The Hungry Whale Guest House is a lovely quaint bed and breakfast owned by the Sullivan’s, Dennis and Mary Ellen. The Hungry Whale B&B Guest house has been operating since 1969. In 1998, Dennis and Mary Ellen took over the Inn from Mary Ellen's mother, Mrs. Johnson. They continue to run the inn with the same charm, warmth and hospitality. Mrs. Johnson also passed down her famous recipes for her awarding winning Jams,Jellies, Cakes and delicious Muffins, served daily to our guests.

Because the Hungry Whale is so centrally located, walking or biking to town or the sun setting Step Beach is a delight. In town you can stroll through the unique shops or sit on the many benches outlining the Belguim cobblestone streets with an ice cream cone and just "people watch".

Walk down to Children's Beach and watch the ferries come and go, or Stroll down to "Step Beach" with your favorite wine, and sit and watch the most amazing sunset's with colors that make nantucket so unique.

    • Consumption of alcohol is permitted (Various wine sampling is served to guest)
    • Deposit amount required (One day deposit for weekend or 3 night stay/3 night payment reguired for a week stay.)
    • Closed: Open Memorial Day till Sept/Oct
    • Check in time is 1.00 PM and Check out time is 1030 AM

      Prior to 48 hours refund minus 10%, however if the room can be rented(after 48hrs) we shall give a full 100% refund.

She is a warm charming and lovely women who has been greeting people from all over the world and they have been coming back often just to visit with her.     This is the front view and entrance to the Hungry Whale Guest House in Nantucket. The house is within walking distance to town and to Step, Jetties, and Cliff Beaches!Our lovely front yard where you can lounge on the hammock or at the table next to our beautiful garden filled with herbs, tomatoes and flowers. Makes for a peaceful and relaxing afternoon!
    One of the inn keepers, Mary Ellen SullivanThis is our lovely yellow room that is either suited for single and/or couple. It's bright and sunny with great cross ventilation making it cool during the nights. There is a color tv, small refrigerator, beach towels/chairs and a full Continental Breakfast.
    This is our largest room with a small sitting area for two, air-conditioned, your own half bathroom(no shower)toilet and sink. Shower in the outside enclosed hot and cold shower or the main bathroom on the guest room floor.The Brass Room is a bright front room with cross ventilations two windows and a Queen Brass Bed. It comes with cable TV, refrigerator, beach towels/chairs, and a large roomy closet. All rooms have Internet Access. The main full bathroom is shared with the Yellow guest room. Rates are $115 per night for two guests, plus tax, and includes a full continental breakfast
    One of our smaller cheese and fruit trays served with hand painted glasses and fresh flowers also served on one of our lovely hand painted trays.Beautiful Step Beach, (my Favorite) which is a short walk (5 blocks) from the Hungry Whale Guest House. On a clear night walk down to the beach with a bottle of wine and sit and watch the most beautiful sunsets with colors that you can only see in Nantucket.
    One of many different Continental breakfasts served on your own tray to eat in the privacy of your room, deck or garden. Extras are also welcomed! :-)
