Kenburn Orchards Bed & Breakfast

During our journey from the Niagara Falls to Boston we had a stop at this B&B. We felt very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay and particularly the delicious and variable breakfast, espacially the self made banana bred and the exquisite blueberry-pancakes. Great location and lots of area to take a walk on their property. Breakfast was one of the best we ever had. Very close to Historic Deerfield. Susan and Larry were very personable.

This was our first time staying in Shelburne Falls and we are glad we chose Kenburn Orchards. The owners are charming and the rooms were very clean and wonderfully decorated. But what surprised us the most was the breakfasts. This must have been the most elaborate breakfast I've ever seen at a B&B (or hotel for that matter). Unfortunately we were taking a course so we felt that we had to rush a bit but otherwise I don't think it would have been unreasonable to take over an hour to get through that feast. When we arrived a bit late at our course, the instructor guessed where we were (the locals all know about the breakfast at this B&B). The innkeepers were also gracious enough to give us copies of the recipes for what we had been served (upon our request). Highly recommended!

Lovely room with elegant lacy canopy bedroom and roomy neat bath .Susan and Larry are dedicated and it comes across in theirwarm hospitality. Brekfast with home grown and home made items was exceptional.

This was our 3rd visit and now that we have stayed in all 3 rooms, we can safely say that Susan and Larry offer a consistently excellent experience. We've become so attached to the house and the innkeepers that we concoct excuses to visit (sure we said we were there for Cider Days but really we wanted to just hang out at Kenburn). We've never found a better balance of everything we want in an inn: friendly (but not intrusive) and knowledgeable innkeepers, a place that both pampers us and makes us feel absolutely at home (no snootiness here), a building with character, inviting grounds to explore, privacy (we never hear the other guests when we're in our room), beds so comfy that we sleep more soundly even on the first night than at home, helpful advice and information on local restaurants and activities, and the best homemade breakfasts anywhere with ample choices for a variety of tastes and dietary requirements. Neither our review nor the photos can really do justice to this place. Just go.

My husband and I go to Cider Days in western Massachusetts every November. This year we chose to stay at Kenburn Orchards because its location is central to the event activities. The owners, Larry and Susan, were friendly and accommodating. The house and grounds were gorgeous and well-maintained, but still comfortable and relaxed. Breakfast was amazing on both mornings: definitely the best we've had at a B&B. We definitely plan to stay there again next year!

Susan and Larry were wonderful hosts and provided very helpful local information. The atmosphere at Kenburn Orchards was warm and welcoming and the breakfasts were superb!

We learned about Kenburn Orchards while planning a white-water rafting trip on the Deerfield River. Susan and Larry warmly welcomed us and fed us elegantly presented, generous, and delicious breakfasts on both mornings of our two-day stay. They also assisted us in exploring Shelburne Falls and its surrounds, including making our dinner reservations at Blue Rock. Our room was beautiful and our bathroom (complete with separate stall shower and claw-foot tub) was huge. We had a great experience which we hope to repeat next year.

My expectations were high, and they were exceeded. Imagine four poster beds and antique furniture in the guest rooms, combined with modern fixtures and utilities in a spacious bathroom. The house has been in the family for years. The innkeepers are delightful and very helpful. They made our stay easy. The room was bright, clean and refreshing. The view breathetaking. Breakfast was one of the best I have ever had. I will go back there again a thousand times over.

We very much enjoyed our 2 nights at Kenburn Orchards. Our romm was large and very clean and the breakfast were delicious and varied. The hosts, Susan and Larry, were attentive and helpful. We were there following Hurricane Irene and they went above and beyond by assisting us with information about road closures in the area. I would definitely stay at Kenburn Orchards again!

we loved staying with susan and larry. the rooms are beautiful, the beds are extremely comfortable and the bathrooms are very sapcious ad full of useful amenities. All is very clean. The luxurious served breakfast made us feel like royalty! if you are in the region, don't miss it!

Susan and Larry have a very nice, comfortable inn with lots of audience participation, ie: picking your own blueberries. I really appreciate their efforts to keep this hilltop farm and land a going concern, figuring out ways to utilize their legacy.

