners. We would definitely recommend this place and, in comparison to other Bed and Breakfasts, all of the room prices seemed to be reasonable.

Very Classy...

I treated my friend for his birthday with a very special day at the inn and we had a wonderful time. Very relaxing and peaceful. We were greeted by Gary who carried our bags to the room and fixed us a very tasty breakfast. I will be having another stay, hopefully very, very soon. Would recommend to anyone.

A Class of Its Own

4.4 on August 25, 2010

I don't stay at bed and breakfasts. Well, not usually. Now, in the last two months, I have had two stays at the Inn at Peralynna in two months. Here on business, there is some disappointment in leaving after a week and knowing that the next hotel will be the "cookie cutter", impersonal chain hotel. Peralynna is comfortable, personal, and beautiful. It stands in a class of its own, and I am glad I experienced it.

The house was clean and beautifully furnished, the rooms were very clean and cozy, and the breakfast (which was cooked to order by the owner) was delicious. The house had so many things to do in it that we didnt even have to leave to be entertained. They really made us feel at home and we cant wait to return!! Kudos for an outstanding place!!!!

A fantastic getaway

Staying at the Inn was a joy. Quick, easy check-in, comfortable rooms with pleasant service. Our group had a wonderful stay!

5 on January 26, 2010

Our church group spent an overnight at the Inn and found it to be elegant, yet comfortable and welcoming for all, from the youth group to our senior citizens. Cynthia and David, the innkeepers and their whole staff were exceptionally friendly, flexible and accommodating for a group of our size. The complimentary breakfast was wonderful, freshly cooked and presented in a beautiful manner. From making dinner reservations at a local restaurant for us to taking group photos for us outside their lovely inn, they could not have been more accommodating. The youth group and chaperones who slept in several suites were so impressed with the fabulous game room, complete with big screen TV and pool table. All the rooms were impressive and distinctive and there are lots of sitting areas for relaxing. We have already booked our rooms for next year!

Very poorly run.

1.8 on November 03, 2009

No wonder why there aren't any pictures on the website for the room we reserved! It should have tipped us off. We wanted to stay here for an extended amount of time- about 2 months with the possibility of up to 4 months (we were in the middle of a move). We called 2 months in advance. To save the room for a month, we had to pay up-front for the entire month... 2 months in advance! So, we had to put it on our personal credit card, because it was too early to put on my hubby's work card. We got there, and the room was dirty- the carpets (I didn't want to walk bare-foot), the couch (I hated to do anything but sit down). There was mold in the shower... which had big holes where buttons were supposed to be. The room was a mess... everything was mis-matched and very old. It was like the dump room for the place. There was a door to the outside from the room with the twin beds- I looked at the carpet, and it looked spotted black... like bad mold. The walls had scrapes and holes above the one twin bed. When my hubby first got to the room, there was mold in the refrigerator. We told them we had 3 young children- would it fit all of us. "Certainly!" But, there were only 2 twin beds, and we had to make our own bed for our 3 year old in the big closet. After a couple weeks, they put up an air mattress there, but it would be so deflated by the morning, I was worried that my child was going to suffocate. Now, back to the money: So, when we got there, my hubby asked them to charge his work card, and refund the money to our personal card. It took a week for them to charge his work card, and another 3 weeks to refund the money to our personal card... we're talking Thousands of Dollars! It was completely unprofessional! Needless to say we cut our visit there to just that one month, and moved to a different hotel!

A "Has it All" Boutique Hotel near DC

3.8 on May 13, 2009

From the moment guests enter The Inn at Peralynna, they are embraced with warmth and gracious hospitality. This magnificent country manor reflects careful planning with the goal of anticipating any desire a guest might have and making sure it is provided to the "nth" degree. Each evening, guests may select from an impressive buffet of complimentary evening beverages, desserts & appetizers which are set up in the 4-story atrium. This is also the area where a delicious made-to-order breakfast, prepared by the inn's chef, is served each morning. Coffee and tea are available throughout the day. The Inn at Peralynna is conveniently located to BMW airport and Washington DC. It provides outstanding accommodations for business travelers as well as an ideal setting for meetings, seminars, and weddings! Guest rooms/suites are offered in varied sizes, but each is delightful and distinctively decorated. The bathrooms are unparalleled! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Inn at Peralynna and felt as though I were in England as I looked out my window at a herd of sheep grazing on a verdant hillside across the road from the inn. It is a place I would love to visit again and highly recommend to others visiting the area. Maxine Pinson Contributing Editor BedandBreakfast.com

