Gilbert's Tree Farm B&B

We only stayed for one night, but we loved it. The house was beautiful, the neighborhood was peaceful and lent itself to a lovely walk, and the hosts were charming. The room was very clean and nice, and the breakfast was delicious. A great value!

We only stayed overnight but were treated like "old friends". They were very accommodating even when we couldn't give them an exact arrival time. I would definitely stay there again.

My wife, son, and I stayed with the Gilberts for a few nights over the holidays while visiting relatives in the area. Jeanne and Don welcomed us into their house and made us comfortable the entire stay. The house is located on a little traveled road, that turns out to be fairly close the highway, shopping, and dining, but you'd never know when you're at the house. They even took us to a local forest and led us on a very nice long walk through the woods of southern New England. We stayed in the 2nd floor "suite" where we had a very private area all to ourselves, and were able to come and go without bothering the other guests. Jeanne and Don served us hearty breakfasts every day and were available with advice and recommendations on local activities. We also found the Mind Body Barre yoga studio right around the corner where we were able to keep up our practice while on the road. We'll be back with Jeanne and Don the next time we're in the area.

My girlfriends and I stayed here last month and what a delightful pleasure! Jeanne & Don were so warm and inviting while at the same time giving us space to enjoy ourselves. One evening our group was careful to tip-toe around after returning to the B&B after a night out on the town, hoping not to wake Jeanne & Don. Only, we learned the next morning, over a delicious French Toast breakfast, that they weren't even there. They were painting the town red until well after midnight!! Lovely, historic farm house with super-comfortable king-sized bed and luxurious bedding. Clean and shiny in every corner. Comfortable sitting area. Delicious, moderate-sized breakfast served on interesting older, dishes in a light-filled eat-in kitchen. Hosts are very attentive and responsive and wonderful conversationalists. They really enjoy hosting their guests. Only drawback was a result of the older architecture: thin walls and doors allowed conversation of other guests to be heard in our bedroom. We plan on returning. we've made new friends.

This lovely B&B was only a single night on my recent travels, but Jeanne and Don made me feel so very welcome. I was treated as if I were a long-ago friend come to visit. The accommodations were extremely comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious and freshly prepared. I would definitely return if I am ever in the Providence area again.

From the moment I arrived I felt like I was visiting my home away from home. I was kindly greeted and the owners were so sweet and gave me ideas on local places to eat. TheI breakfasts were outstanding and I look forward to staying there again!

My wife and I stayed with Jeanne and Donald for the weekend for one of our first trips to New England. We were able to see many sights including downtown Providence and Newport as the tree farm was not far from either of these locations. We found the setting of this B&B to be extremely relaxing and exceedingly welcoming. This is largely due to the nature of the proprietors. Though we did not interact much with Donald, he was very kind and made us feel right at home. Jeanne was very accommodating and even woke up early on Monday morning when she discovered that we had to depart early. We enjoyed very pleasant conversation along with great food at breakfast and there was never a moment that we weren't made to feel right at home in this charming farmhouse. This was our first experience at a B&B and certainly will not be our last since we were shown what a fantastic experience it can be. I highly recommend the tree farm for anyone looking for a relaxing place to spend a few nights in the New England area.

When we arrived at Gilbert's we fell in love with the country setting. It is quiet and peaceful. The first night, we stayed in an upstairs room with a shared bath. Both bedroom and bath were very confortable, clean and neat. We moved to a downstairs room for the other four nights. This room had a private bath which was also very clean and neat. The suite also had a nice sitting room which we liked. We liked both types of rooms and would stay in which ever is available the next time we gothere. We enjoyed sitting on the large outside patio. It was very peaceful there. There is free WiFi available for those who like to stay connected. Jeanne and Don were wonderful and we enjoyed great fellowship with them. We left feeling like close friends. We also enjoyed the wonderful breakfasts that Jeanne prepared each morning. We are looking forward to our next visit which we are planning in the fall. My wife and I stayed here on our way to Plymouth. Great location. Quiet and our hosts were wonderful.

We were looking for something other than the major chain motels. We found just what we were looking for and for a much better price. Spacious rooms, kind and generous hosts...kind of like spending the nigiht at Grandma's. Children fit in and are welcome. Warm and friendly atmosphere that is a breath of fresh air in a country surronding.

