The Brass Key has a fantastic location, a wonderful pool (one of the few in town), the breakfast and evening happy hour offer an array of treats, and the grounds and rooms are generally spotless. But.... The personal service was almost nonexistent. I don't care that it was towards the end of the summer -- when you stay at a premium resort, you ought to be treated with personal and excellent service...or at least politeness. The staff was generally nowhere to be found and when you did find one, they were frequently surly. One request of ours: "We'd like to have a glass of wine by the pool. Can we borrow some of your plastic wine glasses? (They only put glass in the rooms)" Staff: "You can't have glass by the pool." Us: "That's why we'd like to borrow some of your plastic glasses." Staff: "I don't know. I'll see." Sure this seems minor, but it was a simple request that could have been handled in a polite way. And unfortunately, this wasn't the only example or the only staff member to treat us and the other guests as, well, just in the way. Plus there were a myriad of lost opportunities where the staff could have gone just a little out of the way to make us all feel welcome. A minor disappointment: many of the rooms are tiny -- really just large enough for a bed. In the summer you're more likely to be out by the pool or in town, but many of our friends complained that there was nowhere to even put their empty suitcases! If you're willing to pay the extra dollar for a great location and some very nice amenities, by all means stay at the Brass Key. Just don't expect to be treated as a valued guest!

    Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your feedback. We try hard to provide exceptional service to everyone at all times. We apologize if you were not made to feel special. The rooms at the Brass Key are some of the largest in Provincetown and are some of the most well appointed.

My partner and I stayed at the Brass Key last summer and just rebooked again for this year. The inn is simply beautiful with its spacious courtyards and stunning pool. Our room was gorgeously appointed and spotless. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. We spent our days relaxing by the pool and it was only a minute walk to the shops and restaurants on Commercial Street. At night the new Shipwreck Lounge in the main lobby was the perfect spot for a drink before dinner and we quite enjoyed how lively it got later in the night. Simply put, the Brass Key is the best in Ptown and we can't wait to get back.

It was a great B&B. I liked the proximity to Commercial Street and the rooms were very elegant. Would highly recommend this place!