We had two nights with Susan and Larry and they made us very welcome. When they knew we enjoyed bird life they filled all the feeders on the veranda, so that we could view them. Also good information on local places to visit. The breakfast and blueberries were great too!

Kenburn Orchards is a beatiful home in a lovely farm setting - convenient to the Pioneer Valley and Mohawk Trail and all that it offers. Breakfasts are large and creative and delicious (do have the carrot-ginger pie if it's offered!)

Kenburn Orchards is the most welcoming, relaxing, and inviting placed to visit. The breakfasts are so delicious and abundant. It is a definite must visit B&B!

My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our anniversary, and Susan and Larry were wonderful and warm hosts. They were very accommodating of our dietary requests and made sure to have gluten-free options that were as delicious and intricate as the others. The breakfasts completely exceeded what we expected- there were freshly picked berries, home-baked bread and muffins, excellent coffee with fresh cream, and then an entree! We didn't need to eat lunch either day. Susan and Larry were very attentive to our needs, and champagne flutes and wine glasses magically appeared in our room when they noticed we had a bottle of champagne to celebrate our special day. They made sure to tell us everything we might need to know to make dining and activity choices in Shelburne Falls. The grounds are lush and well-maintained- we really enjoyed wandering among the blueberry and raspberry bushes and then settling in the gazebo to read and relax. Our room was comfortable, clean, and quiet...our stay was beyond our expectations in every way. I hope we'll be able to return again next year! I would recommend this B&B without hesitation to anyone looking for a sweet getaway.

Wonderful hosts and exceptional breakfast. One in our party does not eat eggs and they were so accomodating. Breakfast was elegant and enough food to last for a full day's outing. The place was clean and the hosts were so welcoming and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Terrific B & B near Shelburne Falls. Wonderful breakfast. Innkeepers very helpful with restaurant suggestions. Extra help in salvaging our bike ride by directing us to nearby repair shop.

The hosts provide a friendly and quiet atmosphere while offering very delicious breakfasts and kind generous information about their lovely environs.

I would strongly recommend anybody that want something extra out of his vacation to visit Kenburn Orchards and I would gladly stay there again, if possible. It is a lovely house with a beautiful garden which is run by a very hostile and friendly couple. The bathrooms were among the cleanest I have seen. However, the best part was the breakfast with everything homemade and made with so much love. According to my husband who is traveling a lot, it was the best breakfast he ever had. We ate the breakfast together with a nice couple from Texas while our hosts served us. Afterwards my son said: it was like a family gathering. I think that is a very high score. The swedish family

Our hostess must have been using ESP when our cellphone rang as we were nearing her B&B. She called us just in time to give us perfect directions. When we arrived, Susan gave us a great map of the area, and provided all sorts of excellent pointers on dining establishments and sites not to be missed. She also showed us around her lovely home and helped us get settled in. We arrived late in the day/early evening, and set off for town for downer and sightseeing before dark set in. The next morning, both Susan and Larry answered our many questions about their property and farm, and served us probably the best breakfast I have ever eaten. Everything was fresh, locally produced, and the service was impeccable. The table was beautiful, too. I felt completely spoiled! We had a great experience with Susan and Larry. It was easy to find, access to the rooms was easy and the breakfast was fabulous. They have property to hike or roam where they raise blueberries, raspberries and an old apple orchard. They are between two small towns with plenty of activities and places to dine. Overall it was great especially for the price.

Larry and Susan are very friendly hosts. Their B&B is lovely. We had a really nice stay with them.

Let me start by jumping to the "punch line". I would highly recommend the Kenburns Orchard B&B to my closest friends and family and will likely return. This B&B is a special place and the Inn keepers treat you like family and an honored guest. The breakfasts are hearty, delicious and immaginative. It is perfect for an escape from the everyday or Special Occasion.