If you're looking to escape civilization for a while, this is the place. Jeanne and Donald are extremely friendly, helpful and will give you as much space or conversation as you desire -and they're excellent judges of that. There's not a lot to do directly where they're located, but if you plan on taking day trips or laying low, then this will suit your needs.

Jeanne and Don were extremely hospitable hosts and just great people in general. The location of the bed and breakfast is beautiful and convenient for the many tourist attractions near it. Each morning we enjoyed a lovely breakfast with the other folks staying there and Jeanne and Don joined us in conversation. Great place overall, I highly recommend it!

Needing to spend five days in New England on business I looked for an alternative to a a national motel chain. Jean and Don Gilbert made my stay feel like I was visiting family. Their hospitality made the stay both enjoyable and productive. The B&B was spotless and the grounds were well cared for. Jean and Don Gilbert were friendly and helpful. I have recommended the Gilbert's B&B to others.

My wife and I stayed three nights recently and had a wonderful experience. Jeanne & Don were gracious hosts, providing wonderful, hearty breakfasts, plenty of local advice, and friendship. The location is only a couple of miles off route 6 (near Swansea mall) yet in a rural, peaceful, and beautiful area .... tucked away in the woods. We would most definately stay there again. Highly recommended. A GREAT alternative to the "stuffy" hotel chains in near-by Providence.

Jeanne and Don were very pleasant and friendly hosts. The rooms were clean and well kept. The house is a beautiful older home. Jeanne cooks up a wonderful breakfeast and encourages good conversation to make your stay more personal. My only critique is guests should be aware that the house and rooms do not have air conditioning. Jeanne and Don were happy to provide fans to help keep things as cool as possible in the evening/overnight though. All in all a wonderful place to stay, thank you!

Clean, good food and very helpful. Even gave us free app coupons for the nearby restaraunt. Blueberry pankakes were some of the best.

Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this place. The inn owners (Jeanne and Don) are very friendly and eager to make you feel comfortable. The B & B is located very much close to Bristol and Newport (less than 30 min. by car).

We were looking for a quiet, 2-day getaway, and found it at Gilberts. Jeanne was a wonderful hostess, and made us feel right at home. In fact, it felt like we were coming home when we returned to the B&B at the end of our day's activities. Rooms were very comfortable. The property is located well off the road, and the only sounds heard at night were the crickets and tree frogs. Jeanne made us a cup of tea in the evening, and we enjoyed our conversation with her. In the morning, she joined us at breakfast, and served us a delicious, full country breakfast! We enjoyed our time there, and will return.

My wife and I stayed for just one night but wish that we could have stayed longer. Jeanne and Don were wonderful and welcoming hosts. We enjoyed a great night's sleep, clean, complete and quiet accommodation and a superb breakfast and conversation to wrap up our stay. The grounds and area are beautiful and just a quick trip to Providence too.

Located in a very quiet rural area. Jeanne and Don were very friendly and made us feel right at home. They invited us to go square dancing with them and everybody we met was very friendly.

I was going to a conference in Providence, and I just couldn't bear staying at a sterile hotel. I was also late in making my reservations. Two days before going I searched on line for a B&B in the area - and in my price range - and I was very lucky to find Don and Jeanne's Tree Farm B&B. A 20 minute drive from Brown ended with a warm welcome by Don to their lovely home: an 1830's farmhouse, original floors and fixtures, simply and authentically appointed rooms, very comfortable bed. I left both mornings early to get to conference panels by 8am, but they left fruit and danish and coffee and so on for me prior to going. And on my way out early on Sunday morning, there was a gobble of turkeys right down the road. I stopped to look and was rewarded with an aggressive feather display by one of the toms! So, the place is rural enough for such sights, but close enough to Providence to make it worth it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Barney B.

Jeanne and Don are a great couple! My boyfriend and I had a nice stay, a hearty breakfast, and great conversation. Coming from a bustling city to the quiet country was a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend Gilbert's B&B!