Fabulously Inviorating

4.8 on February 20, 2009

I had heard wonderful raves about the inn, so for Valentine's Day weekend, it all was an experience that earned a review to share. The hosts are so gracious and accommodating, every guest at the evening reception shared in the warmth of the great room. And the delicious food, spectacular modern bedrooms just invoked an awe from myself and my fiancee. We're coming back at our next opportunity and bringing friends!

5 on January 28, 2009

The inn has the best mattress. I've never slept so good. This was my first time at a B&B and I am hooked! I met some very interesting people and this is something. I would not have done a hotel. The service was first class, and the staff was very personable. This was a true home away from home. I felt as if I was spending time with family.

GREATLY DISAPPOINTED...

1.6 on December 28, 2008

KC:In all fairness the staff was pleasant. However, upon my arrival i found the premises to be unappealing (unlike the pics they portray online). The rug at the front desk is filthy, the wood floors are scuffed. Initially, we were admitted into the wrong room (a honeymoon suite) which was already occupied. Upon entering our room, we were unimpressed with the setup. It was obvious that the room was to small for the king size bed and the curtains looked like they were just thrown up on the window. There were only two coffee cups despite having a fridge, microwave, cabinet and shelves. There was initially one set of towels and garbage was left in the garbage can from the guests before us. Breakfast was a disaster (none of the two chefs showed up) so we were at the mercy of the two young hosts too accommodate us ( we appreciate their efforts because they did their best) but still it was very disappointing. The sum of it all, the Peralynna Manor is poorly managed. Everyone but no one is in charge. There is very little organization and it is outrageously priced. This was my first bed and breakfast ever and I will never return here again even if they paid me $1200.00 a night!

Outstanding B&B

One door closed, another one opens

5 on December 11, 2008

An unforeseen incident interrupted our journey from Baltimore to our home in WV. We were stranded-with no accommodations available- A slammed door. Open the door to the Peralynna Manor, a wonderland of comforts, a stress-free environment of other worldly ambiance. WOW! What a treat! Soft music, overstuffed furniture, and smiles and graciousness at every turn. You won't be sorry if you open this door!

Crisis and opportunity

5 on December 11, 2008

I recently learned that the Chinese character for crisis and opportunity are the same. Traveling home from a visit to John Hopkins, we found ourselves in the middle of a crisis-overheated engine, possible demise of our car. Enter an opportunity for a respite from our anxiety, our worry, our world of uncertainty. An open door, a temporary haven of beauty, elegance, and care. only 22 miles from Baltimore, opportunity 350 (?) miles from our West Virginia home, the Peralynna Manor is a slice of Heaven on Earth!

This place is extremely accommodating. The staff members were very helpful, polite and respectful. I stayed here for a week. During that time, I had two different rooms and both were fantastic! The steam shower and jaccuzzis were spectacular; the beds, sheets and pillows made you melt to sleep; and the private balconies offered beautiful, peaceful views. I cannot say enough about Peralynna Manor. Many thanks to all the folks there for making my stay wonderful. Hopefully, I will see you all again in March on my way back through this area. I have traveled a fair amount over the course of my career. This is the first time I have truly felt welcomed as a "house" guest. David, Cynthia and staff have provided a home away from home for the past month while I worked in nearby Clarksville. The rooms are very classy, eloquent and clean. The house is opened and accessible to all guests providing a good community atmosphere if you desire. David is a wonderful cook and gracious host. Thanks to all involved for making my time away from my family more bearable. Sean Hudson