I have stayed here twice a year for the last few years. It is a great location for parents of Deerfield or NMH students. Do not worry about the Shelburne Falls address; Kenburn Orchards is only a few minutes up the road from the Big Y, very easy to find. Larry and Susan are exceptionally cordial and accommodating, especially with repeat visitors. The two upstairs bedrooms are small and comfortable, the beds have good mattresses and linens, and their bathrooms are large. The breakfasts are delicious and can tide you over until dinner. Everything is homemade. Susan always bakes something magnificent, and there is fresh fruit, homemade granola, applesauce and bread for toast. You need to be able to climb steps and stairs carrying your luggage, not uncommon for a B&B.

I can't say enough about Kenburn Orchard and Susan and Larry. My only regret, we had only one evening with them. Every detail of our stay was taken care of. We stayed in the room with the king-size bed and we found it wonderful. Yes, the bathroom is small (it was added into a pre-existing closet) but who cares. Breakfast was absolutely marvelous - my wife couldn't finish - it was too much. I told my wife that I was the most relaxed I've been in a long time. Susan arranged dinner for us in Shelburne Falls at Cafe'Martin - I highly recommend it. We took a stroll around the small town at dusk and shivered in the brisk night air. As someone that travels a lot, I have experienced good and bad at Bed and Breakfasts. Kenburn Orchard is right up there at the top. By the way, the drive from North Adam to Shelburne Falls was lovely. Try it.

I recently spent three days at this charming spot. The house is wonderful, with lovely antiques in every corner, and the bed was so comfortable, I dropped my book on my head two nights running, trying to read before sleep. Candlelight, multicourse breakfasts will amaze and delight you. Innkeeper/owners Susan and Larry could not be more accommodating, and the entire experience was superb.

We enjoyed our stay with Susan and Larry, more than we can express in these few sentences. They were helpful and knowledgable and went above and beyond the call, making reservations and getting directions anywhere we wanted to go. The rooms were cozy and decorated in a comfortable elegance. The breakfast was amazing. We cant wait to return.

We had a wonderful time at Kenburn Orchards B&B. Unfortunately, we could only stay one night! We will definitely be returning for a longer stay. Larry and Susan are amazing hosts and very accommodating. The breakfast was phenomenal! So much delicious food! A great experience!

We had a lovely two-night stay at the Kenburn Orchards. Both breakfasts were mind-bogglingly huge and delicious, the rooms were very(!!) nicely appointed (we got to choose between the a fireplace and a huge bathroom - a nice choice to have!), and our hosts couldn't have been more helpful.

I've stayed in B&B bedrooms smaller than the bathroom we had. View out the back window could not have been better, very serious, multi-course breakfast experience. Could use a street light at the entrance, but given the dozens of B&Bs I've stayed at this place is way at the top of the curve.

We were greeted warmly by Susan and Larry and quickly made to feel like their home was ours. Our bedroom/bathroom was lovely and spotless. Susan spent a lot of time helping us to understand what this area's attractions were and aided our choice in selecting a wonderful restaurant. Our stay included meeting a great couple from Scotland whom we may visit in the future. The breakfast was very delicious and abundant and the Flaccus' went out of their way to accommodate my gluten free diet. Thanks Larry and Susan!

All aspects of this B&B are superb! Our "average" rating of the room we enjoyed is meant to caution anyone needing large bathroom or closet spaces. If, on the other hand, what you're looking for is a very quiet space with a very comfortable bed and great (huge and delicious) breakfast, you can't go wrong with Susan and Larry.

Everything about my stay at Kenburn Orchards was great. Susan and Larry are capable and friendly hosts; the room (including the bathroom) was clean and spacious; the grounds were beautiful; and breakfast was delicious AND plentiful. It was the perfect way to end a road trip -- definitely the best place I stayed at during my 5-day excursion. I haven't stayed at too many B&B's before, but I have no doubt that this one stands out among the crowd. Highly recommended.

Everything was as expected and more, the rooms were very clean and tidy, and Susan and Larry were very personable. The areas shops and restraunts are close by and very easy to get to. The breakfast was a delight, everything was fresh and well prepared, we will go back again, and we will highly recommend to everyone. We've stayed in B&Bs from Toronto to New Eng to Savannah and this is one of the best we've visited. The room was large and spotless; the bath roomy and modern. Susan & Larry are outgoing & helpful w/ local information. We cannot say enough about the creative (and filling) breakfasts!