Don and Jeanne made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. They had great suggestions for dining out. Breakfast was also quite amazing and especially nice considering we didn't have to go out in the cold just yet. The room we stayed in was a room on the lower level with a private bath. The bed was two twins pushed together and was very comfortable. The house was old but very clean and warm. Would definitely consider staying there again.

Gilbert's B&B provided my group with a lovely, relaxing weekend away. We were greeted with warm, smiling faces and immediately felt right at home. Don showed us to our room, the Middle Room, upstairs and gave us a tour of the house. Don and Jeanne gave us several dinner suggestions in the area. The house was very clean and neat. Jeanne was accommodating to any food allergies and preferences for the breakfast meal and time. I rate our stay with Jeanne and Don very highly and look forward for another visit during the warmer months.

We really enjoyed our stay at Gilbert's - a beautiful spot & a beautiful home! We are interested in architectural details and this house is chock full of them! Jeanne & Don are lovely folks who went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We enjoyed sharing stories and hearing about the history of the farm. Our room was lovely and very comfortable. The only thing that seemed a bit strange was an envelope left there with the suggestion of a tip for the housekeeper. It would not seem unusual in a hotel, but it's the first time I've encountered this in a B&B. Next time we are in the area, we will plan to return to Gilbert's and do some catching up with Jeanne & Don.

Our first visit to a B&B was fabulous. We enjoyed getting to know Jeanne and Don. They are kind and gracious hosts. The house and room were clean and comfortable, the home cooked food was delicious. It is a lovely hideaway in the woods, where one could find both tranquility and humor. Much laughter around the breakfast table. I would recommend it to anyone.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights recently while we explored Newport, RI (only about 30-40min away by car). Our innkeepers Jeanne and Don were perfect hosts! They truly welcomed us and the other guests into their home, sharing a delicious and congenial breakfast with us all and giving us tips on fun things to do in the area. Our room was actually a suite, complete with a living area that contained 2 pianos plus a large private bathroom. We couldn't have been happier with our stay.

I really enjoyed my stay at Gilbert's B&B and look forward to staying there again. The hostess was quite pleseant and made us a lovely breakfast. Although for the first time visiting it was a little hard to find since they did not have a sign at the end of the driveway.

Guided to the door by the farms cats in the afternoon,most guests got in late. Clean homey rooms, got a tour of the house. Great breakfast and round table with other guests. Don & Jeanne were great. Would we book again in a minute.

The breakfast was amazing. We had fresh blueberry pancakes with maple syrup, bacon, sausage, and fruit. It was very delicious! Jeanne & Donald were very fun and caring to our stay. The beds were comfortable. Overall, it is a fantastic place to stay! Jeanne, thanks for playing games with us!

We only stayed one night in the queen room. The bed was very comfortable and it was very quiet. The hosts were very welcoming and sociable. We enjoyed our stay.

We spent just one night at this lovely home. Jean and Don were so welcoming we felt like family. Breakfast was great not only because of the food but the fact that Jean and Don shared their meal with us and another couple who were also guests. We shared some funny stories and toured the rest of the house. We had a queen room/sitting room with a private bath that was very spacious and comfortable. One night didn't seem like enough so if we need a place to stay in the area again, we'll come back!

Jeanne and Don took great care of us. We thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with them. They recommended some fine beaches and restaurants nearby that we explored.

Although short (this time), I really loved my stay there. It was exactly what I was hoping for. I live in CA and my daughter just began attending Brown University, so I was looking for a place to stay periodically during the next 4 years that felt 'New England-ish' but was also a short easy drive to Brown. It's quiet, my room/bathroom were very comfortable and clean, and waking up to a home-cooked breakfast with great conversation was wonderful. I am so looking forward to my next stay there in mid-October when I'll return for Brown's "Family Weekend." Gilbert's B&B, an old renovated farmhouse, is completely surrounded by trees, and the New England fall colors (if I'm lucky enough to experience it with the weird weather this year) will just feel like icing on the cake!!

Jeanne and Don are gracious hosts, providing a Bed and Breakfast Inn the way it used to be - before it turned "frou-frou". Simple, yet satisfactory rooms, delicious hand made breakfast, lively conversation and plenty of advice for excoursions and attractions.