Lovely surronding- inLovely surroundings- incredible breakfastcredible breakfast

4.8 on June 23, 2008

Peralynna is certainly the best inn we’ve stay in in quite a while. And David the owner was running it all by himself since his helper did not show up Sunday morning to help him make and serve breakfast. It was unquestionably the best breakfast we’ve had serve to us in over 30 years of visiting B&Bs and inns around the county and the world. It was served in the great room with 8 skylights lighting up the 3 story room overlooking the lovely garden. There was a serve oneself bar with fruit and juice and cereal and bagels and English muffins and homemade scones. Then Dave took your order for eggs any style or an omelet (I had a Zen, one with everything- yummy) or corn beef hash of pancakes or French toast or waffles or… The bed in our suite was super comfortable-my teenager wasn’t as trilled with the foldout couch.. We were pleased that the inn offered some Temperpedic mattresses, like we have at home but the suite with them were booked. With a twinkle in his eye, David explained that Suite S was often used as the honeymoon suite and the pillow top mattress had had much more bounce. Well it was certainly comfortable, and we slept well There is a library with lots of books and Dave told us that if we got into one we should take it home. There are also lots of tapes to play on the flat screen TVs in most (all?) room. Ther is a pool table and huge TV downstairs but I preferred to sit on the gargantuan porch in the back yard and listen to all the birds. Cocktail hour was at 6pm with a little bit of something to suit most tastes: carrots and celery with dip, meatballs, cheddar cheese chunks and butter cookies. There was a frig with cold soda and one with cold water which along with 5 different no cheap boxed wines and coffee/decaf and tea were available at every hour. This is a place to just sit back and relax and feel pampered.

Best rest all year

4.4 on April 28, 2008

I usually arise at 3:30 am to go to work. I rarely sleep past 5:30 on the weekends either. I actually slept at Peralynna Manor on a temperpedic king bed, until 9:00! Comfort, styling, amenities, and a great staff. Loved my visit!

The Inn at Peralynna Manor

5 on April 28, 2008

My visit to Peralynna wa a reward for sales excellence with Mary Kay cosmetics. It was an oasis after a grueling week on my fulltime job as an operating room nurse. The ambience was alluring with the marvelous decor, gracious managers and coffee fresh and hot. What a lovely getaway in the midst of ice and snow.

When first we called we knew that we would be taken care of very well here. On first arriving, are beliefs were confirmed. The main desk area had this beautiful black top with gorgeous tiles invisible to the masses. Then seeing the house it self and our room with an extremely comfortable bed we has a smile on our face for the rest of the evening. Strongly recommend the Inn at Perlynna Manor.

My husband booked a room here for a night away from the kids, and arranged for dinner with friends nearby. I wish I'd had more time in the house, though - it is grand! Luxurious, pleasant. I hope to return some day.

Highly recommended for business stays

4.0 on March 01, 2008

This is a no-brainer for extended stays. Wireless everywhere.Breakfast starting at 6am (weekdays-hot and custom). Plenty of room to spread out to work- I had bluepirnts out several times, snacks at night, near the airport, business rates, laundry-great wine bar two blocks down- gracious Inn Keepers. TV in each room-private bath-modern mansion- can't imagine anyone ever using a national chain when they can come here! Near good hwys to get all over MD and Balt. Even if extended stay, treated like a celebrity on a one-time visit- You know how you hear if it sounds too good to be true...well, this time it really is that great! AMAZING!!!

5 on February 29, 2008

This is my dream place! My husband and I got married at Peralynna in June 2007 and it was nothing short of a fairytale. The staff was wonderful, the place gorgeous, the rooms comfortable & amazing, the food fantastic...everything was PERFECT!!! We cannot wait to go back time and time again. You will not be disappointed!

We needed this!!

5 on February 10, 2008

We stayed overnight at the Peralynna on Friday night. We live in the area, but really needed a little couple time, so we got an overnight sitter for our 19 month old daughter. Cynthia was very kind and helpful on the phone, and assured me we'd love our room, and we did! We were pleasantly surprised that upon check-in, our room had been upgraded. The house is beautiful and HUGE, the beer and wine was free for our entire stay, and great appetizers in the evening. Our room was lovely, great linens, spectacular bathroom with extra deep jacuzzi tub, and power shower. David even told us of a great Fusion eatery that delivered! We plan on returning for another longer stay before the Army stations us somewhere else. Thanks for such a pampered stay!!

Amazing Peralynna!!