Breakfast was better than five star hotels. Ultra clean, amazingly friendly and superb service. Must stay to believe.

Kenburn Orchards Bed & Breakfast was wonderful! We were Larry and Susan's guests for 3 days over Memorial Day weekend. The room accommodations were top shelf - the bathroom was as large as some bedrooms we've stayed in, and everything was decorated with beautiful antiques and original art in impeccable taste. We gazed at mountain views from the grounds and watched hummingbirds eat from porch feeders while we waited to be served humongous breakfasts with crystal and candlelight. They made their own granola, fresh-baked bread and pastries every morning, and their breakfast entrees were their own recipes made with fruit and vegetables from their farm and other local ingredients. Larry and Susan were personable hosts who went far beyond the call of duty to make us feel at home in their home, to recommend activities, and even to help us transact some local business. If you want the complete vacation, convenient to an arts community and mountain/river recreation, make this inn your first choice!

We cannot stop talking about our stay at Kenburn Orchards B&B. We were welcomed on very short notice to charming accommodations, and enjoyed the best breakfasts of our lives, rocking chairs and bird watching on the covered front porch, and walks around the property. We also had great dinners and walks in Shelburne Falls, and kayaked the ziplined in nearby Charlemont.

Kenburn Orchards Bed & Breakfast combines the beauty of the Berkshire Mountains with a comfortable attractive room with everything you could ever need, and a breakfast that is so remarkable—candles (!), fresh fruit, homemade breads and yummy treats, including the usual breakfast fare exquisitely prepared to your liking. What more could you want? Loved it.

Susan and Larry, the owners of this great B&B, really go out of their way to make you feel pampered, comfortable, and satisfied. They are fabulous hosts. The rooms are immaculately clean and pleasantly decorated. My wife and I enjoyed our first one-night stay so much that we returned 3 weeks later for a full weekend. We stayed in the Isadore Pratt room, which has a comfortable Queen canopy bed and a huge bathroom with a claw-foot soaking tub and a separate shower. The highlight has to be the breakfast, which is fit for a king (and queen). Susan and Larry serve multiple courses. They make everything from scratch and use local ingredients, including fruit from their farm. Susan bakes fabulous muffins and breads and makes her own granola. The omelets, waffles, and "Dutch Babies" were all made to perfection. There is so much to sample and savor on the breakfast table that it is impossible not to overdo it a bit. Luckily, there are a number of nice hikes nearby to burn off the calories. The B&B is part of a large farm with enough acreage to explore for a while. Longer hikes are only minutes away by car. The town of Shelburne Falls is about 5 miles away and its a great place for lunch and dinner and shopping. The town is home to many artists and craftspeople who are happy to demonstrate their work and sell their wares. Susan and Larry know the area well and make great recommendations. To top it all off, the room rates at Kenburn Orchards are very reasonable. What's not to like? We highly recommend it.

Susan and Larry, plus Honey & Moxie made us so welcome when we stayed in September. We were over from the UK, have been staying in B & B in New England over the last 17 years and this one is up amongst the best we have stayed at. Who could eat lunch after such a breakfast!! Also many thanks for all the local information that helped us see a lot of good things and shops. If we get back to West Mass I am sure we will stay here again.

My husband and I recently stayed at Kenburn and had a wonderful time. Susan and Larry are wonderful and were so helpful with dining and with suggestions of things to do and see. We wouldn't have know to see some of the things we did with out their "locals" information. Their dogs, Moxie and Honey, are just precious and made the whole experience that much better. Our room was large and our bathroom was extremely large and was stocked with wondferful goodies. The breakfast that Susan and Larry served was over the top! We still talk about it to this day. Kenburn Orchards is a great value, with great serrvice and a wonderful setting. We highly recommend staying at Kenburn Orchards!

Most outstanding breakfast. Beautiful surroundings.