We arrived shortly after Hurricane Irene had passed thru the area and were not sure what to expect. Jeanne and Don were very welcoming and helpful despite having a very large tree down very close to their home. Luckily they still had power. Breakfast was very delicious and the company of fellow travelers was an added bonus. On our last night there, the power went out and Jeanne and Don did a great job of helping to make the best of it with humor and neccessities.

Jeanne is a lovely, friendly innkeeper who went out of her way to accommodate us. We got in late and it was dark and the bridge was out with the directions we had. Jeanne stayed on the phone with us as we drove so that we would not get lost as she knew we still needed dinner and the restaurants would be closing soon. She even had a coupon for us to use at the restaurant for a free bowl of clam chowder!

If you're looking for a home away from home, Gilbert's is the place. It's a relaxing setting, located in a rural-like area, yet close enough to the city so that all the area has to offer is only a short drive. The innkeepers went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. I'm glad I found this place and won't hesitate to book here again when I'm next in the area.

We were visiting Brown University w/dtr. Best part of stay were the wonderful hosts! They were welcoming and gracious. A historic home(1830s) out in the woods- slept very well. Breakfast was great. Very accomodating- allowed us to heat up our lunch leftovers. Enjoyed wild turkeys in the yard as well as trees and farm cats. Would stay again. THANKS!

We have stayed here at least 3 times. Always comfortable, great value, quiet, relaxing and the owners feel like our best friends now. Have stayed in three different rooms and loved them. My husband, grown daughter, and I recently spent 3 nights at Gilbert's B & B and loved it. My daughter said it was one of her favorite parts of our trip to New England. Jean and Don are such warm and caring people. We feel like we now have new friends in MA! Jean is a great cook and provided variety for breakfast. She and Don were genuinely interested in getting to know us as people, not just as customers. We highly recommend it for a peaceful alternative to staying in a hotel.

We stayed over at Jeanne & Don's for a night last July. They are so sweet, I should say that it seemed more that we were staying at some old friends' house than in a B&B. The area is beautiful, you get the charm of the countryside (and the good sleep) and it is really close to Providence RI (for those who are the urban types as we are and don't seem to be able to be far from a city for too long). The house is charming and Jeanne & Don were really accommodating to us, as we were travelling with our 2-year old daughter. The only thing that we found was that it took us a bit to find the place, as the main road leading to it was cut and we had to find an alternate route, but hey, that is some type of adventure after all. We will definitely be back.

What a find! A beautiful 1830 house in a wooded quiet location. Within short driving time to the Rhode Island, Massachusetts coasts, and maritime museums. Great hosts. Extremely reasonable.

I was very pleased with the accomodations at Gilbert's B&B. The room was very comfortable and our hosts provided us with a lovely breakfast in the morning. The reason for my stay was to visit Newport and Providence, RI and both were very close in proximity to Gilberts. It was the perfect place to stay and affordable.

This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast. I grew up in a nearby town and can tell you the choices of hotels are awful. The price was great, the room was clean, and the bathroom was clean. It is an old house so don't look for air conditioning or a TV in the room (there were fans in the windows). I was one of 3 rooms upstairs and had to share one bathroom with everyone upstairs. Next time I will call the B & B directly to secure a room with a private bath (there are only 2). I really liked the owners who were personable and very nice people. I commented that I liked the pillow on my bed and the owner called me at home after my stay to give me the information about where to buy the pillow. That was very thoughtful. The morning breakfast was also very nice and it felt like home. I will stay there again next year.

We had a great stay at this B&B this past weekend for a family functioning just 10 minutes down the road. I stayed here last year with my son and had a room with a private bath. This year, that wasn't available so we had to stay upstairs with a shared bath. It was hot!! But there are fans and you aren't hanging out in your room must so it was okay. My Dad and family stayed in the queen room downstairs with private bath and loved it. We all loved Jeanne and Don and they make you feel so welcomed. I will stay again!!

Located outside of Providence and Fall River, about a 1/2 hour to New Bedford, 1 1/2 hours to Boston. 45-50 minutes to Newport, Rhode Island. On Rehoboth and Swansea county line. Small local library opens about 11:30 a.m. Country setting. Wooded area. Quiet. Peaceful. House built 1830's (?). Big bedrooms. Pleasant owners made breakfast and joined guests every morning; it's their policy. Large kitchen. Property set back off of country road. Good deal for those wanting very out-in-the-woods experience. Significant drive into Boston though. No air conditioning but fan in upstairs room. Definitely need a car to get around. Good deal for overall location.