5 on February 03, 2008

Our 4 ladies needed to get a retreat together after bad weather thwarted our plans and Peralynna Manor came to the rescue. The staff was friendly and gracious and couldn't be more helpful. I hadn't picked this place but have stayed in BNB's alot and by far this is THE BOMB!!! Elegant architecture without being stuffy and overly ornate. The breakfast was out of this world!! It was nice to pick what I wanted for a change ... terrific omelettes!! What was really terrific for us is David and Cynthia allowed us to stay awhile in the Dining Area to finish out our planning for our Ladies Church functions for the year. If we can, we will come back and stay here for our ladies retreat. Just gorgeous!!!!

Outstanding rooms and service

4.4 on January 25, 2008

This is our second visit to the Peralynna Manor and we are just as enthused as the first time. The beds are first rate, there are upscale amenities - DeLonghi coffee/espresso machine, microwave, refrigerator, and attention to detail in everything. Very professional staff. We have stayed in lots of B&Bs in the Northeast, South, and Canada - this is definitely one of the best.

Perfection!

4.6 on January 25, 2008

The view of surrounding countryside was refreshing. We were extremely impressed with the personal service and guest-friendly atmosphere at the Inn. Christmas decor and elegant rooms were fabulous. Would only suggest a bit of refurbishing in our room (V) such as missing coffee filters, carpet cleaning, toilet paper holder for "Perfection Plus" review.

IT WAS MORE THAN LOVELY AND THE HOSPITALITY WAS INCREDIBLE.

Our room was so elegantly charming; we did not want to leave it for one moment. We loved the peace and quiet you offered at Peralynna, as well as the many friendly smiles. Every one was really, really nice; such a friendly atmosphere. We had such a great time then, we will be staying with you again this month. See you then!

Home away from home

5 on September 20, 2007

My experience at the Inn at Peralynna Manor was prefect. When we checked in, we were informed that since there was a nicer room that was to remain empty for the evening, they had upgraded ours. The room was huge! Two fireplaces, Flat screen TV, 1.5 baths, extremely comfortable king size bed with a Tempurpedic mattress (the best I've ever had, literally, I HAVE to get one of those mattresses) Everything was luxurious. From the paintings and sculptures and chandeliers, to the hand soap. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We woke up and went downstairs for breakfast to be greeted with a "Mornin' sleepyheads!" from the chef. He cooked us up some lovely omelettes. There were snacks laid out to munch on all day long (and night). Fully stocked fridge with all types of sodas, water and beer. There was a pianist playing lovely music for us. I cannot say enough about this place. It literally felt like home. So comforting. The only thing I was a tad unhappy about was the view. I was under the impression that it was on a farm, but it is across the street from a farm. And there are houses around it. Minor detail compared to everything else.

A stay at the Peralynna is an affordable indulgence. Rooms are so spacious and elegant and the staff is so attentive and kind that the guest feel like they are being treated like royalty. Highly recommend for either the business traveler or a couple looking for the ultimate romantic getaway.

5 on September 14, 2007

Need to come down to Maryland for medical appointments several times a year. Everyone at the Peralynna Manor has made us feel comfortable and welcome. It's like coming down to visit old frineds. It's really important to have a great place to stay because we spend non appointment time hanging out at the Inn. The fact that we keep coming back, says it all! After the long drive down, it's a welcome sight.

A Mid Summer's Night Dream!

5 on September 13, 2007

We dreamed of a rest haven in a peaceful setting, with beautiful rooms, fantastic beds, spa baths, ambiance, service, great food and a glass of wine greeting us at the door... At The Inn at Peralynna Manor, we found our dream come true. The georgeous architure, design and attention to detail is something we usually see only in Old Europe. We love being able to stay in a place with timeless beauty, modern conveniences and over the top luxuries. We are world travelers and truly appreciate an Inn like this one, and only an hour's drive away. Although it is very large, by Inn standards, it is intimate enough, that we felt completely at home and were able to enjoy our lovely breakfast each morning. It was served on exquisite china in the sun shine filled great room, while we read the newspapers and chatted with the owners and other guests from around the world. Peralynna was everything we were looking for, but didn't expect to find. Peralynna has been on our calendar for several years as our favorite getaway, and we frequent it often and we are delighted to be able to share our experience with others, although we hope it doesn't make too hard to book next time!