Kenburn Orchard B&B is beautifully situated with superb view of the hills of western Mass. Its location results in a perfectly quiet night's sleep and about a 10 minute drive into Shelburne Falls. The breakfast is very generous with more offerings than I could possibly sample. Larry and Susan are wonderful hosts; helpful, but not intrusive. I would certainly stay here again. Our time spent at kenburn orchards made our stays at other B and B's pale in comparison. Candlelit breakfast, with several courses, and all local or homemade treats was so elegant, delicious and filling. The bedrooms are lovely, but the bathrooms are a treat. Want a spa bath or a vintage bubble bath, this is the place for you. I haven't even mentioned yet the views, setting and birds. This place is Great!

Bit tardy in writing this review as we stayed in Sept '08 but it was fabulous. Wonderful setting, rooms and hospitality and the breakfast is truly awe inspiring. We will return!

Susan and Larry provide the best of what B&Bs can offer: warm welcomes, comfy rooms, thoughtful attention to detail, a relaxing atmosphere, and spectacular breakfasts. This was our second stay and it was just as great as the first. Each time we have so enjoyed the food and conversation at breakfast that we were tempted to linger long past our intended departure time (this inn seems to attract folks who are interesting but not overbearing, so your morning meal is lively in a good, relaxing way).

What a great way to see Western Mass. Susan and Larry are gracious hosts, and their breakfasts were excellent. We enjoyed our stay very much.

larry and susan were wonderful hosts. our room was charming and comfortable and the breakfast was HUGE and DELICIOUS! i often rise 2 hours befor my husband, so they provided me with coffee and coffee cake to keep me going until my husband got up. we will deffinantly return!

We stayed there only one night, but it will be the most memorable night of our 2 week vacation! We're from Atlanta, GA, and mostly stay in hotels. However, after staying here, we may change that philosophy moving forward! The Kenburn Orchards B&B is by far the best place we've stayed in yet. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were welcomed into an old friend's home, and were able to relax by the fire, enjoy a wonderful nights rest, followed by the most amazing breakfast that we've ever seen! I would recommend this 5 star attraction nestled in the northeast to anyone that happens to travel anywhere near this place. This is not only a must experience, but is almost worth going out of your way for! Well done Susan and Larry! Thanks for an incredible time!

This was our first experience with a bed and breakfast and we were very satisfied. I really didn't know what to expect. I feel that I will never want to stay in a hotel again after this wonderful experience. The hosts were gracious, the food was outstanding and we would definately go back. Very very nice. Larry and Susan were wonderful hosts. Our room was charming and comfortable and the breakfasts were huge and delicious. I often rise two hours before my husband, so they provided me with coffee and coffee cake to keep me going until my husband got up. We will return.

I had the opportunity to stay at Kenburn Orchards B&B towards the tail end of winter this year. Since it wasn't peak season, I was the only guest at the house. Even though Susan was away, Larry made me feel right at home. The breakfasts were fanstastic and frankly a bit overwhelming in terms of choices. It was a great stay; I plan to come back here this summer with my girlfriend - it's a great intro to a wonderful area of the country!

The gourmet breakfasts were not only delicious but beautifully served. Larry and Susan were very gracious in welcoming us to their home. We can only imagine how lovely it must be in the spring, summer and fall.

We were the only guests at this lovely property. Gas fireplaces in both the common room & our spacious bedroom offered cozy comfort against the early season snow. Breakfasts were creative , varied, & delicious. Our hosts were informative & wonderfully interesting. It was a wonderful.

This b&b is wonderful! The surroundings are lovely, serene, and not to be missed. Susan and Larry are wonderful people, and the food is delicious! We can't say enough about how much we enjoy our visits, we've been there 4 times and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. Larry's crepes rival the street vendors in Paris...

WOW what a breakfast. Owners Susan and Larry presented an amizingly gournet breakfast. Many choices all delicious and organically made from scratch. They were sweet and helpful and kind innkeepers.

Wonderful people nice property rooms and public spaces are warm and inviting. Close to quaint towns and site and wasily asses to major road.

This bed and breakfast was outstanding.

We just stayed one night with Susan & Larry and their dog Scruffy in their charming old farmhouse just outside of town. It was delightful! The room and bathroom were large, clean, charming and comfortable. There was a great common room for reading and visiting. Breakfast was fabulous (including homemade popovers!) ... and Susan and Larry are just lovely folks! We loved our stay ... just perfect!