It was my first B&B experience. The rooms, bathroom, and dining area were very very clean, much better than those inns/hotels I usually stay for 100/nt . I love the hardwood floor and furnitures in the room & natural sampoo, and body wash etc... Best part was listening to the sound of the nature that both me and my wife had a great 9-hour sleep. Dining was fun. The owners joined the breakfast with all the guests, breaking the ice and making a very friendly atmosphere that everyone was talking & sharing info. The food was excellent. Although there weren't that many kind of food, all the food served was the best quality food and very delicious. Only reason I gave 4 out of 5 on "Rooms" was because of the King Bed I had didn't have headboard so I couldn't lean back while sitting in the bed using my laptop. (but I am sure if I mentioned this to the owners, they would have found a solution to this...).

Friendly couple with resident cats runs a B & B in a lovely old farmhouse in a bucolic setting. Breakfast was delicious. Would not hesitate to stay here again if in the area!

We were in town to visit family, but needed a convenient place to stay close by. This was our second stay and it was just as fine as the first time. We have no difficulty in recommending Gilbert's B&B as Jeanne & Don have a wonderful facility and are fabulous hosts.

Jeanne and Don are so welcoming and really give you a home away from home. You are comfortable from the moment you enter the home, and they are super laid back and allow you plenty of space as well. They are a pleasure to wake up to in the morning and are such wonderful company at breakfast. The breakfasts are wonderful, and Jeanne makes sure you will like it before she makes it. She is flexible with any dietary restrictions etc. After you leave, you will feel as if you have made new friends! I am already wondering when we could return. Have fun!

While attending a conference in Rhode Island, my wife and I stayed for a week at Gilbert's B&B and everything was wonderful! This was our first stay at a B&B and we could not have asked for a more restful experience or more welcoming hosts. The wooded grounds were beautiful, the 1830s house was immaculate, the room was comfortable and cozy (I actually slept better there than in my own bed) and the hearty breakfasts were a great start to our day. Gilbert's location is an ideal home base for day trips to Providence, Newport, Cape Cod, Boston, Mystic and everywhere in between. I would definitely recommend Gilbert's to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful stay in a quintessential New England home.

The innkeepers, Jeanne and Don, are so kind, hospitable, personable, and caring -- I would go back anytime. This was an excellent experience. My sleep was restful, the property was beautiful, the rooms and house were exceptionally clean. They've done an excellent job in keeping the traditional feel of this farmhouse, but providing a modern experience with great wireless and organic produce. Really lovely.

Our hosts - Don and Jeanne - were warm, welcoming and friendly. Full house since a holiday weekend, but all amenities delivered smoothly, including group breakfast. We stayed an extra day! Asked for early breakfast and not a problem.

I used this location as my base during a short educational program. I found it perfect for relaxing walks in the woods, study sessions and felt comfortable coming and going as needed. Owners were kind, helpful with directions, and hospitable.

I stayed here over the weekend and I must say this place is fantastic! Don and Jeanne are extremely welcoming and make you feel right at home! I would give one word of caution- when driving in the neighborhood looking for the bed and breakfast there is no sign indicating which house is the bed and breakfast, it looks like it is someone's house, which threw us off as we were driving up thinking we were at the wrong house!When we arrived we took a look at our room and then decided to go out for dinner. The room was very clean and homely, and Jeanne offered to start and tend the fire while we were gone so it was ready for us when we got back. The rooms are part of their house, and so if you are looking for an exclusively private suite, this is not the bed and breakfast for you. There was also not a TV in the room, which was fine with us but if you are looking for television for your entertainment, this may not be the place for you. Jeanne asked us what we wanted for breakfast, and we all sat down and had a nice quaint breakfast together the next morning. Overall, this place exceeded my expectations, and Don and Jeanne couldn't have been nicer people. I would strongly recommend this place if you are looking for an authentic bed and breakfast!