Wonderful Experience

5 on September 11, 2007

From the moment we arrived I felt the warmth of this large B&B. The staff was courteous, the other guests friendly and the common areas beatiful. Our room was spacious but felt very cozy. The morning came way to quick but we arose to smell a delightful aroma coming from down the stairs. The morning chef was whipping up breakfast to order for the other guest. We made our way down to the dining area and a very pleasant chef came over to ask us what we would like for breakfast. In no time at all we where served a delicoius meal and we sat enjoying the morning sun flooding through the windows.

Country atmosphere within the city

3.6 on September 11, 2007

We spent our 4th anniuversary at Peralynna. It was a wonderful stay...very relaxing. The room was spectacular...very lovely decor and detailing. My only wish was that the food were better. For a bed & breakfast, the meal needs to be as outstanding as the room.

New to Area

4.4 on September 11, 2007

My fiancee and I were house hunting in the area and happened to find the Inn at Peralynna Manor as an alternative to staying at a hotel in downtown baltimore. We were staying during an off time and called to check on pricing and were delighted to find out that the cost would be equal to a downtown hotel price. The person who took our reservations was thrilled to find out we were newly engaged and had us stay in one of the suite rooms. The service was great and after a day of househunting it was very relaxing to enjoy a complamentary glass of wine and some snacks. Would highly recomend to any of our friends coming to visit.

What a lovely night!

4.4 on September 10, 2007

The night after our wedding, we took off for the Peralynna. It's just lovely and amazing how it was built [ask them to tell you]. The few bumps in the road were purely cosmetic: a few tiles loose in the bathroom, one [of many] shower heads not working, and some of the hottub controls also worn away. But forget about that -- they upgraded us to this suite, much bigger than we could imagine, so lovely...I mean, I finished their sherry, they made me a tall order of baked brie and honey [my wife's fave]...just a magic night.

Yummy!

3.8 on September 10, 2007

I really wanted to like this Inn

2.2 on September 10, 2007

The Inn is beautifully situated and has a warm welcome to guests. There are many very nice touches like ample Appetizers in the evening and a morning kitchen which will accomodate just about anything! I stayed in the Inn 5 nights and was very dissappointed to discover that my room was not cleaned during that time. The bed was made and towels changed but the sink, tub and floors were only sometimes addressed but not really cleaned. Glasses were not removed or cleaned from the room. This really surprised me given the length of my stay. The room had some issues as well: like a chest of drawers with a low hanging ceiling lamp above it. I hit my head on that lamp at least twice a day! The Inn is run by nice people and it has a beautiful location. If I could be assured of a cleaner room I would certainly return.

Wrong Place at the Wrong Time??

BIGGEST disappointment! Stayed here when another hotel we like was booked & thought we would have the greatest stay ever...INSTEAD we found: no staff to help us when we arrived, a room that was small & DIRTY (bloody band-aid on the floor, very dirty jets in the whirlpool tub, blood between top sheet and bottom sheet of the bed!). There were other cosmetic issues also, such as: spackling compound on the wall that had not been painted; years of scuff-marks on the wall above the suitcase stand; grout along the tub was cracked and some pieces were completely gone, the curtains hanging on the windows were much too long, drug on the floor, looked old and dilapidated, and seemed to be thrown on the wall; the balcony was under construction, so we had no way to access the balcony, and the view was unsightly. The room was so small that the king-size bed was nearly wall to wall. My husband could not set up his laptop and printer in our room, so he lost valuable work time as a result. The breakfast, though made to order, was not exceptional in any way. Overall, we would prefer to stay at the other hotel. We complained to the staff, who suggested we write to the general manager - but we never had a reply. Maybe we were in the wrong place at the wrong time, but we will never stay at this establishment again.

EXCELLENT STAY!

We stayed at the Peralynna this past weekend, for Labor Day, and had an absolutely wonderful time! The entire Inn was very clean and well kept. Our room was wonderful with the highlight being the two person jacquzie tub. The breakfast was great. Fresh fruit, bagels, toast and other pasteries are available while you wait for the chef to make your fresh, hot breakfast. I highly recommend this B&B. Call for prices because they are GREAT to work with your budget and get you a VERY fair price!
