The Keeping Room (dining room) named after Enos Breed, builder of the house in 1818, with it¿s 8-foot beamed ceiling, working fireplace with beehive oven and original cooking utensils, wainscoting, wide-board floors, and 60-pane glass picture window returns you to the charm of old colonial New England. A full breakfast served by candlelight is offered daily featuring fresh baked muffin du jour, seasonal fresh fruit tray, and a full choice of egg dishes and omelets served with home fries prepared with herbs from our herb garden. A variety of pancakes are also available. All dishes are garnished with fresh fruit or flowers from our gardens. Herbal teas, brewed decaffeinated coffee and of course our freshly ground special blend of coffee are available. The Gathering Room (living room) named after Lucy Bourne Pope Breed, wife of Enos Breed, also features a beamed ceiling, working fireplace, built-in bookcase, wainscoting, wide-board floors, and a Dutch door opening onto a quaint small porch overlooking the beautifully landscaped side yard featuring many beautiful plantings and a quaint seating area.
The Samuel Burbank Bedchamber, named after the second owner of the house, is a master bedroom located on the second floor complete with fireplace. This room is wallpapered in a lovely dark green floral pattern. It boasts a beautiful carved cherry, four poster queen-sized bed with an accompanying step for easier access. There is a unique hand-stenciled painted rug located by the entrance to the private tiled bath with shower. The floors are wide-board pine with an oriental rug at the foot of the bed.The Antoinetta Breed Bedchamber, is named after Enos and Lucy Bourne Pope Breed¿s, (the original owners of the house) daughter. This room is located on the first floor adjacent to the Gathering Room. It features five windows and a private tiled bath with tub/shower. The room has a full-size antique carved mahogany bed. This room is carpeted in a plush mauve color to accent the lovely blue and mauve floral wallpaper.
The William H. F. Burbank Bedchamber, is named after Samuel Burbank¿s son who operated the family store at 155 Main Street (The site of the Brown Jug). This room is furnished with a queen-sized maple bed, an antique mahogany armoire with beveled oval mirror, and tilting pedestal table with two chairs. Within this room is a kitchenette which consists of sink, 4-burner stove with oven, and under-the-counter refrigerator nicely tucked behind louver doors. This room has a private entrance from a mahogany deck. The deck has a table and chairs and many potted plants and flowers. This room is available alone or as a suite when combined with an adjoining room for a family or friends traveling together. The Louisa Crocker Burbank Bedchamber, is named after Samuel Burbank¿s wife. She was the mother of 5 children, born in 1802 and died in 1888. This room is decorated with a lovely yellow floral wallpaper and has a white antique wrought iron bed adorned with gold accents. A 3-drawer dresser with mirror is made of honey pine with beautiful carved scallop motif. This room uses a fully-tiled bathroom with full-size tub decorated in blue.
