Oceanside Inn

  • Inn Details

The Oceanside Inn welcomes you with the only accomodations in Scituate on the ocean and also comes with a beach. All our rooms are just 30 ft from the Atlantic at high tide. Panoramic Ocean views of Massachuttes Bay with the ships sailing into Boston Harbor "visible" from your 4 poster Queen bed, King canopy and from your private balcony or deck. The large deck where breakfast is served (weather permitting) also has chaise's for sunbathing or watching the ships and birds. In 1920, as summer's heat settled in, Boston's elite would travel from Beacon Hill to "The Summer House" at Scituate Harbor. Today, that summer home of yesteryear is available to you year-round as Scituate's only waterfront Bed and Breakfast. Sitting on the ocean's edge, the Oceanside Inn is an authentic New England beach house. The nostalgia remains with the beachstone fireplace and whitewashed matchboard walls but today the experience is enhanced by central air, heat and whirlpool baths. View the flashing of Minots Light across the ocean, the 1-4-3 flash says "I Love You". Take a short walk to Scituate Light, 3rd oldest in New England. Although most beaches are public in Scituate, access is limited to those with town stickers for parking. At the Oceanside Inn walk along the deck to the beach.

The inn will have some competition now that a new Inn is opening. Rooms are a bit cramped. Toilet was not bolted down and it moved every time you sat on it. The inn keeper and the owner are very nice people. The inn was clean. It just felt a bit runned down and in need of some updating.

My wife and I travelled from Seattle to visit family back east for two weeks. A last minute decision was made to stay in a B&B. On the way to the airport we made a reservation at the Oceanside Inn. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the Lady of the house, Doris. She welcomed us and made us feel very comfortable. We entered our room, Sciuate Light, to find a beautiful appointed with comfortable, yet timely antiques. The bonus was, we had a private deck overlooking the vast Atlantic. The next morning we were greeted by Gayle, the Inn's cook and keeper. A gracious local woman, with splendid skills in the kitchen. Her delicious breakfasts were served on a sun filled deck with views of heaven. Gayle could not have been more gracious. If you have never experienced a B&B, now is your chance. The Oceanside Inn is a must.