We stayed 2 nights and the B&B met our expectations. It is only 1,5 hrs from Cape Cod, Old Sturbridge Village and Boston. If you want to visit these places I recommend this B&B rather than cheaper hotel rooms which tend to have little atmosphere. We felt very much at home.

My husband and I spent two cosy evenings at Gilberts Tree Farm Bed and Breakfast in Rehoboth, Ma. In October of 2009. We loved the setting of the home and the feeling of peace that we found there. Our hosts, Donald and Jeanne Beardsworth were delightful. We enjoyed meeting new people in the morning at a full and yummy breakfast. We were attending my 50th College Reunion at Rhode Island School of Design. It was an easy drive to Providence.The house is simple and charming we stayed in the large king size room on the ground floor with our own bathroom. The upstairs is lovely with three bedrooms and a shared bath. Antiques grace the home. We would return again to visit this wonderful area.

This B&B which is tucked away in rural Mass. It is an easy drive to Rhode Island and vicinity. Jeanne & Donald welcomed us as though we were family. The room (and the rest of the house) was comfortably decorated and fit the appropriate time period. Breakfast was generous and tasty. We were privileged to share these meals not only with the other guests, but with our gracious hosts. We look forward to staying with them again if we are ever in the area.

Service was very good, breakfast dining with others as well as hostess very comfortable, the food like homemade and tasty, rooms very adequate, beds very comfy, very homey atmosphere.

It was our first time staying in a B&B and we were very happy. The room was a nice size and having a private bathroom is ++++. The innkeepers are the nicest people and a joy to talk to. You're secluded in beautiful wilderness but only about 10 minute drive from all the main town with all the shops and restaurants you need. The house has a quaint country feel and is historic. I highly recommend staying here if in the area. Very close to Providence, RI, and not too far a drive to Newport, RI or Boston, MA.

Remote setting, yet close to 195, had 3 tasty breakfasts with the hosts who were pleasant and helped plan your day, great price, would most definitely stay here again

We are from So. California and come to MA to visit our Son and family and have stayed at Gilbert's Tree Farm B&B several times. We consider it our home away from home. The rooms are private and cozy. Jeanne and Don are excellent hosts and make you feel welcomed at any time. We really enjoy the delicious breakfasts and interesting conversations with everyone. We've met some really sweet and fun people from all over the country at Jeanne and Don's breakfast table.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Gilbert's - mostly because of the Inn Keepers. They are a very nice couple and pleasant to be around and chat with. We even got to pedal the player piano! We hope that if they are ever in our neck of the woods that they would come and stay with us! The breakfasts were great and the nice part was that the Inn Keepers sat with us and had their breakfast as well, while we all chatted. The rates are also reasonable. The location was perfect for us to visit our niece and nephew who are attending college in Providence, RI and Norton, MA. Thanks again!

We stayed there for one night, and could not ask for a more relaxed atmosphere. Both Jeanne and Don are excellent hosts. We could not ask for better hosts and they did everything they could to make our short visit the most enjoyable. The rooms were clean and cozy. Jeanne made special accommodations for us at my request without hesitation. We enjoy a great breakfast in the morning where Jeanne and don joined us. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone and will mostly likely makes plans to stay there again in the future.

We spent two nights at Gilbert's on 09/26-27/08. Jeanne and Don made us feel very at ease and at home here. This was the first B&B of many we've stayed at where we felt perfectly comfortable coming to breakfast in our sleep clothes! Rooms were very clean and neat. Delicious breakfasts. Beautiful, peaceful country setting. The large flagstone patio looks like a wonderful place to sit and relax. We were there during the tail end of hurricane so the patio didn't get used!

Tucked away in Rehoboth, MA, but close enough to area attractions in Fall River, Provident & Newport RI. The Gilbert's B&B was a nice place to retreat to. My night at the Gilbert's was a great experience. during my short time there I felt like a member of the family. For a night in the country I highly recommend it.

The couple that owned the inn were very nice and made us feel like we were home. The outside grounds and pool need updating. Our room was nice but need color tv. The food was okay but could have been better.

What an eclectic house. Warm, friendly and accommodating innkeepers. Comfortable place to spend scrapbooking with a group of seven. The best was having all our meals provided (yummy, too). No time lost going out for meals.
